One thing I have always thought about is the way Sega/IDW has treated female characters' clothing and how Archie does it. I'm sure I've talked about it before but it's so night and day. And it always happens when I see girls from both camps in the same comic, like mine. For example, Archie Surge probably wouldn't be wearing pants. The Ian era of Archie saw characters getting redesigned, even before the reboot, and getting more clothes. That even includes males, like Jack Rabbit and Guntiver (I was going to also say Uncle Chuck but he got more clothes during the Bollers era). But I'm mainly talking about the women. From the very beginning, Sega preferred fully clothed females. And they call us Americans prudes!

If I make a female OC for my comics, she's going to wear 1-2 pieces of clothing and will have to rely on her fur to protect her modesty. That's the Archie way. The true Archie way.

Sally's clothing really is telling of her personality and growth. As a kid she wears something you'd see on Jasmine from Aladdin, goes to wearing just boots, and then gets a vest. From typical princess attire to only practical clothing that isn't feminine in the slightest. At least the Archie girls fit better with the boys IMO. We still get new mobian males and they're either nearly naked or also have just a piece or two of clothing.

I was young when news of Sonic Boom came out. So excited for the Rise of Lyric game I couldn't even play, or watch the cartoon. Following the updates for it daily. The new world, it's locations, the characters, and lore. It looked so promising... Then it came out. Word of it being terrible. The show having a entirely different direction. The disappointment felt was immeasurable. And it ended not with a boom but a whimper. What a complete and utter disaster of a sub franchise.

At times it feels SEGA has not quite learned from 06's failure like, you ask the developers to essientaliy revamp the game and put it on a system that the game's engine isn't even compatible with and have them do it in half a year and be surprised that the game came out unfinished and that it failed. Kit is the lamest “tails rival” ever, and that’s saying something since the only other one who has done anything rivally is Wave.
I think Evan genuinely realised she forgot to make him Tailses’es’eses rival/enemy instead of Sonic’s buddy who got angry at Sonic after Surge came back. because all of a sudden now he started going “grr i HATE tails” when the two have barely even met and Tails has done nothing to him, Kit was only angry at Sonic originally for “lying” to him. yeah being a Sonouge or Sonaze guy plus Mimic being the only new IDW character really genuinely like made it easy.

EMH was just the thing needed to really get my love of Marvel and my interest going again, just such a great show that deserved at least one more season.

Armoured Adventures justifies itself with it's great version of Pepper plus the best lookign Rescue Armour, some great renditions of Iron Man's Rogues Gallery though wish Melter got some rep in it, the best Mandarin easily just visually and in execution plus that theme song.

The thread was just sad, like it wasn't even funny bad it was just depressing.

Yeah Hank Pym was easily one of my faves in the show and Iron Man is pretty much done perfectly even without the substance delving into and especially free of the character assassination he got in the 2000's

Honestly feet don't do anything for me. Not even a tingle down south. And I get disgusted when they're the focus of an image (which is why I never even post those as a joke haha). But the meme potential and knowing how others will immediately notice it is too funny to pass up. And the craziest thing is that Sega makes it worse with their emphasis on blob feet. It's such a Barbara Streisand move because their choice is rejected by almost everyone so those that do come up with their own. Why feet is so much bigger in the Sonic fandom than other fandoms, even ones with animals as main characters, I just don't know. It's just all so weird and fascinating. And good for trolling.

In SF4 and SF5 she was hot and barefoot. In SF6 she's hot and FEEEEEET! Street Fighter is already known for having a lot of barefoot characters and the style gives everyone large hands and feet but Juri took it up a notch over the years and the devs doubled down on it. Really started with Third Strike. From that to now we have Makoto, Elena, Ibuki, Juri, female Seth, Laura, Menat, Manon, Marisa. And some of those have appeared in multiple games. I'm glad the movies are heading the direction of not shying away from Gerald's evil. Something they've been doing for a long time. He's a sad figure, but he still tried to commit something horrible. In fact this works well with the theme for these. Which they've been setting up since the first one. I like that a lot.

I don't even remember if he had any role whatsoever in SA2. That games story is such a mystery, and the cutscenes makes no sense whatsoever. Eggman breaks into a prison and frees Shadow, Knuckles breaks the Master Emerald so Rouge can't steal it so they start emerald hunting, somewhere between that Rouge helps Eggman to break into other facilities and get Chaos Emeralds and... some time by the end Eggman activates a space station with a laser to destroy the moon and throws Sonic off an airlock almost killing him.
Then they turn into super sonic and super shadow and fight Biolizard in space.

The entire part about Gerald and Maria is something I completely do not remember at all, maybe Eggman mentions his grandfathers notes when freeing Shadow.

Are there some text sections or something in-game that I skipped over that explain everything?

