Because they showed up and filled the hell out of the board with their rapidly used up general threads, to the point they had to be split off into their own thing (Happened with the sonic posters too).

Browse back the catalogue here and you'll see the remains that lead to that point.
Plus4chan is a sedate website where no thread is ever deleted, can't really handle that sort of thing without getting crowded out.
