I feel bad for the one Roll campaigner doing the sprite comics having to put up with the other half of his character's campaign being Augie autism and "Roll is on heat!"
I think just for the one genuine Roll campaigner I'd say that Fio or Ashley Graham would've been more disappointing that year (fio because boring silentfag pick, ashley isn't bad but she was only there because NSA/OFA rigged out muffet)

This is supposed to be a base done in paint so someone with editing skills can make a proper chart with actual images out of it.

Battler should go at 75/80. He suffers quite a bit in Umineko what with having to see his family die constantly, being killed himself only to be revived so he can die again, getting trapped in a logic error, and becoming a crippled amnesiac with PTSD.
It's not really deserved in Umineko but with the tournaments in mind, it's absolutely deserved due to how much autism surrounds him.

Agent 47 is probably something around 60 suffering and 70 deserving
As cannon goes he does kill for money, but he himself was trying to quit multiple times and couldn't do it, and most of his targets are sort of bad people. Plus he was not once poisoned to faint death. And he also donates some of his money to church mostly to church he worked in as a gardener when he tried to quit . Most of his misfortune is due to him being a living weapon and he can't escape it
As tournament goes, he is really just a second fiddle to Battler, and it's his sin and his curse. As far as tournaments goes without loser brackets, he is always one place ahead of Battler, but with 2021 and 2022 it always means he loses as fast as Battler loses. And next to no one os making content for him. He is literally a but of a joke now without proper support.
Agent 47 is Jennety of jobbers, paradoxically it might look like he is actually Michaels, but he is still Jennety.

Yeah, if my main loses early next year and 47's in, I'll just switch to maining him. His games are nice and fun, and also pretty much the only big ones left in the stealth genre that had releases somewhat recently.
Also on the contrary to the usual talk, I think his TFR meme status could definitely help him, but you still have to put his games into the main focus for a campaign. I tried the same when I was funposting with Battler this year, starting with his Loser's Bracket match with 47, but I was too preoccupied to really go into it.

Much as I like AM, I few he's not THAT strong with the huge share of more silent voters. Points 3 and 4 are basically the same, and I'd call the second a detriment if anything.

Think about it this way. He made it into Elite Eight with some similar overlap to Batter and Grimm, and yet he lost. Yes, Garland was a special circumstance, but unless NSA actually heavily faked the numbers AM fell pretty hard against Garland and even JC. The latter is the most concerning on his odds of actually winning.

I mean, what other voters think of my characters doesn't really matter. But it's still disheartening to have people admit they are going to spitevote them out of fear of their own characters won't stand a chance.
What can I say, part of the point of partaking in these events is to get people interested in other media.
By the looks of it I'm not sure we have accomplished that with AM (yet).

The thing about Cirno is that the attention she has from ZUN is above average, but it's far below most other secondary protags. Aya is in the manga constantly while Cirno was last heard from in like 2019 in a manga chapter, few years after being playable, just as an example.
Even Flandre generally gets more cool moments to show off in stuff like 17.5 than Cirno's got over a lot of her existence. Without the juicy flavor moments, old memes take over.

>Shantae
Hypothetically yes. Issue is that she's garnered more of a stigma over the years due to being mostly silent. (She did have a couple anons around round one, but they seemed to vanish after the Madotsuki upset.) I could see her returning to Elite Eight, but only on a weaker bracket.
>GLaDOS
Absolutely. While not the most vocal of the usual powerhouses, she's highly beloved and has the track record to boot. I feel the OFA drama won't matter that much, although even if it did affect her I'd assume it would be solely for 2024.
>Maya Fey
She's not in the same league as the main two men from her series, but Maya is a fairly safe pick to push into E8. People simply like her and she's also quite low on any controversies. Feel a more vocal campaign can definitely take her down, but on a quieter bracket she's got good odds of coming back.
>Morrigan
While she's not going to be entirely forgotten, she's the quietest out of all these women for one. The worse tell is that she only returned in 2022 due to a fluke. If she's had that hard of a time returning, I'm not too confident in her coming back anytime soon. Not impossible (none of these picks are), but easily the least likely of the women here.

