Mimic had to die the same day all the major youtube uploads of the Ultra series did to....was gonna rewatch and catch up on Return of Ultraman/Ultraman Jack.
>>19681 Naw, we all did. If anything, we were all rooting for him to kill off Whisper so we'd never have to see her cry again and something would actually happen in IDW Sonic.
>>19685 it's alright, even being my fave of the IDW characters didn't protect him from their biggest faults with new characters or anything regarding how they execute villains and arcs.
>>19801 Sally was the trendsetter for equality in mobian minimal clothing. >>19804 They seemed to lighten up after the corruption left and Chaos was there for emotional support.
Every time that Rich gets himself into trouble, I legit feel EMBARRASSED that I got myself all bent out of shape over this man because he keeps doing this to himself and while I feel sorry for him on some human level, frankly, he can go fuck himself.

>Mimic's dead Well shit. I guess he should have been more genre savvy and disguised himself as a crying lesbian instead. Of course, now that the comic needs a new shapeshifting henchman, may I make a suggestion? >>19680 B-but he doesn't have a mouth >>19684 They'd honestly make a fantastic toxic couple, second only to Max and Locke >>19685 lmao >>19693 >And to think, there’s 20 more pages for this issue! Even the page count's going full Mecha Madness! For completeness, we better be getting a Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters back up story! >>19699 Nice! >>19800 lmao >>19801 Counterpoint: Lien-Da >>19803 I wish the new Sonic manga was doing SatBK instead of some random human with a sword >>19808 He's the gift that keeps on giving! I honestly don't feel sorry for him since this fandom's given him way more chances than he deserves and still keeps doing the same thing >>19809 You could almost say he's acting like a giant baby about it 😏 >>19811 lmao is that a giant mechanaut?
Image:175120564806.jpg(364kB, 1536x2048)Penders' crimes against font kerning.jpg
Oh and sorry I've not been around as much, work's been extra busy
On a more important note, let's look at Penders' latest crime against humanity: poor font kerning! The spacing between these letters is seriously driving me nuts: >DA VE MANAK >ART MA WHINNE Y >PA T SP A<IANTE Pure madness!
>>19818 Oh I didn't order it, although I was tempted, this is just off of Penders' twitter. By all accounts they did a good job of printing it, but the recoloring of old issues just rubs me the wrong way
>>19816 >For completeness, we better be getting a Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters back up story! Time to see who's really behind this post! It's old man Gallagher!
>>19820 And I would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling anons, and your mangey Konductor! >>19821 Why do I know so much about these fictional Echidna? Send help! Some notes: Athair's now in the correct spot as Knuckles' great grandfather. Janelle-Le (the first female guardian) was depicted as several different colors, but IIRC never pink until flynn wrote her. Most would think that Sojourner's supposed to be after Janelle-Le, but instead has been switched with the sexy purple Thunderhawk. This is actually the correct order. From the letters page of KtE#21, it was initially (from oldest to youngest) Specter, Sojourner, then Thunderhawk but the infamous family tree has it Spectre, Thunderhawk THEN Sojourner. The letters page of StH#193 switched it back and that's the order Flynn used in the encyclopedia. Spectre's next, and is correct in terms of hair color, although we never see him without his helmet in the comic. Tobor's also correct, no notes. Hawking's more or less correct, although it's a missed opportunity to not have gross almost-dead Hawking here. Matthias is also correct. Fun fact: he's the guardian we know least about. Next up is Jordan and Aaron, the only instance where we have a pair of brothers as guardians. Aaron died young, which is why the Brotherhood started the whole "traumatize your kid by walking into a fake wall of fire and let him fend for himself in the wilderness" thing. Rembrandt's up next, and is also correct. Fun fact: he's the one that came up with the name "the Brotherhood of Guardians". Harlan's correct as well, and again we know very little about this one. Geordi La Forge from Star Trek aka Moonwatcher's next, and is also correct. Fun fact: he and Harlan wanted to have all Guardians involved with the training of the next generation, instead of tossing them out into the wilderness. Sadly they were outvoted. Steppenwolf's one of my favorites, and was the first to actually be trained as a Guardian so is actually good at his job unlike super nerd Edmund. Steppenwolf's the one with the Batman-esque origin and is the one that banished the Dark Legion to the Twilight Zone because they liked playing Sega Genesis too much.
>>19822 Decided to read it and oh boy do I have notes!
>In IDW, Sonic is treated a lot like an uplifting figure, someone who’s always looking to help others. That’s cuz Ian Flynn sees Sonic as an hero and actually plays Sonic games. Ken Penders however, sees Sonic as overly competitive and angsty. Cuz that’s his idea of a teen. Flynn genuinely does not play the games, but neither did Penders, or Pontac and Graff, or the people that wrote the Boom cartoon, or the movies. You can 100% write a videogame character well without playing their games. Flynn gets several things about the games wrong in the Encyclo-speed-ia, likely due to looking up fan wikis. He also doesn't attend the Bumblecast videos where they're paid to play Sonic games, but does play the non-Sonic game ones. Sonic is canonically recalcitrant and overly competitive hero in every incarnation and this is something both Penders and Flynn get right. Where they both diverge from the game canon is having him be rude and dismissive of Tails
>You know all those scenes of Sonic bonding with his buddies over small talk and playful banter between friends? >Yeah that’s gonna be replaced by Sonic acting a dick to anyone that looks at him weird, banter replaced with overly drawn out exposition, and lame jokes. Sonic canonically mirrors the people he encounters, so he's always rude to Eggman, and competitive and violent to Knuckles, Shadow and Jet until they end up in the friends/friendly-rivals zone. Also, lame jokes are a core staple of the Sonic franchise, and both Flynn and Penders absolutely love overly drawn out exposition
>Penders is very evidently not as big a fan of Sonic as Flynn, any reference dialogue will be gone. >HOWEVER, that will be replaced by the most abhorrently awful attempts at trying to sound “hip” because Penders liked Old Luke Cage comics….. >ya know, the racially insensitive ones. I'm going full Penders defense force on this one, because those regurgitated song lyrics are fucking annoying and one of the worst quirks of Flynn's writing. Penders is an out of touch boomer given a drawing of a crocodile with a walkman and a description saying he's cool, of course he's gonna make him "hip". Also, those old Luke Cage comics are kino. They may be considered tonedeaf to modern audiences, but they have a black guy as the main character who despite ostensibly being in the hero business for the money, always ends up helping those in need
>In this hypothetical universe where Penders was actually allowed to still work on Sonic comics, I feel like MAYBE it would get to his head that focusing on Knuckles so much again would probably not work out >So here’s a funny idea, what if he started becoming obsessed with SHADOW? Yeah, Penders would definitely focus on Shadow. Like Knuckles, he's the cool new Sonic rival with lots of room to explore his past
>See the reason Ken Penders liked Knuckles over Sonic was because aside from just the former allowing for more creative freedom, he found Knuckles’ isolated status and heritage ripe for his passion project of writing a story about an animal geopolitical soap opera. >And I think knowing Penders’ surface level reading comprehension, he would probably see Shadow as a perfect replacement that could fill a similar role. >Shadow has alien heritage, is isolated from the rest of the group most of the time, and SEGA had less eyes on him during 2018. Agreed, although I'll add that Shadow was one of Flynn's favorite characters to write in Archie, but hates writing for him in IDW because Sega disagrees with his characterization of him. It's a big part of the mandates discussion
>Ken Penders injected A LOT of blatant Moses imagery and religious babble in his stories as well as “borrowing” ideas from superhero comics for his Knuckles lore. Ex. Superman, Black Panther, etc. so he would probably apply a similar method to Shadow. It wasn't just Moses! There's a lot of biblical references in Penders' work despite him not being religious.
