/co/ - Comics & Cartoons

I'm going to (try to) post a classic theatrical cartoon each day. Feel free to watch along, or just check in from time to time to catch up on several at once. In honor of January 1st, I'll first focus on newcomers to the Public Domain. Today's picture is the first cartoon to come out of the Terrytoons studio, Caviar (1930). If you enjoy rats acting Russian and getting into various winter hi-jinks, this might be the cartoon for you. Caviar (1930) Lost cartoon!

ITT: We post /co/-related cover art.

There's been some sort of news in the webcomic world so might as well have another thread. Previous >>437396 Anyone reading anything good/news recently?

Wholesome, cute, fun thread. Our community is small, but the love is very real.

Post Crossovers

Making a thread about the new Disney show Stugo. If you don't know what the show is here's a quick bit about it. >Six gifted middle schoolers are invited to a mysterious remote island in the Caribbean for what they believe is an academic summer camp. However, they soon discover that the camp is a ruse orchestrated by Dr. Lullah, a mad scientist who resides on the island. Unable to leave for three months, the kids must navigate the island's fantastical and dangerous flora and fauna, much of which has been created by Dr. Lullah. Anyway Merian is best girl

Have you watched this cute comfy show or readed the comics, anon?

Let's have a South Park thread >Favorite Characters >Favorite Episodes >Least Favorite Characters >Least Favorite Episodes >Etc.

>Cartoon Animals - 2023/#1:>>450362 This has been a slow year for us furries, didn't have to start a topic all year. But then again, much of the new reveals happen at the obscure anthro character discord nowadays. Just posting her about a godsend I received recently - I have been trying literally for years to get Mutant Rampage: Bodyslam to work on a Philips CDI emulator (yes, that infamous system - and yes, that same company who made the creepy Zelda animations made this game). Well, that still didn't succeed, but the next best thing did, a guy I found on spriterresources managed to extract the sprites from the game! So now I can finally check out the naked Centaur and Cheetah ladies, topless Rakshasi, and sexy swimsuit Gazelles and karate-robed Lionesses up close, not to mention the boss of Animorpha Roma, Tina Felina!

>Check the catalog >Zero Foster's threads Let me fix that for you. Discuss.

I miss /a/vatar. There was still good content being produced long after the shows have ended. Plus with a resurgence happening thanks to the newly created Avatar Studios and the upcoming Netflix adaption. It would've prospered.

How about that upcoming Mario Bros movie huh? All this new info to be seen. Charlie Day as Luigi

Do you want to be a hero, /co/? Want to be a superhero with other superheroes? Well then come and join in the /co/vengers in Neon City. A while back, a random rollthread busted out into a full-on project, where people roll up a random superpower, design a superhero around it, pick a team, and have fun goofing around. Had weeks and weeks of funtimes roleplaying, and we were hoping to bring those funtimes here! The setting is Neon City, a shining metropolis on the gulf of Mexico. Founded, built, and maintained by the Xenon Conglomerate, Neon City soon grew into a massive tourist trap known for its unusually high concentration of metahumans and superheroes, a reputation that was championed by Xenon in its effort to create the world's largest meta-centered city. Factions include such oddities as massive corporations, rag-tag misfits operating out of a busted down RV, augmentation-obsessed gangsters, spooky vampires living in spooky castles, and even that one goddamn asshole who has a keyhole instead of a head. Seriously, he's a dumbass. But either way, roll up a power, make a character, fill out a template, and go fucking nuts.

This show seems surprisingly underdiscussed on here or 4/co/.

SIMPSONS THREAD So. It's over. Now that you have watched every episode ever aired, which one is your favorite?

An animator on the new season has shared 2 minutes worth of clips My Roughs 02 - Phineas and Ferb SE05

It's SDCC, which means the old place is posting shitty comics. This thread is to let you know what's being posted so you don't miss the classics, and maybe a little discussion of SoP overall

ITT: we discuss the opening sequneces/intros to cartoon. The good, the bad and the ugly. Give ratings and analysis. Disagree with idiots. Post webms. Whatever. Warning: opinions will appear in this thread Opening the thread with a strong one: >not just a lazy compilation of scenes from episodes >high replay value >great background tune >not obnoxiously long >succinctly yet sufficiently introduces core characters and themes (assuming you are already familiar with the Grim Reaper) >actually has VFX I rate it highly.

Yah know what this board needs? Without context thead! A good old fuck it, lets post funny stuff one. >finding a good one that was not jpg was harder then it should have been...

