Discussion died down but what happened was still so notable I think Gadget is for sure in, maybe some of the others. Round 1 exit but it's now or never

Oh god, oh fuck, it’s almost already time for the 5th annual tournament. This is gonna be my fourth year participating but I can already tell and anticipate this being a real nasty year because EVERYONE from the first 3 years are eligible, last year had its entire elite eight filled with newcomers. And because I backed jucika during year 3 I’ll support her once more and mothra because of her good track record of taking down potential heavy hitters at round 1

my predictions for ms. /co/ 2022:
>both ENA and Loona's Redemption
>Marie's returning (the one who hates horses, not the other one who has unhealthy obsession towards Double D)
>Starfire and Kim Possible NOT making it to Elite Eight for the first time.
>Beatrice but a different character, not the bird one.
>more newcomers than last year (member Molly McGee?)
>My Most Wanted Newcomer of the Year: Francine Smith from American Dad
>Jessica Rabbit (finally) made it to Elite Eight.
>My Most-Wanted Winners are Jessica Rabbit, Chel, Shego, Gwen from TD and Dr. Ghastly.

people have tried to do that but it's never caught on. and trying to do gimmicks in the early rounds is iffy, there are too many characters that nobody cares about, drawfags will just draw the few that they like. which is already what happens, but with more restrictions.
and let's be honest, most calls for more themed rounds are people who can't draw asking the people who can draw to gib free art.

Is it weird that I feel basically zero hype for Ms. /co/ this year?
Sure, all the tournament regulars are back, but also all the tournament regulars are back. I don't just see these characters in every Ms. /co/, I see these characters every day in softcore porn threads on the board at large.
It doesn't help that Ms. /co/ is the most, for lack of a better term, autistic of the three tournaments. Mr. /co/ and Tag Team are figuratively autistic, but Ms. /co/ is that combination of taking things too seriously and extreme pettiness that makes for a very tepid experience. Even when things get "exciting" it usually amounts to a bunch of people getting angry and yelling at each other.
This would be where I said that maybe it's high time I took the CHAOSpill, but I don't really want that either. After what happened last year I'd say we're due for a tournament where we just play it straight as a popularity contest. I just happen to not care for or actively dislike the popular characters.
I think I just want Ms. /co/ to be over with.

it's only one month left before ms. /co/ 2022 started.

so i'm gonna talking about 8 girls that i really want to see return this year.

*i'm not including girls who's already in Elite Eight before, so Shego and Chel are off the list then.

>#8 - Marie (Craig of the Creek)
i do enjoy COTC but i know it's not everyone's cup of tea but i did not expect Marie made it to the bracket last year.
granted, girls that are considered "Literal Who?" are very unlikely to return (especially for Wendy's Mascot's case) but i give Marie a exception.
Marie is such a based character in this show. although she's doesn't appear as much as Jessica, Maney, Sparkle Cadet, Maya, etcs. she's still entertaining.
you could also feel bad for her considering her endless suffering from horseshit from her friends.
however because she's so low on the list, i'm not sure she's gonna return this year or not due to her already winning a Literal Who? Award.

>#7 - Buttercup (The Powerpuff Girls '98)
Buttercup is always my favorite Powerpuff from the trio, as well as my favorite tomboy girl.
yes i know she has bad moments like her being greedy by collecting tooths but she's still my favorite.
hoping she made it to Elite Eight instead of Blossom and Bubbles (no offense)

>#6 - ENA (ENA)
her videos are so fucking weird, like Xavier: Renegade Angel level of weird but at the same time i can totally see why people want her to be in Elite Eight this year.

>#5 - Tulip Olsen (Infinity Train)
Infinity Train is a wonderful show and Book One is easily the best. it's depressing and emotional sure but in the wonderful way like Moral Orel's Third Season.
Book Two and Three are also great but Book One feels so special.
that's why i really want to see Tulip make it far this year despite the show's ending last year.

>#4 - Gwen (Total Drama)
there's alot of girls that was named "Gwen" but i think this Gwen from Total Drama is the best.
although she did have rough moments (especially in All Stars), she's still the best girl in the show.
not to mention the fact she won in the first season makes me really happy. (though Owen's winning is also good)
so yeah, i rather take this Gwen from TD over the other Gwen from Ben 10.

