Who are you taking to Elite Eight? For me it's
>Little Mac (sorry Mettaton but I just like Mac's campaign more)
>Not Shane (my favorite campaigner in this after Little Mac and Doc)
>Pheonix Wright (I love the courtroom and don't have really any strong opinions on his opponent)
>Klein (I have admittedly slept on No More Heroes and need to fix that but Klein has been a decent part of the threads so far)
>Ayin (I love both campaigns but in the end, I slightly prefer Ayin. I weirdly consider him as a kind of protagonist to the tournament)
>Kiyotaka Ishimaru (Frog seems chill but he showed up a bit late in the game if I recall and Taka is my main)
>Frank West (sorry John but I love Frank's campaign too and I think he should get a chance at an Elite Eight now)
>Proto Man (I love Megaman and as in character as it is, Gordon being silent does not entertain)

>Mettaton
Mac's campaign has been great, but Mettaton's one has been too. Out of the two characters, I prefer Mettaton as a character.
>Not Shane
This isn't even a choice.
>Phoenix
Both have had campaigning, but I prefer Phoenix.
>Klein
My character, of course I'm voting for her.
>Dinah
Same thing.
>Kiyotaka
Has certainly done more and I'm neutral on both characters.
>Frank
Again, both good campaigns but I just prefer Frank as a character.
>Proto Man
Not really a choice in this one either.

Anyway, I've got to try drawing Klein clashing swords with Travis and not make it look too terrible, because as cool as it sounds, it won't look that cool with my lack of talent.

>Not Shane (arguably has the best OC in this tournament and his campaign is incredibly based, Luigi already made Elite 8)
>Erdrick (this one's tough, but I went with him because Phoenix already made Elite two vidya tourneys in a row)
>Klein (Travis already made Elite)
>Ayin (also has a great campaign)
>Kiyotaka (yet another great campaign)

>Not Shane
He's funny.
>Phoenix Wright
One of my picks. I love him and it's fun to make courtroom OC. Erdrick's campaign also has very little to do with his character and is just repeating the same joke.
>Travis Touchdown
One of my favorite game characters.
>Ayin
Probably the character I've had the most fun campaigning for in both this and Co-op.
>Frog
Best Chrono Trigger character and I liked his stuff in King last year.
>John Ward
Both my picks but I gotta go John. He and his game are great. Also Marisa when are we playing Uno?
>Proto Man
One of my favorite Mega Man characters, and Protomenposting is always kino. Gonna blast Act II in a little bit.

Of course, I'm still not gonna go down easily. I am well aware of your strength, but I think you'll find I have quite a few aces in the hole myself. After all, my body was designed to combat humans. What point in all those fighting capabilities if I never use them against an actual human fighter, right?

Inscyption Scanner allows Proto Man to shine a scaning light out of his buster, transforming the enemy it hits into a card that he can then summon once to attack. Proto Man can only store one card, so he will need to use his current one up before scanning a new one.

REAL SHIT

I feel like this tournament is starting to show the specifics of the sub-community that's gathered and cultivated on /tnt/. People are so invested in campaigning for their literal whos and tourney memes that matches that would've been super hype in King get ignored because there's no one particularly passionate.

This also results in silent niggers like Luigi and Gordon (and almost Harry, he lost by 4 votes) managing to go as far as Round 4 because they (MOSTLY) go up against other silent niggers.
No.39794
Anonymous
>>39793
It's a double-edged sword. On the one hand, bigger characters are ignored because people want to give a chance to smaller characters that almost never make the main brackets or do poorly but because of the smaller size of these, the vocal characters have a better chance and we have less issues later on.

I don't feel bad. The most difficult part for me now however is trying to figure out a new way of campaigning for Mario in king this year. There is no doubt the recently announced games plus the movie are going to have an effect on the characters for better or worse. That's why "It should have been me" feels kind of obsolete, but I'm so happy many around jumped on the boat and made their own edits from it. I may use it again though. As for Luigi, well I'm kind of campaigning for him already if you know what I mean.

You did not act on the opportunity to be with Marisa when you both qualified for this tournament. I hit it off with her because I seized that chance.

I like how weird Super Mario Wonder is. It might actually be a refreshing 2D Mario. Still wish Waluigi got to be there too if Daisy got to. Anyway, Mario definitely has my vote in King. >I have to think of something to draw for her match, which is a bit hard since I don't know Lobotomy Corporation or whatever it's name is
It's a monster management game inspired by SCP (back when it was good) and Warehouse 13. The gameplay involves sending your employees to inspect weird monsters so you can get energy and meet a quota to end the day.
Ayin is the founder and manager of the titular company, so he's responsible for giving out orders to employees and such. There's a lot more to him and the game, but it'd be getting into spoiler territory and this post would end up turning into a novella if I went into it all. Hope that's enough info to help you with your drawing. I can go more in-depth if you'd like.

I forget how they contain them from a lore perspective, but gameplay-wise they stay in a chamber like pic related and then an agent comes in and inspects it.
There's also the joke answer of "they aren't contained" because breaches happen often.