>Wario
He had a strong shot of making it this year if not for the unfortunate Eggman match-up. In many cases, he SHOULD have been a consistent three-timer like Kiryu. That's about all I have to say here.
>Heavy
Heavy has become more of a joke after his second elite run, considering he stuck out like a sore thumb amongst that crowd. I doubt he's losing Round 1 again, but I expect quite a bit of pushback going forward. I'd even go as far as to say that TF2 may be overestimated in general during these tournaments.
>JC Denton
While a mostly quiet pick, he's a fan favorite and a lot seemed willing to give him the win back in 2022. He COULD be taken down by either a more vocal pick or general powerhouse, but in general he's a tough one to take down. Only reason I can't see he's that safe a bet is due to Wario and the two below.
>Travis Touchdown
Travis quite literally plays on a similar field to JC, with the two currently having a 1-1 record against each other. While Travis isn't infallible, I feel his hype has still kept largely alive over the years. The fact he made 5th in what was a more uncertain year says a lot. Definitely could be taken down with the right toolset, but not without a serious fight.
>Phoenix Wright
He's one of the most consistent favorites and just generally quite well-liked for his games, character, and campaigning. On top of that, he's only lost to high caliber picks (and Morshu in his prime). While he could lose prior to E8, I feel he'll make it back sometime the next two years.

I do think that Garland and JC's way of alliancefagging was much better than the Team Schizo way of alliancefagging, it feels more natural since the character becomes friends with a random character in their bracket instead of how Schizos did it where they grouped up a lot of characters
does that mean that alliancefagging is good? I don't know, at least Garland had the campaign of gathering warriors to fight Chaos and I admit that I copied the equipment thing from Garland while campaigning for JC because I thought it was cool and fun, I didn't think alliances would get a bad rap in the future

I think people's main gripe with alliances are it's tiring the way it's been done in King /v/ specifically. Every tournament has friendly matches where the fanbases/drawfags overlap a lot and have a friendlier than usual match that usually just ends up drawing both of the characters having fun together. Brisby vs Fang, Dale vs Xavier, Wario vs Eggman, Midna vs Amaterasu. Those in moderation are fine, they can even be a highlight.
The issue is we've had 3 winners in a row rely on the Schizo alliance (most of which aren't even schizos), and 2 of those winners defeated Dr Eggman with the power of anime friendship. That's REALLY repetitive, especially considering every other tournament has pretty varied winners.
Again, It's not bad in and of itself, but people were already complaining about not enough variety in king /v/ specifically at the BEGINNING of the tournament, and then we end up getting yet another alliancefag winner. Seeing it happen a fourth time in a row is just going to be an outright circlejerk, I wouldn't be surprised if assuming this shit is still even happening in 2025 it would absolutely destroy king /v/ participation for yet another schizo alliance power of friendship winner, I'm talking worse than Ms /co/ with how much it would feel like "general thread rot". I'd probably fuck off too, I want a regular vidya character to win again.

We need less friendship. I think people are genuinely afraid of being spited if they make their characters act like dicks or demolish their opponent in matches, so being friendly is the easier alternative and gets you more votes in the future. It's unironically a potent meta tactic even if it's not intended to be so. AM better put his opponents into torture traps like he's been doing and not a single time should he befriend ANYBODY.

I agree, the return felt kind of forced and I think some characters got ruined by getting lumped into Team Schizo since now the alliance is tarnished, and I also feel like it diminishes their wins since they're relying on the rest of the team instead of standing on their own, and some of the characters here can absolutely stand on their own

I had a campaign idea if Kefka qualified again where he'd team up with some random character on the bracket and then betray them once he got what he wanted, but I'd only be doing that since it's canon for Kefka to gain power and what he wants by deceiving people.

I know it's something connected to the large picture and whatever is happening since Queen of /v/... Other anons look at me like I'm crazy, but it is my responsibility to safeguard my pick and its campaigners. Screw NSA, screw OFA and screw whatever poisonous influence has desecrated these tourneys. My personal cope for the JC one is that when the Jack Off became canon people stopped giving a shit for the tournament because Garland had pretty much already won the whole thing, and since overall engagement lessened people just picked JC for being the easier choice

Maybe I'm misremembering but I swear OC quantity just decreased as a whole by that point

OC is going to take a hit whenever one of the finalists barely has any substance behind their run. Garland did have a lot of vocal support over art and roleplaying specifically, but Jack Frost became infamous for being generally lacking. Hell, I almost wonder if the Demi-fiend match against Eggman this year got around as much art despite not even being the final match.

