Loved the campaigns we've had gentleman, It was quite the pleasure to interact and fun-post in these tournaments.
Biggest shocker to me was the fact that Geralt, basically a jobber prior to Co-op 2023, has been elevated to an actual serious contender and Doomguy has been proven not to be a jobber out his prime.
Lastly and not least, thanks to everybody who joined in the interaction and roleplay. It was a blast through and through

You owe it to yourself to play Doom 1 st least. It's easy and lightweight with a source port. Basically just peak run&gun for a few hours until you run out of stages
Original devs even encourage piracy of it.

...why did so many people like that team anyway? Thought it stuck out like a sore thumb during top 16. You got all these classic vidya characters from major publishers and then two FOTM indies from half a decade ago.
Romantic Heat also apply here to a lesser extent but I can at least see the appeal there. Helltaker has sexy bitches in suits + I can imagine Leisure Suit Larry checks a lot of the "LITERALLY ME!" boxes for the average /v/irgin.

>6th: Slayers (Loved the team dynamic and they had some great RP and OC. Love Doom and The Witcher a lot too)

We're live right here on /tnt/, as two longtime rival duos face off in the semi-finals! First up are the head honchos of each team, so how about we go ahead and meet him?

A wise colonel once said, "There's probably not a single person who doesn't know [this guy]." Give it up for Mr. Video Game himself, MARIOOOOOOOOO!!! Raised by a family of third-generation Italian immigrants in Brooklyn, this man rose to new power and stardom upon becoming the routine savior of the Mushroom Kingdom. Since then, he's been known for chowing down mushrooms, saving ladies, and having an extensive list of side careers. Even heard he's had a stint in the medical field! Does this man even have a license?

Mario is certainly not new to these tournaments, but has had quite the rocky history thus far. Most infamous of all was his experience with some, shall we say, shitty conduct by 2022 finalist Jack Frost. Still, he has started to stand up to his critics and gotten surprise sympathy among anons. Now, with the help of his little bro, he's made it to Elite Eight for the first time in any tournament. He may not be the most boisterous candidate, but Mario remains a timeless mascot for our beloved vidya. Can he translate that into a full victory here?

Now in the other corner, who have we got? On the literal flipside, we've got a man whose rivalry with Mario stems back to playground games. Give it up for the fat man himself, WARIOOOOOOOOOO!!! Weighing approximately 308 pounds and often letting his muscles speak for themselves, this brute has garnered many riches over the years between his treasure hunting endeavors and low budget video game company. Some say he's a man of mystery, while others will call him the most honest guy you'd ever meet. One thing is for certain: Wario will go for the gold, and he's really been itching to take it in Co-Op 2024!

Wario has had a very successful career thus far over in King of /v/, making it out with two elite runs and narrowly missing a third just last year at the hands of his friendly sparring partner Ivo Robotnik. Still, he had a rough go last year here on /tnt/. It's been quite nice to see him pull off a huge comeback in 2024, particularly at the hands of one brilliant campaign manager! Will he fall here in the semis, or can Wario take it all the way to his first tournament win?

We won't keep you waiting much longer folks! It's about time for these two heavy hitters to finally spar off in one match to remember. Tune in later as we cover the lead-in for their two lanky partners.

I will say on Death: he's a good character and a fitting associate for Dracula. Outside his great RP this year, I do think he also makes for the weakest link out of the remaining eight. It's not for him being a bad match to Dracula, but more just the other three remaining teams all having a high bar for synergy between each partner. That being said, I do agree that it's been a treat to see him get so much time in the spotlight here.

Am I dreamin’ or what, Mac baby? You’ve just broken your record from Heroes of /v/ and closer to getting the belt! It looks like all that training in Smash paid off, and you were able to take down the Final Destination so hard they had to go to the Orthopedist. What’s surprising about the last round is that there were plenty of blackouts in the ring, meaning that there was an hour of overtime. The wait was so long, we weren’t even sure if the count would be stopped! I guess with this round, we’ll finally get our answer from the man himself.