>Ken Penders would probably look at the scene of Shadow being shown imprisoned in the future by Mephiles during 06? Well Ken Penders would probably beat that image into her head at every opportunity he could so that he could portray Shadow as a Jesus allegory allah Zack Snyder. lmao Penders already did this with Knuckles! Knuckles is literally the miracle-performing and prophecy-fulfilling savior of Mobius, who died for their sins before being resurrected.
>Hell given Penders’ obsession with Marvel, I wouldn’t be surprised if he straight up turned Shadow and Black Doom into Silver Surfer and Galactus. >Not in terms of character but in the idea that Shadow was once like a semi-disciple of Black Doom for a short time but-became a full-blown hero. >The restoration will still existc it’s not like Penders hated the Freedom Fighters but I feel like Penders never cared for Amy and also because Penders ya know he doesn’t do the whole “Women in power” thing (Cuz he cannot write a woman to save his life- Penders would be drawing from Star Trek to fill in the Doom stuff if anything. Also, Sega's few notes on Amy was that she's a Sonic-obsessed ultra-fan who's convinced herself she's Sonic's girlfriend. I'd also like to point out that Penders did a genuinely good job of writing Julie-Su and only fucked up writing Sally when his pet Geoffrey was around
>SO, I feel like he might try and make Tails the leader. He would probably make a few lame jokes about a kid being the leader of a government agency. OR alternatively if he just wanted to write a Sally clone, he would probably vandalize Whipser’s character to fit that role. Tails as a leader would be interesting, but Flynn and co literally did that with Lanolin! Also, Whisper has no personality to vandalize
>Oh also speaking of Whisper, I actually do think Penders WOULD see as a perfect replacement for Sally. >And if you didn’t like Whisper’s soft-spoken, capable, timid, personality. >You’re not gonna like the trophy-wife/generic action lady way Penders is gonna write her as. Don't tempt me with a good time because that sounds way better than current Whisper
>Oh also, Tangle and Whisper will have no chemistry and Penders will probably lean into Silver being her main interest. >Not because he’s homophobic or anything but do you actually think Penders has the balls to put any gay subtext into his writing? >Intentionally? I mean, they don't have any chemistry anyway amirite? Also Whisper x Silver is cute. Penders is an incompetent writer, but he is an ambitious one. He did make Rotor gay, and looking back you can see what he was trying to do, even if it was so bland that even an Archie-obsessed homo didn't pick up on it. FWIW, he does make the relationship between not-Rotor and not-Cobar explicit in TLSC. I'll also say that Flynn and Penders are both excellent at (unintentionally) adding gay subtext to Sonic and Knuckles
>>19832 >Speaking of Silver, it’s hard to dictate how Penders would write Silver as he’s never worked with the character before but we can assume maybe he glossed over a few wikis and would write him as either an overly highly capable cold badass unlike in IDW or just a one note dick. Silver is canonically a highly capable cold badass AND a one note dick, so that'd be a genuine improvement from uwu-ver
>a lot of people don’t care for the way Flynn’s Sonic tends to monologue or show such prowise over his achievements and his own hopeful demeanor. >And I can see why, but if hypothetically: it was even worse. >What if, it was even MORE tacky? >MORE, self indulgent? >Here comes Penders! That's literally how Kirby wrote Marvel comics so that's intentional on Penders' part. Also, it's one of the many writing habits Flynn picked up from Penders
>And he will also instead of spacing out each character’s introduction between individual issues, he’ll just dump them all into one issue, and you have to follow each one spouting their own backgrounds, hopes, dreams, quirks, etc in the most unnatural and painstakingly long way! As apposed to the stretching of single-issue plots across four issues IDW is lousy with? Not defending Penders here because he's just as guilty of this
>You may not be able to understand what they’re saying, and that’s because you don’t speak Penders-ese, so lemme explain, *ahem* >“NOTICE MT WRITING, NOTICE MY MESSAGING. I KNOW THERE’S A CHARACTER AND A STORY YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO CARE ABOUT, BUT LISTEN TO HOW PROFOUND I SOUND” Again, this bombastic style is classic Kirby, and while I don't really care for it, I can see why Penders did.
>Also any scene of the bad guys that tried to build up tension, intensity, and conflict between the characters will be directly spelt out to you either by text boxes, the dialogue itself, or by other characters in the background. >Also subtly be damned, no room for fan theorizing. lmao, they're both guilty of this!
>Unlike the regular IDW comics which aside from the Metal Virus tend to focus on more lighthearted, albeit kinda annoyingly low stakes escapades. >EVERY arc in the Penders IDW comics, will be like a war storm like the Metal Virus arc except gorier and having even less of a point. I mean, I wouldn't mind fewer annoyingly low stakes escapades in IDW...
>Oh also because unlike Flynn and Stanley, Penders is WAY more trigger happy with killing characters. >You may think this would be upgrade as it adds consequences to the story, but it isn’t. >Because they’ll only ever be in a few issues where they barely do shit and then leave. Penders mostly killed off minor characters in a book with a frankly bloated cast, Flynn and co kill off some of their most interesting characters when there's way more interesting stories they could tell with them. I want more Starline! I want more Mimic! Also, let's not forget that one of the first jobs Flynn was tasked with in Archie was to massively prune down the cast cont...
