And just like that, this marks the end of the first tournament of villains! Thank you to prominent OC makers like Psyanon and Boarbro who found this tournament, as well as everyone else who participated, voted, and campaigned! Stay tuned for Heroes of /co/ in a couple of weeks!

Feel free to use this post as an OC anchor in case you're still working on something.

As you can see by the OP, I've made a separate archive for the audio OC. In the following days, I plan to fill it with the stuff from the tournament, as well as create a MEGA back-up just in case.

Heroes of /co/ should start on the 28th, but probably 2-3 hours earlier than usual to account for any potential delays.

Now, I'll repost this in the Afterparty thread as a primer: If you make a Results pic for villains and then a stealth thread on /v/, BEWARE THIS SCHIZO who seemingly creates and/or jumps into AC threads to stir shit up.
He's not immediately obvious at first but you can feel him from his negativity.
Pic rel is the ultimate proof of his existence.

I'm going to miss all of this now that it's over. I hope Louie and Kiyotaka get a chance in King this year and I'm definitely voting for all the rest of the three elite eights from the /v/ side tournaments. Thanks for giving those two a chance, guys. I'm still working on all the OC I promised. Sorry again about delaying the seven deadly sins OC so much. I get pretty bad with things near the end of the tournament. I'm still working on an elite eight Heroes OC I dropped to get work on /v/illains stuff.

I gave it my all for a whole week despite work and other shit, but I did get pretty far last time. Think the main issue was my lack of campaigning opponents until Hunters, you don't get much buzz that way.

Now, I was also running a ton of other characters (including my actual favorite villain) which distracted me plenty.
>Torres (of course)
>Yuuki Terumi (forma de Hazama)
>SHODAN
>My Eliph-ass
>MY BONES ACHE, MIMA RETURNS!
>To a much lesser extent, Koishi
And finally my boys and gals who didn't make it
>Yuuma Toutetsu the GOAT
>Terrorists (Counter Strike)
>not deadly anomalies, nor dangerous mutants or anarchists but BANDITS from Stalker
It got a bit hectic to keep up.

Okay now that the tournament is finally over, it's time to reveal mains for the upcoming Heroes of /co/ so far

Starting at the first two pictures, the one at the left is shit at talking and always fuck things up. He does however, punches the guy at the right lots of times; the guy on the right is much shorter but somehow scores more pussy than the other guy.

Honestly, I did wanted to nominate both of them for a new Tag-Team tournament, but I find putting them on Heroes would be more fun. Yes, they're both from the same series in case you don't know.

So the characters you see here are.........

Exactly how I feel about this, a lot of the roleplayers here make me question if they even understand the source material they're trying to portray, or if they've even played / read it. At most there should only be a single side tournament before Queen & King, the ones that have happened just blend together in my memory because of how similar to each other they feel. Next set of characters, they are both from different series but they do have some bit of rivalry towards each other (at least mostly from the guy on the right). One says it's a piece of cake and the other gets shit from his own family, especially from his brother.

These are definitely the more easier ones to guess due to that one anon correctly guessing it.

Terumi's very high on my favorite list for a decade now. Issue this tourney was that he didn't have much momentum unlike Torres, and I'm also into AC more right now since the franchise isn't in Zombie mode.
Could get into why I like him a lot, but he just plays a villain much better than what I've seen in most fighting games.
The story of Blazblue also turns your head to mush to try and comprehend, so "getting it" and his place in it was really satisfying.

On the topic of Mima, her campaign was very silly to pull together since I only nominated her as a joke. The meme about her "returning" is about as old as 2hu's Windows popularity itself, so I meshed it with PC98's more "comedic" style over Windows 2hu to make her a funny jobber villain stealing other villain's places in games as revenge.

I'm curious. What were your expectations? Roleplaying is such a crucial part of these tournaments it almost seems weird someone wouldn't even suspect it'd be a thing.

Though I will say that Scout did get shat on unfairly during Heroes. I kind of enjoyed it at first because of TF2 being such a /v/ darling and being able to go far even without much campaigning, but Scout didn't deserve to get memed so hard. If that's any consolation, I don't think it will affect his chances in the main tournaments.

