►Basic Eligibility Requirements
It is preferable for a character to be from a video game.
Characters of any gender are eligible.
Any character making their first debut in the entirety of the previous month is ineligible to compete.
Previous winners of the mainline /v/ tournaments are ineligible in an effort to keep things fresh.
Real-life people, OCs and Board-tans are not allowed.

Actually Order of Ecclesia and Mega Man 9 both came out in 2008.
If you count Harmony of Despair or Lords of Shadow they came out in 2010, as did Mega Man 10.
Either way, whatever releases we had won't stop me from schooling you, 20XX style!

The sad part is Peppino would be amazing if he had an actual campaign going. I guess it's ironic that the biggest losers are the ones with the most hubris. But being my servants isn't so bad. You'd be wearing black stylish uniforms, live in a luxurious mansion and the kitty would receive regular mandatory head pats and ear scratches. Lots of people would kill to be in this position.

It's the chaos factor. Despite the name of the game, /v/illains has been a lot more chill and stagnant with few upsets outside of a few qualifiers losses. Heroes got absolutely chaotic at times with a decreasing vote margins, all the ongoing story arcs, and the fact every thread had its own massive meme and gag. There was also how Eggman's whole campaign this time was actually brought about by Heroes. I don't really mind too much as the OC and characters making it this far have been incredible still.

I know this might be out there, but I genuinely just wanna complain on how we didn't get Karl vs Torres match up but Kazuya vs Torres instead.

No offense to Kazuyabro, he was also a damn good campaigner but Karl and Torres were among the very few characters in this tourney that had among the greatest campaigns, are great characters themselves and have a lot in common.
Not to even mention the near god-tier campaigners they had, Torres and Karl have the same mentality of thinking they're doing the right thing by doing heinous stuff and both have a schizophrenic rants that sound reasonable until they go to the edge in an instant.

I also am complaining because we didn't get to see Karlanon and Torresanon interact.

That's likely why I feel this Elite has been a resounding "meh" for me. I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining, but the majority of the E8 (not going to name names) in my opinion are composed of boring, safe choices who were obviously going to take the spots right from the start. To put it another way, you're probably never going to see another amusingly bizarre darkhorse in the E8 like Not Shane ever again, especially after Thresher jobbed the first round despite his potential.

But yeah, it's definitely the chaos factor that made Heroes more fun for me personally, or perhaps the fatigue is finally getting to me.

I don't think there's an issue with the E8 being so called "boring" and "safe" if most have been trying really hard. I don't think boring and safe is a good complaint at all honestly. It shouldn't matter how iconic or underrated a character is when choosing them. It should matter how much they put in and how much people like them. I will at least say Louie is definitely not "boring" and "safe". He had a quite few close calls and him getting here is a welcome surprise after not qualifying in King, how bad he did with Olimar in Co-op, and how Olimar lost round 1 in Heroes. There's also the brutal 3-way he had last round. Then there's James who has also been surprising with the mixed performances of Pokemon in these. Of all the Pokemon characters to get this far, I'm glad it was him and not some coompick (even if Gex Maniac posting was funny). So if you want darkhorses to back, there's them I guess. I don't know. I think those two deserve more than the title of darkhorse because that has its own connotations too.
tl;dr: Everyone has been trying really hard and calling characters boring and safe is a not a valid complaint and popularity while shouldn't be the only reason to vote by, it isn't a bad for a character to get some leverage from it.

This is the story of a team, whose members were called James, Jessie and Meowth.
The Trio were participating in a tournament to decide who was the best villain of /v/.
Their job was simple, they had to show people that they were the very best, and had people vote for them.
They were good at what they were doing, (unlike Stanley), and they gained plenty of support, enough to reach the Elite 8.
This is where we are now.

