The core issue is this thing was started out of nowhere by funposters, for funposters. You'd have proper nominees if normal posters participating in earnest were alerted ahead of time. The abruptness of the tournament itself along with the threads being relentlessly bombarded by rabid schizos and other assorted cretins probably scared away many of the earnest would-be participants who somehow found the tournament even without an announcement.

Even now it doesn't look legit at all. It looks like Chinese knock-off Tag Team. Even if it gets manhandled into being "good", it's foundationally bad. Whichever team "wins" this will mostly just be curb stomping ill-conceived trash. There's no salvaging it.

Seems like it was fairly sparse. You had over five hundred posts in qualifiers, then three hundred, then over a hundred each thread. A little smaller than when hosted on /tnt/.

The problem is that Tag-team has always been announced and discussed in those threads for years and yet it doesn't seem to gain any attraction even after we provided specific dates, victory screens and posted teams. Doesn't help the tourney itself is stuck on January. To Ms and Mr. /co/fags, only those two tournaments matter since Tag-team to them just seems like the consolation prize for two.

Most people won't follow any tournament that happens here. You could hold Ms. or Mr. here and you'd lose a huge chunk of voters. I would never expect Tag Team to have as many voters regardless, but announcing a later event on the board 100% of people are already using will have a less steep drop off than asking them to go to another board on a completely different site. Even just holding it on /co/ would get attention from passersby. It would help to not look blatantly shitty, though. For that reason, I don't consider the results of this misadventure conclusive of anything.

Yes but in the end we pretended it to be bigger than that and what ended up was just a tournament spammed by the same guy who ragebaits all the time.

Also, whenever we announce the tournament dates here and at /co/ or /v/, the anons there always know exactly when the tournament is going to happen. You can tell there's a lot of people who keep track of that based on how they seek the specific days when the nominations start for the four main tournaments. Instead whenever Tag-team and Co-op have been posted with dates and all no one is interested and even then they still come here at /tnt/ and has gained attraction. The teasing this year just proved us it was never going get anyone to click on it despite being in the catalog for days and someone even posted the poll in another thread to vote for their teams.

With main tournaments it is clear, you vote for characters you like. They might be voted for great campaign or recency bias but the character has to be liked from the onset. It is easy to get anyone in because you just have to like or know a /co/ character. Casual users can just vote and post in a few threads and forget about it
With tag-team, it is very unclear what you are voting for, especially since it is not just canon duos and has not been since the start. Is it voting for best campaign or best duo or best way they interact? The entry level is harder and the meaning less clear. It is for people who are already hooked on tournaments as a concept