>>19833 >Sorry Jewel, sorry Rough and Tumble, you guys are not long for this world….. I honestly think Penders would like writing Rough and Tumble
>You know how Flynn at least tries to have Tails go through character arcs and develop slowly over the course of the story? >Ken Penders will in one issue write Tails like a wimp, then write Tails as a military officer, the write him as a conflicting monster, and the comic will- >act like he’s ALWAYS been a badass. Despite that never being established and borderline contradicted at many previous times during the story. Characters can be more than one thing! Also, they're both terrible at writing Tails
>Not that IDW doesn’t have some contradictions itself but instead of it just being because of constantly changing writers, it would be because Penders has the memory of a senile grandpa. It's literally the editor's job to ensure that there aren't contradictions between the plots of various writers
>I have a feeling Ken Penders wouldn’t give up on Knuckles entirely, after all he is his bread and butter. >While the Echidna stuff won’t exist obviously I have a feeling that given that there are other inhabitants on Angel Island. >Penders would make Knuckles way less laidback Knuckles isn't laid back at all in IDW!
>He would have Knuckles always either training for higher strength like a muscle head, keeping out unwanted inhabitants off the island if they even step on a twig, or just have him brood in the sky. >Think Black Adam, except utterly sauceless. >Like Dwayne Johnson Black Adam. Knuckles has always been kind to the inhabitants of the island and violent towards outsiders, and frankly Flynn has him brooding way too much
>Because Penders for some reason just hates writing Knuckles with the rest of the gang he will still be just as isolated from most stories like in Archie, however because Julie-Su doesn’t exist he can’t fall back on her to be Knuckles’ doting housewife. That was an editorial decision so that Penders and Bollers wouldn't contradict things. A proper editor would have been more directly involved
>THAT’S WHERE ROUGE COMES IN. >Yeah I’d imagine Penders would write Rouge way more femme fatale and way more touchy-touchy with people to get her way, but because Penders would probably make her the main love interest for Knuckles….. >Okay how do I explain this? Touchy-touchy femme fatale Rouge is kino and she and Knuckles have excellent chemistry (it's no Sonknux, but it's still very good)
>You know how a lot of fanfic writers and will write Catwoman and or Black Cat as overly clingy, unrealistically infatuated, and completely in-self sufficient if Bruce or Peter aren’t looking at them 24/7? >That’s how Penders is gonna write Knux and Rouge. >Be afraid. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a hyper-competent, intelligent, and flirty person like Catwoman wanting fuck a hyper-competent stoic grouch like Batman. It's what makes their relationship fun, and Knuxrouge and Sonknux are fun for exactly the same reasons
>Also the comic will promise you over, and over, and over, AND OVER again that everything that happens is for a reason. >You can decide who you are! >Except if faith says otherwise. >Everything has a reason! >Except when it doesn’t because the editor wanted this plotline to end. Again, this long-form plots that never receive a satisfying payoff are absolutely endemic to IDW
>>19834 TLDR: Penders is an incompetent but ambitious writer, and Flynn has picked up a lot of his bad habits >>19828 Wouldn't be a proper Surge comic without her getting btfo! >>19829 Yeah, the guy's def got an axe to grind >Cringe Looks like they removed it from the word filter ;_;
>>19835 >Looks like they removed it from the word filter ;_; I didn't even know there was one. In my defence, I was pretty tired when I wrote that, if I had more mental wherewithal I would have been much more eloquent.
>>19836 It’s so nice to see Omega actually show up in a comic >>19837 This comic always cracks me up with how on model the guys are despite the girls being extra curvy >>19839 Cringe used to get filtered to bueno. I think a lot of people just stop at Flynn good, Penders bad and ignore that Flynn grew up as a massive Penders fan and that many of Penders’ writing quirks have propagated over to Flynn. I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing, but ignoring it ignores what makes Archie Archie. Frankly people should be talking less about Penders and more about how the modern Sonic comic is under the grip of a very close knit cabal of ascended Sonic fans with a very specific interpretation of the franchise that doesn’t necessarily gel with Sega’s (or Archie’s!) interpretation
>>19843 >Cringe used to get filtered to bueno. Oops, that might significantly change the context of my comment over at >>>17461, which is a series I am actually very appreciative of, I was just actually saying "Bueno" for real.
>>19846 If that didn't kill him, the humiliation of getting beat by lesbians would. To make him worth coming back, he needs to be actually threatening.
>>19847 Yeah, he needs something more. I always liked the idea of him having Wisps of his own, like the Cube Wisp Wisper has on her team was Mimic's former partner. One thing I really didn't like about the last issue is that Whisper didn't really use her Wisps. Like they aren't just tool, they're people, but the story steadfastly refuses to acknowledge them as characters or give Mimic real depth instead instead of trying to make him be sympathetic.
>>19847 I always thought if he could shoot ink like either sticky globs or as flammable hazards for him to scrape his knife against objects to ignite them would work
Sonic and the Freedom Fighters Issue 8 Page 10 https://mobiuscomics.com
In the Sonic CD arc, we saw Sonic and Sally relying on each other for support. In the Sonic 2 arc, when Sally was kidnapped, Sonic lost his cool and lashed out at everyone, even his friends. Now in this arc, Sally’s worry and anxiousness has reached critical levels. It cannot be stressed how much Sally’s mental stability relies on Sonic being there for her. Sonic is lost and so is Sally.
>>19840 RIP. He really was an editor's editor. I can't help but wonder how different Archie Sonic would've been with him instead of the clowns we got >>19845 lmao, maybe genuinely using bueno instead of bueno broke the filter! >>19846 We don't really know how his powers work but I could see his shapeshifting have a regenerative component. I want to believe! >>19847 I'm surprised no one but Sonic's attempted to straight up merge with the Wisps. I could see Mimic altering his body to make use of their various abilities >>19848 They did a whole thing earlier about how they're her companions when Surge kidnapped them but it seems they just kinda dropped the whole Wisps as characters thing. They literally talk to Whisper! >>19850 That'd be cool >>19851 The artist's clearly having a lot of fun with the panels and angles here, almost as much as the Konductor is coming up with new logos for the characters to say! >>19852 It's not legally an Archie fancomic without it!
>>19851 Sally teetering from being strong willed as Sonic to a complete breakdown is an interesting trait. Even if it came out of the messy back and forth she got, if done well, I think adds to her.
>>19855 >>19853 >Shooter: Now, Ken....why is Locke microwaving Knuckles? >Penders: Well it's to ensure he's ready for his future battles with Ian Droid-- >Shooter: Yeah, about that....you DO know this is a licensed comic, right? And let me tell ya, licensed comics are a bitch to deal with, okay? I'll tell ya about GI Joe sometime. So let's not make Locke look like dick and not fuck with this Robotnik.
