Making a thread about the new Disney show Stugo. If you don't know what the show is here's a quick bit about it. >Six gifted middle schoolers are invited to a mysterious remote island in the Caribbean for what they believe is an academic summer camp. However, they soon discover that the camp is a ruse orchestrated by Dr. Lullah, a mad scientist who resides on the island. Unable to leave for three months, the kids must navigate the island's fantastical and dangerous flora and fauna, much of which has been created by Dr. Lullah.
>>473727 I enjoy the show but I feel that the premise should have been the kids wanting to become evil scientists or just general super scientists like Lullah Also Francis best girl
>>473731 I don't know It seems like she just needed some expendable interns and the kids were just short order She seems like she just wants to indulge in whatever weird project she wants to do for fun
>>473729 Eh, if the kids are actively trying to become evil scientists then it sort of takes away from their innocent and rule following things wouldn't it? Sort of undermines their initially established unifying theme of being dorky nerds I'd think.
>>473812 Awesome, glad to see you Kaze. A relief some of us made our way here. Looking good there so far. A bunny in time for Easter. With some impressive hips to her too.

>>474243 Sounds like you got a packed project line up then. I think I remember seeing a wip on the Loli thread. Seemed like you were a ways into some of them. Good luck. I've got my favorite with Merian and I'm looking forward to any of the other gals you've got in the works too.
I watched a couple episodes of this show and thought it was pretty charming. I like the writing and the VAs do a good job, though I dunno how many seasons of stories they could tell if they're just gonna be on this supervillain island the whole time.
>>473727 You know, it's kind of funny. The thread on /co/ was going so fast and well that I was genuinely considering if we should make a second once it archived since it seemed like we'd finish that one by Monday morning and still have a lot of time till this week's episode. Strange timing.
>>474390 I mean, Phineas And Ferb lasted four seasons and two movies with several specials with the whole thing mainly revolving around the kids doing stuff during summer vacation at their backyard. With two new seasons incoming. I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to do what old pulp books used to do, like Tarzan, and just discover mutants and new weird places on the island more and more as the show goes on. This kind of episodic comedy show can more or less last as long as the writers have jokes and character moments they can cook up.
>>474393 I feel Phineas & Ferb ran as long and as successfully as it did because of how cleverly meta it got about how formulaic the episode plots were, really using it to their advantage. Not withstanding how good the characters were (especially Doofensmirtz.)

>>474400 True. The show quickly understood it's formula and realized how to poke fun of it and play with it in new ways while not compromising it either. It's a writing challenge. I don't know if this show can handle that, but I think so far the setting hasn't ran it's course just yet and they've kept it feeling fresh so far. I'd like to think if this show gets more time they can figure this out too.
>>474402 The deep-voiced black girl is definitely the "meme" heart of the show IMO. Play their cards right and they'll have another all-timer character.
>>474404 Eh, Francis' nonchalant nature and her expression do lend themselves well to a meme stuff. Though for my money it's Merian who feels like the main draw of the show for me. The cast in general I think has proven to be pretty solid even if some are more standout.
>>474507 I like how Pliny has had some of her unique character energy pop up more lately. She's not the kind to give up easy and it shows more and more.
>>473727 Glad to see some of my stubros survived everything, didn't even think to check here at first kek. Merian's definitely up there, but Francis is coming in a very close second, even before the most recent ep.
>>475267 Yeah, this has always been one of those places I"m aware of but not one I visited much. Guess we'll have to wait and see. The tv rip dude swung by so we'll hopefully at least have those depending.
>>475290 A pleasant surprise. Didn't think too many of us would seek out a place once things went down. Glad to see I was wrong. A side, but I love that dude's StuGo art. It's so cute. Hope he's out there too.
>>475302 Yeah I was worried the fandom would kinda shrivel up, especially given there were no new messages in the archives. Regardless, happy we're still kicking! Hopefully the other artfags find their way here, even if I'm sure their priorities are a bit different.
>>475586 Do wonder if westaboos are going to latch onto this show, I know the designs might be a bit much for them...then again that seems to be part of the thrill for some of the artists, so who's to say?
>>475611 I really like that Pliny in the center and her hairline. And yeah, if remains to be seen if any of the usual folks get into it. Like shinda mane. But here's hoping. Would be cool to see how they like some of the characters.
>>475698 Yeah I kinda wish they'd kept those proportions for the show even if that takes away from the goofiness, so much cute pose potential. Definitely seems like a 50/50 shot, and even then might be dependent on the VAs' performances, though I've already seen some westaboo accounts cover the show very briefly so they seem open to it.
>>475700 I like where your head is at. Part of why I mention shinda mane was because I know he's a sizable westabo. With a big love of Stacy from Phineas And Ferb. Had hoped with it coming back and probably airing along side this show over there that maybe he'd notice it too. Would be nice.
>>475769 They found a nice medium between cartoon blocky designs and some anatomical details I think. It's at least easy enough to work a bit of stylization into the mix. Even if some of the goofier details like Merian's head shape or Pliny's hair line will probably be tricky to figure out. It's probably going to heavily rely on the casting too like you say.
>>473727 Were blue crabs a thing yet in the show? I'm going through the poster and I'm noticing a couple of them but I don't particularly remember them doing anything yet.
>>475947 Oh yeah it was an improvement for most of the main cast, just feel like they made her the eenciest bit too squat in the final product, though it seems to vary from scene to scene, might be the boots kek. Oh for sure, all the wonkier details just add character to me, would gladly smooch her perfectly smooth forehead. I'm sure they'll make a good call, curious what language they'll have Merian speaking instead of Portuguese though.
>>475958 Extremely based, was wondering if you'd find us!
>>476047 Seems they were a minor focus in the Noodling episode, really early on and not particularly notable so most people probably kinda forgot about them.
>>476534 Yeah I had a similar epiphany with the kelp critters, had talked about them with an acquaintance a few months back and it feels like it was a year ago kek. Thanks, coincidentally was looking for something else in that ep but then remembered those little buggers were in it too.
>>476610 >kelp critters This one almost makes me sad. Those little goobers were cool. I thought we'd see them again during the TV montage but I guess those little guys don't have their own channel.
>>476901 It's either that or they're just on at a different hour, we're probably just getting glimpses of what they have to offer. It's like if every channel was your local station, lotta variety out there.
>>476992 Yeah it's got some options it seems in what we can post and it seems like it's doing ok. Though damn, I hope they turn off the stupid alarm and zeppelin soon.
>>476911 Huh, yeah that's a good point. They could be a night time channel or early morning. The kids were locked up for a few weeks watching TV but we only really caught a couple of the shows they had access to.

