As you may know, I am organizing a co-op exploration tour around Yume Nikki to celebrate Madotsuki's return as a finalist.

https://ynoproject.net/yume/

For those who would like to join, go to the parties menu and there you will find a "Queen of /v/" private party to join. The password is "ieatsocks". Make sure to check the private party chat!
Use this savefile https://files.catbox.moe/yxu658.lsd that has key effects like Knife and Bicycle.

The plan is to go through some iconic locations and to conclude watch the results announcement in the Sky Garden.

Please come, and vote for Mado if you can!

It is true everything that wasn't falseflagging and Hexfaggot attention whoring was legitimately great and a lot of fun, both finalists have a ton going for them
The only problem is the falseflagging and Hexfaggot attention whoring has been like 80% of the entirety of the finals so no matter how good the remaining 20% was (and it was good) it's still mostly shit

To give an honest recap towards this years in each round

>Qualifiers: Good
>Round 1: Great
>Round 2: Good
>Round 3: Ehh...
>Round 4: HOLY FUCK, NEVER HAVE I SEEN SUCH A SHIT SHOW IN RECENT TIMES
>Quarter-Finals: IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE
>Semi-finals: Meh
>Finals: Good

So, chronologically, it was kinda decent actually. Its just the times it was bad it was REALLY bad.

>Round 3: Still good but cracks starting to show
>Round 4: Extremely bad
>Quarterfinals: ABSOLUTE DIARRHEA (worst round)
>Semi-finals: Bad
>Finals: Mixed, leaning towards bad
All in all the first half of the tournament was the only worthwhile part, I wouldn't in any capacity call the Finals "good" but it was at least an improvement of some kind which says a lot about how garbage the previous rounds got. Let's not forget the first like five threads of the finals ranged from abysmal to almost unusable

Hexanon basically turned the Baiken into a mouthpiece and then kept saying increasingly controversial things for he knew he had power. Stuff like "champions should be allowed back after 4 years" and telling people that if they don't laugh at Bazz then they don't belong, on top of dropping the ball for Mado's finale and shitting on /tnt/ (which is based but again, controversial)
Feels like the "neutral cool guy" perception got to him and he decided to get a little bolder at the cost of responding to trolls

>Feels like the "neutral cool guy" perception got to him and he decided to get a little bolder at the cost of responding to trolls
And that is why the art of staying in your lane is important. Getting your art praised is nice, but you should never seek to be or let being "Mr. Popular" get over your head on the internet.

Yeah but it doesn't change the fact that it kept happening even after Hex's loss. For all we know that could've been the reason Palutena just barely got snubbed of third. I don't particularly care for the result of 3/4 it's just weird how Hex specifically got that treatment. Almost as if even the hosts were aware that the drawfag was the only thing going for the character.

You can if trends work that way. In this case, Hex still cleared easily third, while she was closer then Ayla was to beating Mado as that wasn't close at all. And that's after the drama came out
Final round was a bit of a lame duck round, the other bracket side's finalists in Mado and Hex were seen as far stronger than Ayla and Palutena's side and was being touted as the true finale

Unfortunately it came off as if something was off with the results, although that may be a me thing but other Anons sure have had issues with the graph so i don't know.
>Because as I've said then, time and time again anons said details about who is or isnt rigging or suspect of such are best kept in the background.
Maybe you guys should ask about this in the finals poll for King. There's a good chunk of Anons who want answers. Imagine what Ms. /co/ 2020 would be like if that one guy didn't expose the Peru rigging for example.

So that tourney kind of sucked. Unbeleivable levels of falseflag and troll shitting, and of course the whole Hex thing. Never thought I'd say it but Ms. /co/ was marginally better.
On the bright side the matchups still got some good OC, especially the finale. Madotsuki is a cool winner and there shouldn't be anymore talk about a robbery in 2021 or the runner ups being cursed to job. The queen pantheon continues to be incredibly solid (with one meh oddball I guess).

Also as someone who rooted for Ayla, it’s cool that for once the dark horse underdog actually lost in Finals to the legacy powerhouse. I was starting to accept Ayla would win just because that’s how it usually goes with underdogs but was surprised that she lost pretty hard.

