Considering Metroid Dread launched right before Queen 2021, Samus being back would have been a gamechanger assuming she didn’t have an upset. Could have seen her either winning outright or propelling the eventual winner depending on who beat her. If, let’s say for an example, Madotsuki beat her in quarterfinals or semi-finals that momentum probably would have overtaken Recette with how close it was in our timeline.

Suffering 65 for having to deal with the Resonance Cascade followed immediately with being tasked with taking down the Combine in City 17, and tournament-wise he's appeared in all years but never made it to Elite Eight, deserved 15 since he kills a lot of people even if it is in self-defense.
>Keiichi
Suffering 75 since he constantly gets put through the wringer and dies multiple times in Higurashi, deserved 35 since he brutally murdered Teppei Houjou and helped Scout during his schizo rampage.

I wonder if Spamton would have actually won in 2021 had he beaten Batter. He had more FOTM backlash behind him, but a lot of the other strong factors going for Batter would have still applied in some fashion. Question might really come down to Spamton vs. Eggman since Nyarly and Morshu were both on the weaker end.

I get that there were factors that he struggled against in the end, and correct me if I'm reading what you're saying wrong, but Eggman was incredible this year regardless of who you preferred in the end and had everything a good campaign needs. He was a strong, vocal character with a mostly in-character campaign that made plenty of references to his series, had tons of OC that took full advantage of his matches with a great main drawfag in Hexanon, and several others supporting him frequently like the Warioanon and Wilyanon while getting a second chance at finals. He even kept things near the end in the shonen style King loves. What more could you ask for?

It is interesting to see how good and bad these all have done on /v/ in comparison. They range as far as a tournament winner (Samus) to an embarrassingly bad jobber (Crono). Snake has made Elite Eight twice and Mario got close in 2022, while several here have at least had female companions do very well in Queen.

Other than Crono, who’s actually the WORST pick here? I feel you can make cases for any out of Link, Sonic, or thr FFVII duo.

I was thinking back to the tie between 5th and 6th during Tag-Team last month, and it reminded me of an interesting tidbit: Curly was actually one of the main reasons 5th-8th moved over to the total point system for /v/ if I recall correctly. Alice got the most top votes, but also had quite a few lower votes. People pointed out how Curly would have been 5th if it was averaged somehow, which led to the current system.

Just wild thinking about this in the context of 2023. There's the obvious matter of this alongside the very close Marisa match, but it's also ironic with other major winners in 2023. She would have been another 5th place winner alongside Skeletor, and there's the irony of her ending up with Grimm considering Alice's votes in 2021.

Is there any vidya that you were introduced via the Queen and King tournaments? I didn't really pick up any recmmoneded games on King because I've either played them or they are just shit but in Queen /v/ I was introduced to the Princess and I was honestly shocked by how high of a seed and hype she got. I thought it was FOTM but after seeing other slay the princess threads and seeing it recommended I played the game and I utterly in love with this game and the narrative.
I genuinely hope and wish for the Princess to be the Queen of /v/.

I really like the game's vastness of choice, abstract themes, dark and occasionally humorous mood, and visual style. It feels in some ways like a horror anthology with a consistent framing device. I hope it keeps qualifying and does decently. That said, the threads can get pretty pitiful. Sometimes it's nothing but seemingly turbo lonely people going "WAAAAAAH TFW NO PRINCESS GF" and keep reposting that stupid Out Of My League video. Some of them probably already moved on to newer FOTM girls to proclaim them as their new "waifu for laifu'".

Well, maybe that kind of fandom can at least convince the developers to add more routes to the game, even if they didn't plan on that initially, but they also evidently didn't plan on it blowing up the way it did.

To be quite honest, with the bigger winners the past two years I could see next Queen bouncing back to someone more on the niche side. Last year cleared out a few power players from the bracket, and while they're hardly the ONLY ones there I do think the ones left aren't quite as strong as the likes of Curly or Ammy. The biggest exceptions are Hornet and GLaDOS, but we'll have to see what happens. (Madotsuki could have a huge comeback as well, but right now she's in a hard spot to judge.)

These are teams with the most support regarding OC. Partners in Crime started off strong, Leaving a trail for Ace Attorney teams, who got a steady supply of OC up until the very last round. Knockout Kings started off kind of weak but picked up the pace as rounds went on.
Knockout Kings 53
Partners in Crime 37
Wright and Co Law Offices 20
Effects of Karma 17
The Slayers 12
Lords of Chaos/Kings of the Ring 10
Super Mario Bros 9
We Tech Therefore We Game/Extracurricular Activities Club/Army of Two 7

These are characters that appear in the most OC. I did not expect Little Mac to end up at the top of his team, much less surpass Wario and Waluigi. He gained a notable presence in later round, overtaking Doc who was at one point leading by 5. Waluigi was also surprising, beating Wario and Doc by the skin of his ass.
Little Mac 50
Waluigi 45
Doc Louis 43
Wario 42
Phoenix 25
Maya 22
Fraziska/Manfred 19
Doomguy/Geralt 17

Most Pupular characters that didn't qualify. Judge would be here with just courtroom videos alone. Vince managed to get 6 mentions thanks to the courtroom appearances MacMahon Special.
Judge 19
Vince 6

Blood Tributes. Title says it all.
Larry/Helltaker 1
Torres 1

And of course it wouldn't be a tournament without some rape. Grimm managed to get 4 pieces of OC, three of which were done on Monika's expense. Schizo rapist king does it again. Runner up in this category would be his queen Curly with a single piece of action.
This is all from me anons.

Almost forgot, congratulations to Eggman who managed to be the first to surpass 200 OC pieces on the new booru with 207. Near him is Grimm who is just shy of the 200 mark at 199. Next in line is AM at 157, then John at 142 and finally Wario at 125.

>Schizo alliance
Why IS it a schizo alliance, anyway? Batter definitiely isn't schizo, I don't know if I'd call Jack a schizo, either. Autist for sure, but schizo?
The only thing it really has in common is that one discord that was exposed in the final King /v/ afterparty thread

Dude, he literally had to be rigged out against JACK GARLAND by NSA to lose. And even without that, he's a semi-finalist. Denying the strength of a Semi-finalist is just damage control, if anything it just feels like you're wanting to invoke the underdog paradox for fucking AM

Not trying to invoke anything, but I find it a bit desperate to try to claim he's on the same level of hype as, well, Garland, considering that go by his own statistics he's not particularly strong. Again most meta advantages being attributed to him right now are factors not too many people have awareness of, compared to having a recent release.

Metashit doesn't define a character. Only their game, personality, and how they act in canon. I want to leave the jobber shit behind and just appreciate campaigns and competency of their campaigners. I do have a personal theory that Jack Frost might have had some more dubious votes behind him, and NSA overlooked them for whichever reason. Sure Garland got a boost too, but it wouldn't have been as crucial considering his win margins and general momentum. Frost's margins against Phoenix and JC weren't that big. There's also the whole matter that we outright saw someone rigging off the Jack-off meme in an unrelated poll on /v/, which already raises some potential red flags. If someone was willing to rig something like that, why would tournaments be off the table? Yes, that was on a more susceptible Strawpoll, but the potential intent is the big takeaway here.

I will clarify that I strongly doubt that NightShift had a direct role in any kind of rigging here, even if she did happen to give it a pass. I'm just acknowledging the chance that it happened period. Rigging would also not make up the majority of Frost's support. Just would be enough to have changed the final results.