To be fair, the alliance stuff that came up here in 2023 is the same as fighting the Soul of Cinder in Dark Souls 3 -- its just homage. Notice how other alliance characters also stood on their own? Personally I think the alliance complaint is kind of overblown and came from people looking for any association to seethe at.

OFA/NSA was smearing/falseflagging AM - and /v/ takes b8 straight. There's also the possibility he directly tampered with the results and lied, as he never showed the graph docs of the semifinal matches.

First of all, congratulations to King Grimm, and the anons who supported him all the way to the win!

Now, as for what happened. As you know, I caught Covid shortly before the start of the tournament and was making do, or so I thought. The morning of the finale, however, I had to be briefly hospitalized. Don't worry, the VA actually does its job over in this part of the world, and I'm alright now. I did, however, have to take from then until now not doing any recordings of any kind. I didn't want to spoil the celebrations for Grimm with all of that, and I knew I'd get better in time, so I opted to hold off on saying anything until things were fully back to normal, which they now are.

As such, please enjoy the finale episode, a month in the making. I have something special planned soon, but I'll be announcing that later on (and in the Mr./Ms. /co/lympus waiting room thread since it happens before King/Queen. No offense intended.) I'm going to reopen my emails for the Psyanon account and answer any correspondence that came by. I didn't trust myself not to say something while I was out of it at the time.

>It was just another day in the threads of /tnt/, same old anons with the same old discussions
>it was calm before the storm, no one was aware of what was to come.
>Then, some anons came forth with a theory.
>Schizo ramblings, cried the anons. Coincidences upon coincidences, theories that would make any tournament enoyer's blood boil. It would be impossible to make connections.
>And yet the schizos came prepared this time. They knew it would be like pissing in the wind. Evidence was needed, and it came directly from the sacred archives.
>Black Hat, Amaterasu, trips, AM, homosexuality, Wesker and the host... connections were built one upon the other

>Being one of the top dogs of the mafia world, Charles always had some inside man, all important communications would reach his ear.
>What he heard made him unnerved. This could not be allowed to spread. Flow of information needed to be severed lest it reach the wrong eyes and ears...
>It was not meant to be. Shortly even more disturbing news reached Charles, sending a chill down his spine.
>Encrypted message traced back to AM, sent to a mad scientist about a deal and spilling the beans on NSA and his faggotry
>The supercomputer was livid, rage and insanity not seen in these tournaments. If he is caught it will be his end. Treatment would be a billion times worse than that of Grimm's rape dungeon he suffered.
>Charles had to deal with NSA before AM got a hold of him. But he could not do it alone. He called upon some old friends.
>He first reached t his old friend Roland, a simple grade 9 fixer of the City. He instantly knew the danger NSA's ass was in, and promised his support.
>Next was a detective that distinguished himself in the last tournament, tracking down Scout's decent into madness to its core. He would be compensated greatly for his work.
>On his way to the rallying point Charles saw a man dumpster diving, collecting bottles. This man was none other that legendary Lieutenant double-yefreitor Harry Du Bois. Presumably he was trying to fund his crippling alcoholism.
>Close to him was a tall crow looking creature wearing RCM patrol cloak. Name plate showed scribbled out name of the Lieutenant, below it written a word, Quiet.
>This was The Long Quiet, seemingly tagging along with Harry for no decent reason
>Harry is a veteran investigator, with his great many solved cases he could be instrumental to seeking out NSA
>With some convincing and a bribe of 1 wine bottle and a beer Harry agreed to join the search, his partner also tagging along

>They reached the meeting place, soon after departing to hopefully find NSA before the super computer and his mad scientist do.
>It was then that a phone call came from one of his contacts, notifying him that the duo has recruited a disgraced former police officer
>He knew it could only be one man. Highly skilled with ranged weaponry and top notch reflexes. He would be the duo's enforcer. It is not know why he joined them.

>And so onward they set out. Their objective to deal with NSA before forces of madness get to him.

I was originally just going to draw my team for Coop, but then I read the shitstorm in the /co/ threads and came up with this idea. I love nonsense crossovers.

