Now without further ado, I can safely say, place your bets now.

Speaking of which, when the winners of this year get revealed, I will adjust the game to 48 tributes. By then, I will also add the other characters on the poll who didn't get in. Maybe I could even do an avatars game sometime later which could include the plunderers, the monarch and many of us interacting here. As always, glad to have you here.

I’m pretty sure I’m about to repeat something Armstrong already said before, but ideally a deserving winner should be someone who gets lots of great OC and also is a good character on their own. I don’t see the point of dragging down campaigning at a time where these events have evolved far beyond being simple popularity contests; campaigners are not entitled a win, however without them the tournaments would be rendered pointless and, at worst, their complaints are understandable.
Nobody is interested in seeing someone cruise through the bracket by name recognition alone. This is the reason why I voted againts Daffy last year despite me personally liking him slightly more than Zorak; not because I thought it would be predictable, or because the latter was some ebin underdog on a miracle run, but because his fags were acting like smug retards and didn’t make anything worth a damn in support of him during the entire round.

In other words, vocal minority > silent majority every single time.

To me campaigning is good for getting a character far but in finals the consideration should fall on the actual better winner. Ultimately I think it's keeping the tournaments board and medium representative (best character winner) vs. tourney representative (inner-contextual meta winner's, i.e. through OC and campaigning). Obviously there's some overlap but the former factor holds more weight to me.
And Armstrong's ms. /co./ post had an agreeable sentiment but it's worth noting the context and timing was terrible. It was basically railing against Chel for cruising but failed to consider her opponent was rigger nigger Shirley who, despite having a real campaign, was illegitimate and far less of a character. Considering Chel ended up losing by like 4 votes that Armstrong poster might've been responsible for the shit final.
No.22780
Anonymous
>>22757
Nope, so far all 4 tournaments decided on randomized first rounds, the time for a 1st seed knock out by 128th seed has passed unless another frost situation happens and people want seeded brackets again or the off chance the seeds fight against each other first round randomized.

The dragging down of campaigning right now is a knee jerk reaction to how people were disatisfied with how Tag Team 2022 went down and the results with the calling out of completely inactive teams progressing to Sweet 16 then Elite Eight as well as some people that hated specific winners using the anti-campaigning push as an excuse to talk bad about them. It's basically contrarianism and sore losers.
No.22789

I actually thought of a different Armstrong post while writing mine, but yeah the sentiment being exposed was the same. If anything your stance is certainly the most correct, but at the end of the day deciding the winner based on their merit as board representatives can come down to being a matter of opinion too.
Something like, I don’t know, Donald vs Jameson, Madotsuki vs Beatrice, Travis vs AM etc, would be impossible for me to decide without taking any of the contextual tournament meta into account.

Bahamut DLC is alright, comes with a few new jobs and enemies but it's mostly a new difficulty mode. Gilgamesh DLC is great and probably the most fun out of the two. It comes with the Blue Mage job, the Rift Labyrinth which is a dungeon that gets harder the further you go, some extra unlockable items and of course the Gilgamesh boss fight. Emperor DLC seems to be more story oriented.

People SHOULD complain about Christopher Robin. He's not a /v/ character plain and simple and the fact Nightshift banned actual /v/ characters that followed all the rules but he couldn't bother checking a wiki (X and Nega) and got far is incredibly dumb. I get it, he was fun to post in threads, but imagine if someone like Frieza was actually in Mr. /co/ and managed to make it 4 rounds. I still think Battler would have jobbed to Luigi though.

Yugi I'm okay with since he only usually appeared whenever threads had bumped or were close too. Battler I'm more mixed on, big supporter of him for full disclosure, but if my experience is like anyone else's it's not that losing was the problem but all the frustrating circumstances surrounding it.
>Got killed in R3, which sucks since a lot it was a lot of OC contenders getting killed and being replaced by (imo) less engaging campaigns.
>Getting killed by Christopher Robin, who after waking up was actually a fun heel presence in R3 just to completely fucking disappear in R4, making the loss even more bitter.
>Lost by a small number of votes, I want to say one of the smallest vote differences last year.
>There was a large number of vidya adjacent / whitelisted characters in 2022, I'm not against technically vidya like Tony Hawk / Pepsiman etc but there was just too many of them in running, and this is compounding upon all the aforementioned issues with Robin.

I think if he lost in any other round, against any other contender there would have been less complaining.

This is something I saw coming from a mile away. You NEVER want to meme your own main as a jobber. Yeah, it opened up Battler to some more campaigning, but in the long run, it will only do damage. When you meme your main as a jobber, people who want to get in on the joke will vote them out to keep the joke running and actual fans of the character will feel pressure.

Perhaps 47 is getting dragged in Round 4 due to Battler voters, but it’s hard to say.
I’ll check 47’s R4 results for each year when I get home as I’m interested now.

I think the thing with 47 is that he ends up going up against characters just as popular and well-known as him with strong campaigns while he doesn't have a lot in comparison campaign-wise. 2020 he lost to Jetstream Sam, 2021 he lost to Brad Armstrong, who isn't as well known as 47 but had a lot of vocal support going for him, and 2022 he lost to Wesker. If he gets some more campaigning going on, I can see him easily reaching Elite Eight, which I'm hoping to change this year. Shoutouts to the 47 writefag btw, his stuff was great.

Impact often requires decent popularity and SMT is a popular series in its own right. It wouldn't be going on for over 3 decades with 15 games and 3 spinoff series with one that spawned its own spinoff games if it wasn't popular. Even if we pretend like SMT is some underground cult series nobody cares about, it's a /v/ tournament. Most of the people voting in it have dedicated large parts of their lives to gaming. People here know who Jack is. Jack also has a memorable and cute design that will attract people voting who don't care about any of the 3 franchises in question.
