If you want me to give my opinion, I think Soldier deserves an E8 appearance this year far more than any other TF2 rep. He’ll have tough competition though, and the prospect of implementing randomized brackets for King is very likely, so we can’t be certain if he will do well.

>Mr. /co/ 2018 and 2019 were won by a buff, handsome, ditzy but endearing man (Grim and Cap. America don’t really have anything in common kek)

>Ms. /co/ 2021 and 2022 finals were between the one designated pick seen by many as the last opportunity to save the tournament vs a contestant suspect of only making the finals through fraudulent/questionable means (either spitevoting or rigging) despite having some genuine support behind them. In both years, the former won.
>Mr. /co/ 2021 and 2022 finals were between a spindly ayyylmao intergalactic criminal related to either /co/nquerors and/or Plunderers of the /co/ast vs a /co/ meme juggernaut from a beloved adult show. Yeah probably but I think it's the most likely series to have more than one character in the Elite Eight outside of Metal Gear. Speaking of which, I think Snake will make it back to Elite Eight this year seeing as he was close last year. If he just had a bit of OC, he would've beat Leon.

One thing I do remember from this Ms. /co/ is Numnuts saying something along the lines of NightShift being one of the OG minor roleplayers from 2020. However take into account that
1. It's fucking Numnuts we are talking about.
2. Whichever character NSA might have played during 2020 wasn't active in subsequent years

Well, for starters, don't be a spamming faggot.
Like another anon said in one of the final afterparty threads, putting your character in the public consciousness WON'T guarantee you better chances. People seem to think being recognized at all gets the votes, as opposed to your character actually being liked. It's true that many of our champions and elite members used to be tournament fodder early on, and needed active campaigning - sometimes spanning several years - to even get close to reaching the quarter-finals stage (see Grievous, Zorak, Carl, Betty Boop, Tyr'ahnee, Wallace, Max, Xavier...), but the thing all of them have in common is that they resonate with the board either because of what they represent to the medium, or due to their history here, and have always had a dedicated group of fans rooting for them. They didn't come out of nowhere. This is not to say your literal who doesn't have a chance at all at qualifying, but it isn't something that gives instant results.

With that aside, fan-art and roleplay are the most effective forms of campaigning, with their own intrincancies of course.
Fan-art often requires more skill and is more time consuming overrall, but you can still be relatively mediocre at drawing and make good content for your pick going by other factors. Take one of the Xavier drawfags who made those mini-comics. Sure, they are not the most technically impressive out of all the stuff produced this year, but they were hilarious and made a good effort in potraying the characters effectively.

The thing is that with roleplayers, they should strive to remain as in-character as possible and post occasionally, lest they post so much that they make the thread all about them and it goes from a few funny interactions into an attention-whoring contest. This was a huge problem during Mr. /co/lympus 2020 and it almost killed the tournament. Three or four posts per thread are fine, but a reply chain running for several threads after the guy you're roleplaying as got kicked from the tournament? Well, that's a complete no-no. Hell, people might be motivated to vote againts your pick for this reason.

NEVER beg for votes; don't rely on alliances to leech off other characters, and even more importantly and especially applied to roleplay, don't drag other characters through the mud, or at least as little as possible. Yes, EVEN if it's complete in-character for well, ern, your character, to do so. Nobody likes that. The anon who rp Hades this year was absolutely delightful in how well he played the character and still avoided this issue.

Betty did get some fanart and genuine supporters before making quarter-finals in 2021, and I can tell you it was a deciding factor because some of her matches were extremely close. It might not be the best example, but it counts. Tyr'ahnee and Dominator might be the only real cases of an early exit making it big in Ms. /co/ through constant campaigning, not counting Brisby because she was apparently rigged. Fuck why is Ms. /co/ so fucking lame.

> don't rely on alliances to leech off other characters, and even more importantly and especially applied to roleplay

Tbh, that highly depends on the context. The alliances were quite an integral part of King /v/ 2021, it made for some really hyped up matches and the RP and OC's were top notch. In /co/, I agree most alliances are fucking shit and are mostly to leech each other off... Expect for one: The Plunderers. It is too small to even be called an alliance, It would more appropriately be called a friendship than an Alliance and it was formed naturally because Zorak, Ruber, and Silverbros were being genuinely supportive of each other and it made sense to be called an alliance afterwards.

I honestly think that Plunderers are ONLY reserved for those three parties.