Yeah, it felt pretty exaggerated even way back in 2013, but when the FNAF stuff started and turned into most of the shit they made I just kind of stopped even paying attention.
I don't have anything against FNAF nowadays but it was never my cup of tea. They never really stopped having that demographic as their focus either.

Reminder that none of the Elite Eight newcomers this year had ever made it to Round 4 in the past. Grimm and John Ward both infamously capped off at Round 2, Demi-fiend’s best was losing to AM in Round 3, and Rayman outright never qualified previously.

This is not to diss on any of them, far from it. There’s a reason they kept besting prior elites last year. Just makes me think about all the previous Top 16 guys who are still waiting in the wings. Come next year, I feel that it would be nice to see someone like Isaac Clarke, Mario, Captain Falcon make it for the first time.

It really is my favorite part of this. Some of the crossovers have been really fun, like the Livesey autism, Dale Gribble and Xavier, the huge glut of Batter and Grimm stuff, Amaterasu and Bayonetta, (Primal) Fang and Ms Brisby. I can't really think of any other situation art and memes would be made of these characters together besides if someone just wants to say "LMAO, RANDOM!". The Context is key.

I feel exactly the same. I think for some characters like him, Rayman, Lord Farquaad, just getting into the win screen IS their version of winning. I don't hate him and can't really be upset if he did win, I just don't see outright winner out of him.
We have far worse additions every year anyway. The Hatred guy? Alex Eagleston? Banjo? Who the fuck nominates these and says "Ah, yes. Truly, winner of the board material here."

I actually like AM, but 2024 is going to be so insanely slanted for him in the meta factors that if he's not out by round 3 it's just going to be another Jack Garland tier sweep. He's a good character, it's just not going to make for a fun competition especially when we gotta wait for a whole year for these things. I wouldn't even see the point of trying besides that unless some other character got an ABSURD campaign, as in Hexanon's output is only a FACTOR to them, not the driving force.

I think when someone nominates and votes in Not Important or Alex Eagleston they're not thinking "yes this man is the most deserving to take the title of king of /v/" but rather "i want to support this character, maybe i can do a funny campaign, and if things go well he'll get a lot of recognition by making it in the elite eight". Similar to what you said about Rayman/Farquaad getting E8 being a big win for them.
Banjo on the other hand people vote in literally just to make him lose round 1, PMfags do the same shit with Angela too

Not important is weird because people do literally nothing with him. He gets in, does absolutely nothing, and just.... leaves
I can see why the GTA characters get in or Link and Ganondorf get in, they have general iconicity factor even if they don't do anything. I can imagine people just see them in the enormous nomination list, say "I know that guy" and get voted in off of that. He's just so bizarre because hatred really isn't some beloved or widely discussed title. It had a touch of memeing because it got the scary AO rating, and then fell into obscurity when the actual game was just dull. I'm just perplexed by what gets him in. Remember, this is the tournament too tight for Olimar and Louie to get in on the year Pikmin 4 released and was on the /v/ catalog for over a month.

Wario's case is kindof funny. There's a lot of fan and artfag overlap between the two characters, hasn't Eggman only just barely beaten Wario both times? If I had to guess, Sega is less Stigmatized than Nintendo and Eggman has Youtube Poop power behind him to just barely eke him out over Wario. It'll be interesting that 2024 could potentially split them up for good, if Wario gets Elite 8 or can somehow even win

2019 had him against Armstrong. Not much else to add there.

2021 was a somewhat surprising loss to Morshu, but it largely was a by-product of the huge alliances that year. It was his closest match as well until the double loss streak of Batter and Kiryu.

Losing to Jack Frost was absurd and considering the close margin almost certainly because of the Jack-Off meme. Most have said in hindsight that Phoenix should have won.

And don't forget the gaslighting that Phoenix went "silent" during the Jack Frost round. Yes, one of his big campaigners was out but pthers were still making plenty of courtroom stuff. It just happened that a lot of people fucked off after the especially bad round 3, artfags losing en-masse tends to have a domino effect where people start to ignore the few artfags that are left since they tend to respond to art the most. People THOUGHT there wasn't any OC because people completely ignored the OC. Same shit happened to Kiryu this year where the guy making pencil drawings for some reason never anchored them, and so he made like ten drawings that nobody knew existed. We got pretty fortunate this King and Queen that both sets of finalists (not counting cope bracket shit) were the ones that had the most OC made for them

>Tom is one of the most significant cartoon characters ever. Daffy had a serious argument, but it was a more than respectable loss.