Thread about this obscure Korean Animated Series where cute and funny mermaids goes to the land and the school and have magical girl powers where they fight monsters, recover the pieces of a macguffin and learn everyday lessons. Recently, I learned about this 4chan backup site that serves as a temporary backup in case of emergency, and I learned that most people are hanging around there while the site recovers (or at least I hope so), so i made this thread of this series here for the ocassion. It looks like there is NSFW board about /co/ too called Promotiond, so fanart of that kind can go there if you want (a separate thread needs to be created for that and link these images here too as well)

Its time we had a Mango thread on plus4chan. If for no other reason so that other people can experience a classic moment of content creation in the future. Double Dragon Neon OST City Streets 2 - Mango Tango Neon Jungle [+LYRICS]

4chan might have died, but our love for bugs doesn't.

Would /co/ like to have one?

A thread for discussing everything relating to traditional animation: shows, traditional animation techniques, creative figures who worked in the industry or at its margins (or who worked outside it altogether!), etc. I'll start... What was the last cartoon to use only cel animation, before computer-based animation became the industry norm?

Feel free to post art here as well as your hopes and fears for the indie show of Hazbin Hotel while we wait for A24 to produce more of it.

Just mad, i wanted to make the thread to see any curiosity out here...

Eh, might as well give it a try here. I got nothing better to do.

4/co/ refugee thread. Let's keep discussion going and work out what to do from here.

Just thinking to make one incase it goes haywire again this year. Though if it doesn't, feel free to discuss anyway! It's been going pretty well this year I feel like, even with the vitrol for best girl.

Nickelodeon General: In The Loud House Edition Would a general Nickelodeon thread be fine? Mostly digging The Loud House, but with people liking shows like Harvey Beaks and Miraculous Ladybug, The Jungle Movie for Hey Arnold finally being made, and those Nick Animation Podcasts episodes, I thought it'd be appropriate.

I think it's hard to find download links here, so from now on, post your links to any hard to find or obscure stuff here. ;) Let me start with one right off the bat - Saban's Adventures of Oliver Twist. I managed to purchase a 6-DVD-set of it - and luckily it had czech AND english audio tracks. Oddly enough DVD1 starts with Episode 9, so we'll see what's in there. >I'M SO WET. YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE HOW WET I AM!!!

So I've been looking around the internet for some old obscure forgotten cartoons and I manged to find some episodes of Patrol 03 a forgotten gem of a show form the late 90's about cops stopping their evil police chief form killing the mayor so far I've only found the french and Spanish version of the show but not the English dub which is sad because I remember watching the English dub as a kid in late 90's early 2000's. So if anyone knows where I can find any episodes of the English dub that'd be great. Or if you have any other obscure shows you wanna share go right ahead.

Hello friends. I have been directed here by someone on 4/co/. I'm looking to find scans of the Italian version of Skorpio magazine to help out the guy translating Cybersix. I THINK he has scans up to the end of Anno 16 so scans from 17 (ie: 1993) and on would be very very helpful for the project. If anyone can point me to where, that would be great. I've been using Anna's Archive to get some stuff but there's only some stuff there, and I suspect there's other places less accessible that will have more. Many thanks.

Marvel Thread #2 NOW ENTERING ULTRON COUNTRY edition //youtube.com/watch?v=tmeOjFno6Do

This is a thing I had on a "watch later" list for years, after discovering it on the Internet, which I finally got one day (and it was amazing). Apparently a really good composer wrote the score, as well as really quality songs. That was good enough to remember. So I watched it, and I liked it. Yes it's dated, but in a way I like. It came from a mind of a visual genius and a lover or classical music, and a man very much stuck in the 60s/70s, Mike Jupp. He put together a team and somehow managed to get funding tow make 2 seasons, and lucky enough to get commissioned for 2 more. Oh, and it's a show from Britain. The premise is that on a planet (just a planet) one half is the Land of Dreams (see: utopia) with little to no conflict and the residents getting pleasant dreams at night from a wizard, and the other side being the Land of Nightmares (clever name) with a population being more-or-less parody of working class british men ruled over by lord of all nightmares. Pretty much every episode the lord of nightmares sends his very british minions to the other side of the planet to steal the Dreamstone, a dream transmitter or close to it, to send everyone constant nightmares. The underlings frequently succeed, but thwarted at the end by various means. If you look at the show from a perspective of an average 21st century young adult viewer, it may seem bland or too weird to like. But if you use your imagination a little, and see it as a children's cartoon made by a psychedelic rock band from the 60s, you'll get it. A couple of links: //youtube.com/watch?v=EmjtSBIY8sg <promo from the 80s //youtube.com/watch?v=Ec9-PuYm8L4 <the first episode Since it is now an obscure show, not all episodes are yet online. Just the absolute worst shittiest cartoons you can find. I’m calling it, most of this shit will be from Canada