For some reason I had a hunch you were the Yuuma/Mima/Koishi anon. And your Terumi campaign while short-lived has honestly really piqued my interest in Blazblue, or at the very least in his character. I'm going to assume you were the one anon posting as Marisa and Sanae during Heroes as well? Very good stuff.
Also, I can't quite put my finger on why, but I think I know who you campaign for in the main tournament.

If there's one thing wrong with these tournaments, is how certain things latch on characters and just ruin them forever. Like Jon Arbuckle, for example. I like the character a lot, but apparently /co/ decided to make him a scat-fetish character or something, so I can never do anything with him because people will just keep on coming back to it. Or, in the case of this tourney, how Eggman is now just obsessed with traps.

>>48841
You must keep in mind that a lot of the characters getting campaigned are done by people who campaign for multiple characters. Considering the low amount of people here, I think the amount of OC made is actually quite respectable.

While Eggman could have done more, the whole trap thing was handled well and pretty varied. We had stuff like the falseflag-o-matic, the rants, him trying to get all the young male contestants, and his stupid matchup with Erika where he kept threatening to turn her into a boy. Considering how Wily was the more vocal one in the Co-op team, I feel like had the one Eggman poster not made that rant leading to this, Eggman would have just been quiet and jobbed early like Wario.

These next ones are rather obscure (at least if you haven't spent time around /co/ storytimes), they're all from the same series which is very comfy and has some following from said board. They are a group; one on the upper-left is the leader, the one on the upper-right is a fan-favorite with /co/ anons, the one on the lower-left is quite the airhead, and the one on the lower-right is quite thirsty for....something.

I have to admit, these are the most unusual picks I have came up with since I'm not sure if they're even /co/ material. But then again, tournaments often have even stranger picks like John Major for Tag-Team and Pong for /v/ Heroes. Plus, an /co/ anon tried nominating one of them for Ms /co/, but couldn't do so due to the lack of replies.

Enough with the talk, time to reveal them and they are......

Sadly, that's sort of the downside of /tnt/ tournies. Normal ones usually have 10 threads with 600+ posts per round. These usually only reach 500~ per thread.
That's like 90% of activity gone. Which is good since it allows for more out-there picks with support to make a good impression instead of the usual "TF2 Metal Gear Touhou" theater but also leaves several problems. Namely if your character doesn't have a dedicated autist

Or you could try AC7, since the games are pretty standalone, but it still has a lot of references and development hell muddying it (sans the DLC for this latter part) ontop of being very "return to form" ish.

Thoughts on the tourneys:

>/co/
I'm sure Fang is a fine character, but I honestly think it was just that S2 of Primal got everyone hyped. Shirley fans were really nice, and the tourney got me to watch Courage, and holy kino that was a great show. Zorak was easily the best winner, and I've no problems. Just goes to show what good campaigning can do.

>/v/
Gotta be honest, not a big fan. Nothing against Midna or Jack, but they never really screamed "vidya royalty" to me.

>/tnt/
HATED the Co-Op ending, cause the declining input was sad and every team I had rooted for had lost. Barely checked out Heroes cause work got in the way, but I liked what I saw. Villains was kino, second only by Mr. /co/. I had a lot of fun campaiging and seeing other campaigns.

I like Fang and voted for her in part because her OC is legendary, but the on-going drama and NSA's incompetence kinda ruined it for me. Zorak is frankly a great winner but almost anyone from that top 8 would have been just as good. Definitely the best 2022 tournament.
>/v/
I REALLY like Midna, but I understand where you are coming from with her victory maybe feeling a little anticlimactic in a way. As a campaigner you could tell the threads wanted Hornet or Alice to win, not her. As for king, Jack didn’t deserve the victory at all in my opinion. I have a lot of doubts of how much staying power he will have on the board, because he feels like a character who would have been early round fodder in any other year.

Didn’t like co-op for the simple reason that it felt like everyone was still sore after king, and the top 8 was just okay. Heroes and Villains have both been fucking great.

