Dancing Mario Bros edition

Here's the basic idea: An tournament with contestants who have qualified at least once in the main tournaments. >Qualification To qualify, the contestant must have been part of the Elite Eight in any of the eight preciding tournaments. In case one of them has been part of an Elite Eight more than once, I'll hold a round with the rest of the contestants outside of the Elite Eight just to get the exact number of contestants for the tournament. >Structure 64 Contestants. Seed Ranking round followed by Group Stage followed by normal brackets round. >Seed Ranking As I don't want anything regarding randomization in the tournament, the Seed Ranking will be used to group the other 48 contestants in their respectives groups. The 1st and 2st places in the eight main tournaments don't participate in this round, their already the head of their own groups. >Group Stage 16 Groups with 4 contestants each. The 2 most voted in them advance to the brackets round, in case of a draw, their broken by their performance in the Seed Ranking round. >Bracket Normal bracket round. Round of 32 to Finals. >Date I'll plan to hold it in May or June 2026 at Max for Ms. and 2027 for Mr. . It will happen every 8 years. That's a basic summary of what I plan with the tournament. Yesterday, I got the idea of putting together an art collab, not unlike the annual maps, where we would each draw a character that has won either Ms. or Mr. /co/ as part of a big poster. Per the suggestion of CDArt over in the final Mr. Afterparty thread, we're gonna keep it to just the winners of the main bracket for now, but I'm hoping to expand to the side bracket winners (with the possible exception of the Nostalgia Critic, I think he has beef with that guy) if this project goes well enough. This thread is for discussing and planning a possible /v/ all-stars tourney. As you may know /co/ had its own All-Stars tourney comprising of its first eight Ms. and Mr. winners. /v/ is about to have its own 8th tourney year and crown it's 8th Queen and King /v/ champion, meaning its now in line for its own all-stars tourney. The "m/v/p" tournament has been a popular proposed name for it. This is would be a one time opportunity, aligning with the "elite 8" tournament concept, and a similar all-stars thing (after waiting another eight years for 16 winners) may be unlikely as it's so far in the future. How should a /v/ all-stars tourney go down? When? Where? What do we think would happen? ect. Generally celebrate or judge our winners too I guess.

Grinch is very interesting because he's known for a TTT win and has never had a lower vote placing then 209, but he's never broken over that 128 seed barrier either.

Less than a week away from the start of this year's Mr. /co/ tournament. Tournament starts October 10 at 7:00 PM EST.

Best of Smash Anon Here, planning on doing that Best of Ultra Street Fighter IV tournament you guys talked about eons ago. Probably on January. I will however need some help. I want you guys to give me some good images on all the fighters in this game. Best ones you can find. I don't care if their lewd just like I did with some of the smash girls in the Best of Smash I just want images you guys think represent the roster. As usual this tournament will be CPU vs CPU, you guys will just pick the Top 32 participants out of the 44 characters within the roster. I've seen a few scattered claims that Lelouch and Claire won in terms of votes and it was just never declared as the guy bowed out, but I can't source it). Then whoever won A would fight B and C would fight D, with the final fight coming down between those.

How do we feel about characters being nominated just so they can be in the bottom or barred tournaments? It kind of bloats the nominations and takes some of the fun out of these side tournaments. But it also lets some more niche campaigns happen. I'm torn.

With Doomfags (aka Doomers or Doomposters) fully taking over and derailing Ms /co/ 2023, we need to discuss these spammers who are damaging tournaments and how to limit their damage. >Who are they Essentially, Doomers try to derail all discussion of tournaments with meta "sky is falling" mentality. They are not sincere in their intention or what they say, but want to cause as much chaos as possible for "fun" and/or try to get interest in tournaments to decline rapidly. They will make a talking point whatever side they think will cause more controversy while not beliving what they say. Common signs of doomers include: >Having fake mental breakdowns over even the most minor of rules changes >Constantly trying to make entire threads a meta discussion about the hosts of tournaments or what hosts of tournaments are doing instead of the actual tournament >Trying to "coup" hosts out or especially make splinter threads they hope will get mods to remove official threads instead of theirs >Trying to asterisk any single character regardless of what happens, especially tournament winners. Fang in particular is brought up a lot, but they will hyperfocus on certain characters as "rigged" as well >Mass spamming anyone who discusses anything outside their doomer topics with doom posts or trying to claim rigging >Pretending they are "riggers" to seed doubt What are the best ways to limit their presence?

I've noticed most of the recurring OC material (I'm talking the broad stuff, not tied to any specific candidate) can all be essentially put into one category: Coverage. Psyanon is old timey positive news coverage, F4G News is tabloidly and cynical news, that...the one I can't remember the name of with the two greyscale characters is the 'duo bouncing off eachother' style of news. It's all news coverage. So I got thinking, what would be a interesting alternate style of non-character OC, aside from going full RP like what 2020 did with Ramses. I came to thinking of some sort of Campaign Manager or Underhanded Broker type, funding the candidates, talking subtle smack about having to sweep their dirty laundry under the rug, making jokes about playing both sides and trying to sabotage the competition, that sort of thing.