Excelsior Prime is the new teenage robot in Tremorton and Jenny has a crush on him, turns out he really likes her and came from another world where he was her fan because he related to her struggles and thought she is like the pinnacle of cute Yes, this is unbashedly a self-insert, but not just for me, he is supposed to represent every fan of Jenny who wants to be with her and sees their ideal self in her, getting to be the super robot boy for a super robot girl Anyways Excel is very protective of Jenny, he dreads being a cuck and he is willing to reject any morality or rules if it means Jenny will be his, he is somewhat of a luciferian stirnerite who doesn't really appreciate the fact God made him a fat autistic NEET in a world where his beloved one is a fictional character before his transformation, woops! Guess he isn't really a robot after all, or a teenager for that matter (well at least physically, mentally he is a child) He is actually a manifestation of consciousness inhabiting nanomachines that are made of quantum singularities, meaning he is a bunch of black holes which fits his self-absorbed character quite well, this also means he is compressed of infinite potential I was thinking about making him question Jenny's place as a hero and to rebel against her programming to become a free individual, but also at the same time for Jenny to show him to not be a misanthropic selfish asshole and have some trust in others I have thought about taking this towards an autistic crossover with various /co/ characters and it ending with him fighting a bunch of artists who are more talented then him and are decent human beings who are actually a functional part of society (Cringe btw)

As the title says. This is a general Disney thread. Where we will talk about: (mini)series, movies, comics, etc... Past, Present and Future. Accepted: Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars. And crossovers (including non). But less content. Don't forget to post fanart.

In these trying times let us remember better things. I started rewatch of this recently and have been enjoying it immensely. Coincidentally I'm doing a first time read through of Amazing Spider-Man from issue #1 and I was surprised at how well some of the episodes adapt the comics, particularly with the Scorpion.

Post your favorite infamous John Kricfalusi Blogspot Moments: When I was a kid, Sunday was a thrilling day. I got to look at a huge glorious full color pile of newspaper comics in every imaginable style. Great classics like Li'l Abner, Dick Tracy, Brenda Starr, Pogo, Dennis The Menace and more... Even the newer comics were drawn beautifully-The Flintstones and Yogi Bear by Gene Hazelton and Ed Benedict, Beetle Bailey by Mort Walker, Big George by Virgil Partch... I used to make collections of all my favorite strips.I copied my favorite drawings and read the jokes and stories over and over again.Whoever picked all these great strips sure was kind to the readers. I feel sorry for kids today. George will explain why... There used to be semi-plausible excuses for why modern animation was so crappy (1970-1990): It costs too much so you have to have tons of executives who want you to aim at the lowest common denominator. You have to send all the animation overseas. It has to be done too fast. These aren’t very good excuses but they are something at least. However I can’t figure out any excuse at all for why the newspaper funny pages have gone to hell. Each artist can do a whole strip himself-only 4 panels a day. They get paid a mountain of money. It can all be done in the country. You don’t need hundreds of artists, so you can pick the best ones. There are people alive today who can draw really good cartoons, but they aren’t in the newspapers for some unexplainable reason

We need some good old fashioned fun, and what is more fun than the Main Man, Lobo? I'll post here some of his achievements, whenever I'm reading his comics.

Gravity Falls Season Two Thread Well, that was awesome! ...And Surprisingly violent! Kudos to them in the first two episodes actively tying off some dangling threads from the previous season (not necessarily plot things, but stuff dealing with chacter interactions).

This show was pretty alright, even if the third season was rushed and Scarlemagne was forgiven too easily. I wish more people talked about it.

