>>480106 are they? STAS and the reeves films have experienced a huge resurgence in popularity in recent times john byrnes man of steel, well, it is not bad by any means but people do have a good reason not to like it namely that it removes a lot of the more fantastical elements from supermans backstory
>>480106 Are they? I have only seen that attitude from Snyderpajeets and they really aren't Superman fans. Byrne's run is a bit controversial but I completely get why since it changed up a lot of classic elements of the character.
>>480164 >I have only seen that attitude from Snyderpajeets and they really aren't Superman fans. the Reeves films were, and to an extent still are, the most beloved version of superman people were literally crying tears at the recent documentary, the movie just meant that much to them
even the few people I have met who did not like the movie generally did not think it was outright bad they just did not like the slower pace of the movie, it is not an action film by any stretch, or the general corniness of it which is way different stance than hating it, it just wasnt for them
>>480164 >>480110 It's an observation found mostly in zoomer fans who got into DC through digital distribution (but mostly piracy) Basically how they're more critical toward anything they think made Superman "boring"
>>480199 off the top of my head, the only one that really gets accused of that is John Byrne's run on superman STAS, at least among those who actually watched it, are surprised at just how much it actually fleshes out superman
>>480202 The more critical of Superman fans point out Timm and Dini weren't really fans of the character A common talking point being that they openly felt that Clark's rogues gallery was lacking when they could've used Terra-Man, Lord Satanis, etc
>>480203 That is brought up a lot, but most people have highly positive views on STAS regardless and it is actually seen in a more positive light by modern fans rather than by people who were watching it when it came out
at the time the DCAU was out, it was seen as a middle child caught between the superior BTAS and JLU, not bad but small in comparison but people getting into the DCAU years after it ended are more likely to rate STAS as equal to both
>>480106 Oh hey, I also saw that tweet https://twitter.com/Question_Comics/status/1914422304068546876 Seriously tho, Superman 78 does not fit here lmao
>>480561 >>480221 It's not bait Younger Superman fans on social media think Superman TAS is overrated and doesn't do the character justice the same way Batman TAS does and they REALLY hate Byrne Superman
>>480579 >Younger Superman fans I'm not a zoomie and I hate Byrne superman It's still low effort bait. Don't expect genuine discussion when all you can come up with is meme's and stupid ones at that.
There's a long, active thread about fucking Owl House and it's not even 90% porn and it's fucking more active than anything else on this mongolian basketweaving refugee resort.
>>480106 John Byrne did not age well, plain and simple. He was important, and had some good ideas, but he had some stinkers too, and some major ideas he had for how to rewrite Superman rubbed people the wrong way with time. "Krypton was an utterly loveless and sterile society, and also Clark was born in America so he's not an immigrant." Sorry Mr. Byrne, but no. But hey, I'll take businessman Lex.
Weird seeing STAS and the Donner Superman movies lumped in with Man of Steel. Very different fandoms. STAS in particular had the advantage of being able to take some good bits from multiple sources, including Byrne's work.