>>19852 >>19853 As is tradition. >>19857 Instead of getting mentally fragile as tragedies pile on like in the Archie comics, she starts off that way and gets better with Sonic's help. Unfortunately he's become an emotional crutch for her.
>>19854 Human versions of Sonic characters are always fun >>19855 Oh man, that'd would've been so cool. Imagine not having pages wasted with upside down family trees, paraphrased holocaust poems, terrible maps, and "data files." And that's not even considering all the nonsense that took place inside the comics! Also, you wouldn't see Shooter double dipping as Romy Chacon so no Tommy Turtle either! Jameson's unironically my favorite Marvel character and those Spiderman films nailed him perfectly >>19856 It's fun to point out Penders' (many!) flaws as a writer, but Bollers and Flynn had their issues as well. Not Gallagher though, he's absolutely perfect and the Forty Fathoms Freedom Fighters deserved their own spin off series! Seriously though, his stories were a lot of silly fun and him having Geoffrey just guard a doorframe is one of my favorite Archie moments >>19858 It's a 50/50 on whether Shooter would've erupted in a the biggest Jameson rant or just retired after reading Penders' pitches >>19859 >Instead of getting mentally fragile as tragedies pile on like in the Archie comics, she starts off that way and gets better with Sonic's help. The early comics starting off as lighthearted comedies unfortunately blocked off having this more realistic take, so it's nice that you're able to explore it here >Unfortunately he's become an emotional crutch for her. I think that's what they were trying to get at with the infamous slap, not that the writing really conveyed it well! Sonic's role as the infallible hero that pretends not to take Robotnik seriously and always has a witty comeback is in a sense Freedom Fighter propaganda. Sonic's antics are almost designed to be easily retellable stories that can pass amongst the other FF groups and civilians, showing that Robitnik's defeat is just around the corner. The idea that Sally has slowly started to (at least subconsciously) buy into the hype that Sonic will always be there to save the day, but is suddenly faced with the fact that he's not is an extremely compelling one >>19862 The only character I can think of that doesn't need therapy is Wyn. Even Remington has to deal with the fact that he arrested and witnessed the death of his father. Not to mention the traumarousal of having Lien-Da as your aunt!
>>19863 >I think that's what they were trying to get at with the infamous slap, not that the writing really conveyed it well! The idea that Sally has slowly started to (at least subconsciously) buy into the hype that Sonic will always be there to save the day, but is suddenly faced with the fact that he's not is an extremely compelling one I remember someone pointing out that Sally's writing made a 180 in a few issues, even contradicting herself. I still can't believe that Penders also hated the Slap and was planning on getting Sonic and Sally back together by having Sonic romance and date other girls, not to mention having Scourge pretend to be Sonic and rizz up all the girls but quit before he could make them a couple again.
>>19864 Yeah, it was pretty clear once he got back from space he and Sally were going to pick up exactly where they left off, and I think that's what all the fans wanted to see. From our point of view they'd said they loved each other before getting separated for an IRL year of issues, so the unspoken payoff was for them to finally get back together. It's just so weird, like Sally's all ready to go into the field to rescue Sonic from drowning in #132 but is all a-bloo-bloo-bloo by the end of #133 and full slap by #134. My headcanon is that Bollers was infected by the Sonamy mind virus half way through #133 and needed to torpedo Sonally to make way for infinite relationship drama >spoiler lmao, even when Penders is right, he's wrong!
>>19865 Bollers is the one person I don't know when it comes to his shipping preferences. There is the Slap and that one idea of having Sonic and Amy date in secret but is that really what he wanted? Because the change in Sally's character felt like a decision he didn't make. Otherwise he would've planted the seeds earlier. But I know that all the other major writers wanted Sonally. Gallagher had Sonic and Sally being romantic towards each other while still being friends, Penders had them be a couple in the future and wanted to undo the damage from the Slap, and Ian's the biggest Sonally shipper of the writers. Bollers is either against it or indifferent. And he still gave plenty of Sonally moments.
Comics and derailing romantic couples is such an annoyingly common and frequently occuring pattern. Though it's usually an active character derailing element that hurts female characters, the one major example of it damaging a male character is of course Hank Pym. Maybe Hank and Sally should team up considering the commonly known event that damaged their reputation literally has the same name plus both are pretty great characters that filter subhuman troglodytes.
>>19866 Yeah, every major writer except maybe Bollers was explicitly pro-Sonally, but everyone except Gallagher seemed to want some shipping drama before they settled down. Even Flynn wanted to put them through the wringer. As for why Bollers had the strange about face I guess Gabrie could've had something to do with it, but it probably came from higher up. We did get the weird magazine-style cover mandate and that anime-esque back to school issue around the same time
>>19868 It's so frustrating, just let us have the characters be happy in their relationships! It really does feel cheap >Hank Pym Yeah, that was absolutely outrageous how they did him dirty
Then again, did Bollers really need to nuke the first Light Mobius and kill everyone? Sure it gives Robotnik a reason to hop dimensions but still! Maybe it was a middle finger to Penders.
>>19871 That was so confusing. Nicole and Robo-Robotnik are both from this supposedly alternate future, but it's actually the future of the zone where Sonic and the Freedom Fighters became cyborgs, but somehow got de-roboticized sometime between the present and that future? You'd think Sonic and the FFs would go warn those guys, or at least blow up that space station he ended up uploading his mind to >Maybe it was a middle finger to Penders. I mean, Penders certainly had no problem walking all over Bollers' canon so fair's fair
Apparently Matt Herrms took down his Patreon, did anyone save those fully colored Mega Drive: Overdrive pages that he shared there a few years back? Kemono doesn't have them
>>19873 >great art >unique take on Sonic and his world >updates frequently, and with entire chapters >suddenly dropped on a cliffhanger *sigh* And that one was really good too >>19874 Finally some toxic lesbian romance that would improve IDW instead of dragging it down! >>19875 It's one of the few things I don't have, but would very much love to have >>19876 I think Surge and Amy could go interesting places >>19935 >zeena (937) >remington_the_echidna (6) It's not fair ;_;
>>19822 Penders actually responded >What makes you think I give a damn about being an influence on the franchise? People either enjoy what I did or they don’t. The rest is noise. Well I wasn't expecting to agree with Penders but here we are
This giant robot was originally normal sized and used by Enerjak for his personal army. They were later used again in the Dark Legion along with the normal soldiers. And finally became the giant referred to as a G.O.O.N. (Giants for Offensive Occupation & Nullification) when used by the Dark Egg Legion. In this continuity, there are no army of robots and the DEL isn’t a thing, so it’s called the Colossus. There might be another reason why it won’t be called a G.O.O.N.
