Mimic had to die the same day all the major youtube uploads of the Ultra series did to....was gonna rewatch and catch up on Return of Ultraman/Ultraman Jack.
>>19681 Naw, we all did. If anything, we were all rooting for him to kill off Whisper so we'd never have to see her cry again and something would actually happen in IDW Sonic.
>>19685 it's alright, even being my fave of the IDW characters didn't protect him from their biggest faults with new characters or anything regarding how they execute villains and arcs.
>>19801 Sally was the trendsetter for equality in mobian minimal clothing. >>19804 They seemed to lighten up after the corruption left and Chaos was there for emotional support.
Every time that Rich gets himself into trouble, I legit feel EMBARRASSED that I got myself all bent out of shape over this man because he keeps doing this to himself and while I feel sorry for him on some human level, frankly, he can go fuck himself.

>Mimic's dead Well shit. I guess he should have been more genre savvy and disguised himself as a crying lesbian instead. Of course, now that the comic needs a new shapeshifting henchman, may I make a suggestion? >>19680 B-but he doesn't have a mouth >>19684 They'd honestly make a fantastic toxic couple, second only to Max and Locke >>19685 lmao >>19693 >And to think, there’s 20 more pages for this issue! Even the page count's going full Mecha Madness! For completeness, we better be getting a Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters back up story! >>19699 Nice! >>19800 lmao >>19801 Counterpoint: Lien-Da >>19803 I wish the new Sonic manga was doing SatBK instead of some random human with a sword >>19808 He's the gift that keeps on giving! I honestly don't feel sorry for him since this fandom's given him way more chances than he deserves and still keeps doing the same thing >>19809 You could almost say he's acting like a giant baby about it 😏 >>19811 lmao is that a giant mechanaut?
Image:175120564806.jpg(364kB, 1536x2048)Penders' crimes against font kerning.jpg
Oh and sorry I've not been around as much, work's been extra busy
On a more important note, let's look at Penders' latest crime against humanity: poor font kerning! The spacing between these letters is seriously driving me nuts: >DA VE MANAK >ART MA WHINNE Y >PA T SP A<IANTE Pure madness!
>>19818 Oh I didn't order it, although I was tempted, this is just off of Penders' twitter. By all accounts they did a good job of printing it, but the recoloring of old issues just rubs me the wrong way
>>19816 >For completeness, we better be getting a Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters back up story! Time to see who's really behind this post! It's old man Gallagher!
>>19820 And I would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling anons, and your mangey Konductor! >>19821 Why do I know so much about these fictional Echidna? Send help! Some notes: Athair's now in the correct spot as Knuckles' great grandfather. Janelle-Le (the first female guardian) was depicted as several different colors, but IIRC never pink until flynn wrote her. Most would think that Sojourner's supposed to be after Janelle-Le, but instead has been switched with the sexy purple Thunderhawk. This is actually the correct order. From the letters page of KtE#21, it was initially (from oldest to youngest) Specter, Sojourner, then Thunderhawk but the infamous family tree has it Spectre, Thunderhawk THEN Sojourner. The letters page of StH#193 switched it back and that's the order Flynn used in the encyclopedia. Spectre's next, and is correct in terms of hair color, although we never see him without his helmet in the comic. Tobor's also correct, no notes. Hawking's more or less correct, although it's a missed opportunity to not have gross almost-dead Hawking here. Matthias is also correct. Fun fact: he's the guardian we know least about. Next up is Jordan and Aaron, the only instance where we have a pair of brothers as guardians. Aaron died young, which is why the Brotherhood started the whole "traumatize your kid by walking into a fake wall of fire and let him fend for himself in the wilderness" thing. Rembrandt's up next, and is also correct. Fun fact: he's the one that came up with the name "the Brotherhood of Guardians". Harlan's correct as well, and again we know very little about this one. Geordi La Forge from Star Trek aka Moonwatcher's next, and is also correct. Fun fact: he and Harlan wanted to have all Guardians involved with the training of the next generation, instead of tossing them out into the wilderness. Sadly they were outvoted. Steppenwolf's one of my favorites, and was the first to actually be trained as a Guardian so is actually good at his job unlike super nerd Edmund. Steppenwolf's the one with the Batman-esque origin and is the one that banished the Dark Legion to the Twilight Zone because they liked playing Sega Genesis too much.
>>19822 Decided to read it and oh boy do I have notes!
