Thread about this obscure Korean Animated Series where cute and funny mermaids goes to the land and the school and have magical girl powers where they fight monsters, recover the pieces of a macguffin and learn everyday lessons.
Recently, I learned about this 4chan backup site that serves as a temporary backup in case of emergency, and I learned that most people are hanging around there while the site recovers (or at least I hope so), so i made this thread of this series here for the ocassion.
It looks like there is NSFW board about /co/ too called Promotiond, so fanart of that kind can go there if you want (a separate thread needs to be created for that and link these images here too as well)

>>476957 Ay, ya made a thread here too. Cool. And judging by some previous posts, I think you can technically post nsfw here too. Honestly I'm not even sure why there's a split for porn but for now probably not a bad idea to go too far as we test the waters.
>>477447 A bunch of animated shorts with non-body traction seem to have been made in the time when the series was in a one-year hiatus. It could be a reason why it took a while for the series to launch the next season since the usual youtube shorts were made very cheaply and easy to make. That and or lack of budget.
I have a theory that another reason why this series had a hiatus of that lenght is that they were also working on the Season 3. Why do i say that? Is because iirc, the trademark of Season 2 was revelated in early past year, and it kinda happened the same when the Season 2 started broadcasting.
Maybe Tenvent and some investors saw the potential of this show to be a whole franchise and they decided to get in work on the 2nd and 3rd seasons simultaneously with the new monay they got from them, plus some more animated youtube shorts in the meantime.
It may also indicate that those motion capture shorts were made in the end of season one production idk, with the few budget they had. Is just assumptions btw.
>>477447 That really is a lot better than the awkward motion captured dancing and others they've been. Even if it is kind of funny how her canvas just falls off the screen in the end. I wonder if now they have more crew on these cleaning them up now that the second season has started.
>>477733 A shota is only as valuable as how likable he is. That one seems like a brat. Anyway, I'm more interested in this shark dude. He looks cool and it looks like he's got some invisible back up too. Unless it's something from a season two episode I haven't caught yet. Still waiting on the dub or at least subs myself. It also looks like we'll have some fun shenanigans with the girls as they go broke trying to win at that crane game.
>>478156 There were rips for the first two or so episodes. Someone had a link for them back on /co/ but they seemed nervous about sharing them and said they'd delete them at the end of the day. I didn't download them since I was waiting for subs or dubs but it seems like that's about all we have right now. I don't think they mentioned one way or another about doing dubs or subs officially.
>>478167 Damm we seriously are lacking of new stuff here. Hoping that we can recover from this in the following weeks and get the people we have in the threads before 4chan went down. But looking at how it was going on lately, it seems the majority doesn't know this place and the other eight chan that most ppl are in.

>>478173 Yeah, I'm not going to lie, it's pretty barren regarding new stuff for the show right now. At least on our end. Which is an odd situation considering the new season is apparently currently airing. The language barrier that Korean / Chinese presents is doing a lot keeping it down I imagine. Part of why I never really minded those awkward social media motion captured shorts the show would put out since I get the need of wanting to fill time while trying to keep the show in people's minds during waits. God only knows how long we may have to wait for an English dub, hell I'd take a Spanish dub at this point even with my mediocre Spanish skill, and there doesn't seem to be many who can sub the show right now. Even if there were not having the raw episodes makes that impossible anyway. At the very least, this is a slow board so I don't think there's any fear of the thread drifting away over night. Hopefully as more time passes more of our regulars from /co/ swing by and find this place. In the mean time about all we can do is post the girls and wait.
>>478231 Damn. I'd have liked to hear some Spanish from these girls. Guess it's a miracle the show got an English dub in the first place. I wonder if the show would have caught on in Latin America.
>>478254 That's what I would have figured. And it's got cute girls and is a magical girl series too. I would have thought for sure there would be an audience there for it. I hope they wise up soon and either get a dub out there for other regions or at least start getting subtitles out there for global releases.
>>478370 >That lip detail they sometimes give the girls is pretty lewd. Red seems to get a lot of lip focus, for some reason.
>>478181 >it's pretty barren regarding new stuff for the show right now The Youtube leak videos got taken down. I had a small fan channel for Bubblegem that was wiped off Youtube. I think that somebody is focusing on taking down Bubblegem content right now, making it really hard to share around. I don't think we'll be seeing much out of the series until the lawyers calm down a bit.
>>478409 Didn't realize they got so strict they stated hitting fan channels. Guess when it's probably the only thing this studio is known for they'll go after leaks as well as they can. I imagine Catbox and other similar anonymous file sharing sites here will be safe enough anyway.