TLDR: It's mentioned in one of the reports Rouge uncovers and brought up in Rouge and Shadow's conversations that his memories might be altered. There's no way for Gerald to reprogram the ARK from his prison cell, but we do know Shadow's been having issues with his memories.

That's one of the most fun and frustrating things about SA2, a lot of it you have to read between the lines (or read interviews with Sonic Team). With Sega exiting the console market and suffering serious financial losses, it wasn't clear what would happen to Sega and Sonic Team, so the development of SA2 should be viewed as their swan song.

I've written before about how it was ambiguous whether Sonic was the original ultimate lifeform, but TLDR: if Sonic Team never got to make another Sonic game, then Sonic was the hedgehog Gerald created on the ARK that bonded with Maria, whose capsule was never found (but opened ~45 years later, releasing an amnesiac blue hedgehog), and Shadow was made on Prison Island by a now-insane Gerald as a weapon for GUN, but imprinted with his will and false memories of Maria.

Of course, they did get to make more games, and while they kept this plot in Sonic Battle, by Heroes they'd scrapped it for Shadow being the original ultimate lifeform. More context was added to Shadow's past in Heroes and StH, but if we just go by the events of SA2 and ignore all the implied parts, then the "canon" story is: Maria gets sick, Gerald allies himself with GUN and begins researching a cure under Project Shadow, creating artificial chaos and the Biolizard aboard the ARK before finally creating the ultimate lifeform Shadow. He also builds the eclipse canon, which can only be powered by the chaos emeralds.

GUN gets paranoid and shuts Project Shadow down, killing the researchers and Maria, but not before Shadow escapes. GUN find Shadow's capsule and bring him and Gerald to Prison Island, where Gerald's to turn Shadow into a weapon for them. Gerald's gone insane from grief and implants false memories (i.e., his will) into Shadow. I'd argue he actually implants a copy of himself, but that's speculation.

Either way, GUN finds out what he did to Shadow and executes him, putting Shadow on ice. Eggman wakes Shadow up 50 years later after getting a copy of his grandfather's diary. Things then happen as you see them in the game (Shadow steals a chaos emerald, GUN pins the blame on Sonic to cover up their dirty laundry, Shadow collects the rest of the emeralds, etc).

What's important, but never explicitly stated is what Shadow's doing when we're focusing on Rouge or Eggman when they're on the ARK. It's actually him that reprograms the ARK to crash into Earth, although he may not be conscious of this. I personally think when Shadow's off-screen, it's Gerald in control. I also think he reprogrammed the Biolizard to crash the ARK as a contingency, and judging from how the scenes were shot in the Sonic X adaption, likely uploaded his consciousness into the Biolizard as well.

I like the idea of people who like or are fans of Sonic joining the Restoration only to become disillusioned with him and the cause, even they're still fighting for the good of the nameless animal people who inhabit the unarmed archipelago they all live in.

Nephtits really was the Starline before Starline, and the Surge before Surge, and the ABT!Lanolin before ABT!Lanolin.
Except she's more successful than the above since she actually accomplishes her goal, isn't killed off, and knows her limits. I don't think having people be tired of IDWnic and IDWEggman's shit thus going their own way is a bad idea, it's just poorly executed and may not have a place in such a game canon compliant series.
For one thing, I do like the idea of Surge and Lanolin both coming to that conclusion, but with Surge I would expect a lot more introspection from her to get to that point. Honestly Surge is kind of dumb, she wants free of Starline but doesn't have any plans of her own and does what he wanted her to do anyways even while she's plotting to kill him.
That's not a bad thing, characters can be dumb, especially when they're under or recovering from mind control like Surge is, but that needs to be addressed in universe.
Having Surge come to the realization she agrees with Starline, or her just rejecting him and becoming an anti-hero who opposes Eggman are both cool ideas but the ball is just dropped on that front. Kind of like how there was that half-hearted schizophrenia thing with Surge.
The writers clearly all have ideas for her, but from the beginning I don't think they agreed on which direction they wanted to take her in.
That said, I don't hate what Surge is currently doing in the comic, Clutch her shitty dad(?) tried to play her but she along with Kit have seemingly decided to play him and fuck everybody else over for their own satisfaction.

I think the best solution would to have Surge have an agreed upon character arc from the start, than just offload the other ideas into other characters like.
But seriously there are some strange similarities between ABT's Lanolin and some of what the writers try to do with Surge, although I don't even think you'd need ABT's Lanolin in order to do some of those story lines. Seeing Tangle and/or Whisper become disillusioned and more politically extreme antagonists within the restoration could have been cool.

>Lanolin's Restoration: A group that broke off after few failures(real & perceived) of the main good guys. Some are just tired of the same back & forth. While they'll be eternally appreciative of Sonic & the others, they feel a new way needs to combat the bad guys. No Sonic, No Acorns/FF, No GUN(distrust due to Eggman).