>In IDW, Sonic is treated a lot like an uplifting figure, someone who’s always looking to help others. That’s cuz Ian Flynn sees Sonic as an hero and actually plays Sonic games. Ken Penders however, sees Sonic as overly competitive and angsty. Cuz that’s his idea of a teen. Flynn genuinely does not play the games, but neither did Penders, or Pontac and Graff, or the people that wrote the Boom cartoon, or the movies. You can 100% write a videogame character well without playing their games. Flynn gets several things about the games wrong in the Encyclo-speed-ia, likely due to looking up fan wikis. He also doesn't attend the Bumblecast videos where they're paid to play Sonic games, but does play the non-Sonic game ones. Sonic is canonically recalcitrant and overly competitive hero in every incarnation and this is something both Penders and Flynn get right. Where they both diverge from the game canon is having him be rude and dismissive of Tails
>You know all those scenes of Sonic bonding with his buddies over small talk and playful banter between friends? >Yeah that’s gonna be replaced by Sonic acting a dick to anyone that looks at him weird, banter replaced with overly drawn out exposition, and lame jokes. Sonic canonically mirrors the people he encounters, so he's always rude to Eggman, and competitive and violent to Knuckles, Shadow and Jet until they end up in the friends/friendly-rivals zone. Also, lame jokes are a core staple of the Sonic franchise, and both Flynn and Penders absolutely love overly drawn out exposition
>Penders is very evidently not as big a fan of Sonic as Flynn, any reference dialogue will be gone. >HOWEVER, that will be replaced by the most abhorrently awful attempts at trying to sound “hip” because Penders liked Old Luke Cage comics….. >ya know, the racially insensitive ones. I'm going full Penders defense force on this one, because those regurgitated song lyrics are fucking annoying and one of the worst quirks of Flynn's writing. Penders is an out of touch boomer given a drawing of a crocodile with a walkman and a description saying he's cool, of course he's gonna make him "hip". Also, those old Luke Cage comics are kino. They may be considered tonedeaf to modern audiences, but they have a black guy as the main character who despite ostensibly being in the hero business for the money, always ends up helping those in need
>In this hypothetical universe where Penders was actually allowed to still work on Sonic comics, I feel like MAYBE it would get to his head that focusing on Knuckles so much again would probably not work out >So here’s a funny idea, what if he started becoming obsessed with SHADOW? Yeah, Penders would definitely focus on Shadow. Like Knuckles, he's the cool new Sonic rival with lots of room to explore his past
>See the reason Ken Penders liked Knuckles over Sonic was because aside from just the former allowing for more creative freedom, he found Knuckles’ isolated status and heritage ripe for his passion project of writing a story about an animal geopolitical soap opera. >And I think knowing Penders’ surface level reading comprehension, he would probably see Shadow as a perfect replacement that could fill a similar role. >Shadow has alien heritage, is isolated from the rest of the group most of the time, and SEGA had less eyes on him during 2018. Agreed, although I'll add that Shadow was one of Flynn's favorite characters to write in Archie, but hates writing for him in IDW because Sega disagrees with his characterization of him. It's a big part of the mandates discussion
>Ken Penders injected A LOT of blatant Moses imagery and religious babble in his stories as well as “borrowing” ideas from superhero comics for his Knuckles lore. Ex. Superman, Black Panther, etc. so he would probably apply a similar method to Shadow. It wasn't just Moses! There's a lot of biblical references in Penders' work despite him not being religious.
>Ken Penders would probably look at the scene of Shadow being shown imprisoned in the future by Mephiles during 06? Well Ken Penders would probably beat that image into her head at every opportunity he could so that he could portray Shadow as a Jesus allegory allah Zack Snyder. lmao Penders already did this with Knuckles! Knuckles is literally the miracle-performing and prophecy-fulfilling savior of Mobius, who died for their sins before being resurrected.
>Hell given Penders’ obsession with Marvel, I wouldn’t be surprised if he straight up turned Shadow and Black Doom into Silver Surfer and Galactus. >Not in terms of character but in the idea that Shadow was once like a semi-disciple of Black Doom for a short time but-became a full-blown hero. >The restoration will still existc it’s not like Penders hated the Freedom Fighters but I feel like Penders never cared for Amy and also because Penders ya know he doesn’t do the whole “Women in power” thing (Cuz he cannot write a woman to save his life- Penders would be drawing from Star Trek to fill in the Doom stuff if anything. Also, Sega's few notes on Amy was that she's a Sonic-obsessed ultra-fan who's convinced herself she's Sonic's girlfriend. I'd also like to point out that Penders did a genuinely good job of writing Julie-Su and only fucked up writing Sally when his pet Geoffrey was around
>SO, I feel like he might try and make Tails the leader. He would probably make a few lame jokes about a kid being the leader of a government agency. OR alternatively if he just wanted to write a Sally clone, he would probably vandalize Whipser’s character to fit that role. Tails as a leader would be interesting, but Flynn and co literally did that with Lanolin! Also, Whisper has no personality to vandalize
>Oh also speaking of Whisper, I actually do think Penders WOULD see as a perfect replacement for Sally. >And if you didn’t like Whisper’s soft-spoken, capable, timid, personality. >You’re not gonna like the trophy-wife/generic action lady way Penders is gonna write her as. Don't tempt me with a good time because that sounds way better than current Whisper
>Oh also, Tangle and Whisper will have no chemistry and Penders will probably lean into Silver being her main interest. >Not because he’s homophobic or anything but do you actually think Penders has the balls to put any gay subtext into his writing? >Intentionally? I mean, they don't have any chemistry anyway amirite? Also Whisper x Silver is cute. Penders is an incompetent writer, but he is an ambitious one. He did make Rotor gay, and looking back you can see what he was trying to do, even if it was so bland that even an Archie-obsessed homo didn't pick up on it. FWIW, he does make the relationship between not-Rotor and not-Cobar explicit in TLSC. I'll also say that Flynn and Penders are both excellent at (unintentionally) adding gay subtext to Sonic and Knuckles
>>19832 >Speaking of Silver, it’s hard to dictate how Penders would write Silver as he’s never worked with the character before but we can assume maybe he glossed over a few wikis and would write him as either an overly highly capable cold badass unlike in IDW or just a one note dick. Silver is canonically a highly capable cold badass AND a one note dick, so that'd be a genuine improvement from uwu-ver
>a lot of people don’t care for the way Flynn’s Sonic tends to monologue or show such prowise over his achievements and his own hopeful demeanor. >And I can see why, but if hypothetically: it was even worse. >What if, it was even MORE tacky? >MORE, self indulgent? >Here comes Penders! That's literally how Kirby wrote Marvel comics so that's intentional on Penders' part. Also, it's one of the many writing habits Flynn picked up from Penders
>And he will also instead of spacing out each character’s introduction between individual issues, he’ll just dump them all into one issue, and you have to follow each one spouting their own backgrounds, hopes, dreams, quirks, etc in the most unnatural and painstakingly long way! As apposed to the stretching of single-issue plots across four issues IDW is lousy with? Not defending Penders here because he's just as guilty of this
>You may not be able to understand what they’re saying, and that’s because you don’t speak Penders-ese, so lemme explain, *ahem* >“NOTICE MT WRITING, NOTICE MY MESSAGING. I KNOW THERE’S A CHARACTER AND A STORY YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO CARE ABOUT, BUT LISTEN TO HOW PROFOUND I SOUND” Again, this bombastic style is classic Kirby, and while I don't really care for it, I can see why Penders did.