>>477102 Yes. Seems like the site is going to be down for a while. They've apparently been talking about trying to pursue so legal action while also trying to get things back up. Doubtful that will go anywhere but either way it sounds like it'll be a while before things are back up, even in the best case scenario. Better settle in and get used to this place I think.
>>477113 Based work anon, and fuck there were a lot of great moments. Definitely wasn't expecting the amount of curveballs we got, but it makes sense, they've got this shit down to a science.
it brings tear into my eyes see this thread again working like before discussing episode rippping episode guys you guys bring tears to my eyes ahhhh..umm.. take all give nothing pirates life savy ehh.. ha
Larry impresses death, makes friends with him, and gets his friends brought back to life. At least one of them. Maybe Chicho was right when he said Larry was the best one.
This episode screamed Regular Show All the bodily harm and death making an appearance Hell even that safety dog said children dying was actually surprising to hear
Image:174509461814.png(2.07MB, 1920x1080)Mr Okay and his fun slide.png
>>477416 Ah, there it is. Yeah I knew it reminded me of something but I couldn't point to what. The amount of death and casual and not so casual "getting jacked up" was not something I'd usually expect from Disney. Especially with that ending of nonchalantly reviving one of their hermit crab friends, but only one of them, and the other staying dead since Death was to busy pulling off sick tricks to notice.
>>473729 That would make sense if the show were more continuity-driven but I like how episodic it is. We could never get great moments like last week's Francis episode without having to deal with the fallout. >>477113 We're so fucking back.
>"CLONES!? Lulah's gone too far!" I love that the 3rd sara stuck around and we're just running with it now. That's great. Also, >everyone got a cool themed outfit except for pliny
>Soviet blimps and music keep covering up the screen >disabling JS removes them but also removes quick reply I just can't win with this website. I wanna go home.
>>477633 Not really sure what they could've gone with for her aside from maybe a general vintage gumshoe look, something that reinforces she's like a dirty cop. Maybe a fedora/trenchcoat combo?
>>477659 That's not a bad idea. She took the bribe almost instantly and even tried to turn on Chip first chance she got. Though maybe that would have been a bit harder to convey as easily as the other kid's outfits.
>>477701 True. Though it is still kind of sad Pliny got left out from the cool outfits. Merian got the form fitting, even for her gangly self, biker gal outfit. Francis a damn good dress. Even Chip and Larry both got some sharp suits. Still, very fun episode regardless. It's cool seeing them do out there ideas like this.
>>477724 It's a shame they probably don't have much production stuff from around this time, wonder if they had anything in mind for her before just saying "fuck it" and going with her usual duds.
>>477737 I don't see why they wouldn't. Most of this stuff would have gotten written and boarded around the same time, wouldn't it? It's not like this is actually all done in order all the time. Production codes and episode orders sometimes move around too.
>>477755 True, I just know Gillis mentioned not having an opportunity to archive everything from this late in production on his bluesky, so stuff's a bit scant compared to the goldmines we had before.
>>477665 It really feels like a gag from Pickle and Peanut with all the mixed media (not surprising with the cameo from a character a couple weeks back)
