>>437021 >>437019 (me) I know what it is, back in my day it was XJ-9. I just don't use the site anymore so maybe just put Eris forward. Those two characters are basically the two dedicated "First Boner" candidates for 2000s kids. also, .fandom.com is botnet, use the conservatory :^)
>>437014 I’m pretty sure they’ll be on the main site to be quite honest, hype threads were deleted in the past year as well, a lot of people would be quite upset if the tournaments were canned entirely because at this point it’s tradition. Although if something does end up happening this is definitely the backup site to do so. Not to mention if that new captcha system is fixed for many anons to rapid fire posts
>>437060 >electioneering RP Realistically there should be no roleplay, there wasn't for 2 1/2 years of tournaments. You could campaign for your character but not make it excessive, as in you're not fully indulged as the character And this is the most important: Once your character is done that's it, don't bring them up again. There's no point in bringing them up again once they are out. The main reason this mess happened is narcissistic Simonfags would not let go of their character
>>437064 >The main reason this mess happened is narcissistic Simonfags would not let go of their character It was more than that, it was the most seeded character going against the lowest seeded character, a first for all of the tourneys. It wasn't just Simonfags or Jackfags, that moment overshadowed the whole tourney right from the start.
>>437065 > it was the most seeded character going against the lowest seeded character, a first for all of the tourneys. Anon this happens literally every tourney
>>437069 Really? I remember it being a very big deal that seed 1 was going against seed 128 I didn’t know that matchup happened in other tourneys, /co/ tourneys at the least I don’t participate in other tourneys
>>437070 This is just a misunderstanding if you haven't seen Simon's source material. In Infinity Train, the passengers get off the train after the number on their hand goes to zero but Simon believed the higher the number means the more powerful the person. In the contest, he has the highest number and it's in character for him to think this means he's a bigger deal than the lowest number. I don't particularly like the character but I can see why people thought it was funny.
>>437081 It isn't, the match-ups are randomized >>437091 Okay, i get the whole Simon fad last year now, it was a seed fitting to the character, like if numbuh 1 got the number 1 seed people would run with it
It's a good thing I won't need to nominate anyone. Anons will nominate any woman that is halfway interesting, and if I nominate someone obscure there is 300% chance she will never will.
>>437076 She'll make the tourney, but I haven't seen her mentioned on /co/ in months, it's all Luz, Amity and hating the show and ship She has no shot beyond round 1
>>437100 Didn't he do insanely well in the Tag Tournament, and only lose to the eventual winner(and even then, it was close and he might have beaten them if Dan was still in)
I'm gonna be nominating my girl Calliope She may be from a hated franchise and even hated in her fandom, but to me that makes her the ultimate underdog
>>437211 Yeah, this was an entire fandom change on all their wikis, not by any choice. You were forced into it Luckily it seems images didn't get messed up, I heard on some the changeover did
I'm curious at what point mods will stop deleting tourny threads on the main site.
Ms. /co/ last year had active discussion threads up basically 24/7 between the 5th of September and the 11th when it actually started, with no problem. Mr. /co/ is technically even more extreme because discuss on that basically starts the moment Ms. /co/ ends.
Tag is a bit harder to judge due to fuse last year, but still.
September 1st? Mid August? September 4th or 5th? Nothing til the day of due to all the excess attention this year
>>437276 Definitely not yet. I'd try at the two week mark at the tail end of August, and if that doesn't work, the first of September, and if that doesn't work, the 4th aka the one week mark, and if that doesn't work, the 5th aka where last years threads popped up, and it that doesn't work......give up
>>437293 For clarification (as the guy who made the tier list) the purple tier can be a bit confusing because it essentially has two different types of characters in it.
Firstly, the guys who fall dead inbetween Midtier's and E8ers. They tend to get consistently to the Top 16 and maybe even the E8, but not enough to go blue. Or, maybe they used to get E8, but have since fallen out of fashion to some degree.
Heinz, Bugs, and Jack are the main examples of that.
The rest of Purple Tier are either FOTM's (He-man, Pepe), have some sort of history with the tournament (Oswald, Simon), or characters with a high degree of violatility (Dan, Mao Mao) that COULD very easily go E8 or even win under the ideal circumstances, but could also easily flop early.
>>437294 Also, most of the tiers have mini plus tiers at the top that I'd put above the rest of their bracket, but below the tier above.
CandleJackov, Zoidberg, and Ramses are all Qualifer +. They could all very easily get in due to their status and maybe even get to R2, but they have no staying power. Candle has memes, Zoidberg too, though a bit broader and less /co/, Ramses has last years nonsense.
Ruckus, Alastor, and Jon are at the Early Round Plus tier for the same reason. Ruckus is very consistent in atleast going one round successfully, Alastor has the voice anon backing, and Jon has a weaker version of the Ruckus factor combined with infamy from last year. Could go a few rounds easily.
Midtier, all the Eds, Megamind, Iron Giant, and MAYBE Iroh would be plus tier. Their highly consistent and have come within striking range of the Elite's more then once.
Mao Mao and Dan are both Purple Plus due to them both forming a feedback loop with eachother with their rivarly and both having lot's of recent news to work with, though Mao Mao is higher since the cancellation leaks just happened while Dan's revival leak was back in February. Heinz is a connsistent high player, just not enough for Blue. Still, Purple Plus, Indigo i guess....
Courage is the only plus tier in Blue due to his new movie and Muriel's death.
>>437308 It's been like that since I started keeping track, it's what I used for the 128 day thread, the 64 day thread, and the 50 day thread where people said I had it wrong. Wiki had said September 10th since March.
>>437344 Yes Disney shows on /co/ have been following the "___fags" format to refer to fans of certain shows, more frequently then with other company shows >Frogfags is Amphibia >Owlfags is Owl House >Duckfags is Ducktales >Cabsfags is Three Caballeros Don't know if there's any more
>>437391 No I know that, just explaining the trend with Disney show fandoms using the suffix since it's more frequent in those fandoms then in other /co/ fandoms
>Depends on if they do anything special for the 5th year aniversary. I’m hoping for an extra two rounds, 512 total people on. That would require the host to return two more times. Who knows how long the host can single-handedly keep up with /co/s autism. I'd be surprised if he even comes back this year.
>>437402 Op here. Wanna be in the next fucking episode of F4G News Produce a gosh darn vocaroo of who you want to vote for. Make it an ad if you want. https://voca.ro/19GVUZgWjZJV
>>437012 Just letting you guys know that with Friday Night Funkin’s popularity, Tankman, Pico and the Madness Combat characters have legit chances of making the bracket for /co/lympus.
>>437431 Don Bluth then turned her into an animated film character when he adapted the book into an animated, much like how Disney turned many classic fairy tales and stories into an animated film.
Someone posted on the other board but here are the elite 8 characters without a wiki page yet >Peridot >Batman >Courage >Eustace >Kuzco >Mr. Incredible >Skeletor >Superman
>>437518 Because we've told you 1000 times to not post these threads but everyone's autistic ass can't take a few months to chill. If they literally just shut up about it for 10 months then they won't remove threads about tournaments ever They removed them in 2020 too so that's your indication that they won't ban it unless you keep spazing out making threads on /co.
>>437548 I have a feeling the whole being exposed thing from last year might actually prevent him from spamming like he has because it might keep getting worse for him
Gertrude has a strong shot of being the best non-capeshit comic performance yet.
/co/‘s been growing a following for her since late last year, she road into the Tag Tournament off of it, and the double announcements of more fandubs for the later issues and new issues coming soon is adding fuel to the fire
i made my own miss co. 2021 (prediction) tier list. here's my thoughts.
(i remove "probably going to win" category due me have no idea who's gonna win)
Elite 8:
Raven/Frankie Foster/Azula/Shego - i mean, do i really need to explain? of course they're definitely gonna be in Top 8 again.
Jesscia Rabbit/Eris - i'm surprised these two hasn't made it Elite 8 yet. Especially Jessica Rabbit, the most Hottest Cartoon Girl of all time! hopefully both of them will be in Elite 8 anytime soon.
Could go far if things go well for them. (A.K.A Girls that has bad RNG):
Muriel Bagge - a very kind elder lady and has funny curious moments whenever the monsters that Courage sees what they're up to. too bad her voice actress passed away recently..
Helen Bramley/Maria Rivera - i really don't understand why these two hasn't nominated in last year. (Especially there are over 1000+ nominations) Helen is funny and very enjoyable, and Maria is one of the Hottest Nicktoon mom i ever seen.
Miss Pauling - didn't noticed that she's came originally from /co/ (Comic) instead of /v/ until now. and since i'm a huge Team Fortess 2 fan (no surprise to anyone). i'm gonna vote for her.
Leni Loud - Honestly. she's the only female Loud House character who got the most votes to make it. even though i don't watch The Loud House that often, it's sucks to see Leni didn't make it to Top 128 last year. maybe one day she's gonna have her redemption chance this year.
Annie Bramley - if i vote for Helen Bramley, then i should also vote for Annie. she's a very kind girl to Pony, her friends and her parents. i know i heard people thinking she's a Hilda rip-off but i don't care. i really enjoy her!
Johanna - speaking of Hilda. Johanna is one of those who's really popular. but ehh, would prefer Eris but still.