Count Dracula is Transylvania’s head honcho and the immortal enemy of the Belmont family for centuries. He rules his domain with an iron fist and is fueled by his hatred of humanity, opting to steal men's souls and make them his slaves. Considering that the Grim Reaper is his right-hand man, he’s no slouch when it comes to being an angry chump, and everyone is afraid of that guy! But not you, Mac baby, you can look Death straight in the face and give him a black eye. Speaking of Death, have you noticed that he’s been using foul language quite a lot in this tourney? Maybe he needs to learn a new language, like French… or chocolate… mmm… La Maison du Chocolat… where was I? Oh yeah, this bonehead is also an angry old chump that will be punched into dust.

It’s one thing to stop the count, but it’s your thing to make this Count down for the count! What is a Mac? The kid who will brighten Dracula’s day by punching some sunlight in his pale face! But enough talk, Mac baby, let’s knock this blood sucka back into his coffin and get into the finals!

Well first I'd teach them how to make a proper New York style pizza. Make them a nice dinner, throw in some fine wine and candles. After that, I like to take a nice shower to let my pores open up a little. Gets me in a good mood. I'm not sure if robots even CAN shower, but I'd still welcome giving them a nice massage. After that, we find a huge bed and get ready to get frisky. I'm a pretty vanilla dom, but Luigi? Now he's into some real kinky shit! Got a thing for pegging, even experimented with pet play in the past. He might be a better fit for that wolf gal, though I'm not sure how to feel about fucking the chicken instead. Hey, long as she can keep it tight, that's still a go for me!

Considering the double whammy of Tabitha mentions found on /aco/ archives and Black Hand's report, I could see her just giving up on some kind of Pastebin at this point.

Conversely, maybe Ghost herself is stepping down? A lot of people did get upset after the Dominos revelation, and she could simply just feel pressured at this point.

We found messages and Discord pronouns of NSA calling herself a girl. Really only three possibilities here.

>NSA is lying for some reason, maybe to justify his weird sexual tastes.
>NSA is trans, which would be very ironic.
>NSA is actually a girl all along.

To support the last one, a lot of people have pointed out that they could have seen her easily being a former Tumblr regular. Drawing style comes off as more feminine, as does some of her sexual tastes. The only actual piece of evidence I've seen to contrary is one of the earlier suspect messages having allegedly NSA say something about "not wanting to come off as a girl", but that's still pretty loose if it even was her.

From what we’ve gathered from OFA (aka NSA) is that their philosophy on characters greatly contrasts to the average tourney goer. The average anon would like to see their main win, OFA instead only likes to see their main do good but not be permanently retired as his most important part of these tournaments is OC’s apparently and when a character wins they’ll not have the chances to do OC for said character again.

It's fair if you weren't here for all that, but that was the gist. Quickest summary I can give is to simply link to the wiki page on the whole ordeal. It sources key posts that helped people make the connection.

I’d predict that several of the top 10 seeds would be SCPs, but all of them would job due to people’s shifting negativity towards them over the years. The most likely finalists aren’t clear-cut, but if the tournament focused specifically on monsters or other anomalies I could see something like Wendigo vs. Grays.

I love Mario, but Mario and Wario is conceptually speaking just one of the funniest games ever made. Like, EVERY LEVEL Wario drops a bucket on Mario's head, and EVERY LEVEL you need Luigi to pull the bucket off for you. Poor Mario, after world 4 I'd hope you would figure it out yourself.

Alright, we're back covering the dream fight between the Super Mario Brothers and Partners in Crime! This time the two team's lean sidekicks are stepping into the ring to settle the score.

First off, Mario's younger steps out of the shadows and into the arena to fight with twice the bro power! Give it up for LUIGIIIIII!!! While these two may be twins, you wouldn't be that surprised to learn that this timid green-clad stick of a man was born second of the two. Still, even if he might not have quite the natural talent of his brother he still packs a punch as well as a mean jump. He's also got a surprising degree of ghost-busting skills, sucking up spectral bitches left and right whenever he's called to the job.

Luigi is another former elite, having made his debut to the roster in 2022 after taking down... hold up, THAT Christopher Robin? Well, I imagine spending too much time with Battler would leave me feeling weaker too. His run may have come short against Chaos destroyer incarnate Jack Garland, but it turns out Luigi actually matched Wario's own initial ranking back in 2019. Not bad for the softer spoken brother. Actually, Luigi HAS been known to be more talkative outside of matches, but he seems to usually keep quieter during rounds. There have been some rumors circulating about his mental state ever since a couple years back. Thankfully for him, the regulars of /v/ and /tnt/ don't seem to mind a crazier competitor here or there.

