Apart from May and Dawn, the protagonists are honestly worse than the NPCs, because those at least have characteristics attached to them. Most of the players are just that, the players. May and Dawn are the best because they at least are characters if you pick Brendan and Lucas at the start (or if you use the anime, since that's where their real character is). Not that it matters, they would just silently lose early and that's it.
Misty was a good rep, but I feel like she's not going to qualify again. Instead, it'll probably be Gardevoir and either two protagonists or one protagonist and Cynthia.

Finished the map and all that is left now is to roughly map out where who will be. Then I learn basic modding so I can make everyone immortal. Generally everyone would get the same amount of provinces, province development would be randomized and everyone will get a colonist to get unclaimed (gray) land.
Here are some ideas I have in mind:
Recette and Morshu are pseudo merchant "republics" and are on the best trade nodes in the game. They are also Jewish.
John is a stand in for the Papacy so Catholics can get cardinals appointed.
Vince, Icon of Sin and King Boo are Animist and thus more likely to ally with eachother and less with everyone else. Though about putting Vince next to the Black Sea and make him Fetishist but decided on the Alps instead.
Torres is the naval power of the Mediterranean. Gets a bit more provinces to compensate for all of the unconnected land.
I thought about Armstrong and he will either get something in Ireland or South Spain. Undecided for Jack, Grimm, JC and Grox Empire. Everyone will also get a name for their state. Fell free to suggest someone or something if it comes to mind. They will be mostly monarchies but there are shit ton of religions and cultures that can be picked.

Actually I was just thinking. There's a significant non-zero chance Eggman will win next year. This would rustle the jimmies of many tournament goers and just people on /v/. People would call for a Sonic ban. To that I would deem unnecessary. Eggman was, for the longest time, the only Sonic character with any chance of winning. That was all until Shadow and his year showed up and claimed 2024 for himself. To the people who would decry the possibility of another Sonic winner, I'd say they should calm their tits. Two wins in a row is insane, but it's not like they'd get a 3rd. Even a two year gap between wins would be unlikely. It's not like Sega is going to pull another "Year of" marketing shit and bring some other Sonic character into the limelight. It's not like they'll do a Year of Silver.

full disclosure i made that original post pretending to have a stroke and it was not an accident. I thought it would be a funny bit, and if you read the original post, i made it so people couldn't use the gif again in the thread because it would be a duplicate gif. I got the stroke bit from that old bart simpson bus screencap, and I've always found it funny. It wasn't organic or a typo, it was what was originally meant to be a one-time bit, but people ran with it.
At first i was all in on the strokeposting, i made that wario and sam wheel chair race and stuff and all that, but I did also try to steer (heh) Sam's campaign back to something more in character with his dialogue in the Sam vs Wario in Brazil video, and having him leave the wheel chair in that, but I don't think it stuck.
I say all this because I reached this part of the post and don't actually have a reason, I just want it on the record because people think it was a typo. I have some sort of amnesia and it'll help me remember this myself if it's part of the collective sort of subconscious instead of something I'm just keeping to myself. Sorry for the blog post.

Sam is very fast both with his body and weapon, and it takes time to throw out that pokeball and time for it to open. My guess is either normal/steel or fighting/steel. Normal/steel would make him immune to Ghost type moves, which means his sword could really fuck up Hex.
Fighting type steel and he's be in trouble, both ghost and poison would be double effective against him which Gengar excels at.

There can be a conventional underdog that's some unexpected low seed or poor past performer and also a meta underdog in that the narrative is against them regardless of conventional power. KoV is becoming Ms. /co/ in the sense the powerhouse is not expected to win, even if they are still a powerhouse, hence the strange situation where the powerhouse becomes a meta underdog.
