Now I adore Dragonball as a franchise. It was the first anime I watched, and it was the one that got me to visit /a/, and 4chan as a whole for the first time. I have the entire DragonBall Z and Dragon Ball Super on Blu-ray, and have the whole VizBig manga release for Pre-Z Dragonball. I have four voice actor signatures, all of which I got at separate conventions (Chris Sabat, Sean Schemmel, Stephanie Naldoyny, and the guy that voiced Roshi+Yajirobe). I've spent hours discussing hypothetical DragonBall fights and powers with friends, played several of the video games, and saw Resurrection of F in theaters. Toriyama's death hurt my heart greatly.
But as far as an /a/ PROTAGONIST?
It's Guts. He's THE protagonist. Better then any /v/ or /co/ winner, and just one of the best protagonists in literature of his century. Maybe millennia. He's the absolute embodiment of resolve and the struggle to live, even when you don't know why. Golden Age, and the Fantasia arc flashback of when he was a war slave were just utterly beautiful writing. And he's so fucking cool, no sword is the big-dick sword like Dragonslayer is. Just a fat hunk of iron that's swung really hard, no frills or bullshit or special powers or complicated design or pretentious legends. Only the means to bloodshed, the core of what swords are made for.
Although to be desu if it can't be Guts, Gyro Zeppeli would be a pretty sweet /a/ winner as well.

So, a threeway? Oh geez, talk about awkward. I never thought the tournament would hear my complaints about having to do battle with two innocent fairies, but I would never expect my next foes to be two feminine androids, a talking frog, and a gravity-defying eggplant man all at once.

Actually, Albert, there was something like that back when I was trying to take out the trash. See, the pickup truck always skips over my evil headquarters and my Garbage-Disposal-inator didn't work that day so I had to manually lug my garbage bag over to the nearest dumpster that was about five miles from where I was at. On my way, I bumped into two wig-wearing Roombas that were on display for Danville's "Turn-Your-Appliances-Into-Dolls Fair", had a Mongolian throat-singing frog continuously pester me on my tiring walk, and got knocked in the head by an abnormally massive eggplant that was thrown from someone's window. It was a hassle to get there, but then again, maybe I should've used the Incinerate-inator on my garbage.