>Also any scene of the bad guys that tried to build up tension, intensity, and conflict between the characters will be directly spelt out to you either by text boxes, the dialogue itself, or by other characters in the background. >Also subtly be damned, no room for fan theorizing. lmao, they're both guilty of this!
>Unlike the regular IDW comics which aside from the Metal Virus tend to focus on more lighthearted, albeit kinda annoyingly low stakes escapades. >EVERY arc in the Penders IDW comics, will be like a war storm like the Metal Virus arc except gorier and having even less of a point. I mean, I wouldn't mind fewer annoyingly low stakes escapades in IDW...
>Oh also because unlike Flynn and Stanley, Penders is WAY more trigger happy with killing characters. >You may think this would be upgrade as it adds consequences to the story, but it isn’t. >Because they’ll only ever be in a few issues where they barely do shit and then leave. Penders mostly killed off minor characters in a book with a frankly bloated cast, Flynn and co kill off some of their most interesting characters when there's way more interesting stories they could tell with them. I want more Starline! I want more Mimic! Also, let's not forget that one of the first jobs Flynn was tasked with in Archie was to massively prune down the cast cont...
>>19833 >Sorry Jewel, sorry Rough and Tumble, you guys are not long for this world….. I honestly think Penders would like writing Rough and Tumble
>You know how Flynn at least tries to have Tails go through character arcs and develop slowly over the course of the story? >Ken Penders will in one issue write Tails like a wimp, then write Tails as a military officer, the write him as a conflicting monster, and the comic will- >act like he’s ALWAYS been a badass. Despite that never being established and borderline contradicted at many previous times during the story. Characters can be more than one thing! Also, they're both terrible at writing Tails
>Not that IDW doesn’t have some contradictions itself but instead of it just being because of constantly changing writers, it would be because Penders has the memory of a senile grandpa. It's literally the editor's job to ensure that there aren't contradictions between the plots of various writers
>I have a feeling Ken Penders wouldn’t give up on Knuckles entirely, after all he is his bread and butter. >While the Echidna stuff won’t exist obviously I have a feeling that given that there are other inhabitants on Angel Island. >Penders would make Knuckles way less laidback Knuckles isn't laid back at all in IDW!
>He would have Knuckles always either training for higher strength like a muscle head, keeping out unwanted inhabitants off the island if they even step on a twig, or just have him brood in the sky. >Think Black Adam, except utterly sauceless. >Like Dwayne Johnson Black Adam. Knuckles has always been kind to the inhabitants of the island and violent towards outsiders, and frankly Flynn has him brooding way too much
>Because Penders for some reason just hates writing Knuckles with the rest of the gang he will still be just as isolated from most stories like in Archie, however because Julie-Su doesn’t exist he can’t fall back on her to be Knuckles’ doting housewife. That was an editorial decision so that Penders and Bollers wouldn't contradict things. A proper editor would have been more directly involved
>THAT’S WHERE ROUGE COMES IN. >Yeah I’d imagine Penders would write Rouge way more femme fatale and way more touchy-touchy with people to get her way, but because Penders would probably make her the main love interest for Knuckles….. >Okay how do I explain this? Touchy-touchy femme fatale Rouge is kino and she and Knuckles have excellent chemistry (it's no Sonknux, but it's still very good)
>You know how a lot of fanfic writers and will write Catwoman and or Black Cat as overly clingy, unrealistically infatuated, and completely in-self sufficient if Bruce or Peter aren’t looking at them 24/7? >That’s how Penders is gonna write Knux and Rouge. >Be afraid. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a hyper-competent, intelligent, and flirty person like Catwoman wanting fuck a hyper-competent stoic grouch like Batman. It's what makes their relationship fun, and Knuxrouge and Sonknux are fun for exactly the same reasons
>Also the comic will promise you over, and over, and over, AND OVER again that everything that happens is for a reason. >You can decide who you are! >Except if faith says otherwise. >Everything has a reason! >Except when it doesn’t because the editor wanted this plotline to end. Again, this long-form plots that never receive a satisfying payoff are absolutely endemic to IDW
>>19834 TLDR: Penders is an incompetent but ambitious writer, and Flynn has picked up a lot of his bad habits >>19828 Wouldn't be a proper Surge comic without her getting btfo! >>19829 Yeah, the guy's def got an axe to grind >Cringe Looks like they removed it from the word filter ;_;
>>19835 >Looks like they removed it from the word filter ;_; I didn't even know there was one. In my defence, I was pretty tired when I wrote that, if I had more mental wherewithal I would have been much more eloquent.