>>19946 They made Tails cool for once! With this animation, I like to see it as Tails helping this kid like how he was long ago. Taiwan CoolFox Game Animation
Speaking of Sonic-related videogames, the guy behind Sonic Demons Unleashed, Misty Island, and Sonic Tribal is about to release his first game Kadin the Soul Eater. It's got twinks, trauma, and tummies so I'll definitely be taking a look! https://store.steampowered.com/app/3011190/Kadin_the_Soul_Eater/ https://the-ride.neocities.org/threads/136428492.html >>19944 That's the one I remember! Oh and fun fact: that's the render from the Sonic 06 boxart >>19946 >hot older Tails >shirtless >the correct number of toes (i.e., 4) This is my [videogame]! It was made for me! Drr…Drr…Drr >>19947 >This giant robot was originally normal sized and used by Enerjak for his personal army. They I knew it! They were originally called Mechanauts and were regular helper robots until Dimitri/the Dark Legion reprogrammed them to be their troops. In a way, they were a lot like the swatbots in Mobotropolis pre-coup >>19949 They make some dumb decisions on their own but together they're peak footgun
>>19947 Metal Gear it is not. >>19943 >>19944 Mighty No.9 got clowned on hard and I don't think Inafune ever really recovered from this fuckup. At least IntiCreates kept on trucking.
>>19958 I dunno why there's been so much Sonaze art in the past year or 2 but i'm happy after so long been getting more. Surprisingly never commed any for myself oddly though I'm currently in different fixation mode then Sonic stuff currently.
>>19952 IIRC Mercia was the only place that ended up deploying them >>19953 You know, it's funny to think that like the Archie Sonic Adventure adaption, Chaos can't be crammed inside the Master Emerald here because there's a chaos-infused megalomaniac with a fancy cane and a thesaurus trapped inside it Without spoiling anything, I do like Tikal and Chaos' roles in this continuity, especially since their game roles are kinda redundant in the Archie continuity >>19955 >At least IntiCreates kept on trucking. I actually like their stuff more than Megaman >>19956 lmao >>19957 They had great chemistry in the Rush games and it's a shame we didn't get more of them (the games and Sonic/Blaze interactions) >>19960 Considering the last game where Blaze had any significant role in the story was TSR (or TMoStH), I have no idea. We have been getting some nice Sonic Channel art of her though >I'm currently in different fixation mode then Sonic stuff currently. Back to Marvel no doubt!
>>19961 actually it's back to Ultraman and Godzilla at the moment since Marvel interest is on low until Cosmic Invasion or do some watching/reading. Mainly Ultraman fixated since finished X's show plus his movie, watched Omega's first episode plus hoping to watch show as it's new which will be nice and am starting Geed soon since the Ultraman Zero era is one of my faves/major viewing experiences so be fun to see the sorta finale to Ultraman Belial. Figure purchases a plenty to lol obviously so will need to increase my shelf space sometime.
Also yeah I fucking love Sonaze, so much visual perfection as a duo plus genuinely enjoyable chemistry means i'll take almost anything with them together interacting and I wish we got a game or major comic arc that gave a lot of focus and cool stuff for the Sol Dimension.
>>19961 >>At least IntiCreates kept on trucking. >I actually like their stuff more than Megaman They did kinda perfect the 2D Mega Man gameplay. Copen & Kirin(from Gunvolt 3) are pretty much X & Zero on crack. >>19962 Cosmic Invasion looks like it's going to be a fun Beat Em Up.
>>19853 >Surge kidnapped them Yeah, it retrospect it ended up being really half-hearted, which is a shame as there's a storyline there about Surge and Whisper starting off as antagonistic due to understandable reasons and then bonding over kicking Mimic's ass. That and despite being part of the world the Wisps feel very discontented from it.
>>19963 I'll use the vagueness of you saying Silver will be in it to be that he only shows up at the beginning briefly to get jobbered out by the new threat heading to or if from the Sol Dimension and then he's promptly flung back into the trashbin with no further appearance, a win win for me.
>>19968 I wanted Wendell as Quasar. Nothing against Phlya, but I like Mr. Vaughn. I'm hoping for War Machine, Cyclops, Nightcrawler or someone from the OG Thunderbolts like Songbird or M.A.C.H-1
>>19962 Fair enough, I never got into Ultraman, but do love Power Rangers and Godzilla >>19963 See, I don't think enough people realize the inherent comedy of Blaze having to babysit her cocky airhead twink friend >>19964 >Copen & Kirin(from Gunvolt 3) are pretty much X & Zero on crack. They really are! >>19965 Surge and Whisper working together would've been way more fun than what we got >That and despite being part of the world the Wisps feel very discontented from it. For a post-Forces comic that establishes early on that the Wisps are sticking around to help (well technically the Forces comic does this), they're pretty much just treated as item monitor boxes with eyes >>19973 >>19974 Such a cute couple 😍 >>19981 They're just really really close frenemies! >>19984 Fact check: true! >>19985 >antoine hasn't unsheathed his blade It's nice to see little touches like this >>19986 Don't copy that floppy! Don't Copy That Floppy (Official Video - Digitally Remastered) Seriously though, you'll want this one for Sonic 06: Sonic the Hedgehog (USA, Europe) (En,Ja,Fr,De,Es,It).ziphttps://myrient.erista.me/ >>19988 Come on Knuckles, you know only true love's kiss can break the spell!

Throwback Thursday #5 “4 Halloween 2004 (or Sonic meets FMA)” by emotwo (2004) https://www.deviantart.com/emotwo/art/4-Halloween-2004-11902186 Question, who would Shou Tucker, Nina, and Alexander in the universe of the pic? (and it HAS to make sense)
>>19989 I'd recommend the Ultra Series, it's a lot of good fun with some pretty profound episodes but absolute wacky antics also depending. Though it's also a ginormous franchise with hundreds of episodes, dozens of movies and varying continuities/universes. Also there's literally only a handful of Godzilla films not seen and it's cause never got the DVD release for them, specifically the original 1954 Japanese Gojira, Godzilla Raids Again and Ghidorah the Three headed monster.
>>19992 You'd be crazy not to listen! >>19993 Shit. He did a great job of Vector, and considering it was Sonic X, played the definitive version of him >>19995 Highly recommend checking out FMA/FMA:B for those that haven't seen it. It's right up there with Soul Eater as one of my favorite Shonens >spoiler Vector as Tucker, Vanilla as the mom that "mysteriously disappeared", Cream as Nina and Cheese as Alexander For the other homunculai: Pride: Easily Kit, but Charmy would be funny Wrath: Probably Max, although Gay duck would work well with Kit Sloth: Bark Greed: Nack Second Greed: Monkey Khan >>19996 I mean, Knuckles and Envy are definitely my favorite characters in their respective franchises! Remy's obviously my favorite in the Archie canon >>19998 I'll have to check it out. I do love the old Godzilla films, but then I'm one of those absolute monsters that loved Godzilla 2000. In my defense, the cartoon was really good!