How did you get so good at this, Mac baby? You’ve beaten so many opponents, the tournament had to put you up against the guy that featured you on his show, hahaha!

Your eyes are not foolin’ you, Mac, this is indeed the same Mettaton from the MTT Network. Looks like this wheeled calculator had a growth spurt after getting his switch flipped, and what you’re seeing right now is his glamorous EX form. You think he attends Disco Kid’s Boxercise routines? Hahaha! I think that’s true, actually, because this kid has deadly disco balls at his disposal. Anyways, watch out for Mettaton’s giant legs and bombs, though those will be a piece of chocolate cake considering your matches with Chun-Li and Viewtiful Joe. Dodge all his attacks until his limbs blow up, pound him with your Star Punch, and this superstar will REALLY be seeing stars! Best of all, you’ll NEVER get hit!

It all comes down to Mac vs. Machine, son! Mettaton was afraid of fighting you ever since he saw your record, and only you can prove that it’s no act! Knock the SOUL of this pretty boy and break his spotlight! It’s time to earn your place in the Elite!

The truth of the matter is that matches and contestants can sound hype on paper, but if they don't actually do anything during the tournament are they really that interesting? When it comes to these events, the characters very much become embodiments of the attitude and passion reflected by their supporters, otherwise there's no human behind the opponent. Dinah vs Marisa was the matchup with the most art of its respective round and probably the tournament in general so far, but that's only because there were enough people vouching for the characters in question rather than the match itself.

>John is working a late Friday evening at his church, practicing his sermon for Sunday morning. This week has shaken him up badly, so he wants to get his sermon down.
>While reciting it in the pulpit, a man in a black blazer walks in. When he gets closer, John realizes that he has a camera around his neck.
J: "Sorry, sir, but the church doesn't allow for flash photography."
F: "I'm not here to take pictures, I'm here to talk to someone. Are you the priest of this church?"
J: "I am. What brings you here?"
F: "I got a tip that something big is happening here in Sterling, Connecticut, and I think you can help me."
J: "What did your tip say?"
F: "It's gonna sound weird, but here me out. A zombie outbreak is supposed to happen tonight."
J: "Zombies?"
F: "Yeah, the undead. The tip said that some mercenary guild tried reviving their dead member yesterday, and it got out of control. He became a zombie and turned the rest of them into zombies too."
J: "They went against God and paid the price."
F: "So, will you help me? I have experience fighting zombies, but not armed zombies."
J: "I will. Come with me."
>John closes his Bible and walks with Frank to a coat room. John opens a locker, and in it is a trench coat and a shotgun, with several dozen shells.
F: "I'm not one for shooting. I prefer something more physical, like a baseball bat or a gumball machine."
J: "This isn't for you, this is for me. These belonged to a friend of mine, and he would've wanted me to use them for something like this."
>John puts on the trench coat and starts loading shells. This time, it's not just a gun with one bullet, but many bullets.
F: "Looking good, priest."
J: "That's Father to you. Now, let's go fight some zombies."
>Frank and John do a bro handshake and walk out of the church, ready for any and all zombies.

The Mettaton match-up looks tough, but as a Mac anon, I will not give up! Punch-Out!! is a classic franchise that Nintendo refuses to acknowledge in recent years, yet the NES, SNES, and Wii installments are among the best games of their respective platforms. His victories against bigger challengers against all odds are also in character for him, which is exemplified during the heated match-up with Sly Cooper. Mac accomplished a lot of crazy triumphs in his series and is one of the best heroic underdogs in gaming in general. I believe he has the strength and appeal to win the match and make Elite, especially after his dedicated campaigning.

Vote for Little Mac.

I love it. It takes a lot from the original arcade games gameplay-wise and is practically the game Nintendo wanted to make for the NES before console limitations got in the way. While the opponents don't have much of a personality compared to even the NES game (for instance, SPO introduced Aran Ryan who acts nothing like he does in Punch Out Wii), they're still fun characters nevertheless. It's a really damn great game even though the Wii version is still my favorite. The game's incredibly fun to speedrun too.

I voted for him. While you're at it, let's all talk about our mains and why we think they deserve a spot in Elite Eight. Kiyotaka is a very emotional guy all about hard work and dedication. He believes talent shouldn't just be something you are born with, but build and he considers the term genius an insult viewing those labeled as such lazy for getting by in life being already gifted. He had a rough child having trouble making friends due to his poor social skills and living in a family suffering from debt due to his grandfather's poor run as Prime Minister. In fact, his grandfather's shame is one of his driving forces to keep moving forward. He wants to restore his family's honor. As cheesy as the writing can get in Danganronpa, I consider Kiyotaka a genuinely well written character I can as cliche as it is to say, heavily relate to on the social skills aspect while I was growing up and I will never not be mad about how poorly they concluded his character. With how poorly this series does in these tournaments, even in a small one like this, I never expected Kiyotaka to get this far let alone beat thread favorites like Ñ, Philemon, and Captain Falcon. I remember being pretty bummed out when Kiyotaka failed to make the King bracket last year. I'm still not going to underestimate Frog. Chrono Trigger definitely has a better reputation on /v/ than Danganronpa with Frog being a regular in the main tournament and he could still pull a fast one on Kiyotaka. Much like my main and your main, I will perservere until the bitter end.

