New trailer The Fantastic Four: First Steps | Official Trailer | Only in Theaters July 25youtube thumb
I like the retro style it has and the fact it basically has nothing to do with the MCU, but I'm still not completely sold on it

They kinda look like figures on a display stand in that pic, which I assume was intentional.

Why am I supposed to hate this Surfer again?

Having now watched the trailer, I'd say the only real offeder here is the color grading. Totally at odds with the movie's obvious attempt to recreate the look and feel of Silver Age FF.

My issue is with Bens voice, but I also do really like the retro aesthetic they went with, but if the leaks are anything to go by I'm a bit bummed out because they're somehow, at some point going to end up in the main universe, so we might not see this world again/often

Eh. It's no Ted Kassidy, but it's not a deal breaker for me either.

The rock of "we want to honor the fact that the FF came first (more or less)" and the hard place of "but we have to find a way to include them in a timeline where they didn't".

I can’t sanction Ben Grim with a soft voice like that

I shall withhold judgement until I hear him say "It's Clobbering Time." Visually, I think he looks really good though.

I'm maybe giving it too much benefit of the doubt. MCU has always been uneven quality-wise, and post-Endgame has given audiences no Winters Soldiers and a lot of Dark Worlds.

On the one hand, the last good Superman movie was made 45 years ago. On the other hand, there's never been a good Fantastic Four movie.

Let's hope this one breaks the trend.

It's an MCU movie. That's par for the course.
