If manga is making so much money in the west, why isn't manga being translated sooner rather than later if ever? Manga fan translations are done by the dozens every day because of it. If I was making manga then I'd definitely want it translated and published in the west to make money and stifle the need for piracy. The Shadow manga feels like something that should've gotten an English version ready ASAP. Give the Japanese publisher a cut of the profits or something to keep them happy. It's just leaving money on the table and giving an incentive for others to do it for free.

Japan has always been incredibly archaic in it's way of thinking. The boomers who still make the decisions constantly fail to understand how the world works nowadays and the young people?... well there's a reason why Asians in general love nuking their pixiv/twitter etc. accounts without warning and a big reason why they plaster huge stupid watermarks that say ''NO REPOST and even NO TRANSLATION (yes really). They legit fail to understand how the internet works.

At this point it's so inherently cultural that such mindsets will take a very long time to change in any meaningful way.

As for why the western industry is slow on the uptake? not sure I think that's on the JP side of things, bureaucracy and whatnot. They probably have to go through a lot of approval bullshit and it drags out, especially with the less popular mangas and anime.

I personally have seen lots of book stores filled to the brim with manga and figurines, even supermarkets have anime figures sometime. But this is all the really popular stuff (bleach, naruto, one piece etc.)

So why is this happening? It's all due to moire patterns introduced by the the scanner having a slightly different grid size to the original comic, which can create a "screen door" effect if you're not careful. So how do you fix it? Well I ran the image through a series of filters designed to combat this (mostly selective Gaussian blur), along with using AI to remove the compression artifacts, downscale, and then re-upscale the image. I was still learning how to do this so it's a little rough, although nowhere near as bad as Penders'

In Archie, kids with parents that are different species only inherit the race from one parent. Then again, I see Angel Island and South Island originally being part of Westside Island, and that South and Westside Island re-merged prior to the events of Forces
Another thing to consider is that Earth is probably odd in that its patron spirit has been split into two beings, so other life-supporting planets probably only have one. Black Doom is probably his world's patron spirit or at least what happens when the dark half defeats the light half

Decided to check the happenings thread over on /trash/ to see if 4chan did anything special for its 21st and technically it did! Instead of doing something about the garbage moderation, fixing the frequent downtime, implementing proper unicode support, allowing sound/mp4s, or having the admin even acknowledge the site's existence they implemented a new shadowban feature if you say too many naughty words. Oh well, maybe we'll get sound next year!

The shadowbans are so fucking annoying, they also do it when you use the captcha solver and it gives the wrong results. It just lets the post through but does not put it into db.