>Zorak had a lot of overlap with Carl, but he had a few key advantages. Mr. /co/ was due for a sheer underdog, and he had legach to boot: breakout icon from the show kickstarting CN/AS, had his original incarnation giving more weight, and voiced by a man taken from us way too soon.
>Skeletor culminated past years by finally giving a returning elite victory. He’s THE classic cheesy villain, a staple in funposting, and simply a breakout from his home series. Zim and his series were huge in online geek culture in the 2000s, but Skeletor just felt right winning first.

It was both good and bad. Led to some fantastic campaigns and general moments both in it and later on, but it also showed how polarizing some picks could get. That said, the only winner I feel has serious regret over the alternate is Recette. There’s some questions over Batter NOW, but that’s because few were expecting the trajectory the following two years.

I have a lot of mixed feelings on this. He DID campaign during that one Tag-Team, but he blew out Numnuts in spectacular fashion once that came out. Similarly, he did change his name for the main tournaments, but it’s not like it was much deeper than that. He also gave critical insight on the NSA case when NSA himself was giving shit answers. Not like he’s been that vocal anyways since changing names.

A character like Garland is a rare event to see drop, so I wouldn’t say he was a direct effect so much as timing. Actually would be fun to analyze how that year would have gone without him doing so well, but that’s another matter.

Yeah I’m not going to just shit on him. I will say this however; Dominos sounds naive as hell in respect to
his relationship with NSA, which makes me wonder of how much involvement he had with these past tournaments (monitorizing the forms and sheets, keeping with NSA's schedule, rule decissions). He seemed absolutely clueless in those leaked messages, and that only drives me to believe he had almost no involvement apart from making threads.

Garland is somewhat saved by existing in FF1. That’s not enough in of itself, but “the first major Final Fantasy antagonist won after a fun new portrayal” is at least a reasonable conversation starter. It doesn't surprise me in retrospect it's getting some complaints. It was kind of the point of no return as far as tourneys going from character board/medium contests to sort of a meta general evaluating characters on the tourneys themselves. Somewhat unrelated, but coming from someone who allegedly claimed to care about OC and thread activity so much, NSA/OFA had an incredibly faulty judgement. If I'm remembering right, when someone asked him if he was willing to make a victory screen for Curly at the end of Queen he said something along the lines of "Curly didn't even have a campaign". And we have already heard about his whole personal baggage with AM partly for "having no OC".
He probably just favored a type of posting and/or fanart over the other.

As for the magmas, those definitely weren't an attempt to incentivize thread activity since they literally did the opposite; a lot of the OC made in the magmas was never posted in the threads. I think magmas should be made for Afterparty threads only, and leave the rest of the tournament OC to actually be posted in the tournament.

He has a LOT of icon status as just a general character
There's edits of the comics that are regularly posted, especially "It's right there you double nigger" and "Finally, my own clone. Now neither of us will be virgins"
There's the absurd amount of YTP involving him, including the legendary "PINGAS" soundbit
there's that re-dub of Sonic adventure 2 that got a lot of traction, especially his lines "I miss my wife Tails" and "You FOOL. I HAVE SEVENTY ALTERNATIVE ACCOUNTS"
His voice actor Mike Pollock actually managed to handle Chris Chan's autism in a dignified manner
Jim Carrey did a phenomenal job as him in the live-action Sonic movies, he Carrey'd those films hard
Apparently the Sonic Boom cartoon was really good, and he was in it

Yeah, I haven't been into Sonic properly since the Adventure days but even in the bad games Eggman has a lot of charm. Him being one of the few "human" looking characters also absolves him from a lot of the autism that usually comes with Sonic (furries and 2000s donutsteels) that people generally didn't care much about back then. Because Eggman then wasn't "cool" like Shadow, he was just the bad guy.
So if he gets the chance, I usually vote him, though I have no real care for Sonic's general franchise in this day and age (aside from some of the soundtracks, they're still pretty good, and I love the old Genesis games back from when I replayed them).