Enid - Out of all Female OK KO characters, Enid is the only one who made it in top 128 multiple times. sure she's cool but since this show got booted off from CN unfairly. you see these girls rarely in miss co. (all except for Enid)
Midtier at best:
Sid Chang/Kelsey Pokoly/Dee Dee/Hilda/Anne Boonchuy/Luz/Marie - other than Annie Bramley. to be honest, i don't feel comfortable to voting these girls. sure some are cool/fun (Sid Chang and Kelsey Pokoly), some are mystery (Marie and Hilda). but i'm sorry there's no way all of them are gonna be in Elite 8. EVER!
Qualifier Spam:
Toph - these Tophposters ruined this character for me. it's just sad.
Maggie/Pacifica Northwest = like.. are Alphia Bitches even special anymore?
Loona - if you saw a guy who's keep putting her in Elite 8 prediction posts. you know why i put her here.
Never EVER nominated:
She's Legs Go All The Way Up Griffin - BIG FAT NO TO ME, THANKS.
Miss Dimmsdale/Princess Marco (Diaz) - What Happen you take these drag boys (which are intended as a joke) way too seriously. then you shoehorn nominated them for real.
Here are the last shows with potential new characters or adaptions of characters that could qualify for Ms /co/ Mr /co/ nominees have until the end of the month
I meant to say consistent arcs like SCAM Inc, Cult of Wilkins, the Dan Mao Mao rivalry, Eggman and Koopa’s thing, Tulio and Miguel’s godhood, the Santa arc
>>437632 >>437632 >>437634 >>437635 Thanks for the feedback. I'm thinking of starting from 2018 myself but i wonder if it would be too much of a hassle and if there's even enough to work with? Still, i'll do my best no matter where i start. First i wanna get some input from people who participated in the tournaments. I wanna know what they want in, what they want out and what new i can put in as well.
>>437637 2020 are the main ones with arcs consistent enough for a comic. I’d personally suggest doing Mr. /co/ or the Tag Tournaments for a webcomic.
Tag Tournament 2020 would be the easiest. I’d ignore the whole race thing for the most part since most of the arcs did. Problem is a lot of them were tied into Mr. /co/.
For example, the Dan and Mao Mao arc was tied into events from Mr. /co/, was tied into Eggman’s arc with Jack Spicer, was tied into the Samantha-Grace-Mumbles Fiasco, and eventually got tied into Wilkins Cult arc and Bill’s arc.
The Wilkins Arc lead off of the Star and Gertrude arc, which was directly continuing off a series of RP threads on /co/ board at the time, and eventually got its paws on Zone-Tan and Amity, and indirectly many more. Not to mention the conclusion to the Tulio and Miguel arc was a response to Wilkins.
So you’d either have to pick one arc and try to condense and polish it up(Wilkins is probably the easiest for this if you want my opinion) or you’d have to do it all staring with Mr. /co.
>>437639 Yeah, i feel like i should do some things first for context. For example i feel like i should do Ms. /co/ 2019 to do Spinel's rise just so her fall in 2020 can have more meaning and impact.
>>437640 I’d start with a single arc called “The Tale of two Fraudsters” about Cap in 2018 and Spinel in 2019/2020. That’s really the most notable thing in those two years
>>437637 It really just depends on what you want out from the comic. If you want the main characters to be consistent, then /co/nrad and the judges such as Jenny would be perfect to provide commentary. Maybe you would want a rotating cast that has bigger characters with more impact, which would be the Elite Eight, or a couple of characters that people associate the tournament with (Sam & Max, Jenny , Bravo). You can just check the wiki and booru to quickly find out more about the other tournaments. >>437021 >>437054 >>437055
Depends. Do you want to base it on the vague concept of the tournament, or actual storylines from them?
If it's the latter, Wilkins is absolutely the easiest choice. It's almost entirely linear, and the interactions with other arcs are shallow. The only requirement is the Star and Gertrude stuff, which is short, still mostly linear with it, and I can provide you with everything you need. It could very easily be buffed up into a proper story
>>437657 >>437667 Well i was thinking that for the 2018 and 2019 tournaments the comics would just cover the stories of the characters with the most going on like Jenny, Spinel, Captain America, etc. While the 2020 tournaments were fill with so much i feel like to do them justice it'd be a bunch of stories leading up the grand finally.
>>437671 Star/Gertrude Arc leading into Cult of Wilkins is mostly self contained and linear with a few exceptions, atleast compared to everything else in 2020. I'll lay out all.
First, the stuff from the RP threads.
>Star's cleave removes the magic barrier seperating her verse from others, triggeres a collapse of the multiverse fabric and merging her verse with several other nearby verses that had similar events on their end. Gertrude's seizure of the heart of fairyland combined with Darkeath Deadeth's power broke hers, John Egbert's attempt to kill LE broke his, and at the center was the WarHammer verse, broken by the shit that always goes on there. A few other verses like Pretty Violent and SU also get caught in.
>Star's actions quickly attract the attention of the god emperor, who is impressed and delighted she managed to so easily wipe her universe of the magical scourges, and is intrigued by her budding sadism.
>After a brief apprenticeship where she wipes out a demon planet without a sweat, he takes her in as his own daughter, much to the detriment of his sons, who have continued to disappoint him.
>During their one day a year off from work, he takes Star to the amusement park. His sons try various Looney Tunesesque plans to kill Star, all of which fail.
>She names her space marine chapter "The Star Butterflies", and despite initial doubts, her effienct and ruthless, yet quirky and kind leadership leads to her becoming the most effective chapter in the Imperium.
>Their pink and blue armor at first attracts mocking, but soon the word spreads of their terrible effiency in slaughter. The rock metal version of the Star Vs Theme they play as battle starts strikes fear into all their foes.s Also Star casts a spell that makes cake come out of their wounds when they get shot because she's Star and still squimish about blood.
>Gertrude(Still unable to get home due to Fairyland being merged by itself and not bringing her homeverse with it) by this point has been on her own distruction spree, and briefly attempts to kill Star for her own glory and power, going on a rampage on various troops in the area, but instead meets the God Emperor, who is impressed by her immense power and perchant for violence
>While she's not QUITE as powerful or versatile as Star, and she's certainely not the best at puzzles, she's even MORE ruthless and cruel, doesn't flinch at blood and guts, and is a better drinker. Not to mention she still has the powers of the Fairyland Heart and Darketh Deadeth. He promotes her to second in command of the Butterflies, and introduces her to Star.
>Star is initially iffy, but a disgruntled Horus decides to assasinate his father, which Gertrude easily stops, killing him. Star officially takes her into the chapter as a second in command.
>The God Emperor decides to adopt her too, though due to her different skillset, instead of being a leader she becomes a solo enforcer for areas that need to 'be taught a lesson about respect", and a savage assistant to Star who uses brutality tactics.
>Gertrude briefly has a schism about dating Gilliman, but she eventually leaves him and things work out. Star starts dating a guy named Steven Universe due to their similar surface personalities, though he gradually realizes her violent and sadistic side.
>Gamma Rae from pretty violent also attracts the attention of the God Emperor due to her own violent streak and killing skills, but immediately dumps her when she kills her own team of recruit soldiers and insists she's the good guy. Gertrude mocks her relentlessly and shows her up. Rae wanders off to seek more chances to be a hero, but she keeps accidentally killing her teammates and can't get a job with any of the Warhammar cliques. She blames Gertrude and declares her her archnemesis.
>They are good for a while. There is a sweet moment where Star draws a crayon drawing of her and her dad and Gertrude pillaging.
>But eventually word comes around of a new Tyranid commander who's seemingly been sucking the luck out of everyone who opposes her and taking it for herself. Vriska Serket. "The Sp8der Girl". Star and her come at odds in a skirmish, but Star's wand catches her off guard and forces Vriska to retreat. She declares Star her rival and wants revenge.
>The family goes on a vacation. Gamma Rae(seeking to destroy Gertrude) follows them, but ends up landing in the wrong spot and murdering a family of Planet 51 aliens instead. Gertrude and Star mock her further, and kick her ass.
>The sad and defeated Rae sulks off, being found by Vriska(who was in the area planning to kill Star and her dad), who talks her way into possibly helping her, in exchange for Vriska using her luck powers to stop her from killing people accidentally.
>Soon after, the duo attack the family while they are at a lake. The battle is close, but even attempting to use her luck to disable the wand Star and her Dad combined are too much for Vriska. Gamma Rae, even luck charged, is too poorly trained to beat Gertrude, and she gets scared by the brutality tactics. They both retreat to a cave, where Vriska blames Rae for the whole ordeal, and becomes convinced if she could get the wand she could easily destroy them.
This is the last event to occur before the tournament proper, which picks up directly where this left off. I'll post that later
>>437671 Don't do anything from Mr /co/ 2020 that isn't specifically tournament results (aka don't do shit like simonfags getting the tournament banned with their dubsshit, weddingshit, generic roleplay with characters who never made it in or were out at the time, etc.) or tag-team 2020
>Jannies keep deleting every mention >Anon keeps on spamming threads to see if the host is coming back >No word from the host >No discussion even on /qa/ >Nobody is excited for either tournament It was fun when it lasted.
>>437676 If RP got the tournaments banned the mods waited a whole two months to actually not say anything about it (because they never did). It only started with the tag-team tournament and after we already had a few threads where everyone was chill. Stop pushing the narrative that RP got these tournaments banned.
>>437678 The pastebin was updated for 2021 so I assume Stats is planning on coming back. Save the doom-posting for September 9th.
>>437681 This. The tournaments got banned because fusefag mad a thread with loli/shota incest as the OP image, a mod thought it was a real tournament thread and now they think the tournaments are about loli/shota incest and will banish them to /trash/ along with the Loudfags.