>>19836 It’s so nice to see Omega actually show up in a comic >>19837 This comic always cracks me up with how on model the guys are despite the girls being extra curvy >>19839 Cringe used to get filtered to bueno. I think a lot of people just stop at Flynn good, Penders bad and ignore that Flynn grew up as a massive Penders fan and that many of Penders’ writing quirks have propagated over to Flynn. I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing, but ignoring it ignores what makes Archie Archie. Frankly people should be talking less about Penders and more about how the modern Sonic comic is under the grip of a very close knit cabal of ascended Sonic fans with a very specific interpretation of the franchise that doesn’t necessarily gel with Sega’s (or Archie’s!) interpretation
>>19843 >Cringe used to get filtered to bueno. Oops, that might significantly change the context of my comment over at >>>17461, which is a series I am actually very appreciative of, I was just actually saying "Bueno" for real.
>>19846 If that didn't kill him, the humiliation of getting beat by lesbians would. To make him worth coming back, he needs to be actually threatening.
>>19847 Yeah, he needs something more. I always liked the idea of him having Wisps of his own, like the Cube Wisp Wisper has on her team was Mimic's former partner. One thing I really didn't like about the last issue is that Whisper didn't really use her Wisps. Like they aren't just tool, they're people, but the story steadfastly refuses to acknowledge them as characters or give Mimic real depth instead instead of trying to make him be sympathetic.
>>19847 I always thought if he could shoot ink like either sticky globs or as flammable hazards for him to scrape his knife against objects to ignite them would work
Sonic and the Freedom Fighters Issue 8 Page 10 https://mobiuscomics.com
In the Sonic CD arc, we saw Sonic and Sally relying on each other for support. In the Sonic 2 arc, when Sally was kidnapped, Sonic lost his cool and lashed out at everyone, even his friends. Now in this arc, Sally’s worry and anxiousness has reached critical levels. It cannot be stressed how much Sally’s mental stability relies on Sonic being there for her. Sonic is lost and so is Sally.
>>19840 RIP. He really was an editor's editor. I can't help but wonder how different Archie Sonic would've been with him instead of the clowns we got >>19845 lmao, maybe genuinely using bueno instead of bueno broke the filter! >>19846 We don't really know how his powers work but I could see his shapeshifting have a regenerative component. I want to believe! >>19847 I'm surprised no one but Sonic's attempted to straight up merge with the Wisps. I could see Mimic altering his body to make use of their various abilities >>19848 They did a whole thing earlier about how they're her companions when Surge kidnapped them but it seems they just kinda dropped the whole Wisps as characters thing. They literally talk to Whisper! >>19850 That'd be cool >>19851 The artist's clearly having a lot of fun with the panels and angles here, almost as much as the Konductor is coming up with new logos for the characters to say! >>19852 It's not legally an Archie fancomic without it!
>>19851 Sally teetering from being strong willed as Sonic to a complete breakdown is an interesting trait. Even if it came out of the messy back and forth she got, if done well, I think adds to her.
>>19855 >>19853 >Shooter: Now, Ken....why is Locke microwaving Knuckles? >Penders: Well it's to ensure he's ready for his future battles with Ian Droid-- >Shooter: Yeah, about that....you DO know this is a licensed comic, right? And let me tell ya, licensed comics are a bitch to deal with, okay? I'll tell ya about GI Joe sometime. So let's not make Locke look like dick and not fuck with this Robotnik.
>>19852 >>19853 As is tradition. >>19857 Instead of getting mentally fragile as tragedies pile on like in the Archie comics, she starts off that way and gets better with Sonic's help. Unfortunately he's become an emotional crutch for her.
>>19854 Human versions of Sonic characters are always fun >>19855 Oh man, that'd would've been so cool. Imagine not having pages wasted with upside down family trees, paraphrased holocaust poems, terrible maps, and "data files." And that's not even considering all the nonsense that took place inside the comics! Also, you wouldn't see Shooter double dipping as Romy Chacon so no Tommy Turtle either! Jameson's unironically my favorite Marvel character and those Spiderman films nailed him perfectly >>19856 It's fun to point out Penders' (many!) flaws as a writer, but Bollers and Flynn had their issues as well. Not Gallagher though, he's absolutely perfect and the Forty Fathoms Freedom Fighters deserved their own spin off series! Seriously though, his stories were a lot of silly fun and him having Geoffrey just guard a doorframe is one of my favorite Archie moments >>19858 It's a 50/50 on whether Shooter would've erupted in a the biggest Jameson rant or just retired after reading Penders' pitches >>19859 >Instead of getting mentally fragile as tragedies pile on like in the Archie comics, she starts off that way and gets better with Sonic's help. The early comics starting off as lighthearted comedies unfortunately blocked off having this more realistic take, so it's nice that you're able to explore it here >Unfortunately he's become an emotional crutch for her. I think that's what they were trying to get at with the infamous slap, not that the writing really conveyed it well! Sonic's role as the infallible hero that pretends not to take Robotnik seriously and always has a witty comeback is in a sense Freedom Fighter propaganda. Sonic's antics are almost designed to be easily retellable stories that can pass amongst the other FF groups and civilians, showing that Robitnik's defeat is just around the corner. The idea that Sally has slowly started to (at least subconsciously) buy into the hype that Sonic will always be there to save the day, but is suddenly faced with the fact that he's not is an extremely compelling one >>19862 The only character I can think of that doesn't need therapy is Wyn. Even Remington has to deal with the fact that he arrested and witnessed the death of his father. Not to mention the traumarousal of having Lien-Da as your aunt!