>>19989 >https://myrient.erista.me/ I appreciate the link ! But where do I find the game in that messy index ? The search doesnt look up everything for a match of the title.
I shouldn't be surprised that people had a problem with the latest TailsTube, blamed it on Ian, only for it to be written by Tyson. >>19989 >It's nice to see little touches like this Originally I was planning on Mecha Sonic charging at Antoine while he had his sword out but couldn't bring himself to using it on him but that was too many panels for one thing.
>>20003 I'm pretty sure they showed up in Power Rangers, so they're technically part of the canon! >>20004 https://myrient.erista.me/files/Redump/Microsoft%20-%20Xbox%20360/ Maybe this will work? You'll have to ctrl-f to find it since it's all one big list >>20005 I was definitely disgusted when I thought of it, so it's clearly the right choice >I MAY draw something related to related to this Fingers crossed! It's always appreciated when we get some OC art in these threads >>20006 >I shouldn't be surprised that people had a problem with the latest TailsTube, blamed it on Ian, only for it to be written by Tyson. B-but it had Sonic and Knuckles flirting! I honestly didn't see any major issues, aside from the fact that Sonic canonically doesn't wear socks. Those white parts are part of the shoe. It was nice we got confirmation that Angel Island moves, but doesn't rotate. I feel so vindicated! The Rouge art was very cute as well >Originally I was planning on Mecha Sonic charging at Antoine while he had his sword out but couldn't bring himself to using it on him but that was too many panels for one thing. I think if I've learned one thing from reading all these fancomics, it's that less is more. Too often we end up with dozens of pages where nothing really happens all because the author wants to make sure the plot is properly telegraphed. Getting the most out of limited panels really does improve the flow, and while it may make things a little more subtle, I think encouraging readers to pay closer attention keeps them engaged >>20008 Sonic's gonna straight up kill these two by the end of the comic
>>20009 >I honestly didn't see any major issues I'm not sure if this is the only thing but here's one. Another one of these comments apparently was being sarcastic because they said kidding in a followup tweet. I would recommend adding the kidding part in the tweet. The bottom one replied to the post that collected these and said they didn't know it was Tyson and was suddenly fine with it. It is a shame some Sonic fans are like this but I can't help but laugh at them jumping the gun. Reminds me of threads where some anons were blaming Ian when he wasn't even the writer for that issue.
Image:175223757636.jpg(40kB, 428x614)he has to know what he's doing with that tight shirt and those sweatpants.jpeg
>>20010 For what it's worth, it was written more like a Sonic Boom sketch than Game Sonic, but then they've made it clear that while the information presented in Tailstube is correct, the character interactions aren't to be taken that seriously and the events aren't canon. It's really no different than the Twitter takeovers Also, between saving the Sonic films, designing Rough, Tumble & Tangle, having Knuckles as his favorite character, and looking like pic related, Tyson is beyond reproach! >Reminds me of threads where some anons were blaming Ian when he wasn't even the writer for that issue. Those are my favorite! It's even better when people blame Penders for something Bollers did
Image:175223790211.jpg(87kB, 625x735)king sonic and queen sally kids.jpg
>>20011 Sonic fans need to relax on what is canon and how characters should act. I bet most of them ship Sonic with someone he's never been in a relationship with. Being a Sonally shipper gives me such a sense of superiority. Everyone has to make their own fankids while Sonic and Sally have actual kids in the future. >It's even better when people blame Penders for something Bollers did I was actually thinking of mentioning that too. The Ian-Ken similarities never end.
>>20012 No one really worries that there's so many Batman interpretations, but Sonic is somehow serious business. Like, Sonic from its inception had two separate cartoons and ongoing American, Bri'ish and Japanese comics, all with different sets of characters and tones. Even game-only fans have to reconcile the tone of Colors with that of SA2 (although I will argue that game Sonic has had a consistent characterization throughout every game). What's particularly frustrating is when fans don't realize that just because the social media has the official VAs doesn't mean it's canon. It's just Sega trying to engage with fans between games. The Sonic commercials where he leaps out of the tv were never canon either! Sonic Live doesn't count >Being a Sonally shipper gives me such a sense of superiority. You won't be so smug once I finish my M25YL: Sonknux edition! Not only will I replace Sally with Knuckles, I'll replace Julie-Su with Sonic, so there's double the Sonknux! Actually Sonic and Knuckles reluctantly going to visit Knuckles and Sonic on Angel Island after Sonic and Knuckles had a falling out would be better than what we got >Everyone has to make their own fankids while Sonic and Sally have actual kids in the future. Technically in several futures!
>>19989 >Don't copy that floppy! Okay, I can't prove it, but Penders 100% had a hand in the sequel to this. Consider these facts: >very pro-copyright theme >stilted teen dialogue >little to no understanding of how computers work >music that is totally hip and happening (also the rapper is called DP, lmao) >an attempt to cover a serious topic that is wildly inappropriate for children to watch (prison rape) >dancing klingons for absolutely no fucking reason Don't Copy That 2 (Official Sequel to Don't Copy That Floppy)
>>20013 Some people really hate Ian and anything bad has to be because of him. Once that's removed then they have less of a reason to hate it and if it turns out to be by someone they like then they have to do a 180. >>20014 Not to mention that Sonic has so much fanart and endless fancomics and they're not canon and rarely completely in-character. >You won't be so smug once I finish my M25YL: Sonknux edition! Not only will I replace Sally with Knuckles, I'll replace Julie-Su with Sonic, so there's double the Sonknux! That's another thing to laugh about. All those edits where they replace Sally with the character they'd rather have Sonic with. Because it's the closest thing to canon they can get. See? I must sound smug as fuck. >Technically in several futures! Sadly one set was nuked and the second set was erased from existence.
>>20018 >Jules & Bernie in "A Regular Vacation!" >It's a slice of life story of the two on a trip to Station Square, some time away from New Mobotroplis >Some lovey-dovey couples stuff >They somehow get roped into some shenanigans: Clutch trying to woo Bernie(and hilariously put down), Jules becoming a "hostage" in a poorly planned but dangerous bank robbery(Bernie sneaks in MGS stule while Jules defuses the situation. And a bomb) and Jules discovering he can still play a mean guitar, despite robo hands, at a concert/battle of the bands.
https://www.deviantart.com/bayon18187/art/Sonic-and-Tails-talking-about-Faceless-Amy-1217001192 I say I don't kinkshame but when it gets into horror territory then I start to worry.
