I'm actually all for other "schizo" alliance characters winning and getting elite spots in the future. I just never saw the fascination for Curly x Grimm, probably because the former is effectively reduced to being a trophy wife for the latter and there's little consideration for how she would actually feel about her partner.

To be honest, the characterization of Grimm in the tournaments is highly exaggerated due in effect being an alternative way of being able to play as (Psychopathic Rapist). Otherwise Grimm is an actual gentleman who cares for his friends and loved ones. He just so happens to be tormented by an outer god which drives him insane but he still tries to keep his humanity in check.

Curly Brace is caring and has a mother-instinct which Grimm champions so that is what probably pushed the ship.

Kind of the problem with them is being thread side tourney things, so only tourney autist thread people will vote on them, so you get these kind of oddball results. They're arguably more of a /tnt/ vote than a /co/ one (Minerva was actually outright /tnt/ since the latter half of that tourney was here).

As one of the few anons here who is close to his source material, I'm kind of surprised as well. Maybe it's important to take into account that Blacksad has tournament history in campaigning going back to the RPfest of 2020, one reason why he is a consistent face to this day.
Either way, I think he is a good character who deserves to make the top 128 properly, his series is totally worth checking out for the art alone. And the theme of all Mr. /co/ side tournament winners being detectives this year is really funny.

I mean, it's not a big deal if there are side tourneys during the tourney and the results are thread reflective rather than /co/ reflective. I think it's gotten kind of bloated but whatever, so long as they have no effect on the main tourneys. The moment people start proposing stuff like side winners having some special privilege it gets ridiculous.

That's also awfully close to Reimu who is also misfortunate with nearly every one of her get rich quick schemes in manga like Wild and Horned Hermit, and I don't mean that in like an ordinary way, misfortune in Touhou can be induced by fucking gods
like in the 15.5th game and it goes all the way from making you poor, to wasting your money, or just making you slip on a banana peel and lose like the main antagonists were doing

The best ship is either Reimu x Dante or Frankie x Peter. The former has shown its longevity, but the latter is still very fresh. It's already showing to be one of the best pairings to date.

I had a good holler with the Curly and Grimm art, but it can't beat the best of each board.
