A lot of that seems to hinge on caring what other people think. I don’t give a shit about who loves her or her fanbase, I want to know why I should support her character. The only point that’s actually good in my eyes is the first one.

Sorry if that seemed out of nowhere, I’m just tired of /tnt/ trying to make “objective” standards for good and bad characters/winners, mostly hinging on whether everyone loves them or not, or who loves them specifically. The fact that these are all subjective so trying to put an objective measurement is pointless goes over many users’ heads here.

Primal is fucking awesome and Fang is my favorite character from the show. I don’t give a shit about pity win nonsense or the controversies. I like the shows and characters, simple as. I still hold that Frog Tribe holds the greatest chance at making Elite Eight, I feel like they're the most influential of the Three Great Tribes and the most generally respected (or at least, as respected as you can get for DTVA) and while realistically their only shot at making it far is Anne they have actually gotten dudes into Mr. /co/ which is more than I can say for the other two.

I think Robin is an even worse situation for generalization than with Spider-Man because there's four of them (male) in the main continuity who would also go on to have their own identities. So hypothetically you can have Dick Grayson (Nightwing), Jason Todd (Red Hood), Tim Drake (if Red Robin doesn't count), and Damian Wayne in one tourney.

Tim has fallen off so badly that Damian is pretty much default Robin while Dick and Jason have become much more well known in their grown up identities.
Now Batgirl, that's a tough one. Even if you have Stephanie as Spoiler that still leaves the cowl to either Cass or Barbara. Lol at Bette.

Oh fuck, I just realized something dreadful that K-pop movie thing due to the unnatural traction it gained through its theatrical release might make those characters sweep the tournament spinal style, worse is that the original Netflix release was back in June when the film was still fairly overlooked, it’s traction only gained very recently creating a perfect storm situation, I hope I’m wrong and they get eliminated quickly but still I couldn’t have ever had such foresight of THAT becoming popular overnight, brace yourself anons, we’ve gotta work together to prevent such a win from happening

Then I assume if (hypothetically) one of them wins as Robin, the others have to be nominated as their other identities to avoid generalization? Because a potential loophole could be to only nominate them under their civilian names and then treat them as Robins after they qualify. It's more unique than Spider-Man because while everyone can agree it means Peter, the four Robins are popular enough during their time under the guise.

I've only ever seen them nominated under their identities as Nightwing and Red Hood so I don't see the loophole being exploited; also helps that Jason was more popular was Red Hood so why would anyone nominate him as Robin.
Trust me though; this can be a bigger hypothetical headache with DC than Spider-Man ever was (Wally and Barry say hello).

For a long time we've been marching off to the polls
Though all this waiting making me some fat rolls

As we wait to type, our brows we wipe, as we watch our sweat downpour
Hey, think of instead
A girl worth voting for
(Huh?) That's what I said
A girl worth voting for

I want her paler than my skin
With eyes that shine like stars
My girl will marvel at my jizz
That I just keep in jars
I couldn't care less what she'll wear
Or what she looks like
It all depends on how she acts like
Kiddy, sexy, bimbo, mmm

Bet the local girls thought you were quite the creeper
And I'll bet that smell you have make them all just weepers

You can guess what we have missed the most
Since we went to this board
What do we want?
A girl worth voting for

My girl will think I have no faults
That I'm a major find
Uh, how 'bout a girl who's got a brain
Who always speaks her mind? (Nah)
My manly ways and turn of phrase
Are sure to thrill her
They think he's a seriel killer, huh

I've a girl back home who's unlike any other
Yeah, the only girl who'd fuck him is his mother

But the final round in this tourney , will make cock all sore
What do we want?
A girl worth voing for

Wish that I had
A girl worth voting for

A girl worth voting

>immediate deflection to /pol/bait. Does the opposite of saving the subject of the thread, and instead completely eradicates it. Doubly so in /v/.
>it's harder to wordfilter. Hiroyuki gets called "Gook moot" more than he does his name proper. It'd be disruptive to conversation to filter out "Gook", while "tranime" has no such restriction. It would have been absolutely amazing watching a mid tier seed rise up to the top based solely on the quality of the character and her show. But to ahead, do cope about how Mrs “my show got canned” Monarch winning is so much better. I also like the cope you threw in there a couple posts ago that Tyr had a good chance of beating Fang despite performing far worse against the same opponent than Fang did. The good old “X would have won!” cope.

It was a heavily a meme run based on being a novelty dinosaur in ms. /co/ with an upset win over Toph. Had such a first time character pummeled the tourney in the fashion she was going and won the third year and the year following Spinel it'd be seen as another FOTM oddball and King /v/ tier moment. Monarch unironically looks better because of her classic reputation at that point despite the pity boost.
I would add the particular seethe Fang does get about 2022 is mostly the obsessed hangup of one or two autists here about supposed rigging on her end (probably you).
>despite performing far worse against the same opponent
Contextually Fang in the finals against Tyr would be a different matter than SF against Monarch. Seethe was building about Fang and they didn't have the "well she's here so lets just give her the win" attitude Monarch has.

