>4chan is kill due to PDF exploit If 4chan doesn't come back, what's next for us, /co/mrades? Even if it does come back, they're really gonna need to get the site's infrastructure up to date if they want to prevent getting shartied again. Also, Owl House thread, and Boscha loves stawberry milk
>>474074 You mean 8Horns. Reportedly his IRL job is with a defense contractor and he makes good money so he can afford to pay for art commissions any time he wants.
>>474158 What's good, Birchy? >You gotta understand what happened is that the source code got leaked too some fucking how Honestly, I'm not really sure the source code being leaked is that big of a deal. What's more is that a bunch of jannies got doxed and they were able to access admin level on the site. To me it's not even really clear what's going on behind the scenes, if Hiro still has some control or if sharty has full control. If the second is true no telling how long 4chan will be down
>>474063 The site went down just as I was going to make a thread about Jack Nicklaus Golf and be like "uggh, the horror of seeing giant stacks of these at flea markets."
>>474158 source code really isn't that big of a deal. just lets someone make a clone if they wanted to and with how outdated 4chan was that would be dumb.
It's not overly devastating because I'm not a faggot, but there are some threads I'd like to post and get 4, 5 replies tops. For example, did you know Melissa Joan Hart follows 4chan?
>>474437 More noteworthy people then you might think probably use 4chan. It being seriously down like this for a maybe long period of time is a pretty big deal.
I really miss tohg. All week long the only thing I've had at my disposal is Facebook and there's nothing but capeshit ragebait and misinformation all day long. I'm gonna blow my fucking brains out if I have to see another retarded Snyderfag pisssing his thirld world self over David Corenswet in my feed. >>477493 Oh yeah I'm also interested in this
>>476101 Highly doubt Hiromoot would sue Sharty, though he should. But the identities of the people who committed the hack seems to still be unknown, and realistically suing an anonymous individual across borders is difficult, also given legal fees. Even if he did sue, I still wouldn't come back to 4chan, since Hiromoot clearly doesn't care about the security or moderation of the site. Fuck tranny jannies and fraud mods
>>477344 >>477477 >>477487 >>477514 >>477505 >>477541 >>477584 >>477627 Guys, 4chan wasn’t perfect and is in fact even worse than I thought but I’m honestly not ready to let go yet I think. /tohg/ along with other places I frequented just can’t be replaced because of how fragile and small some of them were. Even if it does come back at this point it feels like some of them are gone forever. I’m pretty sure there’s like 3 of us here even. I don’t know, it’s too big a change to make after we had settled so comfortably into our groove.
>>477686 Yeah he can’t actually prove it was them behind it, and we already have reason to believe that the actual hacker wasn’t actually with /qa/the sharty but likely a disgruntled /jp/ oldfag who thought it would be funny to cause the shitflinging between them. That said yeah I doubt they’re going to learn anything from this and we’ll likely be back to the status quo if it goes back up at all.
>>477698 I think that's the thing that gets me the most. It's not exactly the site as a whole that I miss but the small groups we built inside it. Our little communities here and there. Maybe more of us should have tried to have our groups go off site and internal but it also sort of defeats the beauty of being anonymous and being able to come and go as you pleased which I think was something some anons really liked and kept them posting. It's sad to see it go down like this. I don't imagine it will be for too long but it still sucks.
>>477698 I think you should be a bit more hopeful, it's bad for /tohg/bros and other small internet groups who met on 4chan in the short term but 4chan was genuinely a horrid site with a hostile moderation team (especially towards us). I think if we should stay strong and encourage other /co/ enjoyers to come here. And it's hard to replace something we had, but we can definitely try to create something new and better. Unironically now is the time, I'll be putting all my chips on this site for as long as 4cucks is down
>>477690 Do you think Sharty was behind the 700th outcome? Also I just find it curious how most of the generals I frequented reached peak toxic shittines during the last days before the haxk
>>477702 Pretty much, it sucks but the fact that it’s the same situation across all of the places I visit means it’s the same deal, everyone knew it kind of defeated the point if we got too personal but then stuff like this happens and you kind of wish we did it anyway. That said I won’t hold my breath, we have pretty much zero word on when the site is coming back up and that seems to corroborate the idea that having to rewrite the source code is going to take a long ass time, assuming they even bother themselves with the effort. >>477707 True enough, there’s definitely potential here, and I’m not saying you or anyone else should necessarily go crawling back there, but it’s still something I foresee stinging for a while, like I said, the sudden change is going to take getting used to.
>>477849 I don't know computer stuff, but others have said that 4chan is a really simple site. So its source code leaking isnt a *super* big deal. The actual problem is the doxxing. It really depends on if the mods want to continue despite the danger that poses
>>477910 I'm a dick for Amity so get me in her [spoiler]Real talk, this is just banting. I would never say anything to purposely offend Carl since he's a real one
>>477698 >I’m pretty sure there’s like 3 of us here even.
This is the problem every time a community tries to move to a different place. At least half the members won't tag along. This also happened when generals moved from /co/ to /trash/.