As the Team Rocket Trio reached the quarterfinals of the tournament, they were met by someone called Celestia Ludenberg.
This woman, simply put, was a bitch. She completely deserved the humiliating defeat she was about to face at the hand of Team Rocket.
The Trio had come up with a plan to not only gain favour with the audience, but also to show that "Team Rocket means business!"
Their plan was quite simple: use a big robot and mess with the girl. And so, the plan was sent in motion, and the Trio went to build their bot.


I'm not sure how they get these robots, but I'm not going to question it. They are going to act as my revenge on this girl for having defeated Stanley so boringly, his loss wasn't as entertaining as I would have liked, you see.
Anyway, after having gotten their mech, the Trio sent out to show Celestia her place.
After they reached her-

Meowth: Hey, quiet you! It's our fight, it's our time to talk!
Hmph.
James: Impressed yet, little girl? Being rich won't help you this time. It never helped me, anyway.
Jessie: Anything you want say before we show you how a true villain wins?
Celestia: I-
Nonono, don't let her talk, it'll be funnier if she doesn't get a word in. Just do whatever that robot was meant to do, probably grab her!
Jessie: Who are you to give Team Rocket commands?!
James: And where are you?
I am just a voice in your head telling you what I think would be best for you to win. Now, let me return to my script.

After exchanging words, the Trio used their "grabby robot" to do... exactly that, grab.
They drove their mech forward, extending its arms towards Celestia.
Despite her best but poor efforts to run, Celestia couldn't outrun Team Rocket's mecha and saw herself clenched in its claws.
Unable to do anything else, Celestia was then thrown exactly where she belongs since the result of Round 2.

Meowth: You know, you sound bitter, "voice-in-my-head". Did this girl beat you or something?
Just throw her in the dumpster already.
Meowth: Alright, alright...

Having being tossed in the filth, the only thing lower than Celestia's pride was her chance of winning this round...
Hahahahah! Take that! Do you see this Stanley? Now this is how someone wins!

I would say 6 is easier to immerse yourself into because it has better pacing. You don't have to play the series in order and each one stands on their own. I ended up liking 6 later on besides dropping 12 when I was first introduced into the games as a kid. I used to think they were overrated and just bland at first, but over time found to appreciate some of them. I can see why they're not for everyone.

That's good to know. To be frank, I was nervous about taking his role in the first place, as I'm not very experienced with roleplaying (I used to fuck around in Ace Attorney Online with my friends a lot but those court session were just big nuclear wastelands of shit-posting), however now I feel confident not just in my ability to write him but other characters I'm interested in campaiging for.
Also, I was thinking it would be a fun idea to take those 11.ai audios of his callouts and make them into a video in the style of the game intro, both for archival purposes and as a way to commemorate his tourney victories so far.

Ruina is the sequel to LobCorp, but you can play it first since it explains the events of LobCorp. I'd say if you're not a fan of LobCorp's gameplay, you can move on to Ruina. Don't be afraid to rewind to the Memory Repository or even fully resetting if things get really bad. You keep abnormality info and E.G.O. if you do either.
Leveling up agent stats is good. You can use LOB points or have them work enough to level up their stats.
Be sure to do all Core Suppressions before Day 46. You get a bad ending otherwise and the game will end prematurely depending on which ones you didn't do.
Read the manual and do the tutorial before starting. It'll get you acquainted with the basics.

I like Torres as a villain not just cause of his entertaining voice or batshit insane, almost inherently funny quality, but I genuinely think his writing is great. Or at the very least, I appreciate it a lot.

Torres himself is a great villain for a game like Ace Combat. Typically, the "Ace Combat villain" is some tragic other-side of the war kind of deal. They didn't ask to be there, or happen upon poor circumstances by participating and regret it. Lashing out in trauma or such.
But Torres doesn't give a fuck about any of that. He's designed as a "the most evil" character in the series. Even though it may not be obvious at first with his "noble intentions" and such.

His existence is implied to have been ever since the time of AC2, where his greatest feat of "glory" is displayed when he hits a ship in impossibly difficult and stormy conditions, but in AC04 (you) personally humiliate him as the player character. Yet for this, he's labeled a "hero" as he at least saved his crewmates from drowning.

