>>243219 As of recent, I am cautious before watching every new episode. I expect them to jump the shark, get a character completely wrong, or bring up events of EQG.
Regardless of everything above, finally watched the Gabby episode. Felt like her VA could not deliver genuine excitement or joy. For the most part. Not a terrible performance, but could be more believable.
That's an odd thing, considering MLP FiM has been around for nearly a decade now. It is so prevalent, there was a time everyone on message boards had pony avatars. It's kinda hard to avoid it. I have been watching it since the first season, but yeah, I would not have checked this show unless it wasn't for people I know telling me it was good.
Everyone not allergic to fanfiction needs to read Under the Northern Lights. Everyone's in character, descriptions are very visual, dialogue is just gr8, the plot is intriguing, there is some clever worldbuilding that does not contradict the show (for now), and genuine humor that is... genuinely funny. Also, every chapter is proofread at least once.
Enjoy it here: http://www.fimfiction.net/story/877/1/under-the-northern-lights/one
I would say that 4chan has really gone downhill since I stopped posting there on a regular basis, but that would imply the site ever went uphill to begin with.
>>245185 >>245186 >>245187 >>245188 So, the seaponies are canon, furries will want to fuck that cat, and dark and edgy OC with a broken horn because her life is filled with PAIN.
>>245195 I wish there won't be more seasons than 7.
Sure, have them make 9. But it has to end soon, otherwise it will inevitably become actual crap (and not just "I did not like this episode" subjective crap).
>>245213 I think the writers are acutely aware of the dangers of becoming another Simpsons. Likely why every season changed up the show formula a little bit, or a lot in the case of alicorning Twilight, in an attempt to stave off stagnation with continual changes.
Another reminder for everyone to read Under the Northern Lights (on fimfiction.net). This piece of fanfiction is fucking amazing, and if the show's age range was raised to a 13+, would fit perfectly as a midquel arc-based season.

>>246478 Wow, they finally pulled that trigger? Between that and Starlight meeting Sunset in the new EG short, are there any other big fan-requested stories we haven't seen yet?
>>246533 Some of that feels very old in a good way. Very Bluth in some of the designs and squish and stretch of the motions. I've missed that terribly.
The voice acting sounds great and the story looks like it’ll be fun and all, and yet…the animation feels like it actually got worse compared to the show. The shading feels like it was added for the sake of making the animation look “movie-esque”. I understand why it was done, but that does not make it any less, uh, disorienting.
The Storm King is the evil and iron-fisted ruler of all the lands south of Equestria. He spent the past several years expanding his empire and now he has his sights set north on the homeland of our little ponies. Loud, angry, and a little bit crazy, he has defeated all potential threats to his kingdom with his vast army of fearsome Storm Creatures.
Queen Novo Once the majestic Queen of the mighty Hippogriff Kingdom (magnificent creatures who are half horse/half bird), Queen Novo and her subjects were forced to flee when the Storm King invaded their land, using Hippogriff magic to transform into Seaponies (half horse/half fish). Now, hiding far beneath the ocean, Queen Novo rules over the beautiful underwater kingdom of Seaquestria and enjoys the finer things in life, like Coconut Martinis and massages from an Octopus named Jamal. But even though Queen Novo claims that she and her subjects made the right decision to flee their beloved home, she secretly yearns for the life she once knew above the waves. She is the mother of the chatty undersea Princess Skystar.
Tempest Shadow Tempest is a unicorn from Equestria who has lost her way (and her magic) and joined the wrong side of the fight, acting as a henchman for the Storm King. Jaded, angry and feeling betrayed by her friends in Equestria, Tempest has become the Storm King's second-in-command and chief bounty hunter, tasked with tracking down and capturing the Mane 6. She has agreed to this mission in exchange for the return of her magic.
Grubber, a pug-faced hedgehog soldier, hails from a tribe of hardened warriors. Unfortunately for Grubber, he lacks the size of his kinsmen. But that doesn't stop him from talking tough and rough like the others. He's earned his place of honor as the assistant to the nefarious Storm King through his wise-cracking and cunning. Though he’s quick with joke and a battle-strategy, he’d probably be much happier just relaxing in the sunshine with some tasty treats. At his core, Grubber is just a good guy put in a bad situation.