Phoenix Wright is one of my favorite game characters. He has a strong determination and sense of justice in a legal system that hates people like him. He always believes in the innocence of his clients and refuses to give up on them, no matter how bleak things look. His character progression throughout the series is also excellent. He starts out as a rookie lawyer way in over his head, but with every game, he becomes more confident in himself and his abilities as a lawyer. By the time Trials and Tribulations is over, he's achieved his dream of being able to help those who need it. I also liked how he became a mentor figure in Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice since it feels like the natural conclusion to his character after Trials and Tribulations. He's wonderful no matter what game he's in. He's also one of the most hype characters in UMvC3. Wright's opponent is also a complete meme pick with almost nothing to do with his character or games, and his campaign consists of repeating the same joke constantly.

John Ward has a really well done character arc that manages to feel impactful and meaningful despite the limitations of the game. He messed up Amy Martin's exorcism and feels terrible about it that he's willing to fend off anything in his way just so he can right his wrong. Even with his faith diminishing, he perseveres until the very end when he is finally able to finish Amy's exorcism after taking out two of Hell's most powerful demons. I love him and his game. He's probably going to lose here, but I have faith in him, and if he does lose, at least it's to Frank, who's a great character with a great campaign.

Ayin is hard to talk about without massively spoiling Lobotomy Corporation, so I'll spoiler tag it.
He was a researcher on a project called the Seed of Light Project, which was started by his colleague, Carmen, as a way to help humanity save itself from the dystopia it's currently in. Things went poorly for the project, and it led to Carmen attempting suicide. Carmen's suicide caused the project to go haywire, eventually leading to the deaths of all of his coworkers. At the end of the game, he confronts all of the negative emotions and thoughts in his head preventing him from finishing the project, and eventually finishes the project. He evaporates as the Seed of Light shines and he hopes Carmen is satisfied.
I can't say much about his opponent as a character, but her campaign is cool and I want to play her games soon.

I think Klein deserves it more than Travis, since not only is he an extremely popular character that has a good chance of winning King one day and has gotten in the Elite, but he also hasn't really much support in this.

As for Dinah, while I do campaign for her, Ayin had a great campaign. I can't say she deserves it more than him, but she certainly doesn't not deserve it either. This is just a choice of who people prefer, both are good.

The Town With No Name is the first game I'm aware of that's pretty much an unapologetic funpost by the developers that somehow got sold in stores, and I love every second of it. Every character and scene is hilarious and the music is full of both funny and great tracks. It honestly feels like a game that could be released today, which is a testament to how timeless it is.

The Wild West aesthetic is also cozy and I have yet to find another game that emulates precisely what The Town With No Name was aiming for.

The games were all released quite soon one after the other, so the games are quite similar. Well, I can't actually be sure if that's the case for the third game, since it's only in Japanese, but it probably is also quite similar to the other two.

Might as well say something too. Mettaton has always been my favorite Undertale character. It's easy to like him for his colorful personality, his catchy themes, his fun fights and his awesome designs (it helps that I've always been into glamrock/metrosexual aesthetics, but even his box design is immediately appealing). But it's not just that: his character fits really well into a game that's all about how you interact with the world around you and affect it. Mettaton pretty much defines himself by how he affects other people. While there's obviously a narcissistic side to this, he clearly cares about entertaining others and making them feel happy, coloring their monotone lives just a little bit more with his shows and hijinks. That's something I think most people can relate to at least a little bit: a desire to bring others joy and feel like you're making the world around you at least a little bit of a better place. This is part of why I felt he deserves to be in Heroes: it's easy to see Mettaton as antagonistic for constantly acting hammy and trying to kill Frisk, but in the grand scale of things, he wants peace and harmony. Unlike Undyne and Asgore, he doesn't care about going to war with the humans, he just wants to entertain and be the cultural bridge helping mend the barriers between monsters and humans, which is honestly really compelling.

Mettaton hasn't qualified for King since 2019 (and it was "first come first serve", not a popularity-based qualifier round), so I'm glad he managed to come this far in this smaller side tourney. Even if he doesn't make it into Elite 8, it's still great that he managed to get even a little bit more limelight here.

Well, here we are folks. Just a couple minutes away from the Elite 8. I'm surprised. I expected you all to get the lowest score in the history of these tourneys. But it's not over yet until the results are released! and lemmie tell you, this one's gonna be a doozy! I mean, THE 2nd player of video games? That's quite the hurdle for our guy Shane to surpass, especially considering Mr. L over here hasn't had to move a muscle once during this entire shebang. The clock is ticking and that "submit response" button is turning cold, it's your move sport. Time to make history.