Anons being obsessed spergs over one guy making drawings depicting a goth lady with big boobies destroyed the tourney. You didn't freak out thread after thread over Batter being the TTGL schizo alliance guy, you didn't freak out over Grimm re-being the schizo guy in the 2023 finals, you didn't freak out at Scout being a horror movie antagonist. You only freaked out now because you had an individual you could latch on to. On /tnt/, dissent toward the whitelist were only ever "one guy" (I know for a fact it wasn't) but when the hosts gerrymandered the votes? Well NOW it was alright spend half the afterparty to complain about. Where was the one guy complaints then? Because if it is "one guy", you can try to control the narrative, because now it's a Baikenfag, Zeldafag, vidyabuttsfag etc. Get over it, your scheming and metagames can't control everything.
I hope the Hexanon knows that the complainers can suck it, and that his campaigning in King /v/ is to great success.

I stick to the idea that the moment the mods cowardly removed the ip counter was the exact moment everyone knew falseflagging and smearing was going to get out of control. I like Madotsuki as a champion but I really can't say the same about the tournament. No girl is to blame for what a few selected people were doing with the purpose of annoying others. I don't want to miss this opportunity to see a Yume Nikki and EarthBound character as Queen and King respectively. Giygas improved last year, I want to believe this is the perfect chance he has to match his queen.

You know what I want to see that in action, we've already seen the Neutral and Nigger Buff endings, let's see the Debuff ending. In 2026 I'm going to make it my mission to nominate her with the Gen 3 sprite within the first like 10 seconds of the thread just to see how she does
also speaking of, what do you call the opposite of the nigger buff?

Even beyond it being "first 128 get in", the nominations for the first Queen were so casual you could call them absolute chaos.
>people were trying to nominate guys for King in the same thread, but the entire list was thrown out by the time it came to do that tourney
>there were no franchise limits, so there were tons of girls from Persona, Fire Emblem, Street Fighter...
>speaking of, one guy nominated five Street Fighter girls with the same post + image, they all got in
>one guy didn't even bother with an image and nominated five Final Fantasy girls in the same post, without any pic
>the Host seemed to let his bias affect the process, since he just outright skipped over a handful of nominees (like Shizune from Katawa Shoujo), maybe because he didn't personally recognize her
>one guy tried to nominate Gerudo Link, so the Host compromised and entered Linkle - the nominator didn't like that, but the host ignored him
>Samus was the 97th nominee

Check it out here for yourself.

People did freak out over these things, though not to such an extent. But that's because those picks still had canonical character so there's a pretense (whether true or not) that people are voting for that character and not just for the campaigner. There was nothing like that with Hex.

That said, as someone who was staunchly opposed to her at the beginning, over the course of the tourney Hexanon kinda grew on me. Part of me even started wishing Hex could win so that this tournament could be her empire of dirt her anon worked so hard to conquer. Madotsuki is great but now has to be associated with all this shit forever.

Hexanon's crimes were being bueno but I didn't see a reason to throw the whole tournament into chaos over it. The "can we just talk" bit was making me roll my eyes and the baiken thing was a misstep but the guy just wants to make stuff for his girl.
>Maya two face trial was great
>Zelda didn't have anything going on so Hexanon just did what he wanted
>round 5 happens, Cirno, Felicia, and Princess get knocked out and with it most of the vocal half of the tournament (not calling Baiken or others silent here, just saying those had the biggest thread presence)
>no one is talking about the rounds any more since those supporters either left or are staying to complain, leaving meta bitching and false flagging and general retardation
>since there's nothing to respond to aside from that, Hexanon does with the Baiken speech (bad idea)
I'm not happy or sad he lost, and I think Hex would have made a poor winner being a pity vote. But they're not to blame, they were just a big visible target at a point where a lot of people were mad. The other part of campaigning which isn't mentioned but should be is that it keeps people focused on things other than complaining or just trying to spite the whole tournament, and I think round 5 of this year was a great example of that.