(Or Domino I guess, title was long enough as is) There's been enough fighting between trolls and loyalists about who was the least bad host, but what about their other shit they got outed for?

Post characters that you'd do everything in your power to campaign for, but will most certainly not make it into the bracket in any capacity. My choice is Sister Bragante, from the Ogre Gods. The comic itself is genuinely a hidden masterpiece and even dead-side characters have an entire personality around them. Bragante has to be one of the most tragic figures I've ever read in a comic. The Ogre Gods threads seem to have gotten quite the attention and made quite a few anons read it but few people are aware of Bragante due to volume 4 not being available online.

An /int/ernational tournament where we take Countries and pit them in a tournament. If held in /int/ there wouldn't be no same-fagging and countries would actually come together to bulk vote their countries. There'd be discourse in basically every turn as every country at some point had some conflict with each other or HATE each other like the Balkans. This is in my opinion the most dangerous and controversial tournament we can hold.

Thread to discuss the second Co-op Tournament that will be held in February or March on /tnt/.

With the way things have gone in ms. /co/ it's clear theres a lot of junk in hosting that could benefit from software automation. This thread will be the place to discuss such themes and/or contribute to related projects.

When, if ever, is it alright to campaign and host at the same time? >In main tournaments >In side (/tnt/) tournaments I'd like to hear your perspective since I'm not sure there's a concrete perspective. I figure a lot of us who campaign have the will to host, but fear that we'd lose the ability to campaign because of it.

This is something I've considered since late last year: /vall/ - /v/alhalla General. How would it work? Instead of voting for characters, you'd be nominating and voting for the games themselves. With the whole product being represented, it means several characters could be part of a single campaign. We could have a fucking field day, it would be so kino.

How the hell would a /tg/ tournament even go about being hosted? Traditional Games used to be (and is still is to some extent) a broad type of media that has a huge influence on /v/, /co/ and /lit/ media. Warhammer 40k is the juggernaut of the /tg/ media by a large margin, only being challenged by its contemporary fantasy setting and DnD. There's swathes of other settings to include like Battletech, Cyberpunk, etc. but they don't hold a candle the /tg/ giants. So how would a /tg/ tournament even be held? A Warhammer only tournament or a broad /tg/ tournament that has the same rules as /co/ regarding big franchises?

This isn't a thread about curses but rather weird and unexplained phenomena that tend to happen in rare occasions in these tournaments with a few exceptions. Curses are something else as in they're always bound to happen in one tourney or another and are more focused on one character but these phenomenon are exceptions as in they're something that rarely happen and can include many characters in said term. Two phenomena where I'll give the names now are the Omniman Syndrome and Black Canary phenomenon. >Omniman Syndrome: When a character has had huge hype around it but absolutely fails to deliver. There obviously have been quite a few characters with this Syndrome, most infamous of course, being Omniman himself who lost in round 1 in Mr. /co/ and Tagteam which is baffling considering /co/ was going crazy over invincible over several months prior. >Black Canary Phenomenon: Character that only ever appears in one tournament and somehow makes it to the elite eight and fucks off to never be seen ever again. This case was literally always one reported case, until recently when Shirley made an appearance this year nearly being crowned the fucking Ms. /co/. What are your phenomenon that you've noticed in these tourneys?

Welcome all to the Murder Games! The purpose of this tournament is to give any of your nominee a second chance to get a win. For each character added to this tournament, the game randomly gives them perks and items that will come in handy, although other times can backfire horribly. The game is simple, everything is a simulation where all the characters fight each other to death. The rules are simple: >The winner is excluded, only 127 characters will participate >The transition between posting rounds will be around 7-8 minutes so anons present can discuss anything about the previous slide >Peace slides are posted faster >The Elite can participate >The last character standing alive is the winner If there is anything you want to add or someone I missed in the pic, you can tell me now (perks). Some discussion was brought up about this in the Queen /v/ 2023 tournament, and I wanted to make a thread here as it was fun to think about. Which tournament voter base has the highest IQ? Majority of the Queen threads held the belief that King had the dumbest voters, their evidence for this was King voters accepting and voting in favor of the loser bracket. This then led to some anons jokingly, or unjokingly, stating that /co/ voters were actually smarter than /v/ voters for voting against a loser bracket. Then evidence was thrown around saying actually Ms. /co/ has dumb voters due to not having good winners. Which was countered by some saying that due to Ms. /co/ having the most strategic voting out of any tournament, and at times having 8 different simultaneous layers of false flagging at play that Ms. /co/ has actually the smartest voters. How would you rank each voter base in terms of intelligence?