>The alliances were quite an integral part of King /v/ 2021,
As someone who had Batter and several others from his own alliance as their mains, I came to hate the entire idea behind "The Schizos" and how it became so integral to Batter's campaign to the point people won't be able to separate his victory from all the autism and team-faggotry derived from it.
The Schizos SHOULD have been an alliance in the same nature as Plunderers, consisting only of Batter/Isaac/AM/Grimm aka the characters with actual chances of making the bracket with enough shared traits to have a theme around them. But of course, people were afraid if they didn't include every single Generic RPGMaker Sexyman #56 in existence then all the fandoms who had been left behind in the qualifiers wouldn't lend their vote.
A huge shame since I genuinely like Batter and the rest of the schizos are probably going to be spitevoted to hell by association going forward.

Something that I’m disappointed is how little hype John Silver vs Squidward got compared to what it should’ve had. Most people were doomposting about Silver inevitability losing to squidward which greatly diminished the OC potential it could’ve gotten.

The only OC we got, which arguably the best OC for both, was a last minute OC where John Silver began to say Sundowner lines which I greatly wished would’ve lasted longer because it was funny as fuck. Shame honestly, because John Silver still turned to have been squidwards toughest opponent.

Modern DTVA has a major presence on the board and is significant in animation, a big definer of the generation. Of course the board's mainly millennial wank and has opinions like yours, but that still shouldn't stop an elite run from at least a few characters. In fact had the tournaments been held a year or two earlier GR and Star vs. probably would have made E8 (Wendy and Hekapoo have had a strong history). The bad performance of later shows like Amphibia and OH in recent years is largely cause of the tourney's changing spited nature, new socio-political controversy's about the industry, and dumb conflicts amongst each other's fandoms (which is what I mean by tribalism).
Basically despite their contemporary iconic status they've been ripped. Now it's make one big miracle push next tourney or wait 10-15 years for the nostalgia wank to come around.

>Mao Mao
He deserves better. Not only in these tournaments but in general. He looks great and unique, is badass, and highly entertaining. Also from one of my favorite modern cartoons. If he can't continue his show then at least let him get far. Also he's very handsome.
>Moxxie
Probably my most personal pick. I doubt he would even get in. But he's my favorite Vivz character and I like everything about him.
>Skeletor
He's iconic, he's hilarious, and he also looks cool somehow. Easily one of my favorite animated villains.
>Gumball Watterson
I actually checked the qualifiers list and he's very close to getting in. He's from a great show. He's cute and funny. And his mother already got into the Elite 8, so why not?
>The Iron Giant
Superman.
>Space Ghost
I like him just a little bit more than Zorak tbh. Sorry Zorakanon.
>Jack Skellington
The best Jack. Also probably the best animated Halloween and Christmas movie ever.
>Spider-Man/Peter Parker

Goth Chicks had some active campaign going all tournament due to Gwen and Looner roleplayer. The one positive to take away from this is if the tournament was rigged, as screwed up as it is to say, at least our winners weren't completely silent like Chaos and had both roleplay and OC. We could of had much worse. Also as for what you said about the events before, yeah probably. The fact that this is a much smaller tournament and we had new hosts (no offense) would make it much easier to rig.

Mr. /co/ is going to have some VERY tight competition, especially compared to the other tourneys where a lot of the notable favorites simply can't run. It will be interesting to see who makes E8 this year, because depending on the results 2024 could turn out to be the most competitive year overall.

If the trends the last two years are anything to go by the winners will either be #1 seed or a far away underdog.
Ms. /co/. still sort of has the all-star lineup people were calling last year (i.e. acronym girls are all in plus some other classics). Chel and Fang being gone are much bigger losses than Brisby and ENA who were basically fodder up until last year. And I'm guessing a plunderer probably won't win again after Zorak, but they have a very good shot at E8.
Also my hope is that the 2nd place curse will be broken for more than one tournament this year. I'd hate to just write off Hank, Madotsuki and Eggman as already doomed. They're all personal bids of mine.

Eggman could definitely win one year considering the popularity of his character and how he beat heavy hitters in 2021 like Doomguy, Wario, and Kiryu. For Hank, it kinda depends on if people are still mad about Propane. No idea about Mado seeing as she was a total jobber before 2021 so I don't know if she'll go back to jobbing early or not.

The case of a runner-up reaching finals for a second time is intriguing. I can already predict the posts arguing over the hypothetical of having someone end as runner-up twice and why this given contestant should be voted over their opponent in order to prevent the shame carrying that title could entail. Which is probably a big reason behind the curse and why people, even subconsciously, stop voting for silver winners up to a certain point far in the tournament.
No.26809

>>26808
A lot of runner-ups have other factors. Raven is a part of F.A.R.T.S., Grim is a part of a skeleton alliance and both Jack Skellington and Grievous (yeah they considered him one) won on a secondary and main tournament respectively, Tyrahnee won a secondary tournament, Johanna was used for spitevoting, Hank already was getting spited in Ms. /co/ because of Propane, and Shirley was rigged. People were also not happy with the Duck Match so Daffy might be screwed.

