Well, time to draw something for the winners. Seems to be consensus that Kent and Rogard are getting the Goth chicks. Question is, which one do I draw with Loona? I regrettably don't have experience with the Total drama franchise but I'm always happy to draw the hellhound. Mansley, since he's an agent that studies paranormal and unusual activity?

>Faced off the Plunderers in round 1
>Redirected the shit bomb at Megamind
>Summoned Alice and then Grimm to aid them to defeat the Frollo's Show
>Made a bargain with the plunderers to assist them to fight off Wallace
>Had a stand-off with CIA about their coffee and Wilkins.
>Literally had a Kaiju fight with a giant mech in the round
>Every single round ended in a nuclear detonation.

I genuinely cannot complain, The Giant Localizers possibly have been the most fun picks I have ever had the fortune of seeing.

Thanks everyone. I hope tag is finally good again.
Co-op is planned next month. Traditional dating would have it the first Friday of next month (Feb 2nd) but that'll sort of depend on Samaritanon's schedule, who says he wants to help (which I'll definitely need cause I won't be free enough to solo anytime soon).

This has been to me the best Tag-team in years. I think it's on par with Sam & Max's victory. I want to mention I am the person behind Giant Localizers all the way back from 2021. It's crazy to think third time was thec charm. I personally wanted the Plunderers to take it to the top but this is equally as good too. I also want to thank to the Kent poster who was campaigning with me during the first rounds and Silver(?)poster who also lend a hand for the team. I don't have a lot to say except thank you, but most importantly what I really love is that everyone can agree this has been the best Tag-team in years and it opens a bright future for the tourney if we keep it this way. Praying we get the same kino for Co-op and /cov/ later.

Let people rate your teams. I will start with mine:
>Giant Localizers
>Crazy-Prepared (loved Sticks' interactions with Sam, you're fun to talk with my man)
>Steamed Hams (forgot to nominate them but thank you to the person who did)
[spoiler]>Wallace & Gromit (I originally just nominated them because it would be weird without them who have been previous e8 members, I was just the Gromit poster)

GREAT
>Giant Localizers
Funnest winners by far and have been great all the way through.
>Sam and Max
I wasn't here for the first year, but I understand why they would win. They're cool.
OKAY
>Fake Santas
They are cool characters on their own, but I don't like how they won because people pushed for a Christmas finale. It was disappointing when I thought there were better teams in the elite eight that tried a lot harder. That's always going to bug me.
BAD
>Goth Chicks
I don't think I need to go into why. That tournament was a mess.
>Incognito
Worse because of the confirmed rigging that year. I also like Total Drama and don't care for Inside Job.

Your teams were good. Giant Localizers were obviously a highlight, and I liked both Crazy-Prepared and Steamed Hams. I hope the latter in particular goes further next year. Wallace and Gromit are always a classic duo.
Anyway, I didn't do much in this, but here's who I campaigned for:
Silentheroes
The Emperor and his Bodyguard

>Crazy-Prepared

>Steamed Hams
Skinners and Chalmers aren't a bad team and while Steamed Hams is funny, they don't even need to be just that joke. Definitely the best Simpsons team and it's not even the one I nominated.
>Cracking Cheese Lovers
I like Wallace and Gromit, not much else to say.

>Let people rate your teams
SkatoonY (Chudd Chudders & The Earl)
Fast-Food Frenzy (Mac Tonight & the Noid)
Number One (Man & Woman)

>Sam & Max
They fit perfectly as the first ever winners. Nothing to say here, they're solid picks and have proved to be good individually in the main tournaments
>Giant Localizers
Another new great team, lot of funny moments and the cherry on top was the nuke posts that followed. The only problem is that I don't think Rogard would make it far on his own in the main tournaments
>Fake Santas
This one is certainly strange because it is literally a holiday matchup that won thanks to that. However that doesn't remove the fact Jack and the Grinch are absolute classics and definitely earned their wins
>Goth Chicks
Speaking on the team themselves they actually fit together and their anon gave them funny moments back then but the tournament as a whole was a conspiracy mess which had an entire catastrophe with mods and /trash/ following from behind. Good winners, bad tournament.
>Incognito
Oh boy, I really don't need to say a lot on why they just are on the bottom. First of all drama aside they're literally just FOTM picks that made it all through the tournament thanks to the hosts' rigging that sway everyone's attention. In fact I barely remember any posts from their team compared to Goth Chicks and that is saying a lot. Meh winners but maybe I can understand why people liked them back then.

Had to panic rewatch two movies, then watch a couple of YTPs to get things somewhat going. I'll be sure to get some more refreshers over the year since I can do much better with them.

Giants was nice, I love the Iron Giant movie too.

It's really hard to say because much of the tournament results are now gone after the hosts deleted it all and no one wants to document much of this tournament
Just off memory, I'd say of those that made the Elite 8 Tyr'ahnee/Marvin and Bertstrips were the two strongest and campaign heavy before the pure chaos and tournament collapse started after round of 16 and likely would have still made it without malicious backdoor actions
Of those that didn't make it, it seems widely agreed the Three Caballeros team was the tournament favorite and that's why Numnuts focused on rigging them out specifically. Danger Mouse/Secret Squirrel posting was at its peak and both made it to round 3/4 so they could have had a deeper run. I do remember the Snagglepuss/Pink Panther team was also a bit of a force.
Would have been a different tournament entirely if it was played fairly.