>>19863 >I think that's what they were trying to get at with the infamous slap, not that the writing really conveyed it well! The idea that Sally has slowly started to (at least subconsciously) buy into the hype that Sonic will always be there to save the day, but is suddenly faced with the fact that he's not is an extremely compelling one I remember someone pointing out that Sally's writing made a 180 in a few issues, even contradicting herself. I still can't believe that Penders also hated the Slap and was planning on getting Sonic and Sally back together by having Sonic romance and date other girls, not to mention having Scourge pretend to be Sonic and rizz up all the girls but quit before he could make them a couple again.
>>19864 Yeah, it was pretty clear once he got back from space he and Sally were going to pick up exactly where they left off, and I think that's what all the fans wanted to see. From our point of view they'd said they loved each other before getting separated for an IRL year of issues, so the unspoken payoff was for them to finally get back together. It's just so weird, like Sally's all ready to go into the field to rescue Sonic from drowning in #132 but is all a-bloo-bloo-bloo by the end of #133 and full slap by #134. My headcanon is that Bollers was infected by the Sonamy mind virus half way through #133 and needed to torpedo Sonally to make way for infinite relationship drama >spoiler lmao, even when Penders is right, he's wrong!
>>19865 Bollers is the one person I don't know when it comes to his shipping preferences. There is the Slap and that one idea of having Sonic and Amy date in secret but is that really what he wanted? Because the change in Sally's character felt like a decision he didn't make. Otherwise he would've planted the seeds earlier. But I know that all the other major writers wanted Sonally. Gallagher had Sonic and Sally being romantic towards each other while still being friends, Penders had them be a couple in the future and wanted to undo the damage from the Slap, and Ian's the biggest Sonally shipper of the writers. Bollers is either against it or indifferent. And he still gave plenty of Sonally moments.
Comics and derailing romantic couples is such an annoyingly common and frequently occuring pattern. Though it's usually an active character derailing element that hurts female characters, the one major example of it damaging a male character is of course Hank Pym. Maybe Hank and Sally should team up considering the commonly known event that damaged their reputation literally has the same name plus both are pretty great characters that filter subhuman troglodytes.
>>19866 Yeah, every major writer except maybe Bollers was explicitly pro-Sonally, but everyone except Gallagher seemed to want some shipping drama before they settled down. Even Flynn wanted to put them through the wringer. As for why Bollers had the strange about face I guess Gabrie could've had something to do with it, but it probably came from higher up. We did get the weird magazine-style cover mandate and that anime-esque back to school issue around the same time
>>19868 It's so frustrating, just let us have the characters be happy in their relationships! It really does feel cheap >Hank Pym Yeah, that was absolutely outrageous how they did him dirty
Then again, did Bollers really need to nuke the first Light Mobius and kill everyone? Sure it gives Robotnik a reason to hop dimensions but still! Maybe it was a middle finger to Penders.
>>19871 That was so confusing. Nicole and Robo-Robotnik are both from this supposedly alternate future, but it's actually the future of the zone where Sonic and the Freedom Fighters became cyborgs, but somehow got de-roboticized sometime between the present and that future? You'd think Sonic and the FFs would go warn those guys, or at least blow up that space station he ended up uploading his mind to >Maybe it was a middle finger to Penders. I mean, Penders certainly had no problem walking all over Bollers' canon so fair's fair
Apparently Matt Herrms took down his Patreon, did anyone save those fully colored Mega Drive: Overdrive pages that he shared there a few years back? Kemono doesn't have them
>>19873 >great art >unique take on Sonic and his world >updates frequently, and with entire chapters >suddenly dropped on a cliffhanger *sigh* And that one was really good too >>19874 Finally some toxic lesbian romance that would improve IDW instead of dragging it down! >>19875 It's one of the few things I don't have, but would very much love to have >>19876 I think Surge and Amy could go interesting places >>19935 >zeena (937) >remington_the_echidna (6) It's not fair ;_;
>>19822 Penders actually responded >What makes you think I give a damn about being an influence on the franchise? People either enjoy what I did or they don’t. The rest is noise. Well I wasn't expecting to agree with Penders but here we are
This giant robot was originally normal sized and used by Enerjak for his personal army. They were later used again in the Dark Legion along with the normal soldiers. And finally became the giant referred to as a G.O.O.N. (Giants for Offensive Occupation & Nullification) when used by the Dark Egg Legion. In this continuity, there are no army of robots and the DEL isn’t a thing, so it’s called the Colossus. There might be another reason why it won’t be called a G.O.O.N.
