Think about it, your character when he wins is in a position of power and status above literally every other character (besides the other winners) so you can bend the candidates to his/her will and have them curry favor with the winner in exchange for support or whatever. Or you can just continue making OC of your character using his status as a ruler of /co/lympus
Also Zorak has posters that interact with the threads from time to time, same with Johnny Bravo in Ms. /co/

Might be a toss-up if this year is more course correction or more of a weird year, but either way I'd say it will at least be a decent time bar anything unexpected.

King is incredibly fun, but you got to know what you're getting into with it. The chaotic reception is absolutely justified for it.

I could ask this in the wiki thread, but might as well throw the question here while people are still reacting to the tournaments just ending for this year. The 2025 pages are set up in advance on the wiki, which means now would be a nice time to finally have some new art featured in the main infobox for the 2024 iterations. Right now it's just the /co/malgamations, which were previously there as options before the actual tournaments began.

If anyone here wants to go through the galleries and give opinions on what can be used for each tournament, go for it! Got a few in mind otherwise, but this could always help narrow it down.

I wonder how this will affect other Marvel characters in the future. They're basically under the same series, but it's hard to really push the same-series stigma against someone like Doctor Doom or other parts of the universe like an X-Man or something.

I don't think it'll be a big deal as far as Marvel as a whole goes. It more likely to raise a stigma about capes in general the next year. But in the long run Spiderman winning will probably only effect other Spiderman characters, namely JJJ, who prior to Spidey's surprise run this year was the strongest consistent comic rep.

Looking through the archives Eris was funnily enough the original /tnt/ pick. The Ms. /co/ hype thread on here from Summer 2021(which was also the first off-season discussion anywhere on here) was made by an Erisfag and she dominated thread posting.

Then there was a spike in people coming here after the tourneys almost got banned in late 2021 and /tnt/ got created.
Mid 2022 saw Temp create the first full blown side tournament, the first consistently running off-season threads also started in 2022. By early 2023 side tournament fever fully took off.

Despite things technically starting off here in 2020 there wasn't an off-season presense at all until mid-2021 and there wasn't a well established distinct ongoing vibe until the tail end of 2022/early 2023.

I wonder how different things would be if the jannies didn't ban Tag-team because of Fusefag.

Tag Team 2024 will only the second one really held with the mindset of being an offboard thing. 2020 started on /co/, 2021 people thought it was just temporary exile, in 2022 opinions on whether to go back to /co/ or not were mixed and Temp's failure basically killed the return faction. 2023's occured right when /tnt/'s boom as a 'distinct thing' was happening, albeit arguably before it was fully formed.

I think a huge symptom of this is Tag Team's schedule being moved. Despite King of /v/ starting the same year /co/ had zero issue holding 'Two's a /c/rowd' in December because /co/ and /v/'s tournament culture was seen as completely different so who cared?

This was also fine in 2020, but by 2021 several people wanted to 'make room' for the /v/ tournaments despite Temp refusing and by 2022 the move was completed and Tag Team Tournament 2022 happened in January 2023.
Huge sign of the shifting culture, though how much of this is because of /tnt/ and how much is just because both boards started sharing hosts in 2021 is hard to say. When /co/ and /v/ were completely seperate no one cared, like how /mlp/ has their tournaments overlap with Mr. /co/ and Queen of /v/ and no one cares. Due to all those factors now enough people crossover it's seen as an issue.

The one thing that irritates me is that Fusefag is still out there making threads after the shit he caused

There was one Ms. /co/ thread by a dedicated Erisfag started in June 2021 and that was pretty much it. Most of the off-season discussion still happened on stealth threads on /co/, that's where Team FART was coined.

That drama also unified /co/ and /v/ hosts which changed the way people thought about the tournaments especially once the wiki got going.

All this arguably started from anon forgetting to wake up in time and vote for Jack in R3 of Mr. /co/ 2020, causing Daffy to win by one vote and the whole rp bonanza to start which was the driving force for tag team 2020 and the earliest inner-tourney autism that carried over to this site. I still can't decide if it was for the better or not how these things happened.

