In the Archie comics, the handling of Elias was drastically different depending on the writer. He was created by Penders possibly to remove importance from Sally by giving her succession rights to an older brother she never knew about. Bollers turned him into a reluctant prince that ran off due to the stress and he couldn’t use the Sword of Acorns properly while Sally could. Flynn settled somewhere in the middle. A flawed and inexperienced prince no longer running away and instead accepting of his duties. In this continuity, his path is consistent and this is the start of it.