Since there hasn't been a whole lot to watch this Summer, I gave Duncanville a try. And I love it. I never fell for the "every show on FOX is just a Family Guy clone" stereotype, but after a while I stopped tuning in on Sundays/Mondays. Now it's a weekly tradition. TWILIGHT FOR POPE

You ever find it weird how we don't really have proper "Shojo" series? Like the last real one I'd classify as fitting the niche properly is like Star Vs and that came out like nearly a decade ago at this point. It's extra bizarre cause companies like Disney have clearly been trying to corner the girl market with their push for more female MCs, but none of them really feel like they're actually trying to appeal to your average teen girl. Amphibia is more Shonen with female main characters than Shojo and Owl House doesn't even try to get the average girl interested. Even series like Fionna and Cake are more "Josei" in it's attempt to capture the "middle age woman" experience. Like why is there such an inability to make series that would actually appeal to teen girl. Is it really that hard?

Is this show cancelled? Is Netflix gonna actually develop it? No one knows. It looks very sweet, though. Which is why I hope they develop it. Here, leaked art and production notes: https://mega.nz/folder/SyISAZZJ#-mqEUPeX3406YFOFpKMAmA

>Tom King on the difference of writing Clark and Kara and how Steve Orlando helped him. >He admits he felt "kind of stuck" when he was working on Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow, because he wasn't sure what made her cool. He called Steve Orlando and Orlando gave King the elements that make Supergirl a badass: that she saw her whole planet explode as a teenage. "Trauma, that's my genre!" says Tom King, "It's what I do!" >"She's a little more cynical, she's a little more world weary,". Steve opened all the doors to what became Woman of Tomorrow. Has anyone else been noticing the younger fans for comics (yes they exist, they got into comics through piracy during the pandemic and tend to be ESLs) are much bigger advocates for adaptation accuracy than older fans these days? They're much more critical toward the DCAU's portrayals even and outright credit it to damaging certain character's reputations

So.....Omniverse is ending and rumor has it that this is gonna be the last series of the Ben 10 franchise gotta say I am disappointed that this is how it's ending seeing as while Ultimate Alien wasn't anything to write home about at least it didn't treat viewers like absolute dumbasses like Ominverse does. Not to mention the fact that all those flashback episodes in Omniverse are just giant shitty retcons of the continuity because you know the retcons in Alien Force and Ultimate Alien worked so well right? Kinda funny looking back at this franchise, because I remember back in 2006 CN used to play the original series every single day and it would bring in big numbers but now? Most the kids that grew up watching Ben 10 have moved on, the fanbase has split and the TV ratlins for Omniverse have been abysmal.

I like to see Jax getting dominated by womens

If TV writers were clever enough to be stand-up comedians we wouldn't have shows like the Simpsons and South Park."

Suppose Nickelodeon had actually ended SpongeBob after the first movie (or Season 4 at the latest), would it become one of those shows where people clamor for years for a reboot or continuation, but then when we actually get it, it turns out to be total dog water and everyone just forgets about the whole thing? Think Clone High or Animaniacs.

We've covered a lot of great artists during the Unofficial Ride of Sonic fancomics (current thread >>442938), but some of their comics don't actually feature Sonic at all, gasp! This thread's all about showcasing those artists branching out and doing their own thing. We'll be starting with my favorite artist Knockabiller, who you might remember from The Vulture (https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/128305743/#q128306553), a comic featuring a delinquent Silver that took home several of The Ride's awards (https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/131193200/#q131194985). This is PSYN/Psynthesis (psychic+synthesis, but pronounced like synthesis), and the first comic is Thief in the Night. https://www.deviantart.com/knockabiller

Hi, guys, this is /ac/ with our 2023 annual christmas card. I hope you like it.

It's been a while since we've done a Sonic-adjacent comic (unless you count Klonoa), so let's do one with art from an Archie and IDW alumni! Written by Jesse B and drawn by Matt Herms, Sticky Floors ran from 2006 to 2009. Towards the end of this comic Herms got his start in mainstream comics with Sonic the Hedgehog 185, which was released in February 2008. Sticky Floors was originally hosted on snafu-comics.com, but since February 2018 has been removed from the site. Not that that's stopped me before! Oh, and I've upscaled these images since they were a little small. Starring Colin (the grumpy blond one) and Wesley (the cute one in the herpes shirt), Sticky Floors is all about their (mis)adventures as they try to get laid!

it talks about some vampires and one thing i remember is a guy having a crush on a human girl and that guy was the crush of his girl best friend. the guy had like a jacket or something, and the girl was redheaded or something.

So Alessandro Barbucci is joining the scenarist from Monster Allergy,Giovanni Di Gregorio to make this new series Dont understand much of it, but it seems to be a fantasy book for young people, about 3 sisters that discover that their mother (no longer with them) had a secret.