>#3 - Maria Rivera (El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera)
similar to Marie i also didn't expect Maria (Manny's Mom) made it to the bracket last year.
and honestly, she totally deserves it because woah mama she's hot.
not only that but i also find her mother/son bonding moments with Manny really charm and sweet.
easily the best nicktoon mom/mum besides Helen from It's Pony and Miriam from Harvey Beaks.

>#2 - Major Doctor Ghastly (Evil Con Carne)
i'm so glad she made a return last year after three years of absent in 2018.
i always love her for its crazy and funny moments as well as her crazy experiments.
and in my opinion, the best female character played by Grey DeLisle (yes better than Frankie, Azula and even Mandy)

>#1 - Jessica Rabbit (Who Framed Roger Rabbit)
i'm still surprised to this day that Jessica Rabbit, one of the most hottest fictional female character of all time, still hasn't made it to Elite Eight yet since ms. /co/ was introduced in 2018.
and it's obvious why she's in my number one spot.

what do you think?

I'm not entirely buying the 'heavy hitters' thing. Last year has taught me not to make solid predictions. Besides characters fluctuating popularity over years there are too many tournament gaming factors. At most I'll say a middling-top character will win, probably one that's been just barely under the top-dog radar but still notable (like Grievous, Mrs. Monarch, and Tom were).

Grievous is an interesting example, he’s been a fan favorite but wasn’t one of the usual big heavy hitters, had he not win this year he would’ve been on the heavy hitter list.

Posting a lengthy analysis on tourney popularity an anon wrote down last year.

>There are 4 types of series
>>low presence minority (LP-MIN)
>>high presence minority (HP-MIN)
>>low presence majority (LP-MAJ)
>>high presence majority (HP-MAJ)

>LP-MIN would rarely if ever make it past the qualifiers as it would contain shows with a very small board presence and very few watchers, this would be something like your Final Space or Kid Cosmic (this category is hard to get examples for by nature as it relates to the obscure, forgettable and unpopular) where many voters might not even have heard of these shows and if they did they don't watch them or like them. An LP-MIN will likely never place beyond the bottom rungs. You could argue Jucika is an example of a LP-MIN character making it phenomenally far but I feel like examples of ex-FOTM characters should be distinguished from genuinely unpopular shows—as Jucika did once enjoy high presence.

>HP-MIN are your semi popular newer shows that are mainly popular only within the cartoon watching crowd. They change constantly and sometimes evolve into LP-MAJ or on rare occasions HP-MAJ after time or for the latter a serious boost in popularity. They have a lot of threads or very consistent fanbases on /co/ where every browser has at least heard the name. These are your amphibia, your She-Ra, your Emmy, your Owl House. A few do well depending on the show's popularity but being new and not mainstream outside of cartoons means they don't have majority votes. A lot of them do get past the qualifiers just through their fanbases dedication to their representative but fold quickly to MAJ shows. These are your second most common delegate.

>LP-MAJ are your old famous shows, ones the demographic grew up on or were once HPMAJ previously. While threads for these shows are rare, insignificant, or otherwise unfocussed, the vast majority of people have seen these shows at least a little. This is your EEnE, Foster's Home, SU, Jenny the teenage robot, Teen Titans. These shows do very well a lot of the time, as while they're rarely the most talked about, when voters are faced with one of the newer shows they might not have watched they vote for the old show they have. Right now all of the winners are from this category (however that's because SU is NOW a LP MAJ). These are your most common delegate.

>The most innately powerful of the category is HP-MAJ. They are shows that have a high board presence and a majority watcher rate. These are usually very mainstream shows with massive or dedicated followings. Shows are rarely in this category long, but those that remain in it are always heavyweights. These contain your Invincible, Avatar. SU, at the time of winning with Spinel and sweeping the comp (even if semirigged) was an HP-MAJ at the time; due to the popularity of these shows, they often find themselves spite voted because people are either tired of their presence on the board or aware of the risk their strength has to the competition. Very few shows are in this group and very few stay for long. It mainly contains overwhelming popular mainstream shows that have also struck a cord with /co/ and any tourists to /co/. These shows are often highly seeded.

