>2. Kenshiro (character, earned the victory because FOTNS codified modern shonen)
>3. Phoenix Wright (funny, kind of bizarre choice, but neat he has a win)
>4. Hank Hill (interchangable with Wright, but loses points for having an easy bracket and underwhelming finale netting him the win)
>5. Matias Torres (literal fucking who DLC JPEG image from a series that's a haven among funposters that cause the dog to keep qualifying. Won through a lucky bracket and tournament has the worst E8 on /tnt/. Erika surprisingly would've been a more fitting winner)
>6. Griffith/Frieza (there's literally zero point in waiting to post this because either of these will be in this spot regardless, both are super boring and simply not winner material)

Doing the match off this formula, the point totals would be as follows:

There's been plenty of campaigning outside art. Not the first smaller tournament to lack much art behind it. Just this year, /an/lympics had several rounds with no real OC being made for it. Heroes also slowed down with its own art towards the end, and yet people who participated still generally enjoyed it.

I will give one point here that the voter total did have a surprisingly large drop from quarterfinals to semi-finals this time. I thought the winners that round were all generally quite liked here, so would be odd if the results really had that much of a direct affect on participation.

As far as activity late July-August this might just be a poor time of year to have tourneys. Enough time has passed that many regulars stopped visiting months ago, and the main tourneys aren't close enough to come back, and those remaining are saving energy.

If Frieza wins, we should give him a crown to wear in the usual five minutes pic for the main tournaments this year.

At the end of the day though, it's the last off-season tourney before the Mains start up and I imagine side tourney drawfags would rather wait for Ms. /co/ or Queen or whatever to start really cranking out art lest they get burned out (also given most people on /tnt/ are from either /co/ or /v/, not everyone is familiar enough with /a/ material to care). Either way I personally think this tournament has been very comfy

Better a comfy, quiet tournament than one where everyone is throwing a massive fit left-and-right like with /cov/ and /an/lympics.

So /a/ doubled down on the no grills trend and had no female E8 in either tourney.
Which one's could've actually got it? I think for heroes Madoka and Usagi/Sailor Moon were solid choices, but had shit bracketing. Yotsuba could've got it too but there was the Kenshiro wall.
For villains I kind of struggle. The last three remaining were Kneesocks, Squid Girl, and Revy. Kneesocks would've definitely been an oddball. Squid Girl and Revy were a possibility maybe in a different context but it would've been weird if Light and DIO were blocked out of E8 over them.

Generally speaking for /tnt/ tourneys (especially the tag ones but also these villain/hero ones) I always tend to think more about how fun it was to post about it rather than trying to fit some "expectation", this is why I think people who value "appropriate winners" soley on how "appropriate" they are rather than what experience they offered them are wasting their time.
Unless forced by some artificial consensus attempt, what matters on here is getting people to have fun. People who focus too much on pleasing some "standard" (in this case, inargural winners) in a competition that nobody but a handful of people on here (the wider net will never care that Doom is our fucking villain btw) give a fuck about may as well be typical moralfags afraid to upset some imagined larger society.
You're in a side tournament on a small board with a handful of autists trying to have fun and highlight their taste. Getting buttmad over either "generic/popular" or "literal who" picks winning or not winning is more or less a way of saying you don't think a tournament is worth having if it doesn't perfectly conform to someone's taste. If my pick is le bad according to some fag who thinks its not iconic enough, do I stop supporting it even though I like it myself? No I don't. I support what I want. If not, why have this tournament? I don't give a flying fuck about Dr. Doom, but I can still respect his win. Similarly I don't really like the original Co-Op winners but I don't shit on them due to being "unfitting".
People shouldn't need to consult Google analytics to vote for what they like. All of these winners are as good as each other and having diverse winners is part of the essence of these smaller tournaments.

I don't even disagree. /tnt/ is the autist side board so nothing wrong with some oddball shit. Torres is ironically actually a very "fitting" winner for /tnt/ despite what anon says. But /co/ and /v/ side stuff is treated largely like giving spotlight to characters and campaigning that aren't big in the main one's. Heroes/villains of /a/'s maybe a bit weirder though cause there's no main /a/ tourney and this may be the only one we get. So to an extent it's understandable sort of treating this like an "icon" thing.

I'm just tired of Heroes and Villains in general.

Here's the big hot take, I think he should've lost round 2 against Usagi. If she was the third placer or even just another Elite 8 spot, then that might actually be my favorite Elite 8 in any tournament.