>>437681 >>437685 We had Fusefag spamming porn and posts since the tournaments began in 2018. And each time despite that everything went on. Isn't it funny that immediately after roleplay fully takes over everything all threads are now being removed? Much like they allowed that current tournament to finish off then banned any future tournaments because of the roleplay autism? Very funny...
Unless the character became more relevant this year (Jellystone character for example) then really any character that had under 30 votes last year for qualifying are a waste of time to nominate
>>437699 The tag tourney didn't even have any rp when it got banned. The ban clearly happened after fusefag made that one thread with the loli/shota incest op. Also you're wrong about when it started. fusefag wasn't even a thing at the beginning of the tournaments.
>>437703 Gatsky was there in 2018 but nobody knew for sure it was him yet. It only became obvious in 2019 when he started spamming porn instead and outright admitted he was spamming in Mr. /co/ 2018.
>>437705 From what I remember, people were suggesting other tournament ideas in 2018 and he started to suggest the Fusion tournament. Everybody told him it was a bad idea, but he kept on posting it and then other people started to make "desu"-style spam posts (but with the word "fuse" instead of desu). Honestly, it was most likely him posting that but I don't remember him posting any porn since the threads were slow. The OP/Cap situation took place at the end so that overshadowed it. His autism didn't get revealed until the next year right before the OP broke.
>>437675 Now the second half that occurred in the tournament. Like I said, while the cast of characters varies, it's overall extremely linear.
>All of them get brought to the realm of the tournament via the hosts portals shortly after the battle at the lake.
>Gertrude and Star plan to make their father proud, and he himself makes a statement urging everyone to vote for his daughters(who have done more to eradicate chaos then any of his lazy sons ever had) and threatens extreme torture to those who don't.
>Vriska has shown up with Rae, and threatens the Emperor, saying 'It would be a shame if bad things started happening to your daughters'. He completely dismisses her threats as propaganda.
>Gamma Rae is being her usual naive self, still convinced Vriska is a hero like her and that Gertrude and Star are big supervillains. She also keeps forgetting Vriska's name, which annoys her further.
>Still, Vriska maintains her promise to use her luck powers to keep Gamma Rae from accidentally killing her friends.
>Also Wilkins shows up to the tournament. He's just doing his usual shdict of maiming Wontkins for not drinking Wilkins and making an example of him. Nothing special, though Vriska likes his spunk.
>Steven meanwhile, who has apparently been dating Star for a while, attempts to break it off on account of her sadisitic tendancies. She gleefully proclaims that, unless she's forced to take him into the tournament with her, she'll dust him.
>Steven loses. Star uses her magic to dust the entire diamond gem species, killing White, Blue, and Yellow, and leaving Steven in a coma. Garnet is not happy.
>Due to a quirk of LUCK, however, these results were actually leaked earlier then they were supposed to, meaning R1 was delayed and everyone was stuck in limbo for a short while. Not only allowing Steven to get axed, but also alerting Vriska to the fact she was about to get kicked out of the tournament realm before she had a chance to kill her rivals. What could she do?
>Rae decides to just give up, she's becoming concerned about Vriska and wants to go home.
>Vriska however, is desperate. She needs to cut a deal with someone. She recalls the sadistic Wilkins, who liked to create the illusion that people who didn't drink Wilkins would suffer by creating traps for Wontkins. Maybe he'd like to be able to do that on a wider scale.
>She explains to him she could give him the ability to truly curse non-Wilkins drinkers, anywhere in the world, in exchange for him ensuring Star, Gertrude, and their father suffer a terrible fate.
>He agrees.
>The qualifer ends, and Vriska is cast out of the realm. But she has no intent on staying gone.
>Wilkins now has a trademark Scorpio on his chest, a sign of Vriska's power within him. He begins making larger threats then ever before, but he still isn't being taken that seriously.
>Wilkins MIGHT have been involved in the death of Mr. Stotch, rival coffee salesmen, but this is disputed.
>Wilkins DOES, however, manage to intimidate several of the villains, especially Eggman and King Koopa, who pledge to drink it as best they can. Even Belos is concerned about his power. He even eventually gets Koopa and Eggman to tell him the location where The God Emperor is overseeing his daughters preformance.
>SCAM INC attempts to get in on the Wilkins market, but he refuses, as Vriska's powers are making distrubution easy for him.
>Star distracts Garnet by blaming Eggman for Steven's death, but she finds out eventually it was Star.
>Gertrude is more concerned with the extremely angry Garnet out to kill her and Star for crippling Steven. Star let's Gertrude fight it out by saying it was Gertrude's idea, while she struggles to find both spells needed to put her down.
>Wilkins manages to impress Zone-Tan though, and even tosses her a small favor by killing Dave for her. It's implied she's getting the hots for him.
>Through this, he learns the God Emperors location.
>Star successfully dussts Garnet, and returns to the base only to find Gertrude and her Dad had suffered terrible accidents. She soon dies too of another terrible misfortune.
That's up to the end of R1. Star and Gertrude are out of the picture now. I'll do the rest of Wilkin's arc later, it gets crowded
>>437717 >Chel from The Road to El Dorado >Obscure anon. that girl has been in Elite Eight twice. there's no reason to call her Obscure. (BTW she can't join this year due to that)
>>437732 I don't know, doesn't /co/ like Peridot still? I know they are still mixed about Spinel (mostly leaning towards hate now) and are complete pedos for Connie.
>>437740 (While it's still technically correct, I'd probably bump Mao down a few tiers since a ton of bad drama hit Parker Simmons at a bad time. He's defintely not at the top of Purple tier anymore like he was after the leaks.)
Image:162980945535.png(5.48MB, 4493x2805)Tier List mr edition.png
here's my mr. /co/ 2021 (prediction) tier list. here's my thoughts
Probably Going to Win:
Courage - he lost both elders now. so he's my rooting choice this year.
Samurai Jack - obvious/predictable winner choice but maybe he'll win this year or not.
Elite 8:
Grim/Aku - /co/'s most wanted winner alongside Jack. and i can totally see why.
Carl Brutananadilewski - i really love this pissed off neighbor fat character but unfortunately he's hasn't been in Elite 8 before. hopefully he will get his lucky charm this year.
Dan - due to his Revival planning soon. i can see why anons want him to win. (even though i'm more on Courage)
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit - at first i wasn't interest voting him until the arc happen for him. now i'm interest but curious.
Bugs Bunny - i mean of course this troll cartoon bastard is gonna be in it again.
Could go far if things go well for them. (A.K.A Boys that has bad RNG):
Mao Mao - eh.. he's not enough for me to let him in Elite 8 but if he does because of his show's cancellation. i shouldn't be surprised by that.
Scooby Doo - he has a crossover movie with Courage and since Shaggy isn't allowed in this year. maybe Scooby should take his spotlight this year.
Mike Wazowski - loved Monsters Inc and University. and really enjoyed Monsters at Work TV Series. i can see why he's qualified.
Red Guy - one day, this red devil bastard is gonna be qualified this year.
The Ed Boys - if you thought Oswald had an curse for his qualified problem. then The Ed Boys also suffers with the curse for.. ..not make it to Elite 8. hopefully they're gonna lasted as long as Samurai Jack.
Master Shake - same reason as The Ed Boys but worse.
Master Splinter - least likely. shame because he's one of the coolest character in franchise history. hope he's gonna qualified. which wasn't the case for the turtles which i'll talk to later.
Saxton Hale - like Miss Pauling. i also didn't noticed that he came originally from /co/ (Comic) instead of /v/ until now.
Midtier at best:
Homer Simpson/Peter Griffin - Fox's most memorable/popular fat main characters of all time but both show's newer episodes kind of sucks. so i'm not sure if they're good enough for qualified and/or Elite 8.
Thomas The Tank Engine/Bob the Builder/Fireman Sam/Postman Pat - British's finest stop motion characters of all time besides Wallace and Gromit. but similar to Homer/Peter, not sure if they're popular enough to be qualified (maybe they will but still.)
Bob Belcher - never seen a single full episode of this show. maybe he could be funny but wasn't sure for voting him anytime soon.
Hank Hill - not sure if he'll ever gonna be in Elite 8 again. but one day he'll will or not..
Early Round Fodder:
The Turtles (Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo) - the less likely mr. co choice yet. it's a shame because i really love these Turtles. but since /co/ doesn't care for these four Turtles other than.. Girls. i feel lonely voting for these Turtle Power..
(no "Qualifier Spam" and "Never EVER Nominated" category due to i'm more familar with ms. co than that.)
>>437722 I think the first thread was actually on the 4th, but 4chan read it as the early early morning 5th due to timezone. And that was one week before last years tournament.
So rather then the 5th, it's actually the 3rd when we can safely start posting hype on the main board. Start with a "One week to go" thread
Also I should mention, mods were allowing "hype" threads at points in 2021 They ended and started removing them because an absolute faggot decided let's have three in a row after the previous two archived like it's a fucking general Why can't fucking sperges hold in their autism and realize they are the ones causing the most damage for the chances of the event happening
Hello! Excited to once again participate in another Ms /co/ tournament this year. All I did last year was voice an intro, and draw simple sketches of losers becoming Monarch henchmen. I want to do more though this year, and hope a comic character takes the crown finally
>>437752 We might be benign and quiet (when we're not being pelted by illegal spambots) but its still technically link-whoring to other imageboards in the eyes of moderation. Most of them probably have no idea what Plus4chan is, just see it as another random knockoff imageboard.
