I was barely going to /co/ these days, threads were all stale and several day old and no new cartoon seems to have any lasting power in term of threads.
>>474187 the pandemic was like nearly 6 years ago, I really doubt it's a real excuse anymore. cartoons/comics are still made, but you get one thread, people binge it, or loose interest after 3 week. If there's a girl or loli in it, you get threads about her, but it's not to discuss the show.
>>474203 what about sari sumdac threads full of badly drawn DA pics that still survive 2 weeks because the board is so fucking dead you only need a bump per day to avoid page 10?
>>474204 >If there's a girl or loli in it, you get threads about her Kinda makes you wonder what would happen to the fanbases of shows if you were to swap the ages of most MCs.
>>474209 well wonder loli shows what happen when you deage. I think we used to have aged up threads in the past?but yeah adult people bore people real quick. milf threads are suck recycled sockpuppet threads.
It's kind of like those ads on daytime TV for the law firm of Schmeklestein and Horowitz to file a class action suit if you contracted mesothelioma while serving at Ft. Bragg between 1952 and 1994.
the 900 sec post time was implemented last October, someone told me it was a temp measure to slow down the flood of election spam and would be removed after the election was over
You have to do it the first time you register an IP and you can "stack" IPs as well. Each time you switch IPs you will have to re-verify but once they're logged in the 4chan_pass cookie each IP logged in that cookie will stay verified even if you switch between them. Also if you post enough times with a given IP it will eventually let you bypass spam filters so it becomes same as if you did email verify.
>>474248 >Also if you post enough times with a given IP it will eventually let you bypass spam filters so it becomes same as if you did email verify. That explains why I had no trouble despite never doing any 'email verification'
lately i found it seems to be blocking proxies and you usually get a "this IP is blocked for abuse" message so you have to email verify the proxy to use it, but it's not automatic. sometimes you can post up to 30 or more times before tripping the filter other times they only last 2 posts.
The mods must have put some kind of anti-proxy script because you used to be able to post with them limitlessly without tripping any filters (very handy for ban evasion). I think it depends on how much a bot is trying to use the proxy, if there's no bot activity the script isn't tripped. You can email verify them to get around that but if you get banned then that email account is also banned for all IPs that try to use it.
Yeah I think the difficulty of the captchas goes up when there's high site activity and/or bots. I especially find weekends bad because presumed 4chan has higher traffic on Saturday/Sunday.
I used to be able to go on /int/, get a bunch of proxies for different countries, and samefag funpost as different cunts it was super easy, you just switched them on the fly but the bullshit the mods did lately makes it hard to do that now. Which is why 4chan is kill, anything that was fun and produced OC they managed to get rid of or block.
https://desuarchive.org/int/thread/137960875/ https://desuarchive.org/int/thread/194334994/ Several of these were my proxy collection--some of my prized 4chinz moments. I can't do that now unless I verified each proxy and stacked them in the 4chan_pass cookie to not have to wait 15 minutes and even then they'd probably trip the filter and be IP blocked.
Looks like plus4/co/ is a lot more popular than 8/co/ for refugees. Good. This imageboard was basically built for /co/ in case anything like this ever happened.
>>474240 >>474248 I'm not storing cookies from a mongolian basketweaving site controlled by hiromoot on any device I own. Any of you not clearing your cookies on the regular deserve all the spam and virus y'all have on your devices at the moment.
>>474505 Email verify is easier but you can only do it once every six hours with the same email account and if you get banned the ban also applies to your account.
>>474531 No, he meant the 4chan april fools, where they removed every board one by one until you only had /b/ and /bant/ and one or two others. They also relaxed moderation. For a day, 4chan was like it used to be 20 years ago.
honestly, even when the site comes back, can we just stay here? we can upload .mp4s, no bullshit captchas, no irate jannies. This is just the better place to talk about cartoons and now there's an actual pph to back it up.
>>474561 I mean plus4chan will always be here as well. 4chan is good because there's lots of people there and posting/loading is quick. I do like the silly jokes the main mod does sometimes like this C&C Red Alert thing where you get a little screen of generals yammering before the reply window comes up. It's cute.
>>474561 Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh on one hand I can dig the more laxed pace and added benefits but I'd probably just head back to /co/ prime. It's awful, fucking awful even and I honestly think the next moderation there is gonna be even worse somehow but 4chan is my go to discussion site to get the ball rolling. Especially when it comes to discussing, discovering, and introducing obscure media.