I considered doing that with Louie by having Olimar coming here at the end of each thread to the witness the aftermath of each of Louie's matches on a quest to bring Louie home but it would have been too much with all the OC I was already making and I wanted Louie to stand more on his own. The video I made about Olimar leaving Louie behind during UNO and the writefagging I did of The President telling Olimar that Louie became the Endless Sorcerer and they needed to get him back to get the gold with the faux painting OC were remnants of that idea I thought were fun enough to do on their own.

Midna is an extremely popular coompick, her winning one year isn't surprising in the least and 2022 was her lucky year. Also, Twilight Princess is a good game. Jack, however, was bullshit. I hope you don't feel too bad about how this tournament turned out. Based on what you said, I assume you were planning to mainly focus on Roland and Bernkastel, but things didn't go the way you planned with how the former didn't qualify and the latter got blown out in Round 4, and then you got sick for the finale on top of that. But I still liked those two and your other campaigns. I was half-expecting Erika to take it based on the stellar campaign from Co-Op and the previous fun matches she's had in this tournament.

I also think it's a bit unfair that people are starting to accuse Dracula of rigging. While you didn't do a lot with him, he wasn't completely silent and I remember him having some sort of a presence for every single round. It's not that unlikely for a character who's already popular and has some consistent thread presence to get far.

>>48936
Yeah, I had planned on doing the most for Roland, Bernkastel, and von Karma, although for the latter, I got distracted with Luigi's Mansion and didn't do as much as I wanted to with him. Bernkastel and von Karma lost to good characters at least, and I was able to help out Karlanon with his campaign by posting as Roland. I had a ton of fun posting with Karlanon so I hope he comes back if another one of these happens.
Dracula was admittedly a last-minute main of mine after Roland didn't qualify, so I was less passionate with him this go around, hence him not being as active, but I still liked making his OC, especially the one of him throwing Grimm, Rance, and Yugi into the ocean.
I don't mind Dracula and Erika making it far, but I think their opponents in quarter-finals should've won over them. I thought they had the better campaigns and are better characters. It didn't help that I was already feeling fatigued from campaigning by that point, so having to do stuff for two more rounds and then proceeding to get sick wasn't fun. I still really liked this tournament though and I'd definitely come back if there's a next time.

It's all appreciated. Speaking of the participants here, I want everyone to know about my characters here:

I wish I could have done more for them, but you guys have more interesting ideas to share for your characters and I've said before I wanted to help others with their campaigns, which I am happy I did. Since Co-op I don't have a predetermined character to campaign for. Maybe Eggman for King

Exactly! I hope someone for king does more with the Mecha-Chris stuff going around. As for robot characters, the only ones that stand a chance (thankfully) weren't nominated here so they can return for queen (Curly Brace and Roll Caskett). The only one I didn't expect to see in Heroes was Sage, I thought she was going to qualify for Villains. There's also Claptrap anon but I'm not sure if he will show up again.

For these two and Glamrock Freddy in Heroes, I think you should've tried something new since it felt way too similar to Glamgals' campaign.

He's cool. I wouldn't mind seeing him qualify again for King. His match with Flowey was fun.
>Mecha Sonic
I liked posting with you during his match against Binah.

Also, since you like robots so much, you better have voted for Angela, librarian and sworn enemy of AM.

Thanks, yeah. Starting from here I'm looking forward to create a different way of campaigning. Focusing mostly on Dr. Eggman and his robots. The thing is I also want to do requests but it feels like it's something I must discard in order to help my own characters to proceed too. I didn't vote for AM because I was confident he was going to be a high seed nonetheless. I wonder how things would have played out if people didn't forget about GLaDOS

I actually remembered about GlaDOS, I just deliberately didn't nominate her because she's known for being a silent killer and I didn't want extra competition like this for my main. But if no one campaigned for her, she would've probably been out the same time as Wesker at the latest.

Only time a Project Moon character made it to Elite Eight was Ayin in Heroes, who I also campaigned for, although it's kinda funny that he way outperformed her seeing as he can't stand Angela at all.