Last but, well, HE will tell you that he's the best of the bunch. We've got Wario's ever-present sporting buddy and five time Smash snub, yours truly, WALUIGIIIIIIII! Now "Partners in Crime" isn't just an attempt to avoid name infringement with the Mario clan: Waluigi truly isn't Wario's brother. From what I've heard in the pipeline, this guy just showed up one day to play tennis and the two have come together like peanut butter and jelly ever since then. I'm never one to dunk on a bromance here, but I do find it surprising how Waluigi has NEVER found himself in the credits making any of Wario's games. Not even a special thanks for the eggplant champ? Could it be an attempt to throw off claims of nepotism, simple disinterest, or something more sinister? Who knows! I'm not one to pry.

Waluigi is known for one thing nowadays in King of /v/, and it's not the best remark. Not only has he had the worst round track record out of any of the four iconic overall lovers, but he's also had several misses qualifying due to the tournament's tougher three series limit. Seems that /v/ just can't stop riding old King Koopa to free up a slot for Waluigi. Still, despite the odds against him this Co-Op has finally given him some chance to shine against even some tough competition! Seems Wario lending a hand made all the difference.

With all four combatants covered, there's plenty of time to watch them finally spar off in the ring! Who will win out in the end? Can the Super Mario Brothers live up to their historic legacy and earn a guaranteed spot on the podium, or will Partners in Crime hype up their fans enough to push through their self-imposed rivals? It's time to find out in Co-Op 2024!

By the way, what the hell is Waluigi wearing? I get his symbol is weird to work around, but the exposed shoulders? Would have been less embarrassing if he just went bare- oh, is this mic still on? My baaaaad!

What about Waluigi? I mean, looking at it he's THE spinoff character. He originated in Mario tennis, they've never once made him playable in a mainline Mario game. He's in spinoffs galore, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Mario Sports, but never a "regular" Mario game. He fight be the most fitting example of that rule there is.

>>102623
Well he was let into King of /v/ due to the spin-off clause, but not sure how that will be approached going forward considering the backlash he got in particular over it. Regardless, for Co-Op he's not really a crossover since his interactions with Wario mostly all come from those specific games.

Z: Welcome back to CO-OP 2024! Sorry about the technical difficulties at the end of last round, we're hoping it doesn't happen again. Anyway, that's not important, what IS important is the teams that have advanced to the Semifinals! Let's go over who won and their current matches this round.
B: The first match was between the Partners in Crime and and Wright and Co. Law Offices. The plan was to bring Wario and Waluigi to justice for everything they've done in the tournament, or even outside of it. You'd think that their team name would result in the case being resolved quickly, but they were surprisingly smart and managed to stall the court for long enough that the round was over. They did it by bringing claims that Wright had caused the 9/11 incident, bribing people to come cause chaos and seemingly even going as far as making a deal with the Devil himself.
Z: This sounds completely absurd, how did this work?
B: Hey, that's the legal system for you, it's a mess. In any case, Partners in Crime did manage to get more votes than Wright and Maya, possibly by also bribing the voters.
Z: Bribes are, in fact, not against the rules of the tournament, so congratulations to the team for winning this round! Now, for the second match of the round, we had the Army of Two face off against The Super Mario Brothers... I'll be frank, we lost some of the footage due to the technical issues. The crew here said that they mi̵sse̵d whatever caused them and we have n̶o clue what happened, but it was some kind of glitch. In the end, we don't know how it went down, but we do know that the victor of the match were The Super Mario Brothers!
B: Turns out it takes an entire army to take down the power of brotherly love, but them winning means the first match of the Semifinals is a match between rivals. Mario and Luigi against Wario and Waluigi, this is a match that has happened many times before outside of these tournaments, in multiple different kinds of sports. Will sportsmanship prevail, or will dirty tricks be the real way to win?
Z: With rules as lax as these, one of those definitely has an advantage over the other, but who knows what will happen? Maybe we'll be surprised, only time will tell; but we are not done yet, we still have two teams left to talk about it this round!
B: Yes, the third match of the last round was between the Lords of Chaos and The Slayers! Death comes to us all, and The Slayers were no exception. Despite all their experience in dealing with various monsters and demons, they forgot to pack some holy water, and lead was not particularly effective on the Count. The round looked Grim at first, and it looks Grim now as Dracula and Death advance to the Semifinals!
Z: These were the strongest team they faced, but The Slayers were slain like the rest. Anyway, back to the boxing match! The last two teams facing each other in the previous round were Final Destination against the Knockout Kings. As it turns out, the Final Destination was the Quarterfinals as Master Hand and Crazy Hand tried to punch above their weight and lost. In this battle of gloves, the ones that came out on top were the boxing gloves of Little Mac.
B: For two fists, they had a surprising lack of experience when it came to boxing, ending with them finally K.O.-ed. Little Mac and Doc Louis advance, giving us our second match of this round: The Lords of Chaos versus the Knockout Kings! Boxing against Death itself, this will be Mac's toughest match yet. Some say Death is inevitable, but if anyone is able to dodge it, it's a boxer as great Little Mac. Sorry to the other teams, but this is the most interesting match this round; I'm going to be at the edge of my seat watching this match go down!
Z: I agree, Bobby! This round is going to be tough, and not just for our contestants, but also for the audience at home. This is a hard choice to make, the winners will go on to the Finale, the stakes are high! There's no need to vote yet, we're still in the beginning of the round. Instead, let's watch the teams in action!