This is why we need to put our foot down with bad hosts. NSA should have been gone after Ms. /co/ 2022 before he made things worse. We set an example we'll let hosts get away with much worse. Dominos had to hide under a new trip with little activity to get back in so NSA would likely have had much less power if he got back in too, but now it's expected hosts can go much further with changes and bad decisions than they ever could before.

Every single faggot that's tried this is an obnoxious attention whore who isn't actually interested in hosting a tournament, we're not gonna hijack "his" tournament if he's still in charge, we'll just make sure that "his" tournament reflects his quality as a host, EVERY single one of them, until he gets the hint and retires, even an attention whore like NSA isn't going to be able to tolerate getting shat on in every single thread for being an inept moron, especially when no one is interested enough in the actual tournament for him to care about hosting it again.

The tournaments are all treated as independent in that regard. Only overlap is that you can’t nominate someone for the male tournaments if they qualified for the female equivalent. Well, I just finished The Iron Giant. Absolutely worth a watch. Great writing, soundtrack, animation, characters, all around. Crazy to think this barely-marketed movie would go on to be one of Warner's most recognized works.

Mansley is a great villain. Not only very eccentric, but a great embodiment of the Red Scare. His true colors reveal when he took the walkie-talkie from Rogard and ordered the missile launch was fucking wild.

Fun Fact I recognized immediately when I saw it: Remember when Hogarth shows the Giant "The Spirit?" Brad Bird almost made a movie based on that. Would've been kino.

I posted this in the stealth thread already. Giant Localizers beating the Plunderers round 1 is funny when you know that Quest for Camelot's failure is part of the reason why the Iron Giant flopped but also why it was so good. The film got little advertising, a smaller budget, and less time in development because Warner lost hope in animation, but as a result got more creative freedom. All they cared about according to Brad Bird was that they just were working and getting things done on time. https://web.archive.org/web/20160323152658/http://www.awn.com/mag/issue4.05/4.05pages/millerbird.php3

Mansley's great as the villain, he's ultimately scared out of his mind but is putting up a cool facade. And considering the Giant is a giant metal man that scares people, he's a perfect fit. "Screw the country, I want to live!" was kino. I love that Rogard isn't the usual stupid asshole general either, he truly cares about his country and was willing to listen to Dean and Annie.

Silentheroes I'm suprised they didn't make it far considering Mr. Incredible's performance last year. He truly was the star when it came to comedy.

Kuzco is always a great character to see around and him and ENA made a cute pair. Surprised you didn't nominate him with Pacha or even Kronk.

The Kuzco and ENA pairing was a reference to Heroes of /co/ where the two went up against each other and ENA became Kuzco's bodyguard afterwards. I wasn't planning on campaigning for him again but I saw they were nominated so I decided to go at it again. Glad I did cause it was fun. I'll totally main CIA for Mr. /trash/ cause it'd be fun. I'm gonna campaign for him and Francis York Morgan in /cov/ since I think that'd be a fun team and York is one of my favorite game characters that I don't see getting into King.

>I love that Rogard isn't the usual stupid asshole general either
Yeah, now that you think about it, Rogard in this tourney is NOTHING like in the movies. Because of this I thought he was gonna be another Hartmann or Buzzcut but he's not even loud, let alone insane.

>>90219
I mean, Rogard in the movie doesn’t face space pirates, an alien super villain, a drunk robot, two egotistical maniacs, a cheese loving genius, Finnish people and a walking talking squid.
He was pretty distressed and panicked when the Iron Giant was walking around shooting at people. But he kept his cool regardless.

Thinking about it I do like Tags placement in January considering the placement off the other duo tourneys but having it sync up with the year again would make things less confusing.

As long as it keeps it's own month, I can live with it. We would have to do it really soon though. Like July or August.
No.91083

Two other considerations if you want to permanently keep it in January
1. Skip a year, next one is Tag-Team 2025 and 2024 is a “lost tournament” that never existed
2.Name the next one Tag-Team 2024/2025 (with early round sun December) and then make the one after it 2026
Only do this if we want to keep the January start date permanent

I say stick with naming Tag Teams after the previous year even though they start in January, as it is part of the previous year's "tournament season".

Is it really at this point though? It seems connected more with co-op which is 2024, and /cov/ (which will assumingly happen) which will also be called 2024. Tag team also skips a direct time connection to other /co/ tourneys by now being after both /v/ tourneys.

I feel like the simplest thing to do is name the tournament after the year it actually takes place in. Trying to keep some grouping or continuity with different tournaments just raises convoluted questions. I think the /aco/ "makeup" tournament last year was weird for this reason. The simplest way to do it is to just have the year part as a basic descriptor of when it takes place, rather than a number in a series you can't skip. Also, maybe this >>91084