For later years it's not that a first run winner (or low seed only) would be inherently bad. It's the factors likely involved. Why hadn't they qualified before and why are they now winning the whole thing? It would likely involve some FOTM/meme/campooner/rigging circumstances.

Would you guys be interested in a march madness style bracket challenge? Challonge, where we host the brackets, has a built in system so that people can submit predictions for how they think the tournament will go. I was thinking of running a contest so anons could submit their predictions and whoever got the closest would win a gift card.

Some caveats:
1.) Challonge needs an email in order to send a prediction. For privacy reasons I'd recommend using a temp email, but make sure to save it because I need a way to identify the winning anon. When I have the winner I'll ask in the thread for the name of the temp email address to identify the anon, so make sure to write down which you signed up with.
The window for submitting the brackets would be only 1 day: between when the bracket is released and until the 1st round ends.

Guys, I have an interesting idea for this year's /co/lympus, but it’s a bit ambitious and risky, so I wanted your blessing, and maybe some ideas to make it go smoothly.

Last year, /co/lympus had a small but active and followed campaign on the heroes and villains in the tourneys. I’ve recently remembered that and thought of another theme that could be really fun: A multiverse theme. This would involve RPs and a few OCs involving other characters from other entertainment boards reacting to the tourney, as well as depicting some fights in other worlds (Exs: Jerry and George debating on a vote where both fighters are solid wins, Playa Des Losers being a roundly thing with each checkpoint being a different hub like Cheers, Peach's Castle and the Pokemon center.) The easy part is that I've written for quite a few characters so I'd be used to it, the hard part is quite obvious: the risk of being labeled a shill and/or a 2-day ban.

Any ideas on how to do this more easily would be appreciated. I'd also like to hear any ideas for worlds, new commentators and even interactions you'd like to see.

I'd email it to them. The website requires an email to be tied to each prediction, so anons have two options. The easiest is

1.)Register with a burner mail
>Anons signs their prediction with a burner email
>If they win I'll simply send the gift card to the burner.

More convoluted but also feasible
2.) Register with a temp mail
>Anons register with a temp email, writing down the name of their temp mail to verify the winner
>Once the tournament is over and the winner is announced. If the winner used a temp mail, I'll ask for winner to make a post with both their original temp email as proof, and a 2nd email to receive their prize.

Even funnier is how Lois Lane used the MAWS version only and jobbed horribly to Pomni compared round 4 before; image buffs aren’t as ubiquitous as people think.
Personally I think competition from her sister is what kept her out of E8 than the pictures used.

Jucika getting Schizo Slappy and Propane back to back (and losing to the latter) has to be one of the most brutal sets of matches in any tournament, not because the opponents were unbeatable but because of the sheer damage it caused to her reputation from the deranged supporters they both had
Even in 2024 her reputation still hadn't recovered fully, though I think she at least overcame whatever stigma was left by reaching Finals which is more than can be said for propane who jobbed round 1 and Slappy who I don't think even qualified

At first I didn't realize
I need someone to vote,
I had a small tourney,
And enough to make it float.

A tourney where I simp for girls
A tourney where I post my sneeds
But now I've had a little time
To re-assess my needs

And I need a bigger fandom,
I need a bigger dip.
A bigger board, a bigger dick
A bigger hat to tip.

Because I'm Riggering,
I'm figuring I'm Riggering,
And Riggering is triggering
More Riggering

Hey, listen up, fuckwad.
I'm going to post this once, and I'm not gonna repeat it.
The tournaments... ya see, it's like a little lancer, alright?
And the more and more and more that you go and advertise it,
The more anons will see it as cancer.

But... you know, you really can't blame the threads
No, that's retarded.
You see, it's gotta (OP) inside.
Oh yeah, that's right.
It's one that always needs to ree,
And it is never satisfied.
You get it?

But the more attention you give it,
The more it likes to hunt.
Now listen--that is NASTY little (OP).
And I like to call him "a cunt!"

See, now that's why you're Riggering!
Listen here, dumbass!
I'm figuring you're Riggering!
But that Riggering's just triggering more Riggering!
Got that? Alright!

There is a principle of nature,
That most every anon knows,
It's called survival of the fittest,
And this is how it goes

The lady that wins has got to
Get the votes to reach that bar
The woman that doesn't
Winds up in someone else's jar

The tournaments are animals
They're trying to survive (fuck off jannies)
They're struggling, and fighting,
Just to keep itself alive

I must keep Riggering,
I'm figuring I'm Riggering,
Though Riggering is triggering more Riggering.