>And your Terumi campaign while short-lived has honestly really piqued my interest in Blazblue, or at the very least in his character.
Forgot to reply to this, but Blazblue is part Fighting Game, part Visual Novel. Though the divide gets stronger after Continuum Shift because they stop inserting lots of fights into story mode and make it only a few. Then there's Arcade Mode for short stories/smaller story segments.
Calamity Trigger has the complete version of the first game's story (which involves timeloops as "routes" that you get through by completing fights with certain conditions), but Continuum Shift Extend has a much quicker "catch-up" type version of Calamity Trigger's story you can also take, along with its own set of Timeloop stories.
Sadly the Calamity Trigger port on PC is old and very scuffed, but if one just wants story mode it works better than nothing.
It gets kind of confusing due the metaphysics of the series, but in essence the 4 games are a very "otaku-tribute" ish retelling of the Tale of Susano'o and uses it to forward its themes.

Also one really fun part of story mode are the gag reels (at least in Continuum Shift and forward). Completely humorous segments where the story takes a break and you get to watch the characters to do stupid shit.
Also, the english localization/dub isn't so bad, though the Japanese original is still best. Recommend testing what you want to go with, although Central Fiction lacks the dub (to the dismay of the voice actors, who actually loved the characters)

It's fine lol. Torres personality wise seems to be very confident and arouses a lot of will in his crew, which is why he's so effective ontop of his pre-existing skill. When he's pressure however, he seems to engage with very little fear (like he's already sunk all his costs into his stuff) and digs either deeper or spins a more "fortunate" take. I don't want to spoil him completely, again, but he's a genuine expert at morally rousing (manipulating) his crew. The only question being if it is out of sheer malice or not, with our implied judge of his character being the Glowie who enlists (you)r Squadron to hunt down the Alicorn in-game to deprive Erusea of its superweapons

Oh yeah, it was an audio drama I made during semis. I should've mentioned that when I made those posts. Here you go. Byakuren appears at 42 seconds in:
https://voca.ro/1gjKu6VMcNsz

The idea came to me to have Byakuren and Marisa help Erika since all three are witches with series associated with /jp/. I wanted to draw those two as Umineko sprites too, but I started feeling worse while I was making the audio and I couldn't do it.

Not him but he AI voice cloning software that really gets any use right now is either
>https://play.ht/
Which is free with a trial, but the quality's a bit wonky even if it can accurately capture a lot of voices.
Pretty much the first big break in AI voice cloning which made a lot of waves on /v/. You need to pay for it now to get Voice Cloning though, otherwise you just have "generated voices" with limited expressiveness.
And something way more round about would be something like
>https://github.com/RVC-Project/Retrieval-based-Voice-Conversion-WebUI/blob/main/docs/README.en.md
Which is mostly used for music, and I haven't really figured out how to use it myself yet (though it'd make for fun stuff since I know some singing/recording).
For the easiest editing experience (once you learn it a bit) I recommend having REAPER, which works fine in Trial mode forever.
Of course, there's a little bit more to it (like plugins, etc) but that's the basics. I use Soulseek to get HQ soundtrack files as well.

I used elevenlabs.io for that and all the other AI voice stuff I did throughout this tournament (except for John's lines in that one audio drama with him and Byakuren. That was just a text-to-speech program used in FAITH). It's a few bucks for voice cloning, although I was able to get 80% off the cheapest subscription, which was nice. I like how it was able to convert the Japanese voice lines into good-sounding English voices, which is why I went with it. I just wish I tweaked Dracula's voice more to sound more accurate to his SOTN voice.

EPILOGUE -NEAR THE BORDER- ACE COMBAT Special Program: Music Beyond the Sky Vol.4youtube thumb
This whole thing is a bit of an AC04 tribute, wherein the story is dictated to you by a kid who got caught up in the war. So I figured melding that game's credits with the tourney would turn up nicely since you end up owning Torres (albeit he is not named until AC7) in it as the player character.
I've also today tried to see if I can use that other AI to make Torres sing songs, but it didn't turn out so well.
Listen at your own peril. It's a song about getting an anchor shoved up your ass.

Amazing shit, thanks for sticking around for this tournament. Are you gonna come back for Torres in King?
I'm not gonna do stuff for Erika in Queen. I was a lot less passionate about her in this tournament compared to Co-op, hence her being less active, and there's other characters that I would enjoy to campaign for a lot more.

Also, what's that song playing in the background for most of the audio drama? It kinda sounds like a song played towards the end of LobCorp, but it's not quite it.

