This board is for hosting tournaments and other organized competitions, be it either events, contests, or anything where a winner must be determined through votes or otherwise. Just for this board, image duplicates are enabled and the bump limits are set extra high. Roleplaying is encouraged, unless event hosts ask otherwise.

How do we feel about characters being nominated just so they can be in the bottom or barred tournaments?
It kind of bloats the nominations and takes some of the fun out of these side tournaments. But it also lets some more niche campaigns happen. I'm torn.

There's nothing wrong with that. Some might say it's "unnatural" but I don't see it.

About as natural as it gets. You didn't try to influence anyone's votes, just let the character's natural obscurity take its course.

For Barred, that's basically the point. Joke nominations that are barred from entering.
For Bottom, if you actually like the character (for any reason) and don't outright say "don't vote for him he needs to enter Bottom!", it's fine.

You should be nominating for the main tourney which is the actual event. Nominating for side stuff on purpose is bloat and artificially constructing those tourneys, and makes the hosting work more difficult.