>>437762 >>437752 From what I've seen any discussion of the tournament gets nuked, which is also why linking to plus4chan got you banned... when plus4 is mentioned in stuff like the /coc/ threads, it's never a problem...
Wouldn't be surprised if at this point they'd nuke the entire tournament.
>>437762 This same discussion happened last year when "hype" threads were removed for an extended period. So really because janitors cannot discuss it we don't know if they are removing the tournament or just hype threads >>437764 If the tournament are nuked I'm pretty much going to try to stop going to /co/. Can't take something like this not being allowed but east vs west threads and twitter threads are allowed for 500 posts
In case the 4chan mods decide to nuke the entire tournament, would you like me to set up a board specifically for tournaments here? It would have larger bump limits (really the only reason this is limited is because at 500+ post threads, browsers start to lag really badly) and I could try to enable image duplicates there so the same image can be posted multiple times.
>>437769 A tournament board can work, especially if a lot happens that would clutter this board The main issue is, could these two tournaments even work on here? Tag-team worked because it always was informal. These tournaments are meant to see how /co/ feels about characters at that current moment, and don't work if you remove the intended audience via moving to another website If we have to we have to, but it won't be the same and I don't think we can "retire" winners off what 70 people off-site vote for
Your fortune: You will meet a dark handsome stranger
>>437777 The idea is to make a board that is more roleplay friendly, and indeed also that it does not clutter up the current +4 /co/. I only suggested holding the entire tournament here because we don't even know if the -4 mods will nuke it entirely or if they are just stingy with the hype threads - for the tag tournament they nuked everything. If they actually allow the tournament, then you could do something like having the tournament on regular /co/ and mention in the OP that roleplay goes to the plus4chan thread.
So it could be more like /rp/ than /cot/. Note: I can't come up with a better board name, so help me out there please.
Yeah moving it off board would basically make it pointless and it would just turn into a couple dozen weirdos RPing.
The mods removed hype threads last year until a week before the tournament, only removed the tag team tournament due to Fuse’s raid, and stats is still here. We’re fine. Don’t fear monger
>>437778 >The idea is to make a board that is more roleplay friendly Uh, literally every RPer, including the big ones, said that they'd lower the RP or even just stop altogether.
>>437778 Most of us don't want more RP though. I'm not sure what you know about the tournament, but Mr. /co/ 2021 and the Tag Team Tournament were ugly flukes that the vast vast majorty of people involved didn't like on that front.
>>437779 So this guy's concerns are pretty valid on that front.
Also yeah, I don't really see a point in doing it here if the jannies actually had the balls to try to ban it.When it's just a couple dozen people it's kinda lame. I'd rather if that happened we all rioted until things got fixed
>>437412 >F4G Put this in the context of Dan being unable to contact his supporters due to dealing with a bit of a 'pain in the ass' at the moment, but he sent a message to them remotely.
>>437810 >>437811 I guess I can say it here but I have the impression /co/ mods don't actually like being mods of /co/ and have no interest in comics or cartoons. I know it's dumb to have expectations of 4chan mods but it feels like a lot of other boards don't have with their mods that /co/ does.
Radio Anon. If you can hear me, is there any possibility of you doing a lead up radio a few days before the qualifiers to build hype? Discussing some of the likely candidates and possible FOTMS.
>>437834 Without communication we're in a bit of a "wait and see" situation. When time comes for the main tourneys and they go unmolested, but Tag Team gets pruned, then that's about as clear of an indication on what's allowed that we're probably going to get. It's also possible that the banishment of Tag Team was the beginning of a larger banishment of all tourneys. I wouldn't think so, but I also didn't think the Tag tourney would be an issue. We won't actually know anything until the time comes.
>>437834 My opinion is we should just skip 4chan entirely for tag-team and host it here to preserve the other two tournaments Reasons for that being: >Tournament was removed last time, so why risk it again? >Moderators don't like dealing with the excess tournament threads, so keeping it to a month of tournaments over 2 months is better then extending that into december >It isn't official like the other two >It can be done here because it has no specific board meaning, it's pairings of two characters who often aren't even canon pairings so it's not as much of a determination of what /co/ as a board is like that year like the other two are >The whole thing is set up for roleplay, which is a no no on /co/ >The admin here really wants a tournament on this site, and it can be a yearly thing here to drive interest and thank them for holding us when /co/ forces us out
>>437837 >The admin here really wants a tournament on this site It's not a question of whether I want to host it here or not, but whether you guys want to host it here or not, and if so, how to best accommodate the event on my part.
>>437810 >>437812 >>437813 How do we even know that rioting or reporting it to mods on /qa/ will even do anything? The mods didn't seem to give a shit about Tag Team threads being deleted when it got kicked. Though last I checked, the only thing I can remember of mods telling /co/ jannies to back off was when one janny who kept deleting Centaurworld posts and banned folks for making them got a thread about it on /qa/.
>>437860 There is no precident for Ms. or Mr. /co/ being banished, and there is precident for them deleting threads until 5-7 days before the tournament.
We try on the 3rd, and then on the 5th. If the thread on the 5th gets deleted, THEN we can panic
>>437860 >How do we know the main tourneys are even safe at all? Has anyone made a thread on the main site that hasn't been deleted? Yes. It got archived yesterday. >Also, Miss /co/ is next week, right? 11 days.
>>437879 >>437880 300 posts (for bumping) or 350 images (after that it blocks image posts). Pinned threads can take infinite posts/images but that requires manual micromanagement. This is also the reason why I'd opt for a separate board, so it is set up with limits more befitting the content.
>>437898 >Emmy The Robot facebookfags, obviously. >Peridot she's already in elite 8 in 2019. and didn't the SU hype just died after Future is done? >Charlie i never enjoyed Hazbin Hotel. that's why i ain't voting her. >Maggie (Amphibia) fucking who? >Loona while Helluva Boss is better than Hazbin Hotel. i ain't an furry guy so no. >Trap/Drag Boys i swear if Princess Marco make it past Quailfiers again then i'm losing my mind by my anger..
>>437898 >Maggie (Amphibia) If we were at s3 and she actually got an episode I could kind of understand but I'm so fucking sick of her. >Miss Heed (Villainous) I don't think she can qualify? I'm not sure, I guess Stats needs to update the rules on whether or not tik-toks and instagram roleplaying count. >Blind Girl and anyone from those comics I don't even know why it's allowed on /co/. >Charlie (Hazbin Hotel) I just don't like her, but I would vote for Loona, Millie or Verosika if they got in.
>>437916 Sorry I don't understand your question. All of Mr. /co/, including the nomination period, is in October. If you're asking for how nominations work, Stats (the guy who runs Ms. & Mr. /co/) will open them for 24 hours. You reply with a picture of your nominee, say their name and canon, and if you get enough replies in support they get added to the list of qualifiers.
Outside of FART who's got the best chance here? I'd say Velma. She's widely acknowledged yet flies under the spite radar and had 5th her last tournament.
Gertrude. There’s a large amount of support for a comic winner, but capeshit has spite votes. Emmy is the only other major comic (not cape shit) contender, but she had the rigging baggage
>>437933 Raven actually seems to beat Frankie in sex appeal based on the straw poll thread, and in a vacuum might beat her 1v1.
Problem is, Raven has some baggage for being mildly rigged for (though not nearly as bad as Emmy or Spinel, who she lost to) while Frankie is seen as the probable legitimate winner. Raven loses mid E8.
>>437934 I think you underestimate how many people think Frankie and Raven are the boring choices and will vote for someone else regardless to see what happens.
>>437935 Yeah I can see "taking out first seed" being a thing now after last year's tournaments. But Jack only lost by 1 vote even with all the complaining that Genndy was going to sweep the tournament (which is funny since I don't think any of his characters made it to the elite 8).
>>437936 I'll be honest. When it came to Jack vs Daffy i almost voted for Jack, but at the last second i remembered the anti Genndy posting and decided to vote Daffy.
>>437937 You could say the same for Frankie in semi’s. Raven vs. Frankie would’ve been a perfect finale, just like Jack vs. Bravo without the Captain America rigging.
Honestly I can see why people would find all this business obnoxious, though I do appreciate people coming together and creating original content beyond just the random posts.
>>437950 I've been meaning to conduct a study on what percentage of voters consider things like art, greentext output, and campaigning when voting, or if they just pick their favorite character.
I personally think 90-95% are the former, and MOST matches are pre-determined the second they happen. The only exceptions are very close matches within 30 votes, or exceptional circumstances where a meme gets big enough to up the percentage.
>>437951 It's two weeks (I think TTT might not be allowed back) out of the year. I think people just need to learn to not take it seriously and dip out early if they're really upset the character they were rooting for loses. You don't even need to hang out it in the threads, just check one a day, vote and then leave. And all mods have to do is say no rping/avatar usage and it'll die down.
>>437953 Discussion of characters has definitely swayed my vote. Particularly when I don't know who either character is in a matchup or don't feel strongly about either of them. Fan art has never made a difference to me. Generally the more entertaining and less annoying people are, the better their candidate comes off.
>>437962 Not him and IDK how Stats does it but I made the brackets for Mr. /co/ and Tag Team Tournament last year, and in a case like Raven's I'd pick her most popular look because it's familiar and easy to find which would probably be her Teen Titans design. Unless Stats specifically asked for me to use a comic look instead.
