Recent 4chan Happening ThreadAnonymous
Image:174475612526.png(1.07MB, 2048x1837)yotsuba.png
A thread for discussing the recent hack and takedown of 4chan by the Sharty, as well as its potential effects on the tournament scene. This has been created to try and take off-topic activity away from other /tnt/ threads.

I’ve seen it spread around, including here, but so people know the Chicken Jockey post is NOT the last post made on 4chan before the shutdown. It was the final post made on /qa/ before the shutdown. The website still took posts for close to 20 seconds after the Chicken Jockey reply was made. Latest I’ve seen so far is at the 33 second mark

REMINDER: IT COULD'VE BEEN WORSE
From the Farms:
>It's sad Captain Gem didn't elevate privilege using one of the bazillion `sudo`, `su` or FreeBSD Kernel exploits that have been discovered since 2016 (CVE-2016-1881, CVE-2019-14287, etc.) after he got shell access. A `sudo rm -rf /*` would've been unrecoverable since the tranny jannies almost certainly had zero backups.

>In fact he could've brute-forced the root password on the server since earlier `su` versions had no protection against that.

/qa/ has a storied history of being colonized by different users over time, before soy posters it was a /jp/ clone, just with random funposting instead of just Touhou, and before that it was made up of a bunch of random complaints about the site and a meta thread called the Happening Thread that was basically the only "original" /qa/ thread alive at the board's end. It also got raided by /pol/ a few times since they got butthurt that people made "delete /pol/" threads.
Why did soy posters take over /qa/? Who the fuck knows but it probably has to do with the moderators not caring to moderate it beyond the bare minimum and sometimes protecting the happening thread.
So then these annoying /pol/ or /int/ or whatever-derived users decided it would be cool to spam their garbage on other parts of the site for once enmasse and the mods didn't like them trying to wipe entire catalogs. The soy shitters then got KWABd out of existence for like a week and were hunted like dogs, so they migrated to their altchan where they got increasingly more underage and mentally ill.

Reminds me, there was a thread called /PNN/ on /pol/ that acted like a yellow pages thread for newfags (/pol/ hates gatekeeping), but it was basically a meta thread
It eventually got booted by the mods to /qa/, prompting practically every user to swarm the extremely clueless retards in that thread. Seeing an opportunity to troll AND follow the rules, the happening thread and /qa/'s spammers (jaks weren't the only things on the board at this point) kept reporting it when remade on /pol/, permanently ruining their newfag general
They even had a radio show and everything, it was bizarre

That's quite normal, you have a public ban reason that shows for users, and the private one is for other mods so they know if for ex. "same person as ban xy using a VPN". We have that as well, but our system just calls it "Notes".