>>474569 I kind of hope 4chan prime stays down, the benefits here are just so much better. Hell, the whole /co/mrade theme on the site at the moment has more soul than anything prime 4chan has done in years
>>474561 Like I like this chan (feels nice to post in etc.) but not having an automatic updater or a thread watcher embedded into the site not relying on RSS like on 4chan Prime are two annoyances against it. When it comes back I'll still check plus4chan every so often though cause I still like its vibe.
>>474598 Yeah, the inline expander has been bugging me too a little, I want to make it optional, but that means creating a panel for user preferences.
>>474593 We never had the amount of activity that would warrant a thread watcher. It has been on my radar but it's a lot of work as we have no json backend for it.
>>474614 >It has been on my radar but it's a lot of work as we have no json backend for it. Reasonable. And with news that 4chan is getting fixed up then I guess you shouldn't worry too much now.
>>474618 >And with news that 4chan is getting fixed up "Fixed" only in a technical sense. You cannot trust Hiro and his goons to actually moderate the site once it's up and running.
>>474620 Well I guess we'll just have to wait and see what this new mod team will be like then (cause I'm guessing none of the old mods/jannies are returning.)
posting this here because some anon on 8moe(right) thought that you guys where confusing us with 8kun(left), we ain't the same thing, ok?, feel free to visit/come by any time you want, have a good day.
I just wanna take the time to say I fucking love Stith. Someone on old /co/ had a massive fucking vendetta against this movie, and I bet it was SharkTaleFag.
>>474631 There's open source chan frameworks out there that help in their creations, though 8kun is the rebirth of 8chan (one of the most famous and infamous 4chan offshoots) while 8chan.moe is a separate site using the same framework.
>>474631 moe & by a mile, both have 5 files per post & sound webms, kun has 16mb file limit(not sure total per post limit) while moe has 32mb file limit & 50mb total per post, if you want to peruse moe, may i recommend the webm thread? https://8chan.moe/co/res/1462.html
>>474659 Heads up, if you access plus4chan from any chan aggregator like allchans, you will be permanently blocked from posting. The reason is because they are responsible for 99% of our spam and 50% of our cheese pizza posting attempts.
>>474665 Just wanna say that seeing you the owner of the site just piping in about things reminds me of seeing Moot posting back in the day and it makes me feel fuzzy :3
>>474634 Maybe half those threads were started with "movie bad" to get free bumps. And you need all the bumps you can get, if you want your thread to live long.
>>474669 I guess if it isn't back up by friday you could always try to make a watch thread here. I'd say a majority of refugees probably went either here or one of the 8chans.
>>474667 >We’re smoking on Tiberium crystals >Call me the Messiah the way you know I’m coming back >He who controls the street, commands the money, he who Commands the money, Conquers the whole game, and I AM him >the GDI will NEVER find me, I am untraceable >Shawty pussy look like a Scrin devastator warship
>>474688 It was like that for 2 days now. Just the front page. ALSO WHY ARE THERE ADS WHEN I TRY TO POST? I mean it is better than waiting 15 minutes. But at least give me some cool ads or make an ad where it blends perfectly with the reply box. Like a dragon flying as you're typing. That would be cool.
>>474690 Oh nvm I can just click on them and they immediately go away. Interesting concept Plus4chan. And I just noticed they're from Command and Conquer I think? Just the video looks like something you'd see in that.
>>474700 >The whole current site theme is C&C Red Alert OH that's why it looked familiar, I only played the games when the remake of the first 2 came out. I enjoyed it, wished I was into it earlier.
>>474710 Plus4chan has always been a nice, chill (though slow) alternative, probably just because a majority of 4chan's userbase outside of /co/ barely knows it exists as it was pretty much made so /co/ anons had a place to go when 4chan was down/posting wasn't working.
>>474527 The same soyjak-obsessed board that just killed 4chan doxxed Gooseworks (or however is spelled) and they found a whole bunch of posts of him about cartoon women performing self-trepanning with electric drills
>>474720 Unfortunately this seems to happen because your computer is incredibly old and does not support hardware accelerated rendering.
>>474725 >Just realized you can't post media from clipboard. Can you elaborate? You are not meant to put media in the post message, so there's something I may not understand here.
>>474747 You can use copy/paste fine as long as it is text, you just can't copy/paste images and such. I thought you meant you want to copy/paste an actual image to upload.
