A thread for discussing everything relating to traditional animation: shows, traditional animation techniques, creative figures who worked in the industry or at its margins (or who worked outside it altogether!), etc.

I'll start... What was the last cartoon to use only cel animation, before computer-based animation became the industry norm?

when did computer-based animation become the norm?
digital ink and paint seemed to exist as a cost cutting measure from the mid 80s through the 00s, but there were plenty of shows that used traditional paint on cels throughout the whole period
like you had 2 stupid dogs (1993) done entirely in digital ink and paint, while dexter's lab (1995) was entirely done on cels (pre revival). the final season of the smurfs was digi ink to make it cheaper, as was the first season of a pup named scooby doo. plenty of cartoons we imported from europe and canada in the 90s were digi inked, and canada seemed to lead the revolution in flash cartoons in the 00s
ed edd and eddy is usually listed as the holdout that used cels long after every other studio had stopped, but when that show started cels were already mostly on the way out. antonucci has his own studio and likes doing things his own way