>>19946 They made Tails cool for once! With this animation, I like to see it as Tails helping this kid like how he was long ago. Taiwan CoolFox Game Animation
Speaking of Sonic-related videogames, the guy behind Sonic Demons Unleashed, Misty Island, and Sonic Tribal is about to release his first game Kadin the Soul Eater. It's got twinks, trauma, and tummies so I'll definitely be taking a look! https://store.steampowered.com/app/3011190/Kadin_the_Soul_Eater/ https://the-ride.neocities.org/threads/136428492.html >>19944 That's the one I remember! Oh and fun fact: that's the render from the Sonic 06 boxart >>19946 >hot older Tails >shirtless >the correct number of toes (i.e., 4) This is my [videogame]! It was made for me! Drr…Drr…Drr >>19947 >This giant robot was originally normal sized and used by Enerjak for his personal army. They I knew it! They were originally called Mechanauts and were regular helper robots until Dimitri/the Dark Legion reprogrammed them to be their troops. In a way, they were a lot like the swatbots in Mobotropolis pre-coup >>19949 They make some dumb decisions on their own but together they're peak footgun
>>19947 Metal Gear it is not. >>19943 >>19944 Mighty No.9 got clowned on hard and I don't think Inafune ever really recovered from this fuckup. At least IntiCreates kept on trucking.
>>19958 I dunno why there's been so much Sonaze art in the past year or 2 but i'm happy after so long been getting more. Surprisingly never commed any for myself oddly though I'm currently in different fixation mode then Sonic stuff currently.
>>19952 IIRC Mercia was the only place that ended up deploying them >>19953 You know, it's funny to think that like the Archie Sonic Adventure adaption, Chaos can't be crammed inside the Master Emerald here because there's a chaos-infused megalomaniac with a fancy cane and a thesaurus trapped inside it Without spoiling anything, I do like Tikal and Chaos' roles in this continuity, especially since their game roles are kinda redundant in the Archie continuity >>19955 >At least IntiCreates kept on trucking. I actually like their stuff more than Megaman >>19956 lmao >>19957 They had great chemistry in the Rush games and it's a shame we didn't get more of them (the games and Sonic/Blaze interactions) >>19960 Considering the last game where Blaze had any significant role in the story was TSR (or TMoStH), I have no idea. We have been getting some nice Sonic Channel art of her though >I'm currently in different fixation mode then Sonic stuff currently. Back to Marvel no doubt!
>>19961 actually it's back to Ultraman and Godzilla at the moment since Marvel interest is on low until Cosmic Invasion or do some watching/reading. Mainly Ultraman fixated since finished X's show plus his movie, watched Omega's first episode plus hoping to watch show as it's new which will be nice and am starting Geed soon since the Ultraman Zero era is one of my faves/major viewing experiences so be fun to see the sorta finale to Ultraman Belial. Figure purchases a plenty to lol obviously so will need to increase my shelf space sometime.
Also yeah I fucking love Sonaze, so much visual perfection as a duo plus genuinely enjoyable chemistry means i'll take almost anything with them together interacting and I wish we got a game or major comic arc that gave a lot of focus and cool stuff for the Sol Dimension.
>>19961 >>At least IntiCreates kept on trucking. >I actually like their stuff more than Megaman They did kinda perfect the 2D Mega Man gameplay. Copen & Kirin(from Gunvolt 3) are pretty much X & Zero on crack. >>19962 Cosmic Invasion looks like it's going to be a fun Beat Em Up.
>>19853 >Surge kidnapped them Yeah, it retrospect it ended up being really half-hearted, which is a shame as there's a storyline there about Surge and Whisper starting off as antagonistic due to understandable reasons and then bonding over kicking Mimic's ass. That and despite being part of the world the Wisps feel very discontented from it.
>>19963 I'll use the vagueness of you saying Silver will be in it to be that he only shows up at the beginning briefly to get jobbered out by the new threat heading to or if from the Sol Dimension and then he's promptly flung back into the trashbin with no further appearance, a win win for me.
>>19968 I wanted Wendell as Quasar. Nothing against Phlya, but I like Mr. Vaughn. I'm hoping for War Machine, Cyclops, Nightcrawler or someone from the OG Thunderbolts like Songbird or M.A.C.H-1
>>19962 Fair enough, I never got into Ultraman, but do love Power Rangers and Godzilla >>19963 See, I don't think enough people realize the inherent comedy of Blaze having to babysit her cocky airhead twink friend >>19964 >Copen & Kirin(from Gunvolt 3) are pretty much X & Zero on crack. They really are! >>19965 Surge and Whisper working together would've been way more fun than what we got >That and despite being part of the world the Wisps feel very discontented from it. For a post-Forces comic that establishes early on that the Wisps are sticking around to help (well technically the Forces comic does this), they're pretty much just treated as item monitor boxes with eyes >>19973 >>19974 Such a cute couple 😍 >>19981 They're just really really close frenemies! >>19984 Fact check: true! >>19985 >antoine hasn't unsheathed his blade It's nice to see little touches like this >>19986 Don't copy that floppy! Don't Copy That Floppy (Official Video - Digitally Remastered) Seriously though, you'll want this one for Sonic 06: Sonic the Hedgehog (USA, Europe) (En,Ja,Fr,De,Es,It).ziphttps://myrient.erista.me/ >>19988 Come on Knuckles, you know only true love's kiss can break the spell!
>>19985 >>19989 >Enerjak: This your conscience, Ivo-- >Eggman: I still have one of those? >Enerjak: Sure and you should listen to the handsome voice that wants to give you more power, yessss!
Throwback Thursday #5 “4 Halloween 2004 (or Sonic meets FMA)” by emotwo (2004) https://www.deviantart.com/emotwo/art/4-Halloween-2004-11902186 Question, who would Shou Tucker, Nina, and Alexander in the universe of the pic? (and it HAS to make sense)
>>19989 I'd recommend the Ultra Series, it's a lot of good fun with some pretty profound episodes but absolute wacky antics also depending. Though it's also a ginormous franchise with hundreds of episodes, dozens of movies and varying continuities/universes. Also there's literally only a handful of Godzilla films not seen and it's cause never got the DVD release for them, specifically the original 1954 Japanese Gojira, Godzilla Raids Again and Ghidorah the Three headed monster.