>>474755 You are using a machine with no GPU acceleration so one CPU core has to run at full tilt, and since you have 2 cores only you get 50% CPU use. You need to upgrade either your browser or video drivers, GPU acceleration has been in all browsers for 15 years.
Man, I hope things go back to normal so I can post my loli doodles on /trash again. /dlc/ was a shithole, but it was my shithole to post cute and funny /co/ characters.
>>474870 Same. Thought I'd get some stuff done but end up missing funposting already. >tfw a half a screen blimp coveres the posts as I type Nice layout you got here blackhand
>>475074 >Hiro sits alone on his tatami mat taking big bites out of hubba bubba rolls, chewing them and then spitting them into a tub >please understand, this is the only way to fix the website
>>475080 >Hiro sits alone on his tatami mat taking big bites out of hubba bubba rolls, chewing them and then spitting them into a tub >He then molds the gum into new jannies
>>475352 Hiro et al seemingly need to upgrade every single part of the site backend to plug any security holes which as said could probably take a couple weeks. Plus they may need to get an entire new mod team because of the originals getting doxxed? It's such a mess, and all because Hiro removed /qa/.
>>475371 Counterpoint: fuck /qa/ and fuck the Zoomers, they deserve nothing good. I cannot tell you how much hate I have for the Zoomers and their fucking Minecraft Movie now. I would love nothing more than for us to go to war with China so all the Zoomers could go die in the rice fields. Fuck them and all their shit.
>>475371 >and all because Hiro removed /qa/ It's his fault for even allowing /qa/ to get as bad as it did, the dumbass should've shot the board out behind the barn a LONG time ago when it started showing signs of mutating into a more deranged /s4s/- or more importantly actually made an effort to moderate and clean it up in the first place.
>>475490 Even though Hiro seems incredibly lackadaisical about this the actual webmasters that run the site are working their asses off. Really goes to show he doesn't care about owning it that much.
>>475490 It would get worse because Elon just has terrible ideas and would absolutely force some type of more overt monetisation schemes to make the website “profitable”.
>>475558 Nice how you brought up data scraping. The worst thing about it, is how it will be scraped by the owner, or by a 3rd party bot. You are getting (sc)raped either way, boy!
>>475564 I was thinking more about how Elon would force some type of registration (still allow you to post anonymously if you want but you couldn’t do anything without signing in first. You know, like how Twitter doesn’t allow you to browse freely without having an account of your own anymore) as that would allow him to mine user’s personal information using email addresses etc. Atop of of course using everything being posted as data for Grok
>>475525 The audio starts back up anytime I go to a different page. And pausing it doesn't get rid of it, nor does it get rid of the blimps blocking the posts or the fucking C&C cutscenes that block making fucking posts.
>>475621 The theme is cool for exactly 5 seconds, then it becomes annoying as shit. Especially the ear rape that starts everytime you open a new tab and the blimp that flies in FRONT of posts so you can't see them. Yes, I have autoplay disabled in browser but it still somehow manages to override it if I click anywhere in the newly opened thread. And no, I should not have to ctrl-m every fucking time I open a thread.
mook at least had the decency to put shit like this on a special theme so you could switch back to your usual theme if you didn't want whatever eye/ear cancer was in store.
>>475631 >Some of you need to go outside and get a grip There's nothing for me out there but people who will ostracize me and see me as a freak At least inside I can be a freak with little care
I found if you switch to a different tab when eg. loading threads it's a lot faster. Also if you type replies in Notepad and paste them into the Reply box because then you don't have 5 seconds of delay before your text appears.
NTA but I do wish there was a way to turn off the background theme I've been going through inspect element and I can't seem to find a way to change it back to how it was before the theme
>>475648 >Didn't blackhand already tell you its because your PC is ancient and can't handle Hardware acceleration or something. is that the same anon or is it a different anon?
>>475630 >>475655 >>475644 >>475642 You are running Windows 7 on a machine with 2 CPU threads. At least try to upgrade your video drivers so hardware acceleration works in the browser, every site you open will be a lot faster if you can at least get that done.
>Also if you type replies in Notepad and paste them into the Reply box because then you don't have 5 seconds of delay before your text appears. You can type while the video plays and the video skips if you click on it.
>>475666 I don't care about your problems. My problems are the only ones that matter, and you deserve to die for thinking otherwise. Your rights end where my feelings begin.