>>20002 ah your thinking of Godzilla 1998 which did have a great cartoon despite it's contentious film. Godzilla 2000 is where Orga debuts and confirms Goji has a healing factor
been trying to dig in the ride website the comic where it has tails becoming a sterroided monster but i can't find it, you guys happen to know the name of it?
>>20097 It's has to be Chaos Diamonds 3, but as a connoisseur of edgy older Tails kino, he should have read Darkness is not all Black instead. https://the-ride.neocities.org/comics/2022-05-16-chaos-diamonds-3/ https://the-ride.neocities.org/comics/2022-04-28-darkness-is-not-all-black/
Knuckles and the Chaotix Issue 3 Page 25 https://mobiuscomics.com/knuckles
A real team effort! I wanted Julie-Su to be useful in some meaningful way that really showed she was on the good guys’ side. And with her being the top soldier that’s related to both leaders, it makes perfect sense that she would have knowledge on her sister’s big project and how to take it down. Also, I wanted to limit Archimedes’ teleport power to a usual restriction in that he needs to be able to see or have been somewhere before to reach it.
I'm obviously very behind in updating comics, but in my defense, I have been extra busy/lazy lately! I'll get around to posting the rest later but for now here's the latest page of Sonic Adventure Soup, the comic that continues to defy explanation. The last page was posted in November 2023 but is technically included here so I don't have to find a link! https://www.deviantart.com/woforlife/art/SAS-Page-45-Pop-up-Action-Video-1217332885 https://the-ride.neocities.org/comics/2022-06-03-sonic-adventure-soup/

>>20122 >>20114 you two are tempting an idea in me, though my usual nsfw artist isn't available currently and KappaSpark is closed so can't start with them yet.
Just going to throw a dumb idea I had. Did any edgy comic ever try an "X Force" scenario with Tails where he builds his own spec ops team without Sonic knowing about ?
>>20124 I initially though you meant a Task Force X thing but with niche Sonic Villains. Honestly what you are describing of spec-op's in Sonic sounds more like what a Team Dark comic would be minus Tails.
>>20124 >Tails makes a Tails force of his alt universes of himself where he became a monster or a bad guy ala suicide squad in order to deal with beings that are beyond godlike to teach them what happens when they interfere with sonic's motives or to prevent eggman from getting god like beings to help him.
>>20131 He dated each of them separately as a part of 'no labels, no commitment thing' sort of like what Sonic has with half of the cast. Tangle and Whisper both said that because they were cheating, while not explaining they were already in a relationship to Doom Guy. So from his point of view, he wasn't too timing and neither were the girls. Of course Tangle and Whisper realize they were being stupid in hindsight and if they wanted some dick they could have just talked about it to each other about bringing a man into their relationship.
>>20125 >like what a Team Dark comic would be. Yeah but this one could be Tails recruiting some unlikely allies to help eliminate sky menaces. So mostly a flight based spec ops team.
>>20140 >Doesn't program retreat opions in his robots >Will dismantle them because it's insubordination >"300"IQ, can't code for shit, gets betrayed repeatedly And people give Hank Pym & The Trask Family shit? Sure they created Ultron & The Sentinels, respectively, but across the Sonic franchise Eggman's fuckups are plenty.
>>20142 >makes them too dumb and he ends up with scratch and grounder >makes them too smart and they betray him Eggman can't thread that needle when it comes to intelligence. He does have a better track record with daughters. Maybe he should go the Lalinde route and just make robot daughters.
>>20145 The only real failure was EVE with the attempted murder and going off to wipe out entire worlds. Mecha and Sage are loyal and while Belle may have defected she's not trying to kill Eggman. And Breezie goes off to do her own thing. As a whole, a lot better than the sons.
>>20143 >TFW we robbed of Quake Woman's sisters >>20148 >Bass almost had sisters w/Waltz & Piano >>20147 >Ivo goes on a drunken rant about the failures his boys are to an unfortunate Lien-Da >"I don't know where I went wrong?! I gave those ungrateful idiots life and a simple goal! Kill Sonic! At least EVE destroyed planets! Breezie is a success!! Even the pile of wood has my repair skills *Takes a swig of Downunda Beer*
>>20231 Honestly as much as i enjoy the napalm bomb joke, the bomb is not that great, barely does any damage but has an impressive anti air capabilities, killing wasps with one shot and burning fauna so thick that has developed an immunity to explosion blasts.
I do wish the big bomb or the Sea Fox would get more limelight given that it has some monstrous specs.
>>20235 it's great if you take it back to the first level where most of the flying/shooting kukku are. Since once you throw it onto the end of a ledge the rest of the explosion will hit them anyway, even if they're hovering above the ledge or are further away horizontally. Also has greater range on the ground than the normal bomb and can hit the Kukku that wait to shoot you once you fly up to a ledge, which the regular bomb can't. 2nd best bomb type after the Triple Bomb.
>>20242 *of course the reason it can't break through rock is that napalm isn't an explosive it's an incendiary. It's designed to stick to things and burn, not explode.
>>20235 >>20243 I think the specs are less the joke and more that Tails has a weapon specifically designed to horribly kill people. Not much good against a giant robot, how could you do this - tier against someone who has skin
https://www.deviantart.com/shieltar/art/MP-Locked-in-mariage-1220188012 >Monkey paw requests. a subscribestar reward where you get what you ask for, but never what you meant. I know this artist has quite the interesting list of interests. This one is pretty tame.
>>20245 >Lien-Da: Don't threaten me with a good time! In fact you can pull my ha-- >Knuckles: Why are you like this? >Kragok & Julie-Su: We wish we knew.