I won't stop!
Riggering,
I'm figuring I'm Riggering,
And Riggering is triggering more Riggering

And the anons are replying,
And the votes are multiplying
And the Roleplayers are dying
And the Tourney (OP)'s denying,

Who cares if my rigs are lying?
I don't want your bitch ass crying!
This is all so gratifying...

This is Spinel's Song, reminder it was made in 2020.

You say
The price of my fun's not a price that you're wanting to play
You cry
In your hands which you used to fap when you see me go by

Why so mad?
Remember we made an arrangement when you weren't awake
Now you're making me sad
Remember, despite our estrangement, I'm your Ms /co/

You'll be back, soon you'll see
You'll remember you belong with me
You'll be back, time will tell
You'll remember that I served you well
Chads will rise, simps will crawl
We have seen each other through it all
And when push comes to shove
I will send a full discord server to remind you of my love!

Da da da dat da, dat da da da da ya da
Da da dat dat da ya da!
Da da da dat da, dat da da da da ya da
Da da dat dat da

You say our love is draining and you can't go on
We'll be the one complaining when I am gone

And no, don't stop being best friends
'Cause I'm your favorite best friend
Your sweet, submissive best friend
Your loyal, royal best friend
Forever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever

You'll be back like before
Gems will fight the fight and win the war
For your love, for your praise
And I'll love you 'til your dying days
When you're gone, I'll go mad
So don't throw away this thing we had
'Cause when push comes to shove
I will kill your wives and daughters to remind you of my love

Da da da dat da, dat da da da da ya da
Da da dat dat da ya da!

Da da da dat da, dat da da da da ya da
Da da dat-

Everybody!

Da da da dat da, dat da da da da ya da
Da da dat dat da ya da!

Da da da dat da, dat da da da da ya da, da da da
Dat dat da ya da!

*reprise*
They say
I'm soon gonna lose all my power and start stepping away
Is that true?
I wasn't aware that was something anons could do
I'm perplexed
Are they going to keep on replacing whoever's Miss /co/?
If so, who's next?
There's nobody else in this whole board who looms quite as large

>umm spinel?

>Indistinguishable whispering.

Fang from Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal?

I know her, that can't be
That's the giant girl who spoke to me
All those years ago
What was it, 2018?
Those poor anons gonna break their screens!

Chads will rise, Simps will crawl
Next to the dinosaur, they all look small
All alone, watch them run
She's will tear them all into pieces
Oh my Stars, this will be fun!

Da da da dat da dat da da da dai ya da
Da da da dat dat dai ya da, hahahahaha!

Garfield, Dick, and Victor are all revealed subtly in like one scene each, and Raven's real name is Raven. Starfire is the weird one since in the show she says the translation of her name into English (which is otherwise unpronouncable) is Starfire, while in the comics her real name is Kori and Starfire is her alterego. Varied and unpredictable user input is hard to properly parse using simple rules.
And when after trying to parse it does not abide by the rules there's two options
>disregard it completely
>shove it in as is or after a best attempt
I picked the latter.
Of course it need not stop at simple and machine learning could be used to supercharge the input gathering as more human-y, but for that there's need of cleaned data. And preparing for that is WIP as of now.

Nominations do drag on but I don't know what a longer qualifiers achieves I manage to vote for my girls every time. Nobody is shifting through every single girl and considering them individually right?

Rather than qualifiers being longer the optimal solution would be to split qualifiers into two rounds. The 1st a round whittles down all the noms into the top 300 hundred, and the 2nd round determines the bracket. But I digress, we've done things this way for so long it'll be hard to force change.

You anons just need to nominations as a free prep-time round for OC makers.

They were told multiple times that the movie has no traction on /co/ and they had to see it in action to finally believe it.

Timezone cucking aside, you do realize that putting a harsher clock on nominations means the effect of shitty literal who noms is increased, right? After the first thread, people would be throwing piss and shit out of their ass just to exclude other pretty good characters that anons aren't autistic enough to nominate on the dot. Through sheer force of numbers, background whos and augieslop would make it in the tournament.

yes of course, we had to make sure that by the rules we have established could she compete
its seemingly that with her technical first appearance being an in-game sprite and her being in queen before she should stay in /v/

The anons bitch and moan about host bias but I feel like this should be handled on a vibe-to-vibe basis. Hornet may have technically appeared first in a comic, but a comic character she is not.

Not even technically; much like Master Chief, her sprite was shown off all the way in 2014. She is a video game character no matter how you slice it; it's not like an Addams Family or Trasnformer scenario.

The guy who nominated her remembered, I hope she can get farther than the last few years, hard for loud house girls to get anywhere in the tournament. I would only want her for a loud house winner though tbh