I'm probably gonna back Torres for King, though given his last seeds in 2021 and 2022 I doubt he'll enter the bracket unless /tnt/'s vote is enough. Even then he'd probably be pretty low seed since Ace Combat is a niche kind of game.
Sad, I'd like Erika for Queen too, but I guess Bern or Beatrice would work fine enough. Have to hope the funposters against Umineko don't turn up, though.

I would like to see Erika qualify, but I need a break from campaigning for Umineko characters right now. For Queen, I plan on making a push for Binah, Franziska von Karma, and Terra Branford.

I'd love a Final Fantasy girl campaign that wasn't Tifa for once (or at least, not addled with her extremely autistic waifufags), so go right ahead.
Back in 2020, I'm fairly confident that the reason she lost wasn't just cause 2hus were flooding /v/ to free from /jp/, but just cause her posters were really annoying. That's what I remember at least.

I understand but it still hurts. I want her to get in Queen after the wild ride that was Co-op and /v/illains so I will still try to do something for her if I'm not burned out if /cov/ happens. She definitely was still a highlight despite the issues that you came through in /v/illains with the Canbine and Eggman fights being great, but I understand you need a break from Umineko. Hope you're doing better.

I'm glad you committed to it, this is awesome and really comfy.

Now I must ask you an important question every audio drama maker gets asked at some point in their life: Do you keep transcripts of your recordings? There were a few times throughout the tournament when the transmission effect made it hard to make out some characters' words, which I think is inevitable for this format.
>>49710
Don't worry. That just means someone else will have to take up Erika's mantle for Queen. I'll be looking forward to your campaigns for others.

I don't actually keep transcripts, though I do remember pretty well what I made them say. In rare cases, I've made transcripts (for example for Torres/Alicorn vs Hunter/Geralt) but those that I had were lost when my SSD went kaput just a two weeks ago.
I did write an outline for this audio though, but no dialogue was kept in a transcript. Most of the time I wing it, cause you tend to need to "modify" dialogue for ElevenLabs to make the best of it.
I've heard they were going to increase the number of features (talking speed, etc) for ElevenLabs but they haven't gotten there yet, so all you have to work with are phonetics and "..." to try and control how the dialogue sounds. That's the main weakness of the software that really prevents a transcript from being useful.

It'll be tough getting her in over the FFVII girls, but I won't give up. I know another anon was gonna push for her too, so I hope she can get in. And yes, Tifa's posters were very annoying back in 2020. Probably my least favorite part of that tournament. Weirdly enough, I look back on Qo/v/ 2020 fondly despite it being a mess in the threads for the most part. Maybe I'm just crazy.
>>49717
You can go ahead and campaign for her if you'd like. I'd like to see what other people come up with for her. Depending on how qualifiers goes, I might not be done with blue-haired women. God I hope Binah doesn't get 3-rule'd by Ligma Company. I still like Angela tho.
I'm doing better now, thanks. I'm not a /co/anon but I'm gonna participate in Heroes of /co/ later this week, although with a lot more writefagging. Hopefully my mains there can be just as good of a thread presence as my mains in the /v/ side tournaments.

>Weirdly enough, I look back on Qo/v/ 2020 fondly despite it being a mess in the threads for the most part. Maybe I'm just crazy.
You're not alone, I liked it a lot as well cause it was relatively chill and while being "safe" at the same time. The only real main issues with the tournament was the rampant seethe at the end, but one side clearly took it as funposting while the other didn't. For Ko/v/2020 it was the safe ending that was kind of a bummer, but the winner was really good anyway.

I think one weird thing about 2020 is that Queen that year had basically no OC (like two or three dozen pieces at most, some of which were never reuploaded into Boorus), while King did. Creating a kind of situation where it feels like a lot of people who talk about Qo/v/2020 weren't really there and only joined in after when /v/ tourneys proved successful they started getting more organized. Kind of shows with 2021 because both Queen and King that year absolutely swamped Qo/v/2020 in activity.

Also Yuuka is well known for her murderhobo quotes like "Genocide is just a game" which I feel would play really well with how I used Mima previously. Makes for funny bullying.