I think most of us can more or less agree the only reason these characters keep getting qualifyed is out of /co/'s hangup with their source material. Otherwise, they are a waste of a slot and I should have stepped out a while ago already.
>Susie
Susie was a prominent FotM in the past I'm sure a lot of new posters can't even recognize (which explains her bad performance in the bracket), but if she has managed to qualify for every edition before it would be strange if she failed this year.

>Ahsoka
Ahsoka is interesting because she has typically performed worse than her male tournament counterpart despite starring in quite a lot of things all through the tournament's life, yet always ends up doing worse than the previous year. This most certainly has to do with her live action debut having a mixed reception, and the fact the amount of people who dislike her outweights those who in turn don't.

At this point most the girls here (including the Elite 8s who make it when eligible) are eternal, same with the guys list, so almost all will make it. Only a few might fall out of favor or have an off-year and miss out. Some guesses (which many people here seem to share)
>Ahsoka
Never had really any chance anyway but now for sure never winning because of Star Wars winning before. She might make it this time but she’s soon falling off like Kuzco. Might be this year
>Creepy Susie
One of the legacy /co/ board waifus, but Ms /co/ is never kind to those. She hanged around longer then I thought, but like Leggy Lamb who hanged a few years then fell off entirely she’ll fall out of favor soon enough due to obscurity
>Demencia
Unsure on this one but I feel it’s very much FOTM for something thats never brought up anymore. Could see her dropping but I think she’s in
>Star
Increasingly falling in rankings (she was 99th last year) as the show’s finale passed and her and the entire show fell out of favor. Hekapoo is popular enough to last a little while but Star is long overdo to not make the bracket
>Jinx
Last year she made it by 1 vote. Any character who is that on the edge of the bracket’s cutoff will find themselves on the outside at least once, it’s definite she’ll drop out upcoming. Question is can she hang for this year

that's kinda the point.
to me FARTS is not as much a group of characters as it is a convenient name for a huge problem with Ms. /co/: most of the mainstays are just anon's first childhood crush that's he's still hung up on a decade later. every tournament has recurring characters, but if you look at, say, Mr. /co/, it feels like the A-listers there have done a lot more to earn their position.
>J. Jonah Jameson is mostly remembered for his live-action portrayal in the Raimi trilogy, but he's a good character and an essential part of the Spider-man cast
>Hank Hill, Courage, and the like are good characters from good shows.
>The Monarch is the king of RP and the Cocoon in general has produced a ton of good OC
>Skeletor and his bone buddies are in a similar boat, and are a great source of hype.
I could go on, but you get the point. They all have something that makes them memorable and that leads to very lively events. Genndywank notwithstanding.
To be a mainstay on Ms. /co/, you need to have been in a show from the 2000s. That, or a designated contrarian pick like Mothra. I think that's why Ms. /co/ feels so stale. and it's not just the stench of last year, I was pretty unimpressed with Ms. /co/ 2020 as well.
what do you guys think

Whether or not the popular girls are actually good characters from good shows is pretty much entirely opinion. Personally I’ve always been for a pure purpose popularity tournament, so I don’t see an issue with anon’s voting for them even if it’s ‘boring’. Frankie or Raven absolutely should have won 2019 (the last chance of a ‘pure’ popularity year) too but got screwed so I’ve always kind of wanted a crown for them. Paradoxically having been so popular has basically ensured they will never win though. So I wouldn’t worry about them too much and the people who hate ‘boring’ results get their wish. The winner will be an upper-mid character that’s not too controversial for whatever reason. I think that’s almost certain.

I like the mainstays of both. I think even characters like JJJ are propped up at least partly on 2000's nostalgia so that doesn't seem like a huge difference between the two competitions. Like half the Elite 8 in every Mr. /co/lympus was relatively new in the 2000's and at the peak of popularity then.

The main difference is we tend to vote for the girls who make us feel funny in our pants in Ms. /co/ while that component is almost totally absent in Mr. /co/. The characters themselves can be great but why and how we vote is different. This also leads to different energies in the threads, because as someone already said, waifu wars are serious business. Ultimately I like both for competitions for different reasons. Ms. /co/ gets me more invested because it's waifus, but Mr. /co/ as an event I can enjoy more because I care less.