Until... Just before AC7, he was returned to command when the Erusean extremists appear to have taken control of the government. They put him on the Alicorn, and after his massive ship ended up stuck on the bottom of the sea for 2 years, he was rescued, returning with a fiercly loyal and maddened crew. Save for the 30 people who died to the "attrition" of the depths.

So Torres returns with a superweapon, and when the war in AC7 starts, he has his loyal soldiers defy the command of Erusea (spoilers) and steal nuclear weapons so that he could perform his "ten million relief plan" on the innocent citizens of Oured. Remember when I said that Torres had player-parallels? Well, this is where his relation to (you), Trigger/Three Strikes/the player come in again. You are "singularities" according to the AI that a glowie is using to assertain how you seemingly superhuman weapon-wielders will impact the war, and whether you are safe to keep around or not.

Torres and Three Strikes are both leading people of directly opposed factions, and both of them disobey orders to do what they want. They fight for their allies, but have to balance personal glory with moralistic stuff. The Captain is like a twisted avatar of the player in the best ways, and his dialogue pretty much acknowledning such is a great nod.
And finally, thanks to that glory-seeking bit, Torres is a character left up to your interpretation. Is he genuinely in support of nuking the enemy to create the "fear of MAD" like in IRL? Or is he just doing it to sadistically recoup his glory from his failure in AC04 by performing an even greater feat than that shot in the storm?

Typically when "evil version of the protagonist" is attempted it's just literal, but Torres is a well-made antithesis of (you) ontop of his already great music, the quality of the missions, and etcetera.

Even the mythological quality behind the "Alicorn" ties into his character, wherein winged unicorns (i.e Alicorns) are either harbingers of destruction and death, or representations of light.

Welcome to the most exciting part of the tournament: The Elite Eight showdown. Here, we see these eight powerful fighters go on head-to-head as we come real close to the finals.

At Match 1, both Dracula and Wily are creating massive fireworks as they shoot out flames, electricity, magic and all kinds of crazy projectiles at each other. They're not giving up without a fight that's for sure, but who will be going up to the semifinals?

At Match 2, Kefka is literally giving Erika the cold shoulders as he freezes her with his deadly ice magic. The girl tries to cut away with her scythe, but this proven to be a challenge as she has to constantly deflect his magical projectiles with her weapon. What will Erika do to get out of this situation?

At Match 3, Louie and his Pikmin army has aboard themselves onto Torres's ship and are preparing to enter it to attack him by surprise, but they ended up having fight off traps being laid everywhere as they venture inside. Will they make it out alive, or will Torres be the one to surface to the semifinals?

At Match 4, James is using his Cancea to shoves spikes towards Celestia, but the gambler is quick to dodge them and throws off her poker cards toward the grass-type Pokemon. James isn't done yet though as he orders Cancea to latch onto Celestia's face which she struggles to remove. Who will be the victor of this gamble?

I put so much effort in Tag-Team 2022. I prepared art ahead of time, I finally started making full colored art instead of just sketches and simple edits, and I thought things were going to be fun. Then everything fell apart. The host drama from last year damaged the tournaments for years to come, the roleplay wasn't nearly as active, and all the drama post-round 3 happened. To open up about why Louie has been the most fun I have had campaigning a character, it's because it has been in a drama-free tournament and I feel like I have been finally able to show fully what I can do with a campaign. I feel like had Louie lost earlier, I still would have been satisified since everyone has been having fun. I'm still trying to push him to win though. We'll see what happens in about 10 minutes.

Yeah, only stuff like Tifa vs Reimu and Eggman vs Batter weren't stomp-ish. I remember Dante vs Raiden being kinda boring (even if I like both as King material), and the other Queen tourneys kind of cooled off at the end.
Reimu vs Tifa seethe was kind of funny at the very least.
In any case, I hope with this tournament that we end up producing OC for the sake of it at the end. Don't matter if you've lost, cause it'd still be fun to get something out of it.