tl;dr I basically agree with "Anons being obsessed spergs over one guy making drawings depicting a goth lady with big boobies destroyed the tourney" and if you're fuming reading this you are that sperg, King Piccolo was right even if he got too cocky

Honestly I think the stigma goes beyond it being an OC based on Hex, the phenomenon on Hex with big tits is itself foreign to 4chan
It wasn't popularized by some thread or drawfag from here, as far as I can tell the idea is from twitter or deviantart. It'd be one thing if one was using a 4chan culture staple coupled to a campaign, but this is kinda like making a Miku campaign around Brazillian Miku of all things instead if her songs or rhythm games.

Just as the character Hex Maniac I've no problem with beyond just not thinking that a generic trainer is Queen material, but it clearly feels like the character is just getting baggaged with stuff it isn't, and it can't justify it by proving any relevance to the site either.
Something like Cirno being an idiot is at least a decade-lasting meme somewhat built around the character in a very fanwork oriented franchise whose english fans can source themselves largely to 4ch. Hex selling her breast milk is in essence just a persistent coomer fad on twitter/artist circles.

Madotsuki would be the real challenge and I'm feeling it's narrow one assuming Maya really does build up on her campaign more in turn. Regardless who wins it though Ayla probably loses in finals, or really anyone else in the bottom half bracket E8 if the timeline somehow pushes them. It's been stated but the top half of the bracket was just substantially stronger than the bottom half.

I was enjoying the Batter's campaign that year, but Eggman really should have taken it. Not a new opinion, but still wanted to say it in relation to this. Batter is a cool character, but as a tournament winner is even weirder than Recette. Will say Batter vs. Spamton was truly hypeworthy if you were there in the moment, least how I saw it. Just shouldn't have determined the results over all the challenges Eggman had to overcome that year.

Well can always look at the others for comparison. It's clearly not Madotsuki unless it's literally down to your personal preference, and I would have still said she's one of the easiest to cross off before she came back to win this year.

>Amaterasu
Out of the five remaining runner-ups, I'd say Ammy is the easiest to put aside as a solid case. Every single run she's had thus far has been great statistics-wise, and the year she seeded shockingly low was the one she went the furthest to date. Between great campaigns and a simple-to-get appeal, Amaterasu is probably the strongest of the five runner-ups left. The fact she got so much sympathy post-NSA should say a lot.
>Ayla
Even beyond it being too soon after her finals run, Ayla was barely even on the radar until this year. She had a close loss to Dark Samus in 2020, lost to Roll of all girls in 2021, and then sat out two years. If she was labeled immediately as a merely weird pick, I might consider her as up there for the worst received? Of course, that didn't happen between her really damn good campaigning by the end and just a generally quite positive reception around the character. It's not clear just how well she'll stick over the years, but as of right now she seems to have proven to be a successful underdog story. More importantly, she doesn't have much baggage behind her.
>Fio
Fio is an interesting case for just how ordinary she feels. She's made Elite Eight perfectly thus far, though her brackets past 2019 do kill some of that grandeur. Last time in particular was a really strange part of 2023's bracket, with her biggest claims to fame being taking down 2B by a close margin (fair feat) and ending the somewhat controversial JPEG Dog run (less impressive feat). Still, I think the mere fact she's had this good a track record already puts serious question into her being a contender for the "worst female runner-up" far as /v/ is concerned, and she's ranked well during her two 5th-8th voting periods. (She did get only 7th in 2021, but it was behind Alice and Curly.) The best way to describe Fio? She may not have much a serious shot at winning now, but she's the perfect kind of character you can look at and go "yeah, I fully understand why she was the first runner-up". Fio is simply likable.
>Hornet
Tough case to analyze because of her immediate loss this year, but I'd say it's too soon to say the spark around her has died. Her previous three runs were all increasingly commendable, and the margin by which she lost to Midna really wasn't that big. While her loss this year was shocking, it was also to a candidate that became a favorite up until her round three loss. Furthermore, however, I think it was more a mix of next-to-no campaigning effort and a record high amount of anti-hype around Silksong's really damn long wait. I can see a fall from grace story if she keeps losing like this, but I'm more inclined to say it was a bad year with one really significant external circumstance ragging her down. There were absolutely anons who thought Silksong would be out by the time Hornet returned to Queen of /v/ after all. Nobody was really dissing on Hornet beyond a general response of "She lost THAT early?", and Madotsuki did have her own shock loss last year to Shantae. Now that was a whole other ballpark with Shantae being a now-three time E8, but the point stands that Hornet still seems respected enough to give her the pass for now.