What you are describing has been obvious for a long time already. The crucial difference radicates in that most Ms. /co/ mainstays get their reputation from their sexual appeal as waifus, meanwhile Mr. /co/lympus is a proper CHARACTER tournament first and foremost. The fact a lot of heavy hitters happen to fit into standard husbando types is more of an added bonus.

Yeah, the idea of Ms. /co/ being a pure popularity contest was a fleeting dream that was wounded in 2019 and 2020 and firmly died last year, and It's unclear whether the All-Stars or blowback from last year will be enough to bring it back. (I'm talking specifically about Ms. /co/, Mr. /co/ had a far murkier start, but never dipped quite as low)

Year 1 was pure popularity, plain and simple, and it was pure popularity among a much smaller pool than any other year, more comparable to Tag Team Tournament in terms of numbers.(Hence Black Canary making Elite 8)

Year 2 was, for the most part, more of the same, just for more people. Spinel rigging and the drama that followed broke it. Spinel's popularity itself was real and organic, she got to Elite 8 pretty damn fair and square, but her victory there was illegitimate. Her beating Velma is dubious and the Top 4 utter rigged bullshit. By all accounts, Frankie or perhaps Raven were the true winners of that year(who would have won between them will be debated for years), and were robbed.

Year 3 also started off with some degree of a return, and the blowback wasn't too bad as Year 1 didn't have that many people. SCK Coalition girls still did ok. Firstly, Spinel single handily destroyed the chances of any recent FOTM characters taking a win, even if they are elligable to qualify. Secondly, this year showed how less popular characters could game the system. Jucika was the closest thing to a FOTM winner you could get because she was old and obscure, her board popularity recent and organic. And then you had the Monarchs, who started RP Campaigning for pretty much the first time ever and road to victory off of it. Granted, the cancellation helped, but the fact she was the only one with significant RP lead her forward, and lead to pretty much everyone copying the strategy in Ms. /co/.

Now in Year 4, the FARTS girls are back, but by now there's a growing resentment against the bigname girls. People think them winning would be boring. So they get spitevoted, hard, and none of them see the Elite 8. Of course, the spitevoting got far worse, also targeting anyone who seemed like a up and comer or a threat, so potential dark horses like ENA or Izzy got sniped, and this continued until the final round when Johanna and Hilda were disposed of for the same reasons and Betty won despite getting basically no attention until the final round.

Who knows what Year 5 will bring. I personally feel Frankie and Raven deserve the victory they were robbed of in Year 2.

While 2 characters from the same series snuck their way in, we did also get Bellum, Dominator, Eris, and that Dark Horse Pauling.

I just wonder how many FOTMs are going to get BTFO in the nomination round. Picrel and Norma from Deadendia have dedicated waifufags

I'd argue all the tournaments sort of follow this, including /v/, with /co/ fore-running how other board tournaments would turn out. Year 1 is the 'purest', year 2 you don't have the original E-8 but it's still straightforward (but then a Spinel/Reimu seems to happen kek). Year 3 is when the tournament starts becoming more like a game. The winner becomes less 'Ms./Mr. [board]', and more 'Ms./Mr. year tournament'. The tournament ceases to be a vehicle of character celebration and becomes more the point in itself, I mean. Male tournaments have less vitriol but are sort of similar. Batter was an interesting, generally agreeable pick, not an Armstrong or Dante. Similar to Tom or Grievous.
So my prediction is /v/'s year 4 will be similar to /co/'s year 4.
/mlp/ tournaments are a whole other deal, i gather, but the size and nature of their board is different.
>>10202
I'm the one that largely pushed that FARTS stuff last year and I regret it. I thought it'd be funny and a banner to get behind. But I ended up feeling responsible for about half of why ms. 2021 was so shit.

Hello /tnt/,
I have been working on the new sheets for Ms. /co/. As well as making a better template for all tourneys so if I were to disappear then others can get the tourney up and running without starting from scratch.

I have no idea if Stats is coming back and if he does then I'll respectfully drop out of hosting Ms. /co/ and look forward to Mr. /co/ympus.
I'm going to be looking at the date we should start next month. I'm thinking about the first of the month because I work on the second weekend of the month.