Princess Skystar Bubbly, chatty, curious and forever bored, young Princess Skystar passes the time in Seaquestria by making friends out of shells and giving them names like Shelly and Sheldon. Desperate to discover new friends and adventures, Skystar is thrilled when the Mane 6 discover their world and is ultimately the reason that they agree to help the Ponies in their quest.
Capper, a smooth-talking (and singing) con-artist, was once a swanky aristocrat living the high-life with pride and dignity. That is, until Storm King came into power. A deal gone wrong turned Capper's threads on fleek into colorless rags, leaving Capper penniless and in a lifelong debt with the Storm King. To make ends meet, he relies on his wit and charm, distracting unsuspecting victims from his quick hands and swift tail. Capper’s crimes aren’t driven by malice. At his core, he feels a deep insecurity at his fall from grace, and believes his appearance dictates his status
Captain Celaeno Once brash and bold explorers, Captain Celaeno and her crew are now relegated to serving as mere messengers for the Storm King. But all that changes when Captain Celaeno discovers the ponies aboard her ship. They remind her of how awesome she once was and encourage her to return to her adventurous and courageous ways. In the end, the Captain and her crew play a vital role in helping Princess Twilight and her friends save Equestria from the Storm King.
Songbird Serenade is THE biggest performer in all of Equestria. She uses her angelic voice and incredible performing skills to celebrate the magic of friendship. What really makes Songbird so beloved in Equestria is her deep belief in the values about which she sings. She donates her time and effort to any cause, and is always willing to give back to her adoring fans that make her a star. She's beyond excited to debut a big new song at the biggest festival in the history of Equestria.
Oh yeah. Drawfag said that the reason Anon is princess right now is because she went on vacation. I'm thinking that means that she made a book fort in her library and is hiding out there.
>>247240 >he talks about "ignoring the kill yourself posts" with surprise >on 4chan What a Slowpoke. I reckon even the origami board says it semi-regularly.
This might have been posted already, sorry if it has been but I've been looking back into the 4chan Cup they've gotten really. They even have made hype videos. Here's two of /mlp/'s.
MLP movie premier happened and at the end everyone who attended got a free Twilight plushy. Anon who attended took some pics and the news embargo has been lifted on the movie.
The movie is the most 7.5/10 I've ever seen. It doesn't do much wrong and it doesn't do a lot of really interesting or cool things either. But what it does it does well and *goddaaaaaamn* a few of those songs are just real treats.
I can say in all honesty there are a few Pixar and (proper) Disney movies that I would be less inclined to rewatch than this one. I almost wish they could make them direct-to-Netflix with lower animation quality instead of cinematic releases so we could get more movies more often.
i liked the animation of almost everything but mane6 and spike, they trried to make them look cuter, it didnt work imho and their floaty animation was not too pleasant to eye.
So anyone realized yet Kimcartoons has posted half-finished S8 episodes? Some were pretty good. Like the new ideas on the whole Friendship Academy, and that the Movie locations and characters started appearing in the show, as promised. Love the new intro too, that finally showcases some important characters who should indeed be in the opening. http://kimcartoon.me/Cartoon/My-Little-Pony-Friendship-Is-Magic-Season-8
>>247739 I know they are trying to do their own thing, but the IDW MLP comics are just so... ugly to me. This art style just does not go well with the show.
S8 is out, officially too. Love the new student characters. "So you are Rainbow Dash? Gilda told me about you. I dunno, thought you would be... cooler."
>>417886 LOL. :D Good one. I remember the comic where they make a point that it's not there to show off her ginormous boobs, but it's where the S symbol would be if she really fealt like a member of the Superman family.

I think I finally understand why I am afraid to watch every new episode. I know this show has to be dumbed down for its """target audience""", and since it relies on a moral lesson at the end, I am scared that they present a lesson that is entirely unrealistic and utopian, something that will not work in real life.
Well, with each new episodes I am yet to see a lesson that flat out does not work in reality. Good on you, DHX and all the writers.
