It doesn't surprise me that the /co/ waifu tourney was always full of funposting and butthurt. I think the wank for Ms. /co/ 2018 hasn't really to do with it being calm or whatever but just NOT having some massive taint like rigging happen and the winner and power line-up being actually a very reasonable and agreeable inaugural in retrospect (sans Black Canary) and setting what was a decent character foundation going forward. That already puts it above... every other ms. /co/.
One thing this recap kind of neglects though is that 2018 was relatively very small. This is a longer recap than the one this year's got from ENAnon yet it had like a 1/5th the voters and activity. So when all this shit gets posted about seethe and riots it's really only like 1-2 anon's. Every post just kind of gets elevated to a "happening" and it really wasn't. In fact probably why i remembered this more fondly beyond just the winners is that compared to other ms. /co/'s it was a very contained atmosphere and didn't have this past self-referential bad history which started with Spinel onwards. Basically it was just autistic fun. And all things considered I still don't think people took it as serious as they do now.
So yeah, i'd still think it's the top one. Anyone saying it was wholesome like Mr. is deeply mistaken though.

People tend to remember only the good things from any given moment and forget the greater picture that was present at the time. Usually due to time-span and personal bias they forget things that were shitty because they didn't partake or bother to remember. This can further be amplified if afterwards an event comes next which had bigger negative effects and it warps their minds that the event that preceded it was superior because it wasn't as bad which eventually translates into being "pure and good".