>>478409 For Red it does sort of make sense. She's the beauty queen and all. When Purple brings out those lips it's a surprise considering her goofier nature.
New screenshots found at a Chinese Page about the series. Besides featuring a new look at the girls with their nightgrown (ToT), it also features a very important shot of all the girls using their new magical powers ready to face an unknown villain (maybe the usual ones who decided to start acting and threat the surface world) without the time stop, and it also looks like a large crowd is cheering them, maybe indicating a potential spoiler for the season finale as the girls being regonized to be local heroines. ...Or just part of a spetacle like in Ep 23 from Season 1 >https://x.com/cutemimiS2/status/1914452920273420385
>>479093 Those are some cute nightgowns. Even if they're fishy underneath. Besides that, that shot of yours does look like it could either be a big character moment for the town and the girls. Or maybe the girls just transform so they have pretty costumes during a parade which the float in the back makes me think could be the case. Either way, it's more of season two which is cool.
>>479230 What if they're both? Maybe they transform as a way to show spectacle, but in the end, the citizens regonize them as heroines and their identity becomes public. It could be a good twist to that trope tbh.
>>479238 I'd honestly be kind of impressed if the show does a status quo change like that. I guess the show effectively spent the whole first season introducing new characters to break up a potential status quo so maybe it's not that out of the question. But still. That's a big step up.
Ker has open comissions recently so if you want to commission him some Bubblegem arts, cus he did a bunch of them, you can do that now! Especially for that one who has commissioned an artist to do feet arts of Red and Indigo. >https://x.com/keramagath/status/1914504404541047265
>>479334 The release date of all 26 episodes of season 2 is known, you can find this in the 'pedia article for it, but you need to translate it to understand. The final episode, S02E26, comes in July this year.
>>479415 So this isn't going to be a Miraculous situation where episodes are aired randomly and without warning in random regions. They've actually got a plan and schedule for the whole season. It's kind of refreshing seeing a whole season laid out this directly. Though I'm kind of bummed there's still no sign of a dub yet.
>>480122 In the official YT channel those 8 subs were even added to the playlist of Korean-dubbed episodes, you can switch them on. The other episodes don't have any subs of course. I don't think there's any motivation in subbing S1 eps because the English dub of all 26 episodes exists, those speech lines are the "subs", and it's a much more kid-friendly (target audience) way of watching the show. I did auto-transcribe all those S1 English episodes to make subtitles from them, you can find them in here: https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/148183618/#148194940 You'd use them to watch S1 Korean episodes. The new S2 eps. aren't yet dubbed, one would have to do a transcription + translation with either the Korean or Chinese audio.
>>480270 You need to hear it to understand. It's distracting in many ways: the voices don't match the characters; they have this accent (probably Asian VAs) etc. l prefer the original Korean dub, but if the English dub works for you then that's way easier than "having to download each YouTube episode into a video file, then playing it with the SRT subtitle".
Some kind anon gathered all season 1 eps with EN dub in this MEGA folder (base64 encoded) so you can hear what it's like: aHR0cHM6Ly9tZWdhLm56L2ZvbGRlci9sM1VWRmE0VCNSaE1GSlZBc3lkQWxZVXZMRnhrZlV3
>>480657 I've watched most of the show in English. It's the Korean dub that I was curious about. I imagine most of the characters would have some possible differences in tone considering different voice actors would give at least slightly different performances even in best case scenario and there would also be some awkwardness considering how janky the English dub is. I meant more in dialogue choices and how or if it effects the story or characters.
>>481174 What kind of question is that? They're mermaids. Obviously they use the aquatic system. Which of course measures everything in fins and flippers. Among other well know aquatic measurements.
>>481645 I tried to create one as soon as the site got back, but it looks like i cannot do it right now as the captcha is broken. Any anon who can help it there will be appreciated, even if it will be later on.
>>478483 >Didn't realize they got so strict they stated hitting fan channels. There's only been one fan channel that I've even found, so it's hard to say what their policy is.
>Catbox and other similar anonymous file sharing sites here will be safe enough Maybe. I've used Litterbox to share. The links for the S1 episodes seem to be still working, so it seems like they're focused on just S2 leaks at the moment.
>>479230 >Those are some cute nightgowns. Even if they're fishy underneath. The S2 opening has a scene were everybody (including Leo) are together with a sleepover. It's probably in the magic house from the 2nd episode but nice to see them doing more stuff underwater.