>>477933 I know our low posters was a joke thing but I’m pretty sure there was like 10 - 15 of us at least, though of course I’m not sure how many we have here posting from this board. Regardless, certain posters like the “be like” guy or Cinna missing means it doesn’t feel the same sadly
>>478005 >“be like” guy I always felt like my posts were an annoyance of sort but I'm glad they meant something. Anyway, I'm just holding back my usual posts until there's more of us around
I honestly am surprised there even is a way for me to make this post again after how shitcanned this site was ravaged by being hacked and jannies doxxed. But it does feel nice to see another Owl thread after everything was shut down.
Hey everyone. I guess you can take the 4chan away from tohgsisters, but you can't take the tohgsisters away from other tohgsisters.
>>477708 Hey, Super here. Smoke let me know of this refuge. I didn't have much expectation to come back if the site isn't fully restored, but I'll likely just lurk until things ever go back to normal. Feels alien being here like this for some reason. I'm likely just missing 4chan X and how comforting my set up was like.
>>477727 >8chan Well well well, look who came crawling back (me). Just like the days of moving out from /sthg/ to 8chan until that site too was shitcanned because of some bs (can't remember was it a leak like 4chan or because of illegal shit happening), I'm going back there because of the sudden and unexpected death of /tohg/. History really is a circle after all.
Maybe I'll post there more than here if more tohg users go there. At least you wouldn't feel like a commie posting here thanks to this silly background.

>>478054 I'm operating under the assumption that this site is all that we'll have. So I'm putting a little extra work and drawing to help make this place more worthwhile.
The more lively it gets, the more likely we'll get something like 4chanX.
>>478055 >Hey Super, I thought you were already here. Nope, just showed up after dealing with dinner preparations for today after reading Smoke's message on bsky. I don't have Cinna's handle unfortunately but if I can recall Shup's I could let her know.
I'll check out 8chan since I'll likely have better luck posting there from past experience.
>>478058 >>478062 So far I'm liking 8chan better than this because of functionality reasons and custom settings. My only gripe is the faulty captchas. The only thing I like from plus is how it showcases replies but the messy timestamps and the music and videos you can't mute away is annoyinh me quite a bit.
>>478059 >>478068 Yeah it's rather bittersweet. Parts are ok, others not so much You can mute a tab by rightclicking it at the top of your browser and set it to mute, but I'm not sure if that's universal, I'm using Edge so yeah.
Anyways, I'm out for today, got too much to do right now to talk long. Just glad to see you guys are doing ok and making the best out of the situation brought onto us. May toghsisters live on alongside this fandom.
>>477690 >>477709 I don't know who that was, but I knew after the site died he must of felt so damn high and mighty doing that shit before the site nuked itself. But fans will stay fans no matter who comes around to shit on people's parade.
>>478058 >>478068 Yeah the music is annoying and the videos that play every time you have to reply are sucky. If we’re going to move let’s keep a word out just in case
It's very weird seeing a catalog of ~30 pages for ~10 or so threads for them. It's like, or at least feels like, 4chan but 3 times the size but with like 20x the redundancy. Kinda not sure how to take it, but it feels kinda cluttered for me atm.
>>478119 Kinda agree. A lot of these altchans have a bloat issue and u think it's advisable for this site to downsize a lot of its boards to concentrate activity to a few specific boards, shrink the catalog, and focus primarily on the /co/ aspect. IDK if the owner would do that since I understand this site existed far before I even started browsing chans but I think in this climate he should really attempt to steal as many /co/ people as he can.
>>478392 >Looks like the background and music are gone. Thank god for that. Site became a bit more useful. Too bad there's no auto thread updater to my knowledge
>>478613 I have a 10 year old MacBook Pro with an outdated OS (Mojave) and yet apparently I am able to run the Red Alert theme better than most PC users. Some "master race" indeed.
It got so bad I'd have to switch away to another tab to load pages. And I never even played C&C anyway so it's not like that theme was amusing or nostalgic to me.
>>478985 ah yes, Red Alert. game totally belongs to that '90s interlude when they were still making the Russians Villain #1 despite USSR being dead and buried because they didn't have any other real antagonists; I mean 9/11 was still a few years away.
>>478720 By the time it's back up it should be about the third week of May and by then my home ISP should be near to being unbanned since it was banned for 90 days on February 26 for somehow being mistaken for a proxy. I am still pissed about that.
>>478771 You think that’s bad, just wait until we see the new brilliant security features they’re going to come up with to ‘stop’ this from happening again. >>478994 Sounds like wishful thinking. I wouldn’t be surprised if they indefinitely extend all the crazy long bans like those out of suspicion and paranoia.
Not going to lie I was warming up to the annoying messages that would play when you opened the reply field. Also we should probably make a final decision and switch completely to one site instead of halving activity like this.
>>479016 I don't think theres anyway to make a "final decision" on the matter. People will either come here naturally or not (I'd reckon the 8channers simply dont know about it)
>>479016 >Also we should probably make a final decision and switch completely to one site instead of halving activity like this. This is such a strange thing to say. Do you think you are going to convene a council and make a decision and everyone will abide by it? People will post at the places they like naturally. If you don't like posting at a place... just don't go there. There's no legally binding agreement that is going to make all of the traffic go to a particular website.