>>19992 You'd be crazy not to listen! >>19993 Shit. He did a great job of Vector, and considering it was Sonic X, played the definitive version of him >>19995 Highly recommend checking out FMA/FMA:B for those that haven't seen it. It's right up there with Soul Eater as one of my favorite Shonens >spoiler Vector as Tucker, Vanilla as the mom that "mysteriously disappeared", Cream as Nina and Cheese as Alexander For the other homunculai: Pride: Easily Kit, but Charmy would be funny Wrath: Probably Max, although Gay duck would work well with Kit Sloth: Bark Greed: Nack Second Greed: Monkey Khan >>19996 I mean, Knuckles and Envy are definitely my favorite characters in their respective franchises! Remy's obviously my favorite in the Archie canon >>19998 I'll have to check it out. I do love the old Godzilla films, but then I'm one of those absolute monsters that loved Godzilla 2000. In my defense, the cartoon was really good!
>>19989 >https://myrient.erista.me/ I appreciate the link ! But where do I find the game in that messy index ? The search doesnt look up everything for a match of the title.
I shouldn't be surprised that people had a problem with the latest TailsTube, blamed it on Ian, only for it to be written by Tyson. >>19989 >It's nice to see little touches like this Originally I was planning on Mecha Sonic charging at Antoine while he had his sword out but couldn't bring himself to using it on him but that was too many panels for one thing.
>>20003 I'm pretty sure they showed up in Power Rangers, so they're technically part of the canon! >>20004 https://myrient.erista.me/files/Redump/Microsoft%20-%20Xbox%20360/ Maybe this will work? You'll have to ctrl-f to find it since it's all one big list >>20005 I was definitely disgusted when I thought of it, so it's clearly the right choice >I MAY draw something related to related to this Fingers crossed! It's always appreciated when we get some OC art in these threads >>20006 >I shouldn't be surprised that people had a problem with the latest TailsTube, blamed it on Ian, only for it to be written by Tyson. B-but it had Sonic and Knuckles flirting! I honestly didn't see any major issues, aside from the fact that Sonic canonically doesn't wear socks. Those white parts are part of the shoe. It was nice we got confirmation that Angel Island moves, but doesn't rotate. I feel so vindicated! The Rouge art was very cute as well >Originally I was planning on Mecha Sonic charging at Antoine while he had his sword out but couldn't bring himself to using it on him but that was too many panels for one thing. I think if I've learned one thing from reading all these fancomics, it's that less is more. Too often we end up with dozens of pages where nothing really happens all because the author wants to make sure the plot is properly telegraphed. Getting the most out of limited panels really does improve the flow, and while it may make things a little more subtle, I think encouraging readers to pay closer attention keeps them engaged >>20008 Sonic's gonna straight up kill these two by the end of the comic
>>20009 >I honestly didn't see any major issues I'm not sure if this is the only thing but here's one. Another one of these comments apparently was being sarcastic because they said kidding in a followup tweet. I would recommend adding the kidding part in the tweet. The bottom one replied to the post that collected these and said they didn't know it was Tyson and was suddenly fine with it. It is a shame some Sonic fans are like this but I can't help but laugh at them jumping the gun. Reminds me of threads where some anons were blaming Ian when he wasn't even the writer for that issue.
Image:175223757636.jpg(40kB, 428x614)he has to know what he's doing with that tight shirt and those sweatpants.jpeg
>>20010 For what it's worth, it was written more like a Sonic Boom sketch than Game Sonic, but then they've made it clear that while the information presented in Tailstube is correct, the character interactions aren't to be taken that seriously and the events aren't canon. It's really no different than the Twitter takeovers Also, between saving the Sonic films, designing Rough, Tumble & Tangle, having Knuckles as his favorite character, and looking like pic related, Tyson is beyond reproach! >Reminds me of threads where some anons were blaming Ian when he wasn't even the writer for that issue. Those are my favorite! It's even better when people blame Penders for something Bollers did
Image:175223790211.jpg(87kB, 625x735)king sonic and queen sally kids.jpg
>>20011 Sonic fans need to relax on what is canon and how characters should act. I bet most of them ship Sonic with someone he's never been in a relationship with. Being a Sonally shipper gives me such a sense of superiority. Everyone has to make their own fankids while Sonic and Sally have actual kids in the future. >It's even better when people blame Penders for something Bollers did I was actually thinking of mentioning that too. The Ian-Ken similarities never end.
>>20012 No one really worries that there's so many Batman interpretations, but Sonic is somehow serious business. Like, Sonic from its inception had two separate cartoons and ongoing American, Bri'ish and Japanese comics, all with different sets of characters and tones. Even game-only fans have to reconcile the tone of Colors with that of SA2 (although I will argue that game Sonic has had a consistent characterization throughout every game). What's particularly frustrating is when fans don't realize that just because the social media has the official VAs doesn't mean it's canon. It's just Sega trying to engage with fans between games. The Sonic commercials where he leaps out of the tv were never canon either! Sonic Live doesn't count >Being a Sonally shipper gives me such a sense of superiority. You won't be so smug once I finish my M25YL: Sonknux edition! Not only will I replace Sally with Knuckles, I'll replace Julie-Su with Sonic, so there's double the Sonknux! Actually Sonic and Knuckles reluctantly going to visit Knuckles and Sonic on Angel Island after Sonic and Knuckles had a falling out would be better than what we got >Everyone has to make their own fankids while Sonic and Sally have actual kids in the future. Technically in several futures!