>>437965 It just depends. If you're interested in how a certain character will look on the bracket, I assume he'll keep it similar to the previous year's icons/poll. https://mrmsco.fandom.com/wiki/Character_Plate
>>437951 Shitposting and autism is part of the fun. There was a purity to the first year that's never been the same though. Each year it seems to become less a straightforward popularity contest and more a kind of world in itself, with all sorts of history and system gaming. It's still fun to me though, but maybe in a different way.
>>437969 That's a recent thing. Not even sure it'll come back. I don't think it changes much of the competition itself but it does kind of overshadow it.
>>437969 Large scale RPing only really occured in Mr. /co/ 2020 and Tag Tournament 2020, with small scale electioneering occuring for a few select characters in Ms. /co/ 2020 and Tag Tournament 2019.
The former will probably never happen again with the backlash, but the latter might become the new normal. Hard to say
Reminder they deleted threads at minimum 5 days from the tournament last year and that happened so don’t panic if they delete stuff Only panic if they delete the official threads twice
Omen Anon back at it again >Cute characters like Adorabat and Unikitty always die in first round because they are against some anime lady. >Eggman loses every single damn tournament he enters (See you in King /v/ or Mister /mlp/ whichever comes first) >Spinel put in a bad light because of her fandom later confirmed that the votes for Spinel were rigged. >Emmy and her fans assaulted by Peru Facebook page but thanks to the help of Basilanon we were able to help stop it. >Emmyfans take the cheating seriously and accept the loss/disqualification to make things fair. >Skyla assaulted by racist SJWs who claim she's racist. >Minnie Mouse not only lost the first round but also her voice actor. >Henchgwen misses her gets constantly >Vintage girls Curse >A grandmother from the "Chocolate" epusode of Spingebob was given a record for the lowest amount of votes given to any character. >First OP rigged Captain America to win the game, probably making it to where everyone will never vote for him again, second OP of Ms /co/ runs away due to stress. >the Snow Miser incident >DC character in every Top 8 >Kim Possible Eternal 4th. >DoucheyOP's Shitty Tourney. >Jucika Fans assaulted just for being friendly. >Pedo/Toph fags BTFO! >Yakuza Anon never Delivered. >Caberello Curse >Mao Mao Curse Mother Fucking Daffy! >Lost to Bender Meme (2018) >Lost to Joker Meme (2019) >Lost to One More Time (2020) >Screwed over for 2021 >Black Widow, Ramses, among other characters somehow ommited from Qualifiers. >Game characters getting boot off. >Tag Tourney gets cancelled due to Fuse showing his anus. >People creating Hype Threads way too soon jeopardizing both Miss and Mr /co/
>>437990 The tournaments itself never were the issue they had, it’s the autism around it and making it a general and all that stuff. Which is why these “hype” threads get removed The tournaments are well structured to on out exist a certain time and have an actual purpose of finding characters /co/ likes, which may allow them to happen. That’s what we need to see this year. I don’t think Tag-Team happened because it had no purpose (it allowed non-canon pairings) and was solely revived for roleplay
>>437993 This. None of the tournaments were founded like that.
Ms. /co/ 2018, Ms. /co/ 2019, Mr. /co/ 2020, and Mr. /co/ 2019, were all essentially RP free.
Tag Tournament 2019 and Ms. /co/ 2020 were both mostly RP free, but in the second half a small amount of mostly contained RP occured centered around the eventual winner (Sam and Max RP, Mrs. Monarch Posting)
Mr. /co/ 2020 and the Tag Tournament 2020 were both unhinged RP free for all from the start. Almost everyone has agreed this is a bad thing.
>>437995 >I don't understand why the mods didn't just say to stop rping in that case, because most everyone would've complied. And most everyone has complied since. Danon, Mao Manon, Chrisanon, both announcers, Ramsesanon, Simonfag regrets it heavily, Garfield Poster, Zone Tanon
>>437991 Explain what exactly is so wrong with having a general for 7 days before the tournament instead of 5 days. I'm sure there's at least one janny lurking here. I wish one would ocme out of hiding and explain this. Why is it okay for disney shows to have generals while their shows are airing for several months at a time, but when it's the one successful thing that users on this board have managed to create and come together as a community, we have to be extremely restricted. arbitrary rules with no purpose make people hate you.
i already set up my nominations for next week, as well as collecting pics from various girls. but for now. i'm starting binge watching Joe Pera Talks with You before the nomination thread starts.
>>437996 They're complying with the wishes of the other participants, not the mods or jannies, whose wishes are nebulous at best. We don't actually know if we're fixing the actual problem they have, or if they even had a real problem besides the very existence of the TT tourney. I still don't think it has anything to do with the RP, but toning it down is still good in general.
>>438002 I've been collecting nomination pics for both major competitions since last year. A lot of characters I know would lose to Raven but I'd like to see make the bracket and how they fare against other waifus. I expect to be unproductive for the entire week.
>>438005 From what i could tell the mods, or at least not all of them, don't have a problem with RP considering a mod actually contributed to the RP somewhat during the gay wedding.
We won't find out if Ms /co/ is banned until nomination day anyways, so we should calm ourselves by talking about something else in the meanwhile. I'll start:
What are you looking forward to in Ms /co/? For me it's drawing OC of my nominees.
>>438013 >For me it's drawing OC of my nominees. Mostly this. It get's pretty boring to participate in /co/ drawthreads that are just "draw X in Y outfit", "can I have a fusion of these characters?", "my waifu in this pose?". At least with Ms. /co/ you can have creative crossovers between matchups, a comic based on the event, drawing based on the vocaroos, prompts from various people, etc. Sometimes I wish I could just go back and draw the matchups in the previous tournaments but the event is only one week long and I can't draw high-quality stuff for nine days straight (and nine days straight again for Mr).
>>438019 All things considered they go fairly well. Naturally there are bumps along the way, but I would never expect something like this to go 100% smoothly. It's no more cursed than any other event that goes on anywhere else.
>>438035 If three amphibia girls are getting in it’s almost certainly going to be the three main. >>438036 Frankie, raven, azula. I’d include Toph but after last year i’m not sure. I’m pretty curious to see if her jobbing last year made her more low key and hence less spited or if she’s lost it for good.
Spicy question: how would ponies have done if they were allowed? And assuming no Spinel x10 rigging (which is possible). The tournaments started in 2018 by which point ponyfags were well on the downhill, but there's still a lot of them.
>>438042 Everyone would just only care for the guys tournament Ponies would be way too autistic, would make 3/4 of the finalists the top 3 seeds (which are all mlp characters), would lead to spinel-tier flamewars It's better that ironic joke of a show following is its separate thing
>>438047 Shego's part of the same highroller group from 2019 who are likely to come back, and will almost certainely outpreform atleast Toph. Not including her in the acronym is stupid.
Any particular reason why the janny is deleting every single mention of Ms/mrs/miss /co/ on random threads? It's not just the hype threads getting deleted.
>>438050 They just have a hateboner for it, and there's not a fucking lot regular users can do. It's part of the reason I don't go to 4chan anymore, moderation there is completely insane.
>>438053 It's really simple. You just stop. And that's it. What really helped me was when I realized that I could visit once a week and still see the exact same threads up as I last visited - while half the threads are the same "general" threads. There's something fun every so often, but they are too few and far between. Plus half the time I see an interesting thread, it gets deleted... or it has half its posts deleted by a janitor.
I predict this competition may end up similar to 2019 minus Spinel, just because people are still bitter about being robbed of a fair top 8. Can't really see a lot of potential wild cards on the scale of Venture Bros and Primal last year.
Maybe either Atom Eve, Mark's Mom, or Monster Girl since Invincible was a pretty big hit with the board.
>>438059 To be fair, that IS a bit off topic to discuss it there. Other passing mentions itt were allowed But yeah, if they delete it I'm going to weed myself off /co/ because there's no hope for anything enjoyable when things like east/west and the she-ra spammer are going to piss me off and actual engagement isn't allowed
>>438061 If the "but it devolves into shitflinging about shows and waifus" excuse is brought up by anyone for deletion of Ms /co/ content, it doesn't make sense because that's what both East vs West threads and Death Battle threads usually devolve into.
Tomorrow is 5 days, the absolute minimum of the dates. September 5th is when last years hype threads were allowed, and that was for a tournament held a day later then this year.
>>438068 >Shows fighting leads to discussion of the field. >Waifus fighting leads to shitflinging and needless drama. >For all that one guy keeps spamming "Reddit and Memey is better than Venture Bruhs", it's nowhere near the cancer of the >Chilean Facebook group that hijacked the poll for the past two Ms. /co/s, not to mention that this board has about 5 >Rei/Asuka pairings that never reach that level of havoc because people split their attention between them all. Well you got your answer.
>>Shows fighting leads to discussion of the field. No it doesn’t. The adult swim thread is completely fucking dead. I’ve had to give it the page 10 bump of life at least four times now.
>>438071 >not to mention that this board has about 5 Rei/Asuka pairings that never reach that level of havoc because people split their attention between them all. I’ve read this ten times and I still have no idea what this sentence even means.
>>438090 I THINK he's saying there's already lots of threads on /co/ where the argument is basically "my waifu is better than yours" and that Ms. /co/ makes those arguments worse because they're contained in one thread? But I think they're either exaggerating or just fucking lying. I can only think of Spinel vs. Connie threads (which are always made by the same anon) and Anne vs. Luz but even those arguments have died down.