>>479011 >Sounds like wishful thinking. I wouldn’t be surprised if they indefinitely extend all the crazy long bans like those out of suspicion and paranoia. That 90 day proxy/VPN ban is automated, it's not manually done by the mods.
>>479029 Yeah we’re already too splintered pretty much with several of our regulars apparently lost or not really caring that much so I guess it doesn’t really matter >>479033 It’s not “strange”, and I never said anything of the sort, stop feeling so attacked, I’m specifically talking about the group of 4chan people who are now conglomerating here, but I just realized this isn’t even an official thread for that now dead general so I guess we’ll just be doing whatever
>>479045 Sure, but I’d be surprised if they don’t have records of all that stuff regardless and just chalk up that whoever got with it probably deserved it.
You know, I’d have a way easier time transitioning to these billion other altchans if they weren’t all universally janky shit that can’t go one hour with shitting itself. This is probably the most stable one I’ve come across yet.
Hey everyone. >>478765 Still trying to figure out if I want these two shipped despite B*ringMark coining it first or should it be Viney with Emira, who Garth2 coined first.
I just can't decide with these characters right now, but I want to work with them more and need a pairing to do so.
>>479055 Seems like 8chan shat itself after already being hella slow that I remember it.
I'd like this place as much as I did 4chan if it was more visually appealing. Even with the other themes I feel like I'm on some kind of "bizarro" 4chan instead of 4chan. Plus I am completely terrified to even dare look at any other thread on this site because it's like 200 threads up at one time, and unlike 4chan, bumping doesn't seem to even exist.
>>479063 The catalog loads fine for me, finding other threads is just as easy as it was on 4chan. It's more like a stasis chamber than anything I think.
>>479063 >more visually appealing Try the Heroes theme.
>I feel like I'm on some kind of "bizarro" 4chan instead of 4chan. You are.
>unlike 4chan, bumping doesn't seem to even exist. It exists, it's just that we have so many people posting in the same threads that they reach the bump limits very fast.
>>479067 What is bump limit anyway? Every alt I’ve been on is extremely confusing in that regard and they all seem to have catalogues and shit that work differently.
>>479067 >>479145 >>479148 I should have clarified, I mean when a thread doesn't get a post for too long as other active threads bumps inactive threads down to page 10 (or in this case, page 30)
>>479202 God knows. There's threads here several years old and there isn't really an archive of deleted threads like there was for /co/ that we can check and dig through to get an idea.
>>479986 Plus4chan has gone through at least two major overhauls with this being the third major iteration of the website. Threads from the previous two iterations are found in an archive on this site. I don't think this current version of plus4chan has ever had a thread be pushed off of a board due to new threads being made since there have never been enough threads on any given board to reach the end of the page count.
>>480672 >this being the third major iteration of the website
Fourth, but I made this version to work with the old database to make it a seamless transition without losing all old threads.
There was only one huge bug, the post count jumped to the same value on all boards for a short while. I've been meaning to make a recount ever since, but I worry that it would break all the post backlinks or generate too many 404 errors.
>>480801 I always feel like whenever I read people complain about what a show did or what they were expecting said show to have done instead of what it did, I wish they were creative enough to provide their take on a "better" execution of said show. But we all know it's easier to say shit than to draw shit these days.
>>480850 >>480856 Realistically, what would 4chan even look like after the hack? Also, a week seems too short of a time to update serious security vulnerabilities. I hope they didnt just patch the single explot that killed them while keeping the other shit people hate... if the site controls worse than it was and if im still banned idk, might just stopnusing that site completely for one of these. Or maybe ill join the sharty to raid 4chan from within. I seriously hope they spent this week and a half actually doing something instead of having a massive janny oegy
>>480976 Apparently everything is more or less the same, but it’s looking like /f/ will be removed for security reasons, though that could be fake, there’s also something about a read only version being put back up for now but again could be fake, it’s hard to say what’ll change but it’s definitely returning so we’ll find out pretty soon I guess
>>480850 >>480856 This, do you expect me they fixed a problem from lazy disregard for like a decade in less than 2 weeks? Give me a break. They are desperate to get their little "community" back for money and nothing else. At this rate someone is going to hack the site again out of pure spite just to keep sending the message they need to genuinely care about 4chan's protection instead of doing a hack job for their investors. I'd at least be a bit more hopeful if they gave it a solid month of work before I consider it airtight enough for a test run. It should still take 2-4 if they really wanted to keep things unhackable for a long time.
>>481089 >They are desperate to get their little "community" back for money and nothing else. And the miserable ounce of power that comes from being part of Rapeape's cabal >>481088 >it’s looking like /f/ will be removed for security reasons, though that could be fake I think it has to do with how /f/ was setup. It was so archaic and anomalous that it was immune to this year's retarded April Fools joke. What is disabled for security reasons is uploading PDFs (because that was what blew up the site in the first place)
>>481089 >someone is going to hack the site again out of pure spite just to keep sending the message they need to genuinely care about 4chan's protection instead of doing a hack job for their investors 4chan has investors? Also, it will be me!