Then you get
>Tifa
Put aside accusations of her feeling too much like a normie pick or general debate on the quality of the FFVII Remake project. Hell, put aside opinions on the original FFVII itself. If you looked at most of Tifa's results, you'd be questioning how she could be the weakest runner-up. She's only lost to other Elite Eight members after all, and only Reimu and Ayla were particularly rough margins. Is Tifa the weakest runner-up? Obviously not. Is she probably the worst far as /v/ might consider? Yeah, there's a really damn good argument. No other runner-up in Queen of /v/ (thus far) has been knocked down so hard over her losing to the champion, and to go further her loss to Reimu was the biggest to date. Hell, if you throw in the other three primary tournaments only three Mr. /co/ runner-ups (Kermit, Grim, and motherfucking Captain America) have done worse than her in the final. She was seen as underwhelming quite fast in retrospect, not to mention at least one Tifafag really dug her tournament reception down further. She was almost a non-entity in 2022 and became the literal butt of jokes in 2023. This year might seal the deal, however, which is ironic because there was an attempt to redeem her. Whatever you feel on the character and her supporters, Tifa beating Princess by only five votes really did rile up a lot people. The campaign around Tifa clearly didn't resonate past the stairway OC that got a handful of praise. Yes, she returned to the Elite Eight. Didn't change her getting blown out by Ayla and locked into 8th place. The fact Miku, an E8 this year that had frequent criticism for even being allowed, placed over her speaks to real problems around Tifa. It's not like she was dragged down hard by just 8th place votes either, considering she didn't do well being placed for 5th or 6th by voters.

Does Tifa deserve ALL the hate? I'd argue not, especially if you factor in this year. Is she currently the Queen runner-up that seemed to have the most actual disrespect by anons? Absolutely.

This is way too negative an outlook. A lot of those riled up by her Round 4 match were either just people from the Princess general visiting or people already looking to start shit. Tifa still got a good deal of sympathy in the threads and people disagreeing with her 8th. And now that she's had an active year, we can remind of this to people who want to smear her as silent in the future. Calling Tifa silent used to be a valid point, but now it's going to signify either ignorance or falseflagging.

Tifa got shat on (gladly at least not literally) this year because she had the rotten luck of not only going up against a new thread favorite with a zealot fanbase in a deciding match, but also beat said character by the thinnest of margins. Basically a redux of Isaac vs Kiryu except a hundred times more overblown and dramatic, perhaps even less justified too since Tifa actually had a campaign.
I'm going to sound harsh here, but I'm glad the Princess didn't make E8 for this reason. I don't want to imagine the utter seethe Ayla, Palutena or Mado would have potentially been drowned in, even if the initial reception to the E8 wouldn't have been as bad had she not lost in the Sweet 16.

I feel for that anon who was maining Tifa this year yet was one of the first people to support the Princess in 2023. Talk about getting dealt a bad hand.

Part of me wonders if those 9 votes could be either people not wanting another touhou near finals or people not liking what looked to be another power of friendship thing happening after Batter/Grimm fatigue. I like Baiken in E8, she feels like a good fit, but I wonder what a Queen 24 would have been like if just a dozen voters had changed their mind between those two close matches.

Since we are on the topic of coulda woulda shoulda, was there anyone else in the top 16 who you think could have posed a threat to Mado winning?

In regard to the fairy friendship thing, there's plenty of official content showing Cirno starting trouble together with other fairies, so it felt like a bit of a nobrainer. Marisa is also frequently involved with them beyond fighting so I guess Don fits that way too