>>19989 >Don't copy that floppy! Okay, I can't prove it, but Penders 100% had a hand in the sequel to this. Consider these facts: >very pro-copyright theme >stilted teen dialogue >little to no understanding of how computers work >music that is totally hip and happening (also the rapper is called DP, lmao) >an attempt to cover a serious topic that is wildly inappropriate for children to watch (prison rape) >dancing klingons for absolutely no fucking reason Don't Copy That 2 (Official Sequel to Don't Copy That Floppy)
>>20013 Some people really hate Ian and anything bad has to be because of him. Once that's removed then they have less of a reason to hate it and if it turns out to be by someone they like then they have to do a 180. >>20014 Not to mention that Sonic has so much fanart and endless fancomics and they're not canon and rarely completely in-character. >You won't be so smug once I finish my M25YL: Sonknux edition! Not only will I replace Sally with Knuckles, I'll replace Julie-Su with Sonic, so there's double the Sonknux! That's another thing to laugh about. All those edits where they replace Sally with the character they'd rather have Sonic with. Because it's the closest thing to canon they can get. See? I must sound smug as fuck. >Technically in several futures! Sadly one set was nuked and the second set was erased from existence.
>>20018 >Jules & Bernie in "A Regular Vacation!" >It's a slice of life story of the two on a trip to Station Square, some time away from New Mobotroplis >Some lovey-dovey couples stuff >They somehow get roped into some shenanigans: Clutch trying to woo Bernie(and hilariously put down), Jules becoming a "hostage" in a poorly planned but dangerous bank robbery(Bernie sneaks in MGS stule while Jules defuses the situation. And a bomb) and Jules discovering he can still play a mean guitar, despite robo hands, at a concert/battle of the bands.
https://www.deviantart.com/bayon18187/art/Sonic-and-Tails-talking-about-Faceless-Amy-1217001192 I say I don't kinkshame but when it gets into horror territory then I start to worry.
>>20002 ah your thinking of Godzilla 1998 which did have a great cartoon despite it's contentious film. Godzilla 2000 is where Orga debuts and confirms Goji has a healing factor
been trying to dig in the ride website the comic where it has tails becoming a sterroided monster but i can't find it, you guys happen to know the name of it?
>>20097 It's has to be Chaos Diamonds 3, but as a connoisseur of edgy older Tails kino, he should have read Darkness is not all Black instead. https://the-ride.neocities.org/comics/2022-05-16-chaos-diamonds-3/ https://the-ride.neocities.org/comics/2022-04-28-darkness-is-not-all-black/
Knuckles and the Chaotix Issue 3 Page 25 https://mobiuscomics.com/knuckles
A real team effort! I wanted Julie-Su to be useful in some meaningful way that really showed she was on the good guys’ side. And with her being the top soldier that’s related to both leaders, it makes perfect sense that she would have knowledge on her sister’s big project and how to take it down. Also, I wanted to limit Archimedes’ teleport power to a usual restriction in that he needs to be able to see or have been somewhere before to reach it.
I'm obviously very behind in updating comics, but in my defense, I have been extra busy/lazy lately! I'll get around to posting the rest later but for now here's the latest page of Sonic Adventure Soup, the comic that continues to defy explanation. The last page was posted in November 2023 but is technically included here so I don't have to find a link! https://www.deviantart.com/woforlife/art/SAS-Page-45-Pop-up-Action-Video-1217332885 https://the-ride.neocities.org/comics/2022-06-03-sonic-adventure-soup/
https://www.deviantart.com/fsc-shiningfast >find comic with good art and has blaze on it >see that it's page 19 and full of OCs >see further back in the artist's gallery >there's a 133 page series before the current one >also full of OCs I don't know if I'll get do it because there are other OC comics I'd rather do first.
>>20122 >>20114 you two are tempting an idea in me, though my usual nsfw artist isn't available currently and KappaSpark is closed so can't start with them yet.
Just going to throw a dumb idea I had. Did any edgy comic ever try an "X Force" scenario with Tails where he builds his own spec ops team without Sonic knowing about ?
>>20124 I initially though you meant a Task Force X thing but with niche Sonic Villains. Honestly what you are describing of spec-op's in Sonic sounds more like what a Team Dark comic would be minus Tails.
>>20124 >Tails makes a Tails force of his alt universes of himself where he became a monster or a bad guy ala suicide squad in order to deal with beings that are beyond godlike to teach them what happens when they interfere with sonic's motives or to prevent eggman from getting god like beings to help him.
>>20131 He dated each of them separately as a part of 'no labels, no commitment thing' sort of like what Sonic has with half of the cast. Tangle and Whisper both said that because they were cheating, while not explaining they were already in a relationship to Doom Guy. So from his point of view, he wasn't too timing and neither were the girls. Of course Tangle and Whisper realize they were being stupid in hindsight and if they wanted some dick they could have just talked about it to each other about bringing a man into their relationship.
>>20125 >like what a Team Dark comic would be. Yeah but this one could be Tails recruiting some unlikely allies to help eliminate sky menaces. So mostly a flight based spec ops team.