>>475689 My fear is that the opposite will happen: more sensible anons will disperse to other imageboards (or abandon them and move on) while the schizos are the ones clamoring to get back and repopulate ASAP
>>475718 I think a lot of people lurk a shitload. I come to check in on the Sonic threads infrequently to follow up on The Ride I was going to volunteer to do another run of it this October but I might see about doing it here instead if the member count stays at a good level for discussion without publisher war schizos ruining the threads.
>>475780 >it's hard to tell It literally tells you what each board is for if you hover your pointer over the name in the board list or open the board and read the title header.
>>475760 There’s like 50 /mlp/ bunkers >nhnb a little rulescucked but otherwise fine >8moe /mlp/ basically ok I guess, kind of a manic atmosphere >ponychan last I checked there were 2 active threads and they were both just prolonged arguments >mlpol so so, mostly funposts and coom
And of course >Plus4chan /mlp/ bunker thread Which is very comfy, but has practically no activity
And because the userbase is split between all of them, they’re all kind of slow, sad stuff really
>>475994 I dig the choice of her hair shifting from blonde near the end. That's neat. And you made a damn good nice freckled bum for her. Feels like you've been upping your anatomy game lately with these Alice. I'm glad we at least have here to post stuff in the mean time.
>>473610 I loved this movie as a kid. It really gave me my love of Sci-fi. >>474639 Imageboards have been a thing for a long time on the internet. Folks would create their own offshoots for various reasons. Some boards would create offshoots as backups in case something happened to the main board. Other times folks wanted more niche discussion.
>>474185 Hunter: The Parenting was getting good threads. Debating anon's on who the ghoul is was fun. It also provided good crossposting content with /tg/. >tfw most /co/ anon's don't know about the Battletech cartoon.
>>475490 >Elon buys 4chan. >Immediately rebrand it Xchan. >Threads are out of order unless you buy a Xchan pass. >Users are highly encouraged to tie their twitter account to their Xchan pass account. >Anonymous users without a pass can only post once every 8 minutes and create 3 threads a day. >Integrates Grok into the site. >Grok will randomly reply to threads. >Xchan is kept alive well into the future but acts more as a nature preserve showing how the internet used to be.
>>476001 >I dig the choice of her hair shifting from blonde near the end. Yeah, I've been digging that style for, I kinda wanted it to be black but I kinda faltered in using key-black in the piece. I have some other ideas for my version of Alice that I want to implement but some time down the line. >Feels like you've been upping your anatomy game lately with these Alice. I'm glad we at least have here to post stuff in the mean time. Thank you and same, the slower pace feels nice, just wish there was auto refresher but it's alright.
>>474700 >It's pretty cute IMO, feels like something 4chan could've done for April Fools one year. Having Tim Curry and Jonathan Pryce pop up for a few seconds before each post is funnier than that lame "let's take the site down for hours on purpose because Elon xD" April Fools event. My only gripe is that it would've been nice to get more random music from the games instead of just Hell March 3, but I've never programmed this sort of thing so I don't know how feasible that would have been.
>>476071 Well stuff being of that nature and there of all places to do with each other and not but respecting shouldn't be that thereof if it wants to be really.
>>476254 >take silly amounts of ressources Anon, you've been told repeatedly that the problem is at your end and can be easily fixed by updating your browser.
>>476282 >there couldn't possibly be more than one guy in the entire universe that's affected by this That's not how it works. I'm not the win7 dude with the toaster. Having a few tabs open with this shit is not an issue. The issue arises when you also have other tabs open. I currently have 25, 4 of which has this crap theme running and it does affect performance. I'd have 5 tabs with the shit if I wasn't fortunate enough to have the last tab opened before the theme was added.
inb4 >just liek close ur tabs bro No. I need them. When 4chans devs are doing a better design job than you, it's time to admit not having a way to remove this shit was a bad idea.
>>476287 Thanks, Captain Obvious. If I can have 50 tabs open without any issues, but I get performance issues at 25 because 4 of them are running this theme, then the theme is indeed the culprit.
>4chan goes down >still surrounded by children that pretend to be retarded for the sake of prolonging arguments The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Not going to bother further, because neither of you actually care about this. You just want attention.
>>476315 >Could my own browsing habits be the source of my browser-related woes? >No, anons are just saying that to be contrary! Plus ca change indeed...