>>438094 There’s so many reasons why that’s stupid if that is what he meant. But you are right. There are no rei/asuka equivalents on /co/. We’ve had threads discussing this and nobody could come up with any examples that even remotely came close. Star fire/Raven is probably the closest you’ll ever get and golly gee it’s almost like we have a rule in place that stops both of them from competing against each other this year. And if people want to fling shit over which waifu they like more than the other then I honestly can’t see why anyone cares. Just don’t click on the thread if it bothers you. Other people find it fun.
It's really going to be up to Stats, but IF (and only if) the proper tournament gets removed we have two choices 1. Host it here (likely with a new tournament board section so we don't clog p4c's /co/) and make the determination how official it is in relation to the others 2. Skip the tournaments for the year and come back 2022 Regardless, we would try the next year and every year after until it gets allowed, even if we have a new tourney host at some point. There is going to be a point where that one janitor is no longer going to be employed and it's going to be allowed again
Still suspect that fuse is the janny. The tag tournament was banned shortly after janny applications and fuse basically caused the flimsiest excuse (porn) to nuke it, and janny has been a total silent menace to tournaments since then.
>>438099 I don't think so. One one of the threads there was some of his posting (and it's very obvious when it's him, he does the same type of stuff everytime) and he wouldn't need to do that if he could just nuke the thread right away But you do have a good point that it could be one of the janitors who applied that year and is less then a year old simply not liking the tournament (or getting butthurt over a result that happened)
>>438098 I don't believe we should skip a tournament over this. I imagine participation would drop but this is the tournament the most people care about, so it's possible they'd follow it off-board or even off-site, if they can find it. I don't think rogue jannies should be able to cancel the whole thing for everyone though. Fuck those fags let's do it anyway.
But, we still have a few days until nominations. It looks dismal but maybe they're just really anal about the hype threads. It's best to take this one day at a time.
>>438099 >>438101 Counter theory. Stats or TourneyAnon (the guy who tried to host a tourney without knowing how a pastebin works) could be the new Janny.
Stats could be the Janny to try and preserve the integrity of the tournament.
Tourneyanon could still be salty over not hosting Queen /v/ because he wanted roleplaying. Tourneyanon could also be the idiot posting numerous Miss /co/ thread on /co/ proper as well.
>>438102 If we hold it here, we need to make sure everyone knows it's here, which would be difficult if 4chan bans every mention of it. But most content creators are on twitter so I guess you could mention it there?
I’m pretty sure it’ll be fine, they’ve deleted hype threads before not to mention the adult swim one is still active, they’re just trying to keep things on topic and one tourney at a time
>>438105 There might not need too, I highly doubt people will remember the TTT incident as that was a spinoff tourney and wasn’t official. I’d say we wait for the actual day the tournament starts or the remaining 72 hours prior to it’s start. Plus the adult swim tournament is active
>>438097 >>438095 Yeah. Bracketing ensures 9 times out of 10 actually autistic seething matchups like those never happen. Hence we generally invented our own tournament specific rivalrys like Mao Mao vs Dan or Secret Squirrel vs Danger Mouse or Amity vs Jackie or Jack vs Simon.
>>438116 It could, I have a feeling that if he starts deleting the main tournaments(keep in mind these events attract a shit ton of people who don’t regularly browse 4chan and see it as a yearly tradition in general) there’s gonna be a lot of upset and confused people to the point the board might not be usable that day, will most certainly be mentioned on other websites and sour /co/‘s moderation even further(to the point it might be enough that mods fire the janitor for such an incident)
Everyone take a deep breath, let the [as] tournament do its own thing, and we'll come back in a few days and see what the situation is There's a chance they won't delete the actual tournament threads but simply any of the "hype" threads
>>438116 One jannie with a problem is all it takes.
Homestuck is shadow banned due to one guy. The reason the Femboy Threads are allowed to stay up even when they break rules is because the mods really like traps
>>438124 iirc many of the hype threads did especially the ones where it was 2 weeks before the tourney started and people were upset about that too. Just wait until like Thursday or the day it starts
>>438123 janitors are also allowed to clear report queues, so it could be that a few janitors specifically keep alive rule breaking stuff they likes, while deleting what they don't like.
there was a janitor in the win-o thread who kept posting his own referrer links to everything, the posts stayed on despite being clearly rule breaking, and any mention of it got deleted from the thread by the janitor.
>>438123 >The reason the Femboy Threads are allowed to stay up even when they break rules is because the mods really like traps
For those threads in general there's a lot of favoritism in play. Ass threads and Trap threads get a shit load of leeway from the mods in general for stuff they really shouldn't. The booba threads are judged way harder and harsher, and the fat threads get pruned on sight even when they've done nothing wrong.
Janitor's can both keep stuff they like up and attack stuff they don't. Like Homestuck.
>>438165 >22 minutes, still up I'd say unless it lasts at least a couple hours, they just haven't gotten to it. Even then I've seen hype threads get pruned after being up all day.
>>438178 I still think it might be TourneyAnon who's doing this. Not Stats, TagTeam, or DoucheyOP in case anyone mentions it. Tourney Anon is someone completely different.
>>438178 It'll be gone, my predictions are 1. They'll allow threads like a day before 2. No threads instead of the actual tournament threads 3. Nuke the entire tournament and we'll be here
>>438193 I mean the jannie just wasn't around to catch it when it first went up, it's not like he was actually doing his job and monitoring the thread to make sure it wasn't unraveling (which it wasn't).
Hey Stats. If you're here, is there any chance you could make an OFFICIAL "Prediction" or "Pre-Nomination" thread, something to put up on the 9th a day before it properly starts? That way we can test if the jannies will target your official posts before we properly start?
Alrighty then because the last thread was up for almost 2 hours, I’m pretty sure the actual tournament will be fine, just don’t spam the hype threads or better yet wait either the day it starts or the day before
>>438205 Nah the second tournament was really good when there wasn’t role playing. Also mods in general don’t seem to mind, iirc they even stickied it one year
>>438200 My One True Pick is out until next year so this is the calmest I've ever been before a tournament. Of course if a compelling contender makes it far this year I'm going to get way too invested.
Do we have a time table on when the threads are getting deleted? If it's one janitor, then it can't be online 24/7, so posting the thread at a different time period would allow it to be up for longer (although potentially not get as much posts, but that may not be an issue).
If it gets deleted at any point of the day, then it's more moderators deleting it not just one faggot.
Since Black Hand stickied this and allowed Tag Team to be hosted here, then there NEEDs to be a /co/ contest related banner for plus4chan at some point.
Also, has anyone made a thread on /qa/ about Ms /co/ hype threads being deleted already? Not simply just mentioning it in the Happenings thread.
>>438220 >>438218 +4 needs more banners in general. There's a thread at /baw/ for submitting them, I think I posted the current site icon at the bottom. >>>/baw/391813
>Since Black Hand stickied this and allowed Tag Team to be hosted here I only set it to floating, cause we are way past the bump limit and I didn't want it to fall off the index. Floating threads don't have bump limits, but will still go down when other threads go up. It's just that it's by far the most popular thread so you'll almost always see it at the top.
Just in case we will hold it here, what do you want a tourney board to be called? Best I can come up with is "/cotn/ - /co/ Tournaments", I'm open to better suggestions.
>>438227 I don’t think you should make a tournament board until after we get confirmation that the janny’s gonna be a shithead and delete actual ms /co/ threads.
However, I don’t think the board should be specific to /co/ stuff only for threads.
Not to be harsh, but I don't wanna retreat here without a fight. I'd rather, if the rogue Jannie actually went through with it, we tried rioting on /co/ and /qa/ to get the mods to step in first. If that fails, then sure.
I stopped caring at this point lmao, we’ll have it here and we’ll have a good time If you think it’ll be too low vote count you don’t remember the comfy of the 2018 tournaments. We’ll get people over here like we did Tag Team
>>438239 Nah, chaotic can be fun. I want it on /co/, but if the janitor is so fucking stupid to allow a competing website get traffic because they can’t allow any community participation (which frankly should get them “fired” from their free service for being this much of a failure) then we’ll have fun here. He can have his east vs west and Wojak threads I don’t care anymore, we’ll be /comfy/ here and still get hundreds of voters
Reminder: 1. The Elite 8 is a stupid gay rule that was invented by asshurt retards in 2018 (The only really good year) that were mad that the best girls got high rankings. 2. The month old rule should be a year. If you were willing to send the top performers to the shadow relm (Elite 8) for a year, then you should be willing to send recent characters to wait as well, to see if they have legs.
>>438253 I get the principle but if the elite 8 rule weren't in place the tournaments would be a lot more boring cause of the same general characters getting to the same spots every year. A rule I think should be changed is the characters per show limit. It's in place as a variety concern but unlike the elite 8 rule it's not a matter of the same top spots, just kind of unfairly excluding certain qualifying characters cause they come from shows with other popular characters.
>>438254 That theory has never been tested, and how is the best girls fighting for supremacy more boring than /co/ntrarian/Meme picks vs Popular girls? The last two tournements have been worse than the original.
>>438254 Maggie and Maddie got in last year (from Amphibia) when they absolutely should not have. Maddie at least has a little more character now but Maggie is a fucking meme pick. The rule is there to stop characters like her from getting in.
>>438256 3 Elite 8's from 2020 were in the Elite 8 in 2018 so there's absolutely some precedence for needing the rule.
>>438260 >only 3 >in a competition where only 1 will win >In a competition where recency bias overtook longevity two years in a row since the competition got gimped by the Elite 8
There is no real precident. If there was, we would have gotten an Elite 8 from 2019 to win in 2020. That didn't happen.
