I have an idea for a new tournament on /sp/. It's named Champion of /sp/, where anons will vote for the best sporting mascot. Unlike other tournaments, it won't be segregated by gender.
Rules:
>Nominate with pic, name and owner. One nomination per post.
>9 replies in a single post to make the cut.
>Winners retired and barred for entering in future tournaments.
>2nd-8th barred for one year.
>/sp/, /pw/ and /xs/ mascots.
>Esports will possibly also be included.
>Former mascots are eligible.
>I don't know we should make unofficial maacots (current and former) eligible, ineligible or eligible with requirements (example: be part of a hall of fame).
>Any style, including living mascots.
>Age doesn't matter.
>Owners can be teams, competitions, conferences, leagues, associations, etc..
>Mascots of other kinds of owners, like schools, allowed if:
>>For current mascots: Owner has at least one sporting team.
>>For former mascots: Owner had at least one sporting team when the mascot was active.
>Different versions of the same mascot are combined into a single entrant (example: Youppi!). I don't know if this should also apply to living mascots (example: Reveille).
>Three mascots per owner in the tournament (example: only three of the five mascots of the 2008 Summer Olympics can qualify), but no limit in the nominations.
>OCs and non-mascots are ineligible.
>I don't know if there will be a grandfather clause.

I forgot to add a rule:
>Mascots who debuted from the first day of the previous month of the tournament are ineligible.
>>11693
I don't think Olympics is a good name, as they have multiple events per edition, unlike this tournament. I suggest two other names:
>/sp/ecial Bowl.
>/sp/ [Insert month.] Madness.

Neat idea, I'd be down for it. You'd need to see how anons on /sp/ would like it though. If you don't have their support then it won't get off the ground.

I'm with this anon.
/sp/ecial Olympics sounds better. Not to mention we have the perfect themesong for it.

But Olympics are multiple tournaments, not just one.

I created a thread on /sp/ and I got a good feedback. The only bad one was criticized by them.
What should we do now?

If enough people gave their support, then I'd say go with it and start the tourney. Maybe wait a few days and try another thread to gauge interest. If the overall reception is positive, then by all means, do the tournament.

There are two problems:
>I'm not a tripfag, let alone a tournament host. I'm just an anon.
>What about the /sp/ janitors?

Ask the host for other competitions, he was in the /v/ thread.

Looks like Kansas Jayhawks' Jayhawk was (wrongly) nominated on Mr. /co/lympus but didn't get enough votes.

Well, looks like mascots are now allowed on the /co/ tournaments. Will this affect my idea?

Why not try it with players? That'd probably get more traction.

I have just decided to put my idea in the fridge for one year. I will see how the sports mascots will perform on both /co/ tournaments (and also spokestoons in case someone suggests a tournament on /biz/).
>>12589
Lol no. It would be just like if the tournaments on /a/ / /co/ / /mlp/ / /v/ were with staff members rather than characters. BTW, I think Mr. /fit/ is the only tournament with real people.

Good picks. Aniki would be guaranteed an Elite Eight spot, although if there was ever a /jp/ tournament, he'd easily win.