I'll also reach out to mods to ensure they know the dates for the tourney so there's less of a hassle.

I'm making the thread template for nominations, Qualifiers, and Rounds. I might need help with collecting names for nominations.

The competition for them was honestly not that great themselves, with most of the characters they went up against being not that big themselves or tainted by fetishfags, Johanna had a lot of great OC, and they became major darkhourses.
TL;DR they had a lot of lucky mach ups along with being backed by OC.
Queen /v/ proves that great OC can help a character no matter how small they may seem. The same just happened to Hilda and Johanna along with the aforementioned lucky match ups.

/co/ really is that fickle. A lot of elite 8 girls get voted out early and a lot of early eliminations make elite 8. This has been going on for years now and Hilda characters weren't even the only example last year, hell, the entire elite 8 last year is an example.
/co/ is a fickle board that is highly influenced by recent events and that's what the tournaments have been for years now.

now for the newcomers that i want to see in ms. /co/ this year.

i only choose four because there isn't that many girls i want to see debuting this year. (or girls i wasn't interest to look forward as newcomers like Sisu from Disney's Last Dragon movie)

(in no particular order)

>#1 - Molly McGee (The Ghost and Molly McGee)
do i really need to explain? there's multiple Molly threads for the last eleven months that reach 500 posts.
and i can totally see why. Molly McGee is a really good/funny character (at least way better than Star Butterfly)
there's also Libby and Molly's Mom: Sharon but Molly herself is the most obvious pick to debut this year.

>#2 - Red McArthur (South Park)
i know there's no way a single South Park girl is gonna be qualified for ms. /co/. Wendy Tasteburger, Sharon Marsh, Heidi Turner or Strong Woman barely made a cut.
but i think Red McArthur is most likely gonna be qualified than any girls in this series and you might be thinking? "why her?" that's because not only she's my favorite South Park girl besides Wendy and Sharon but also there's based moments around her in certain South Park (comfy) threads earlier this year.
that and her unique cards in Phone Destroyer are tiny chances that maybe, MAYBE Red is gonna be qualified.
A Bloodqueen.

>#3 - Tiff Crust (My Life as a Teenage Robot)
i get it, Jenny XJ9 already won the first year of ms. /co/.
but i think Tiff Crust deserves to join miss as well. idk i'm a huge sucker for pigtails girls so that's why i want her to be qualified.

>#4 - Princess Fiona (Shrek)
i can't really explain well why i want Princess Fiona to be qualified. i mean Tigress (another Dreamworks girl) made it in the bracket last year, so why not Fiona?

Joahnna's run is somewhat anomalous to me, though I think think it was rigging, just 80% spite and being a totally non-confrontational character. I don't think OC had THAT much of an impact either because Anne and Eda still got wrecked. At the very least Hilda herself should've went farther than her, but I guess that goes back to /co/'s hangup about loli's (a problem /v/ clearly doesn't have at all).

Awfully broad predictions, but I can't say that they're entirely wrong. I think with the all stars this season, most of the new shit; especially the "brown dyke" collective as /co/ calls it, will be seeing an early grave. Round 2 is as far as they'll go.

Eds are going to make it within the next few years, it’s all about when
Donald, Zuko and Kermit have also been borderline making elite 8 and everyone expects them to make it at some point
Also there was some rather sketchy things to see Hilda make it that far, but she’s never going to win. It’s realistic that one of the Eds could pull a win

If this year's tournament could be organized at least as much as 2020's was, I'd love to. I did unfortunately have to side-step 2021's run because I couldn't be sure what was going on day to day.

My schedule (dials crossed!) should run roughly as:
Ms. /co/lympus - September
Mr. /co/lympus - Early October
Queen /v/ - Early November
King /v/ - Late November
Tag Tournament - December (?)

I'm not sure if I'll do other tournaments, mostly because I don't watch enough shows to have material for other boards.

>>10438
You're correct! See, this is why I do this here, to get the cobwebs out. The only issue, I suppose, is when to produce the shows. I'll have to play it a little by ear, but if there's any big happening, you have my word I'll have something out to commemorate it!