First of all, his ass is FAT. You'd need an 8-inch monster to even BEGIN penetration, let alone go deep. And if you got around it, he'll have a Wario Waft charged up and can just blast himself off like pic related.

I had a number of other teams I wanted to have a shot with this co-op and it worked out sort of fine. Torres went out before he was the only character I had left.
I think that the potential in these tourneys are in the niche and fresh characters, so I'm often more interested in just trying something new each time instead of retreading ground too much.

Probably should have said nothing since this kind of discussion is already frequent enough in other places. More was just an off-hand comment.

We don't know how much the next game is going to shake up the roster. I think the people actually expecting a full-on reboot are off their rockers, but I do expect there to be a few tougher cuts. For what it's worth, I do think both series still have decent shots at returning. Little Mac is the only true boxer on the current roster and Konami seems willing to whore out their IPs for not too much in return. Sakurai seems to have a soft spot for both series as well if he's directing once again.

>Why would we lose Punch-Out? Nintendo owns him.
It all depends on how cuts would generally be approached. I've seen some say that most of the cuts would be third-parties, but I'm a little skeptical of that? Most of the relevant companies are major Japanese publishers that would ideally keep decent relations with Nintendo, along with them being quite accepted into Smash by now. My personal prediction is that there will be a surprisingly even mix of first- and third-party cuts next game.

>If that were the case then Duck Hunt should be gone too.
Well Ultimate's direction meant neither were seriously considered to be removed. Little Mac is a whole other matter, but sadly Duck Hunt's chances might be shakier. There's several NES specific picks, and despite that game's legacy in terms of fighters I believe they're the least popular of that bunch? Just glad they happened.

And honestly, Mario Bros would only be dissapointing on the account of only really seeming to put in effort during this round, and the star fox round compared to partner's tourney-wide effort. They're still good characters, even if I totally prefer Partners in crime both character and campaign wise. Lords of Chaos has really grown on me, I still prefer Punch out just a little more and it's who I'm voting for, but it'd be totally understandable if they took this round

I'd actually go with the Ice Climbers first as well. I know some people do quite enjoy them, but early addition aside I'd say it would be more than fine to not have them back EVERY game if it comes to it. Still, as I said they do have that fighter legacy backing them. Not sure how much that will matter, but I do think Duck Hunt's at least shaky enough to mention that.

On the flipside, I think R.O.B.'s odds of returning are being undersold. Despite his actual games being dogshit, he's quite iconic as a peripheral. More important than that, however, is that he a very unique fighter who's also gotten way more popular in terms of use with Ultimate. In general, I think some people are sleeping on fighter usage as a factor in who might return assuming Nintendo has significant data surrounding that. The Belmonts don't rank that high sadly from what I've seen on it, but it would actually help Little Mac a lot considering he seems to be decently popular to use.

