Doomguy and his jobber statusAnonymous
Image:170231507377.jpg(2.55MB, 2812x1968)EgdeTLXWoAIsl8R.jpg
Inspired by the Eggman Jobbing thread

2019:
>Doomguy's best run ever so far.
>He was able to steamroll most of the entire tournament. Even beating out characters like Dante and Solid Snake
>Becomes one of the first finalists in the tournament history and faces Armstrong in the final, in which Doomguy lost to Armstrong

2021:
>He is back to make a comeback in this legendary tournament after being absent from 2022.
>He would have quite an impressive run, steamrolling most contenders.
>That's when he faces Eggman in the 4th round. And get's bodied

2022:
>This time, he has joined Jack Garland in an alliance to purge chaos.
>This year, hosts are randomizing the brackets to make things fair. But this would only screw over Doomguy by throwing in the same bracket as Jack.
>The two fight in round 2. And Jack wins against Doomguy. He would go on to steamroll his way into the finals.

2023:
>He's back. This time, he is gunning from Jack's head after being betrayed.
>Come to the tournament. So far, things are going well in round 1. Until round 2, where in a twist no one saw coming, loses to 47.
>He would later lose in losers bracket to Peppino in round 4.

Just how in the fuck has Doomguy had such terrible luck in these tournaments. He has consistently taken top seeds but has failed to get into the Elite 8 every year.
He's not even hated. If anything, people love this guy. But for whatever reason, he keeps getting cocked blocked. What is going on with this guy?

He's just a bit boring desu

Which is funny in hindsight because I remember there was that meme at the time comparing him with some fag from Detroit BH and it was all like "haha fuck those character depth fags, muh silent protagonist all the way". But I think that in a character contest, you need a bit of personality to push forward.

I think Doom Eternal having a mixed reception on the board has done him in, along with the bad bracket luck. It doesn't help that his poll picture this year used Doomslayer instead of the guy.

It's interested that even 47 is a threat to Doomguy solely because of that meme match up people want

Yeah, this year felt like a turning point. It's a damn shame, but maybe he'll finally have another elite run next time. After all, remember Midna losing to Chie in 2021? Kek

Doomguy's problem is he's a former runner-up and runner-up's are ____ and ________.

Update. He was able to get into the Elite 8 of Co-op this year. If that means anything.

While true, the Slayers were also the only one of the expected semi-finalists to not actually make the cut, even with that being arguably the closest match.

I wonder if The Slayers losing had something to do with them beating the Kings of the Ring.
I remember some people were bitter about that matchup

I think Lords of Chaos would've attracted more spitevotes since people seemed more bitter about them beating After-Hours Club. It was a close match all things considered though.

And Slayers take 5th place by a landslide.

Two vote difference isn't a landslide by any means but they were unquestionably well-liked as seeing they basically got the lowest amount of votes for 8th place.

Doomguy got to round 4 in /cov/ with Hazbin Hotel Charlie (whom he already won with in Temp's tiny-ass tourney that wasn't counted). Being almost completely silent, they proceeded to lose to Doof and Wily.

Technically it wasn't a crown steal since Temp's tournament didn't have a real crown in the first place, it was just a shitty paper burger king crown with the text "ur winr" crudely painted on with a half-eaten crayon
It wasn't until the actual /cov/ tournament they made a real crown for the winners

>Doomguy couldn't even win back his /cov/ crown
And so, Doomguy continues being a king without no crown. He really didn't deserve to win after killing off Alex's campaign

I'm glad my campaign affected some people but I'm gonna ask you guys not to complain about Alex losing too much so that I don't look entitled.

I might try him for King but it's unlikely he'll qualify, being from a long-dead franchise tends to do that to ya. Co-Op could be a better opportunity but I'm not yet sure who to pair him with.

...I mean, Wesker would theoretically work, but let's not go there just yet.

I enjoy his campaign a lot and would love to see him qualify in king. I mean shit, Ezio nearly got in last year.
Mercer and Kaneki/Lucy in a hypothetical /v/a/ would be really funny.

Maybe I'm an outsider but am I the only one who doesn't see this guy as a jobber?
Made a finalist then had some fatigue but can make round 4s at times, but mostly was not in the Schizo alliances that overtook /v/ and hence didn't do as great. That's more then a lot of the actual jobbers on /co/ and he doesn't seem so prominent that he should be expected to be finals each time