The whole '/co/ vs /tnt/' debacle this year actually reminds me somewhat of the 'RPer Vs Anti-RPer Vs Compromise' thing we had in 2021. Anti-RP mostly one at least in Ms. /co/, Mr. /co/ was a compromise that's slowly crept back into RP territory. Especially since it's mostly the same split, most of the Pro-RP people back then are on /tnt/ and most of the anti-RP faction is still /co/ dedicated.

Something like /tnt/ was always going to happen. Eventually jannies would be done with having to monitor, discussion going past tournament dates since they are so huge which jannies don't want but we do, campaigning and meta was always happening, and Fuse was doing Fuse's thing and still would be if not for here. That was all going to add up and something like 2020's RP only sped up what was always going to happen

The Rise of /tnt/, Fall of Stats, Rise of NSA, Unification of the Hosts, and the RP-Debate all happening within two months in the same year as the Spitefest was a disaster

It would be possible but difficult to make. For starters I don't even know what you'd need to handle all tournament polls in-house. And there would need to be a massive system in place to handle frauds, which may end up being extremely inconvenient (forget 15 minute blocks, you'd need an OAuth2 google/facebook/whatever login to make votes).

That's also why I don't think any future winner will ever 'feel' on the level of Jenny. Jenny got a ton of off-season discussion on /co/ and it boosted her series coverage on the board a lot, there were a ton of extra MLAATR threads made and promoted by that.

Johnny was hurt by the circumstances of his win albeit he also got a notable discussion bump, Spinel's was fucked for obvious reasons, and Kronk was already a meme and didn't have enough material so not much change there. Monarch's boost was short lived as Fuse was already causing trouble and the cancellation boost was already there. Since then it just hasn't really been viable.

Jenny being voted the best /co/ girl in 2018 was discussed all over the board for quite some time, it's why votership ballooned so much between 2018 and 2019 even excluding the rigged Spinel stuff, so many people learned about it in the off-season. Probably also why numbers peaked in 2020 for the most part, since then there's no longer that factor.

The other 3 early winners all had other factors holding them back and no one else afterwards will ever be able to reap the same rewards as Jenny by sweeping /co/. Jenny is unique in that regard.

Even if /tnt/ is here forever we really have to re-split the hosting duties, it's too risky for a number of reasons. Along with the cultural issues and burnout, it raises risk. One bad host in 2018 effected just Mr. /co/ since Ms. had a different host(they were originally unaffiliated) and /v/ hadn't started yet. NSA being corrupt destroyed the credible of both /co/s and both /v/ tourmaments and damaged Tag Team thanks to Ghost/Domino.

Mr. and Ms. /co/ should have their own hosts apart from King and Queen. Tag Team and CO-OP should probably have their own hosts too.

That would require an SMS aggregator, which is more cost on my end, and a near certainty that nobody would bother voting. OAuth would be as far as I'm willing to go. Last time I checked you used google forms to create polls and that one required a google account, so it wouldn't be too different.

But the simple fact that you'd need to log in to plus4chan with your google account would already alienate a lot of people.

The main reason I remember hosts talking why mods dislike these after talking in their IRCs isnt even muh off topic(which you can barely make an argument for when Death Battle threads get the pass) but that oh it just gives us more work to do

This is only the second set of tournaments after /tnt/ fully came into it's own around the time of Tag Team 2022 and I'm not surprised there was so much 'Anti-/tnt/ Anti-/v/ what is tournament culture' discussion. There was a decent bit of it in 2022 even before things really got crazy here and it was only silenced in 2023 because of how much the weird results and NSA slow drip hogged the discussion. There's going to need to be some sort of reckoning or agreement between the people on /co/ who want the 2020 status quo back and no side tournaments and the people who want more side tournaments and continued /tnt/ stuff. Plus the whole issue of whether or not /v/ and /co/ should share hosts which NSA put a spotlight on.