I do hope the third-parties are the first to go if they make cuts. Nintendo still has a bunch of franchises that could be added or get new additions. Next game could be themed around heroes vs villains/antagonists with how many Nintendo owned series could still use one.
>Punch-Out (Any of the boxers Mac faces)
>Mother (Porky and Giygas)
>F-Zero (Black Shadow)
>Yoshi (Kamek)
>Wario (Captain Syrup)
>Pikmin (Louie)
And then you could add even more villains/antagonists on top of the series that already have some. Waluigi is a must have next game.

Kek. I do get what you mean. Roleplay can also be harder depending on the competition at play. I know the Mario Bros have seemed to been fluxing in terms of good roleplay opportunities this tournament. (Their drier reactions don't help, but can at least still work with the right interactions.)

All that said, it is kind of funny how Mac has the perfect excuse to remain quiet here. Doc can easily do the heavy lifting on that, but even then I've gotten a laugh of that guy who keeps pasting Little Mac's Star Punch onto the Princess guy's templates.

Much as amiibo Festival was a stinker, at least it had cute value and a couple semi-interesting modes. (Desert Island would have been amazing as a cheap standalone title, so it's great it came to New Leaf a year later.) From that year, I'd say that Zip Lash is one of the worst experiences I've ever had from Nintendo period, and I've played a fuckton of Nintendo games.

New stages at least seem like a given next game with how many Ultimate reused, along with there being a way bigger time frame between it and whenever next game comes out. (For reference, there were barely three years since Smash 4's last DLC and Ultimate's launch, meaning way less new games to cover.) To be quite honest, I could see Oatchi and the new cadet being added as a more "straightforward" fighter compared to the far more technical Olimar. Alternatively could have Olimar work with Moss in some fashion, but would be surprising to see them overhaul him with that heavy of a new gimmick.

>Pikmin seems to be at its peak popularity right now.
Very nice to see right now. It is a shame that most of the increased sales seemed to hit mainly in Japan, but regardless it's nice to see the series sell so well. Hopefully a fifth game isn't ten years off.

B: That it has, Zach, and any of the remaining teams winning this round will make for a perfect ending to it!
Z: Speaking of the teams, they've all been doing great this round- as expected of the Semifinals!- and I can't guess who the winners will actually be. What about you, Bobby?
B: I can't either, but I am rooting for the Knockout Kings to win. Even if do lose, their run has been amazing and the Lords of Chaos also will make for great finalists; I can't complain about whoever will win!
Z: Same here, and same for the match between the Partners in Crime and The Super Mario Brothers! There's only half an hour left before we do find out who wins, and if you haven't voted, make sure you do so by then. See you at the Finals!

They were great. If you want to mix things up next year, I know the perfect partner for Larry: Mark Thresher.
>Funkadelic
Didn't think much of them, but I love the first ToeJam and Earl game so I voted for them.
>We're Tech, Therefore We're Games
Really liked them and wish they went further.
>...And I Must Sing
Wasn't my top pick for AM but I liked the campaign.

Well, this was not for us to decide certainly. /tnt/ found us enjoyable and it their decisions to make the slayers the 5th.
Also we got the least amount of 8th place votes

Well it was a great run! While I do wish we could have been a little more vocal around the brothers, still had a fun time doing some roleplay with them and seeing them both technically hit a new record. It was nice seeing them end off against their two recurring rivals, and I wish them the best of luck in the coming finals.

Might be back with an idea I have for Mario during /cov/ and hopefully can be more active around it. Otherwise, there's always King of /v/ at the end of the year.

Honestly would work much better for Not Shane than the narrator. Originally the partner was Brock from Pokemon, so if I'm not in the mood for Helltaker next year I'll go for that. I'd call them "Catch My Heart"

I'm really happy someone has been having fun doing the Mario brothers. While I was putting a lot of effort for Mario through his "should have been" campaign I think it has gathered people's interest enough so he and Luigi can stand out with their respective posters. Also I was busy doing Star Foxes

Honesty, I'm quite surprised to see how liked Art of Pokemon was; I'm going to re-nominate them next year then.
I did have alot of fun using them back in qualifiers, and I was disappointed that a joke team got more votes instead.

Wait, you two were the same guy? Did not know that, though it does explain why I thought you both mentioned taking a backseat on campaigning past few rounds. Maybe they could have gone all the way if there was more energy this week, but I'm more than fine having them settle for 3rd or 4th here. Partners in Crime DID deserve the finals spot after getting top seed two times in a row, after all.