King /v/ is more chaotic and fun in its own right for sure, but Mr. /co/ is just really chill. There's still a good amount of autism and not really much metafagging at all. This, I think a lot of complaining about the King winners comes more from trying to look at things in hindsight with a tournament meta autism lens than how enjoyable the character actually was that year and how he stands up as a winner. Grimm's campaign was kino and a lot of fun and the character himself is very unique and fleshed out and has a good game, no I don't care that he happens to share arbitrary traits like being from an RPG game/jap game or that he had supporter overlap with Batter in 2021 (complaining about "another schizo" winning is somewhat ironic, seeing as Batter isn't even a schizo and has almost nothing in common with Grimm character wise). You're free to prefer whatever but personally if the winner is a character I like and/or had supporters that were fun in the threads that's enough for me to remember him or her fondly, I'd rather do that than cross reference each winner with every other winner to create something to see if they're "satisfying to tourney meta"

Grimm is 100% a schizo, like actually genuinely schizophrenic, and probably the most deserving of the label on that list
Batter isn't a schizo himself he's more of an "ally" in tourney lore I guess, Jack Garland isn't one either but as I recall he was only listed in the Team Schizo images before his game came out, and then when 2022 came around people realized the term no longer fit hence he hasn't been associated with the alliance since

I thought he kills weird shit, not is weird himself? Yeah it's going to be REALLY hard to explain how it's Batter, Jack Garland, or Grimm won over someone like Eggman, JC Denton, or Demi-fiend if you aren't allowed to reference this tourney autism
In retrospect that might've been why Midna and Curly were so beloved, sure they had the tourney autism behind them but are also just generally well-loved video game characters you can look at and say "Yeah, makes sense why the won". they made both camps happy. King has only made one camp happy, the "tournament story arc epic guy" crowd. NOT the "I want a cool, popular vidya charcater to win the vidya popularity contest"
it's probably why there's so much fearposting towards AM, he fits WAY too well with the current trend of "King tourney meta autism character" and very little into the desire of "I want a vidya character everybody knows and loves to win". that fear only gets worse when there's not really a single character that can be poured into to oppose this meta autism shit. Look at the Lioser's bracket 4-way. Battler was being an attention-hogging asshole that ruined the finale, and won by a fucking mile. Why? Because who else were you going to pick? Wario had some support, sure, but Warioanon was too busy with Eggman. Jacket and Peppino voters weren't really going to be swayed, Wario only had about a 50 vote lead over them. Battler had over 100 votes ahead of Wario. Battler was the "I want to see the world burn" option and the "I like this normal vidya guy" people were split three ways. THAT'S the fear of AM, Schizo alliance tourney autists say "Ooh, angry block! I'll vote for him" while everybody else that wants a normal vidya character to win are too divided. There's too many normal vidya characters but only one epic tournament journey autist character, and that's AM. I'm TELLING you, without a seriously coordinated effort the computer is going to OBLITERATE the tournament. Mark my words.

Even assuming Grimm is good outside the tourney contexts (and I would too, he only sucks THIS particular year when we've had three tourney autism characters + the double cucking of Eggman) we still have Jack Garland and Batter, who are just "What the fuck" picks
Ms. /co/ only has Spinel and ARGUABLY Ms Monarch as the "What the fucks". Jenny is obvious, Betty Boop is Obvious, Wuya is niche but understandable, Fang is also niche (Primal is horribly underrated in general entertainment circles, silent shows are just difficult to discuss) but understandable.
Mr /co/ is just the best average by far, every single pick is soundly good and Zorak is merely niche at worst. Could be the sheer variety of good picks Mr /co/ has, all of comic books and cartoons is incredibly generous variety
Queen is also very good, Samus is the most no-brainer winner of any tournament ever, Reimu is niche but understandable, Recette is the single "What the fuck", and Midna and Curly are both obvious
Grimm at best is still VERY, VERY niche. Niche is not BAD, but it can perceived that way in a POPULARITY contest, which by design needs to appeal to a crowd. Armstrong and Dante are the only obvious ones we've had so far.