I have been giving this a little bit of thought and going by the assumption Doom Guy and Battler don’t get spitevoted early either because of 1st seed curse and the jobber meme, I think this is how things would have gone
>Doom Guy and Battler snatch an elite spot and clash during quarterfinals
>assuming Travis and 47 losses occur naturally and not because of strategic voting, JC and Wesker still get in the top 4 and top 8 instead of them
>Frost shits on Mario and gets an elite spot, but due to the hype of a potential Jack Off being non-existent, Phoenix advances to semifinals instead of him
Which leaves us with a final 4 conformed by Phoenix, JC, AM and Doom Guy/Battler. The potential grand finale is either JC vs AM or Phoenix vs Battler.

If anything it's just a major example of how bias can distort the way a character is perceived. Hypothetically speaking, I can think of contestants whose reputation would be irreparably ruined the moment they were revealed to be cheating, either because the threads don't have an all-around strongly positive stance on them, for simply not being popular enough OR for already attracting a bunch of vocal detractors on their own.
Don't take this as me shitting on Brisby, but I'm not going to pretend she shouldn't have lost the very first round (at least if we are expected to believe NSA) just because I like her, her OC and her fanbase. If one is going to shit on Shirley and all the other furries for being riggers, don't obfuscate the fact Brisby was one too just because you like her more.

The difference is Shirley had zero tournament history before "suddenly" making the finals (which is farther of course then anyone else implicated)
As in for the 4 tournaments before her run she was nominated only once and was mid-pack for nominations without getting close to making the bracket.
All the other rigged girls (besides Gadget, who was obvious FOTM because of the Rescue Rangers movies and is excused) had prior tournament history, in some cases very significant tournament history.

Legitimate curiosity from my part, but how can you hate the 2021 Queen line-up so much while putting 2019 near the top? 2021 had three girls from 2019. At the same time, 2020 is put above 2022, the latter which also had some girls from 2019.
Was Recette winning really THAT upsetting to you? I could also ask the same thing about putting the King tournaments in completely different tiers when those have repeats, likewise.

Winner is like half the ranking, E8 and general layout of the bracket other half.
I don't hate Q2021, just don't care for it. Yes the winner being probably the most underwhelming character in E8 and all /v/ tournaments is the biggest factor.
I wasn't thinking left-to-right ranking, Q2022 would be slightly above Q2020. The line-ups were both pretty even to me.
Honestly though I'm not as invested in the /v/ ones as the /co/ so they're a rather haphazard ranking in comparison.

Spinel is an alright character from a bad show with a terrible fanbase whose whole run is seen as tainted thanks to the utterly predictability of the result itself, the attitude exhibited by her fans, the accusations of fraudulent votes that followed after the fact, and the host drama. I tend to put her bellow everyone else because I already don't like her a whole lot as a character, but for many people it was the misery of the experience itself what makes her a bad winner. It's for these reasons I can get behind why some anons put Fang at the same level, even though I voted for her.
On that note, I want to say I think the Ms. /co/ waifuhallah is actually a very solid selection of characters, more or less at the same level as the other three. When it comes to Ms. /co/ champions, Dr. Mrs. The Monarch is the most "meh" one in my eyes, ironic considering Ms. /co/ 2020 probably is the best female /co/ tourney to date.

Spinel herself is cool and I don't mind her much as winner in and of itself. I think she's the best SU pick at least. I even personally thought ms. 2019 was pretty fun even if bullshit. The narrative's awful one-sided too but it was argued a lot at the time, and I think mentioned on the wiki, that the anger and /co/'s hate-boner for SU was just as annoying and doing just as much to help her as the other factors.

I agree. People kept crying that no one cared about it and it was just /pol/ posting but there was good OC of it just about every thread when it started and people were really passionate about both characters. I kind of wish I made something for it even if I'm heavily biased for Daffy. It happening early also meant no one had to be unfairly eliminated on the road to it and we already lose 64 characters between rounds 1 and 2 anyway. Battler vs. 47 if it ever happens will probably be terrible though because it's about some wrestling stream rather than actual characters with similarities and similar fans and 47 is carried hard by the idea of the match with everyone screeching about spitevoting him out after Battler lost last year and how little support he gets compared to Battler. I hope Nightshift sets up the bracket so that Battler vs. 47 can happen at Round 2 at the latest so it doesn't ruin the tournament.