I did some simple maths.
The strongest winners in /co/ ranked by overall winning tournament percentage:
1. Bravo: 72.5%
2. Tom: 65.8%
3. Kronk: 64.5%
4. Jenny: 62.7%
5. Monarch: 60.0%
6. Grievous: 59.3%
7. Spinel: 57.9%
8. Betty: 55.9%

Conclusions:
>Average winning percentage is 62.5%
>Ms. tournament winners are competitively tighter than Mr. (59.1% vs, 65.5% average)
>first year was the overall strongest winners (67.6%), last year the tightest (57.6%)
>Bravo unsurprisingly mogs every other candidate in history, Betty is 'officially' weakest (but there's the you know who issue)
>probably no one will break Johnny Bravo's record but we're likely getting even tighter tournaments and winners as the years go by
Prediction: both Ms. and Mr. winner this year will be the closest yet.

Spinel probably still got to the Top 4 legitmately, not a bad run.

I don't think coom pure and simple has that much influence. I think it's more accurate to say it's almost entirely decided by waifuism (spiting games and memes aside). Coom is a huge aspect of waifusm, but for many it's also largely dependent on nostalgia, being from a good show, and having at least a tenable degree of personality that attracts the user. It still clouds the mind but it straddles between pure coom like the /aco/ torunament and pure character like Mr. /co/.

So it was all your fault then...Honestly though, I think the blowback year was built up to gradually and you're not to blame. The tournaments as a whole have been gradually shifting to favoring shocking upsets and narrative runs. It seems that the thing /co/ voters hate the most right now, is redundancy.

>>10482
Pretty reasonable picks. My top rank predictions
>Fang
The safest bet to win the whole thing imo. Good character from a good show with a solid fanbase. Recency boost with the 2nd season airing right now and her new kids. And most importantly, Fang is an amazing conductor for chaos and meme votes. The sheer seething she causes draws so much attention and her momentum just snowballs the further she goes.
>Alice
I personally think we're due for a big Disney rep to make a big run soon. Maybe one of the princesses, but Alice has had the most success so far so I'll put her here. Too bad Frozen fanbase seems to have severely dwindled on /co/. They coulda helped out.
>Kim
>Raven/Starfire
The only members of the "old guard" I think can make it back to top 8. Tyr finishing in 2nd is gonna cause a lot of fatigue against her. Kim isn't a threat to win at all, but the tradition will make her dangerous for a while.
>Velma
Always popular, and has a bit of a boost from Multiversus. This is best chance she has for a top 8 run.
>Anne Boonchuy
My dark horse pick for this year. Amphibia has a big fandom on the board. She's finished pretty strong the last 2 years, and the finale left most fans satisfied so there isn't any hurt feelings here. Hilda and Johanna showed that zoomer shows can do well in these things too.

39 year old loser phoneposter mostly known for hating almost all 2000s cartoons and 2000s cartoons creators and loving many 2010s cartoons because he was "cucked" from being in the animation industry in the 2000s (aka his drawings are literal stick doodle tier). Especially hates any cartoon that has a happy husband and wife since his dad left their family at a certain age and happy families can't exist to him, much prefers LGBT ships or underage kids like Dipper "fucking" these mom characters since he self inserts as that. Most famous hatred is against Kim Possible, especially the dad and also Ron for dating Kim and preventing her dating Shego. So much so his autism against it spills onto other sites where he does things like impersonate the creator.
In tournament terms, he's most known for being the faggot who hijacked Mr /co/ nomination threads last year when Stats didn't show and tried to ban all 2000s characters from participating

Hype threads are not allowed, ever again. The first thread allowed is the proper nomination thread, and the last thread is the final afterparty thread 24 hours later. Then no threads on /co/ unless really stealthy until next tournament
They intentional want this so it's just the tournament itself and nothing meta like what they were upset about with threads over the year

Meta threads can devolve into board projects and it is legally safer if 4chan does not start any projects (for ex. to avoid another gamergate fiasco).
Banning meta threads also makes it less likely for board culture to develop, so new users aren't required to "lurk moar" to understand what posters are talking about.

Nominations last an entire day so people who browse the board at least once a day will see it. Plus there's been a number of mentions on /co/ when it is, such as the thread that stayed up for over 500 posts and got archived.
Regardless, very few girls slip through the cracks during nominations so even if they don't make it it's very likely who they want will have gotten their nomination in

If temp wants lessons he can join in helping with my tourney. Then I'll be open to helping him with his. My tourney is Mr. /co/. I'm doing Ms. /co/ just because Stats hasn't spoken up. And I only work on the polls in /v/allhala.