>>438263 >In a competition where recency bias overtook longevity Just because it's an older cartoon character doesn't mean they deserve to win, but 3 out of 4 of the final 4 were characters from pre-2010 shows, and Jucika is from the 60s. /co/ still has a bias towards older shows, so I see nothing wrong with giving newer material a fair shot, considering the odds of one winning are astronomically low.
>>438260 That sounds like a very specific case and not what the rule's based on but it doesn't matter anyways. Sorry you got such a hateboner for Maggie but the contest doesn't really discriminate as to why someone's popular. If they can get the votes they're in.
>>438265 >That sounds like a very specific case and not what the rule's based on Yeah you're right, I jumped the gun there but I do think we still need a character limit rule of some kind.
I’d rather have one of the proven popular and loved characters win than some literally fucking who meme pick from a Disney channel show that just premiered last year. Same goes for spinel btw. People who are mad at the elite 8 for being popular need to get a life and get over it
>>438270 > than some literally fucking who meme pick from a Disney channel show that just premiered last year That's never going to happen though. The winners this year are going to be from the 2000s or before.
>>438271 I know it isn't, unless the people complaining about the elite 8 get their way. There are some anons who wish that characters would be forcibly retired after getting into the elite 8 too many times because it's "not fair" to characters who aren't given a "chance."
At that point nobody will give a shit even if your obscure waifu wins because all the actually good characters had to be disqualified just so your literalwho candidate could compete
>>438273 I'd think that if you are posting massive amounts of duplicate images, they'd be mostly reaction faces or so, not 10mbyte 3000x8000 PNG patreon image dumps.
Also, 3mb is the 4chan limit iirc, so it's not like it'd make a general difference.
>>438276 at least with the current rule the elite 8 get to come back. that's different from people who want to disqualify repeat elite 8 characters completely.
>>438277 That would never happen, at least, not run by stats. Also, there is no at least, further retardation doesn't make the original rule any less retarded.
>>438258 I think that's the opposite of what I'm saying. >>438267 >I do think we still need a character limit rule of some kind. Why? There's even less ground for it than the elite 8 rule. If a character is popular enough to qualify the top 128, regardless of show, they should get in. The essence of the tournaments has always been a popularity contest.
If you want to change the elite 8/series limits rule you can bring it up to Stats during the tournament and he'll make a poll asking if the rules should be changed at the end like he did last year, but I think every time it's been brought up people have voted to keep it. Personally I think the elite 8 rule is a good idea, but I would be open to the discussion of cutting it down to a smaller number. As far as character retirements go even though I do think there are some contestants doomed to always be an elite 8 but not a winner, a rule like that would just be unfair and unfun.
>>438283 >he'll make a poll asking if the rules should be changed at the end like he did last year, but I think every time it's been brought up people have voted to keep it. Are you talking about the google response form thing? I don't remember ever seeing results for those. I think most people wouldn't want to democratically change these things anyways. There's more concern for an 'interesting' contest and personal grievances than keeping the essence of a popularity contest. I believe 90% of the reason for making harsher series restrictions were because people were butthurt about SU characters one year for example.
Although the recent thread got deleted it did last for around 2 hours this time. Great sign, plus I saw some early speculation on what controversy this years tournament will be about this time. I’m not worried anymore because last year hype threads lasted around 2 hours as well. I’m already better on my queen of monsters mothra as ms /co/. I’ll see you on Friday
>>438288 >Although the recent thread got deleted it did last for around 2 hours this time. Great sign I don't know if length of time before deletion can be considered a positive metric, because it's still getting deleted which means the jannies still don't like the threads. We're still kind of in the dark and won't really know until nominations start, but really the jannies could decide to be cunts at any time.
I think the turnout this year is going to be absolutely massive.
Internal turnout will be the highest ever. Last year was the first year a lot of anons learned about the tournament, and the amount of hypthreads went from a handful to literally over 100 this year. EVERYONE knows when it's happening. Off-site last year lead to a spike in tournament tourism.
So I think we'll be seeing consistently above 750-800 votes per round
>>438293 Nothing, but if they're the only ones (You)ing them, they don't stand a chance in hell in the qualifier, makin it a pointless gesture. All it does is inflate the list of nominees to filter. The impact is more an inconvenience than anything.
>Random Monarch thread that had literally nothing to do with Ms /co/ got deleted because that "might be a connotation" Lmao get the tournament board ready this shit is not happening on /co/
>>438318 Then it wouldn't get the scorched earth treatment with a any single of it being deleted.
>>438319 The big reason why people become janitors nowadays is specifically so they can delete only what they don't like and clean any reports of threads they like. It's a power trip. Plus they have a quota of a sort, they can only stay as janitors as long as they actively delete enough posts (which is the metric for doing their job). Why else you think is there a janitor drive every half year now?
>>438320 Hence Homestuck and Tourny threads get purged, while Trap Threads and ass threads stay suspiciously untrimmed even when they do very not blue board stuff(especially Femboy friday)
I mean…that post screams stealth “The tournament will be fine, stop making hype threads every day though” especially considering today’s thread lasted over 3 hours, the longest any has in months.
Family thing came up. I won’t be able to attend the nominations round. Can someone make sure all the major Dan Vs girls get posted. Elise, Hortence, Elise Senior, probably Dan’s Demon Boss. I’m hoping at least one can get in.
>>438339 >>438340 It's /qa/, it literally serves no purpose since mods have shown time and time again they can't be assed to do anything most of the time. I just can't believe we can get a mod to show up in Amphibia and TOH threads to banish them to /trash/ but we can't even get a yes or no on the question of whether or not the tournaments will be allowed.
>>438346 Then they should say it themselves. If they can show up to kick shows off of boards, they can say the tournaments which have been going since 2018 are no longer allowed because of reasons they refuse to give.
>>438339 /qa/ is an utter shitshow. Somehow it's even more off-topic than the off-topic board. I'd be surprised if mods even look at that mess except to ban global rule breakers.
>>438348 I've got nothing against Amphibia and TOH or the mods wanting to prevent ongoing generals, I just want to know why they can't be bothered to fucking say something in this case.
>>438346 Then what's preventing them from saying it?
Also, we don't know if it's a full mod thing or just one janny being assmad about the tournament. Reminder that /mlp/ and /v/ have their own Ms and Mr tournaments.
>>438352 I just wasn't trying to frame the mods showing up to temporarily banish those threads as some sort of special treatment. I mean they're actually paying attention to the board, so they can't pretend they don't know what's going on.
>>438353 /qa/ is just there so hiro can say they have feedback, when in fact there's none. There used to be an actual working feedback form, that got public replies, but it stopped updating after hiro took over and was quietly removed a few years later.
>>438355 If the mods are clearly paying attention to the board, and are only deigning to show up and communicate with specific groups of people, then that is technically special treatment
>>438359 I think people are so against the idea because they're afraid it'll be easier to rig, but I honestly don't see much of a difference in tastes between here and /co/, there just might be less participation overall. Plus, if we had a tournament board we could do ones like "best villain" or "best canon couples".
>>438360 >>438359 It's a /co/ board tradition. It's not the same here. Also, that's exactly what Fuse wanted to happen, and he's mocking us as we speak. I'm not giving him the satisfaction
>>438362 If the tournaments are banned the next best thing would be to make them flourish in a place Fuse refuses to step foot in. >It's a /co/ board tradition. It's not the same here. I would say if Stats isn't willing to bring it here, then let it die. But I don't see the harm in trying.
>>438362 I think fusefag and his opinions can be completely discarded as we assess the situation and decide on the best course of action. I have no interest whatsoever in spiting fusefag. Preferably he'd fuck off forever but we really hurt his fee fees or something so he's simply going to be a recurring threat until he gets bored or committed.
Running the tourney on our home board is the priority and we should exhaust our options there, but +4 is not a terrible alternative. The fusefag is actually scared of this place now, plus Black Hand actually gives a shit, communicates with us, and is even willing to change the very site itself to accommodate us. We'd be going from red headed stepchild to red carpet in comparison. There are pros and cons for each option, but least important of all is what fusefag thinks about anything.
>>438365 > I have no interest whatsoever in spiting fusefag. This, my only concern with a move is this should've been discussed weeks ago, but Stats stays MIA until the day of. If he wants to retire, then we have the issue of should we continue and who should take over and the possibility they might fuck with the rules.
>>438364 I don't think we've even heard from Stats Anon on 4chan since the final Mr /co/ thread of 2020. Though I believe he's updated the /co/lympus paste bin and has given mention to Tag Team on +4chan, so I'm pretty sure he at least knows this place exists.
>>438374 Anon I'm sorry but these comments feel like bait. The past week has been "thread the jannie hasn't seen because they're not there is up for an hour, I think we're safe" just for them to be promptly deleted five minutes later.
>>438374 Stop posting about the threads here. The janitor has had this thread open in another tab for several weeks now (despite not allowing us to post links to +4c on the main site)
Honestly i don't mind at this point if it moves here (at least for this year). It's comfier, more accommodating, less newfags. The big issue is symbolic (it's not the original /co/).
>>438399 he meant there are no miss /co/ threads in the catalog right now. i repeat, there are no miss /co/ threads in the catalog at this moment. don't bother checking, i wouldn't say it if it weren't true.
The mods are banned someone for announcing a report in the miss /co/ thread, but the thread itself is still up. I guess this means we officially have the greenlight
Image:163122621750.png(236kB, 748x362)Screen Shot 2021-09-09 at 5.21.12 PM.png
Stop making multiple threads about this on the main site, guys. The coast looks like its clear now, but if you get too cocky you're just handing ammunition for the janitors to delete the threads.
