>Tom King on the difference of writing Clark and Kara and how Steve Orlando helped him.
>He admits he felt "kind of stuck" when he was working on Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow, because he wasn't sure what made her cool. He called Steve Orlando and Orlando gave King the elements that make Supergirl a badass: that she saw her whole planet explode as a teenage. "Trauma, that's my genre!" says Tom King, "It's what I do!" >"She's a little more cynical, she's a little more world weary,". Steve opened all the doors to what became Woman of Tomorrow. So let's all thank Steve Orlando Source: https://www.thepopverse.com/comics-dc-superman-celebrate-c2e2-2025-liveblog
I know the answer is "nepotism" but I seriously do not understand how this man has a job, let alone has several reddit subs glazing his asshole. Even the ending of Woman of Tomorrow is "ehhh, that guy who genocided several planets she was chasing? Yeah we just threw him in the phantom zone off and he spent several lifetimes in there all offscreen and now he's a good boy there's your True Grit resolution :^)" I feel like I am going insane.
>>476275 I'm no fan of King's either, but the man keeps getting hired for the simple reason that he's a professional: he knows how to write, turns in his work on time, gives his fans what they need and keeps his nose clean.
>>476283 >Just because you don’t like him doesn’t mean you can deny the basic facts that other people do enjoy his work and he does sell comics.
This is precisely the point, it's insanity that people buy his comics, that people defend his complete slop rigorously online. Yes, there are stupid people out there, and a lot of stupid comic book fans, we only need to look at how Brian Michael Bendis used to be a "hot ticket" writer that moved books to figure that out. >>474075 should have ended his professional career, and instead they awarded him with an EISNER. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!