I imagine though that even after it all ends, there would be some lingering interest from people who remember it. I wouldn't say that. We had almost 2 weeks advanced notice with a host that actually seems prepared. Any change at any time would be hard to communicate regardless because of the persona non grata status of anything tourney related on 4channel. And anyone who didn't get the memo yet is probably going to see the threads. It's not quite like starting an impromptu tournament on a much slower site like plus4chan. It's a way different game for the girls whose biggest goal is to make the bracket vs those with an actual shot to win. Qualification doesn't deal with detractors as you just go by raw number of votes so you have to have enough popularity and push to get there, then get BTFO round 1. And for fans of those girls or whatever they are in it's the big accomplishment.
Detractors plays way more in the actual tournament rounds with all the mind games and spite votes leading to it not being a traditional popularity vote. Which leads to girls traditionally mid-tier like Betty, whose strategy was she couldn't ever one-on-one beat the absolute top girls in a tournament popularity vote, but people like her and no one really hates her, so she can hope to sneak in while all the heavy hitters get all the detractor attention and get eliminated, leaving her the best option of a far weaker Elite 8.
And it worked wonderfully, that's the only strategy a character like Betty could win with. If it was solely based on popularity Betty would never would win one of these.
No.10678

>>10677
I think it's obvious at this point 'heavy hitters' have become paradoxical, in fact i wouldn't even use the term anymore. Last year it was all about 'heavy hitters' and they all flopped.
I've been predicting an upper-mid winner this year. I don't think spite gaming will be as bad as last year, cause there will be some general backlash to all that, so you won't have someone quite as mid as Betty (though i thought she was a great winner), but it's highly doubtful a 'top' girl wins. I'd be surprised if any supposed 'heavy hitter' ever wins again. But who knows I guess. I'm interested in how it evolves yet again this year.

Mediocre in the sense of a popularity contest. I think she was good in a representative sense. imo part of ms. /co/ is the character accolade and board symbolism a winner gets. Betty was the best legacy winner of any female. She's probably the biggest female animation icon and basically the original waifu. She may not have board presence but it wasn't undeserved in a sense. It's like espn taking a day off discussing the current superstars and giving tribute to a old time legend who defined their sport.

Heavy hitters are an objective thing. They are the characters where the question of making the tournament each year is beyond an afterthought, that regularly have the top seeds, that are generally blowing out the lower opponents early, that make frequent elite 8s
Winning is separate from that. There's way too many variables and strategies and spiting for it to be directly "most popular = wins". Sometimes a top tier character needs something to push them to the finish (Venture Bros cancellation for example) and many of the mid or upper mid characters could win since people like the feeling of upsets, but that doesn't mean they are as elite as the characters who would 100% win in a pure popularity contest.
That's why winning a tournament simply means /co/ likes you, not that you're /co/'s favorite or the best character ever

For a long time we've been marching off to the polls
Though all this waiting making me some fat rolls

As we wait to type, our brows we wipe, as we watch our sweat downpour
Hey, think of instead
A girl worth voting for
(Huh?) That's what I said
A girl worth voting for

I want her paler than my skin
With eyes that shine like stars
My girl will marvel at my jizz
That I just keep in jars
I couldn't care less what she'll wear
Or what she looks like
It all depends on how she acts like
Kiddy, sexy, bimbo, mmm

Bet the local girls thought you were quite the creeper
And I'll bet that smell you have make them all just weepers

You can guess what we have missed the most
Since we went to this board
What do we want?
A girl worth voting for

My girl will think I have no faults
That I'm a major find
Uh, how 'bout a girl who's got a brain
Who always speaks her mind? (Nah)
My manly ways and turn of phrase
Are sure to thrill her
They think he's a seriel killer, huh

I've a girl back home who's unlike any other
Yeah, the only girl who'd fuck him is his mother

But the final round in this tourney , will make cock all sore
What do we want?
A girl worth voing for

Wish that I had
A girl worth voting for

A girl worth voting