Regardless I don't really care about the hype threads at this point. I just want the OFFICIAL Ms and Mr /co/ threads to go untouched and that's it. And at least one 4chan message from Stats Anon before he gets started would be nice too.
>>438428 I appreciate your optimism but there's not much to work with here. A deletion of a mostly on-topic hype thread is a fail anytime it happens. There's no partial credit for this. Either they're allowed or they're not. If a few bad actors can ruin the whole thing for everyone, that's a problem. And this happening so close to the set competition date doesn't bode well at all.
We should move ahead with Plan A, but seriously consider our Plan B, because the signs we've been getting are pointing towards needing it.
>>438432 Again, that doesn't bode well. The proper course of action would be to delete the spam and leave the main thread alone. Throwing out the baby with the bathwater is not what I'd call a good sign. The precedent here is that all you need to do to kill the threads and possibly the tournament is garden-variety shitposting under the guise of legitimate participation. There are lots of random faggots who would like to kill tourney. This is their ammunition, but it only works when the jannies are complicit, which they have proven to be so far.
>>438438 Jury's still out on that one but that's a popular theory. Of course fusefag has no power in a properly moderated environment, which is why he won't set foot here.
>While that Cirno thread, the Kingdom Hearts thread and other /v/ and /tv/ shit still remains despite that they're the ones actually off topic
This janny has already proven that he's garbage at handling the board, but Jesus fuck. You people better dogpile him rather than fleeing to plus4chan at first sight, should he dare to delete the official threads tomorrow.
Remember, if it gets nuked it's on you. Not anyone else. That you had to force roleplay to dominate everything, that you kept spamming threads when we told you to calm down (bonus points to the fag who wanted to make it a general awhile back, before then we were allowed threads), to people who are now trying to antagonize jantiors like that jenny thread It's all on you if we're forced to have it hosted here
>>438462 Way to put the blame on anons that didn’t even do anything.
Not to say all anons are blameless here, but it’s mainly the janitor’s fault for deleting the hype threads AND mentions of the tournament despite the latter being allowed before. People mostly wouldn’t be acting like this if he wasn’t being a shitbag, especially on the day before the tourney actually starts.
>>438465 TagTeamAnon has experience with hosting it so he seems like a good backup option. I don't know if he's here either since he isn't that active.
>>438464 If you didn't start engaging in fucking bueno ass roleplay and could hold yourself to not makes threads on this thing 24/7 we wouldn't have had threads removed and would be looking forward to this on /co/ tomorrow instead of knowing it's getting deleted >>438466 It's not? I'm just pissed at you all for ruining the one good /co/ event because you couldn't contain your autism
>>438469 No I don't, I'm telling you why this thing I wanted to happen isn't anymore and it's making me pissed >>438470 >Last tournament allowed was the one that devolved into simon wedding roleplay bullshit >Suddenly tournaments are no longer allowed >"Why did this happen?"
Also are you seriously trying to act like the janitor is 100% blameless here? Especially since he's been allowing East Vs West shitflinging, Death Battle threads, and at this moment, two video game-related threads that have little to nothing to do with /co/?
>>438471 For the last time, you mongoloid, the tag tournament got deleted when fuse made a dupe porn thread. There was never anything indicating it was rp. No one was even rping at the time.
Honestly at this rate I wouldn't mind if Black Hand created that Tournament board right away before tomorrow 6 EST. Just in case we need an instant back up.
>>438499 Maybe they were sleeping? Who knows, morale is pretty low this is happening there but we'll see. Either way the board for it is set up now (though images aren't loading) so we'd be able to do it there anyway
>>438509 I unironically considered doing it once to clean up shit like east vs west and borderline porn threads but yeah I remembered "for free" and also 4chan isn't a website worth fighting for.
>>438523 I feel like there should be a hype thread for Ms. /co/ that also includes rules and other required reading in the OP for newfags, but it's probably too close to competition time for that. Newfags probably wouldn't even read it. They never read it.
>>438523 Well I was thinking of making a thread to gauge interest for a villains tournament, but that's going to depend on how Ms. /co/ unfolds I guess. I doubt mods are going to let a 4th tournament onto /co/.
>>438508 I was planning on making it *public* public once the tournament started, if for no other reason than to iron out bugs. It took me hours just to get it to show up right since I never tested the current renderer with new/empty boards... things like catalog returning an error, pagination allowing you to go to page -2, etc.
>>438514 I was thinking of /pit/ or /vs/ or /arena/ but I didn't want to imply that the board is for death battle threads. /tnt/ was indeed the most explosive sounding name, but it's also a reference to championships, arenas, and /co/ all at the same time - I wonder if anyone gets it?
>>438515 Because I split thumbs to a separate folder some time ago and the board creation script was not updated to create new folders. So when you made a post, the thumbnail creator failed because it didn't find the directory to put images to.
>>438523 >>438524 The board is set up for very large threads (cap is 1000 posts/images). Personally I dislike this because rendering so many posts puts large strain on the browser. But experience with the last tournament says that larger threads are more common. If people complain I'll set it to 500/500.
With that said you make as many threads as you can have fun with.
>>438532 The board can't re-generate thumbs so I had to fix them all manually. Everything shows up fine on my end now.
>>438547 Unfortunately, I think so. The janitors have been unusually hostile towards the tournament for the last month at least. Much more so than last year; I think one of the janitors is one of the repeat shitposters or is someone legitimately mentally ill that has a waifu that never gets nominated or in high tiers.
If the Round 1 thread gets deleted, it's going to derail the entire tournament; people will be completely turned off from the whole thing. After all, why bother voting when the thread is going to be deleted on a whim by an autist with a whiff of authority?
>>438548 >>438550 Remember: If the mod or janitor takes the official nomination thread down, fight back by making threads calling out the shitty, hypocritical moderation AND providing links to /tnt/ on Plus4chan.
Also I think Stats may know about plus 4chan already but I'm not sure.
>>438548 The tourney is more mobile than you think. The only thing keeping it on /co/ is us being attached to that shithole for whatever reason. Everything about it can be picked up and moved. The hardest part of picking up and moving, a place for discussion, has already been figured out. I think some people who are inclined to just bend over and surrender think all the participants will be that way, but a lot of people have been looking forward to this all year. I don't think everyone will accept being blue balled by jannies quietly.
>>438556 Not him but then what do you suggest we do? Because just letting the tournaments die like a wet fart isn't how a lot of people want this to end.
>>438554 >AND providing links to /tnt/ on Plus4chan. If you keep spamming the plus4chan links, they'll put the site link into a blacklist so it cannot be posted, it happens with any alternate imageboard that gets posted. Try linking to something neutral like a wikia (which has links to here).
>>438556 It's the same people. You're talking to the same people you're talking to there. You might even recognize a few by the way they post. You're fixated on /co/ the web address, but /co/ is in your heart, or some shit.
Really if they delete the official the answer is to pester the mods on irc or other ways until they give an actual ruling. That's what happened with stuff like 4cc, nipples on /a/, rp threads on /mlp/ etc.
>>438571 I don't know That's what makes it scary because the mod had a perfect opportunity to say something but instead sent to trash which isn't saying anything on the tournament as a whole
I don't really understand why they have such a problem with a simple tournament on /co/, but I don't go there in the first place. As long as I get my King/Queen of /v/, hopefully someone replaces the last guy who ran it.
>>438552 With Ms. /co/ it's actually over 8x the participants. And although TT2020 tapered off in participants over time, the same number of people participated at the beginning of it as at the end of TT2019, about 100, so the move itself didn't necessarily drop the numbers. I don't expect everyone to follow Ms. /co/ over here if it comes to that, but I expect at least Ms. /co/ 2018 numbers. I don't know how prepared this site is for that magnitude of autism, but we could be finding out shortly.
>>438578 It's best not to question the minds of people who would willfully spend hours moderating an anonymous imageboard for no monetary compensation.
>>438587 >>438588 >>438590 >>438591 Oh yeah you guys are new to /trash/ There is no archive on /trash/. Once a thread is bumped off the board it's deleted instead of there being an archive. That happens to every thread
>Imagine being too autistic for /co/ >Hype threads deleted on sight >Janny death squads do it for free >Let my people post! >Plus4chan bunker >Rulesfagging has already begun >Blaming Simonfag >The ghost of Fuse cackles >Banished to /trash/ >Even King and Queen /v/ is having trouble >The moment of truth, will we be banned?
>>438621 Nah you're good stats. If they won't even allow nominations then there's no placating them. It's not like it's gonna get any more allowed by just giving up.
Reminder, /co/ janitors just proved that YOU have the power if you have proxies/bots to remove any thread on the board Tomorrow, when off-topic Toonami General is up? Spam 150 duplicate Toonami General threads at the same time so the whole board is just that. Do it every week until the general is removed. You have the power to do this now
>>438628 I don't know how everyone else feels, but the message is pretty clear to me. The mods are the most tremendous fags and there's no way we're sneaking this past them or overpowering them. It's up to you what to do stats. Personally /co/ can burn for all I care. I hope somebody gives them some actual work to do.
Remember to post elsewhere on other boards of the site too, not just /tnt/. We have a chance of actually making this website a liveable habitat to escape modern 4chan.
>>438678 I just did it again. There's no guilt on my conciense since there's a good chance that these threads are likely being made by Fusefag, but it's still weird as fuck that I'm able to do this.