Gotta say Lorifag was the most inscrutable poster on this board. He acted like a /tnt/ regular and attention whore but then abruptly left when tag team was moved here cause it was 'no longer part of /co/' or something.
And it's funny when you consider the mass rp autism that /v/ has started with /co/. Now the only one's still loafing around regularly are Plunderer's and DTVAfags (lol). Right now I think it's mostly that there just happen to be more active devoted campaign/rp autist for /v/. The peculiar success of /v/ in 2021 (particularly King) for campaigners, and the fanfare/meme dimes behind characters like Battler and Umineko in general really brought a lot of it. /co/ doesn't really have an equivalent to those. And there's also just the recency of /v/ over /co/ tourney's, and tag team not panning out as well for campaign/rp as co-op.
And then there's Temp who assumingly left, who I'm pretty sure was one of the long-time obsessives about /co/ tourney discussion.

What makes a character a Battler? The biggest factors of Battler runs in my opinion are his
>large thread presence even after he's eliminated
>unceremonious jobber status
>massive following that haven't actually gotten into his source material (47 plays into this with TFR)
>being the heel everyone wants to eliminate but also the underdog

>Gets BTFO’d by Fang
>suddenly Fang is the cheater and somehow worse than off site raiding because she beat an actually rigged character
>I repeat, the non rigged character is the worst cheater in Ms /co/ history because another character cheated, that character isn’t at fault somehow
If anyone is at fault here it’s Shirley, it’s a very blatant spamming campaign being performed by a couple autistics 8 months after the fact.

I do have an issue with Shirleyfags though, being that they didn't really exist until her rigged run unfairly gave her much more exposure/oc/campaigning ect. Which is why I'm just not gonna support her regardless. I feel similar about Johannafags.

I don't think handing Raven the win a year post-tournament would have been at all satisfying, and while Spinel's win is itself unsatisfying, at least she's the one who will have her win tainted. The best time to do something about it would have been while it's happening, when Raven could have gotten the celebration she deserved. Raven's votes also rose with the overall tally so Spinel's percentage was about as big as previous wins. Another interesting fact:
>Raven lost narrowly to Toph in a R3 upset the previous year
>Frankie lost narrowly to Jenny in a R3 upset the previous year
>Jenny narrowly beat Toph and won the whole thing
This is a shaky ground but it makes me guess that Frankie would have slightly won the Frankie vs. Raven final that should've happened.

So, seeing as it's still cropping up in the hype threads AND has been discussed here since January, is the so called "Prophecy of Chaos and Fats" going to amount to something(Like Miss Monarch Justice and Justice for Fang) end up being a complete failure (Like Team F.A.R.T.S. or S.C.K. Chaos(mainly Eris, but there are a handful of other potential agents) will almost certainely do well unless some major bad seeding happens(that's the consequence of randomized brackets).

The Fats is harder to say. On the one hand, they can function without any paticular girl, they all have fat-art practically speaking. On the other hand, a candidate solely backed by them(Sharon seems to be the favourite) is going to get spitevoted to hell.

I'm mostly curious to see the banter it'll cause. Eris getting pissed at the Fatties trying to fatten her up, whoever the fatfags roll with being bothered by the constant chaos. It's a fragile alliance

UWE isn’t very popular on /co/, hell, the new thread right after an episode aired about 8 hours ago is still only at like half the bump limit and the reception is very mixed as opposed to Primal’s unanimous love. Emma also lacks the meme factor and has a LOT of people calling her ugly.

I wonder if this anon was trolling or not. Because if not, one anon's forgetfulness changed the course of Mr. /co/ history. Imagine had Jack won.
>Daffy would probably have not gained the following to reach Elite Eight the following years
>none of Daffy's opponents seem like they would have been a threat to Jack (The Iron Giant, Wall-E, Hugh Neutron)
>with Daffy out of the picture, Tom might have lost a lot of support now that they can't face each other eventually leading to Aku clinching the win
>none of Tom's opponents seem like they would have been a threat to Aku (Shaggy, Wallace)
>we would most likely have a Jack vs. Aku finale tiring people out on Genndy fully meaning Grievous and Fang might have not won (though that depends on how much the rigging truly affected Fang)
>if Fang didn't win, Fang x Zorak shipping wouldn't have happened meaning Zorak wouldn't have won
>this is not even mentioning how the gay wedding probably also wouldn't have happened due to Jack no longer losing to be reunited with Simon meaning roleplaying might be significantly less powerful in these events
ONE vote potentially changed everything. Another anon in the replies said he also forgot to vote.

Very hard to call it "picking a fight" when the only known DVTAfag offers no resistance to protect his own threads whatsoever other than bragging about his ped* show to other DVTAfags. However, if I was a betting man, I bet this isn't the first time DVTA have lost naturally not only to us, but themselves.