No kidding, who the HELL were the people that came out of nowhere in the finals and said "We need to do literally the exact same thing that happened in 2021", Grimm's campaign was very natural up every round before that
Weird repeat year thinking about it. Wario barely lost to Eggman again in a friendly match and proceeded to be his closest ally, Batter vs 47 took up way too much undeserved attention, Kiryu just didn't do a whole lot and got a lot of memes for it, and Snoot Fang jobbed in absolutely spectacular fashion that became a meme in and of itself
Starting to think the Elite 8 blacklist had the unintended consequence of just making every-other year repeats instead of the dynamics of every year evolving, because with a two-year timeout people are REALLY going to push the safe same powerhouses over and over again out of fear they'll get into the timeout again (because that's exactly what happens)

Grimm vs Eggman was a great matchup, probably the best combination we could get. Both had great campaigns and great OC. Both are great characters, and from what hear Eggman is one of the few good things in Sonic. John vs Demifiend would have also been good, Grimm vs Demifiendwould be pretty eh. John vs Eggman would be a question mark but we may actually see it in 2025.
And all of these finals are or would be better then Jack vs Frost. Garland, ok I can see why he made it into E8. But Frost was just
>Hehe wouldn't it be funny if we got a Jack-off lmao
In the end having a climactic showdown like between greats this year would be a thousand times better than some Jack vs Jack wet fart where the winner couldn't be more obvious.

I don't believe AM is THAT strong. Revising Spiderman's claims more closely, the only points he brings up that are decidedly in his favor are 1 and 5, however AM isn't the only campaign heavy contestant with an underdog edge, far from it. As another anon already pointed out, 2 is more of a detriment right now, while 3 and 4 are essentially the same thing. Although that does grant him a potent "FUCK THE HOST" energy in over any other character (except maybe Amaterasu) it's hard to gauge how much that is going to influence the choice of most voters since we haven't dealt with a situation like this before and the larger part of /v/ hasn't reacted to these revelations yet. The only way this could give him a serious pity boost is if it turned out NSA actually did rig him out or delete some of his votes in order to make his losing margins bigger.

I just find the fearmongering over an inevitable AM sweep to be a very dishonest tactic from people who don't want him as the next champion (>>86277, >>86280) - which is fair to a certain extent, as no one is obligated to have the same taste and preferences in characters. But gaslighting, engaging in manipulative tactics and encouraging spitevoting is one step too far I think.

For the record I do agree with the notion that AM could turn up to be a powerhouse for the upcoming King of /v/ and even win, but he is far from being the safe bet. Hint: The characters with the biggest advantages usually don't get brought up during these tangents at all. AM by comparison is very contentious and polarizing.

I think you're making the mistake of assuming that since this is a popularity contest it must follow the rules of mainstream popularity instead of the reality that since it is a 4chan popularity contest, it follows the rule of whatever is popular on 4chan
For example, Fang might be niche to a general audience but Primal is (and especially was when it was still airing) one of the most popular recent shows on /co/, how underrated it is in general entertainment circles is irrelevant because /co/ does not share the same taste. Mrs. Monarch is definitely not a "what the fuck", Venture Bros is one of /co/'s favorite and most discussed AS shows.
>Yeah it's going to be REALLY hard to explain how it's Batter, Jack Garland, or Grimm won over someone like Eggman, JC Denton, or Demi-fiend if you aren't allowed to reference this tourney autism
I'm pretty sure if a random /v/tard who knows nothing about the tournaments saw the results of 2022 at least he'd think, "Jack Garland won? Wow big surprise can't believe the guy who's been getting shilled and memed nonstop this year won the /v/ popularity contest".
For Grimm again also you're making the mistake of assuming 4chan tournaments follow what is popular mainstream, Black Souls is popular on /v/ (and might as well be the mascot game of /vrpg/) and gets bump limit threads regularly, hell there's even one up right now, and combined with /v/'s contrarianism would the average /v/tard really be that surprised if you told him that /v/ voted Grimm over Eggman?
I'm sure it'd be really hard to explain to some random faggot on reddit or twitter who these characters are or why they won a character tournament instead of some immensely famous character like Mario or Sonic or Batman, but again remember these aren't contests for what's popular with faggots on reddit and twitter they're contests for what's popular with autistic manchildren on /co/ and virgin neckbeards on /v/.

As someone who's completely not into /co/, doesn't go there and in general is not interested in cartoons/comics (except maybe Xavier and Watchman) the first time I even heard of Primal was after it already won, through Q/Ko/v/ threads.