>>20251 people have gotten so spastic about how heroes must kill/villains must die that it's really obnoxious. I like a good recurring villain and if MCU films have shown is that just killing most of your villains is a terrible idea
>>20021 Well I have egg all over my face! In my defense, they weren't in it for very long >>20023 No worries! I genuinely think it isn't that bad a game, and it's a fascinating look at Sonic Team's development process >>20026 Even worse, I got the title mixed up with Dracula 2000! Now that I think of it they were both American takes on classic monster movies that I really enjoyed, but were widely panned. Also Dracula 2000 has Gerard Butler ;) >>20104 >Also, I wanted to limit Archimedes’ teleport power to a usual restriction in that he needs to be able to see or have been somewhere before to reach it. You're never gonna live down the X-Men comparisons! >>20107 No worries! I've never heard of that one, and couldn't find anything on it >>20113 I like to think Mordred and Thunderbolt are the source of 99% of Eggman Empire's HR complaints >>20120 I still can't believe how many we've yet to storytime >>20134 Fun fact: this artist did that lewd Sonally comic https://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/thefuckingdevil/folder/345696/Sally-Comic >>20135 It's pretty mid. The Shadow one was way better. Also, Dash & Spin did comedy better and Sonic the Hedgehog Story Comic did cool action and adventure better >>20140 I can't help but see his cape fasteners as little pacman ghosts >>20159 Thanks for posting! >>20236 >I want to own this Same >>20237 >To clarify, I am talking about the posters. Agree to disagree! >>20245 Honestly it's like you just write what I'd say for all of Lien-Da's dialogue >>20247 It'll be interesting to see how you flatten out Knuckles' convoluted family tree >>20254 Exactly! I think it also misses the point that none of these characters would kill in cold blood. Most of the characters are fine with killing if it's in the heat of battle, but they're ultimately not executioners
Looks like we'll be doing this fanzine this Friday. One thing though, while there's a good number of illustrations and comic pages, some pretty big names too, there's a lot of text only stories as well. I don't think I'll post them as part of the storytime but maybe somewhere else? Not the best looking cover but the majority of art is much better. >>20253 >>20256 As much as I like Lien-Da, I didn't much care for Penders making her a completely mellowed out mother in the future. Nice of Ian to make her a terrorist again. I don't want to fix her, I want to make her worse. >>20254 Yeah and Knuckles isn't the type to commit mass murder, even if they're his enemies, even more so if they're other echidnas. >>20260 AGREED >>20263 >It'll be interesting to see how you flatten out Knuckles' convoluted family tree By the time we finish the Knuckles Adventure arc (issue 5-6), a good number of it will be explained. Sadly not enough to fill out an entire tree.
https://www.deviantart.com/ragevx https://the-ride.neocities.org/comics/2022-03-01-hedgehogged/ Or I could do the recently released reboot of Hedgehogged now called Fractured Chaos. All pages dumped today. Fanzine can be next week.
>>20263 Ironically Thunderbolt probably faces harsher HR since it'a directly against Dr Eggman while Mordred probably gets a slap off the wrist for his slap of a ladies cheeks or a cheeky hypno fetish antic. Plus I'm sure Dr Eggman would be fine with it despite being a feminist since it inconveniences Sally one of his more notable non-Sonic enemies.
Funny enough I'm arguing about Wrecker's character in a thread specifically that awful page mentioning the bus and what suits his character/level of villainy since on the villain killing topic. Also yeah trying it with Sonic characters is just silly since at most Shadow, Omega, Espio and Whisper are fine with killing enemies. Sonic is in a grey area since some versions are more merciful and when he does kill villains it's usually monsters, entities or robots anyway but it's also only an issue cause IDW made it into one when it wasn't before though Archie has slight shades of it.
>>20266 Knuckles is pretty rough and a fierce fighter but he isn't a killer. Even with Thrash he wasn't going to kill him and he actively saved Rouge's life despite her role in the Master Emerald being destroyed plus generally hassling him.
>>20268 >Ironically Thunderbolt probably faces harsher HR since it'a directly against Dr Eggman while Mordred probably gets a slap off the wrist for his slap of a ladies cheeks or a cheeky hypno fetish antic. Plus I'm sure Dr Eggman would be fine with it despite being a feminist since it inconveniences Sally one of his more notable non-Sonic enemies. Who would run the Egg Army HR Department? Receptionik? Beauregard? Or someone unexpected like Crocbot?
>>20271 Okay, that was hilarious. >Morderd gets stocked when talking about killing Rob'O The Hedge >The Eggman Empire has to implement a HR Training on harassment thanks to T-Bol(Harassing Eggman), Wendy(Harassing Eggman), Metamorphia(Harassing Eggman), Morderd(Improper Use of Hypnotics), Lien-Da(Sexual & Psyical Abuse) & Akhult(Where do we fucking Start?). Katella avoids this because she's a for hire bounty hunter.
IDW is finally allowed to jump ahead starting with issue 84. Will this revitalize the writing for this comic or will it be more of the same? I want to be optimistic but I also don't want to set myself up for disappointment.
>>20280 >Will this revitalize the writing for this comic or will it be more of the same? >using content from a game with the most vapid writing ever >placating things will drastically change when it doesn't What do you fucking think?
>>20266 >fanzine I can convert those to jpegs if you like, I've got a whole process set up after doing Drogune >I don't want to fix her, I want to make her worse. Exactly! I was waiting for her to do a big reveal that she was still trying to take over Echdnopolis. Well, I was waiting for anything to happen in M25YL >By the time we finish the Knuckles Adventure arc (issue 5-6), a good number of it will be explained. Sadly not enough to fill out an entire tree. Oh, you're getting a tree, whether you like it or not! >>20267 Wow, I was not expecting that! >>20268 Yeah, it is the Eggman Empire after all. TB walks a thin line between ensuring her competence and loyalty outweigh Eggman's annoyance at her advances.
It definitely has to be proportionate. Superman could easily laser off Luthor's head but Superman's powers and resourcefulness, he should be able to find a non-lethal solution. Game Sonic's got no qualms about killing Eggman, so long as it's not in cold blood. He assumed he blew up Eggman in S1,S2,CD, 3&K, Colors & Forces, chased after him at the end of SA1, threw him into the core of the planet in Unleashed, left him stranded in a timeless void in Generations, and sabotaged his vehicle so he'd fall to his death in Lost world. The only games where he isn't willing to kill him are ones where Eggman is helping to save the world (SA2, StH05, 06, Frontiers), or Heroes, where he lets the Chaotix deal with him >>20269 I think that Knuckles and Superman being the last of their kind (well, not really but close enough) does predispose them to sparing lives instead of ending them >>20270 I could see Maw running it, if only to get blackmail material. If it was Boom, it'd definitely be Amy >>20271 lmao >>20279 I'd say it's both >>20280 You know, all this could've been avoided if Flynn would just relent and add in the Zeti OCs like Iizuka wanted. We could probably even have Sonally if they stuck some horns on her >Will this revitalize the writing for this comic LOL. I'm kinda interested in seeing Sage bully Belle though
>>20285 >I can convert those to jpegs if you like, I've got a whole process set up after doing Drogune If you want to. I have a program that does it too. I just haven't fired it up in a while. >You know, all this could've been avoided if Flynn would just relent and add in the Zeti OCs like Iizuka wanted. We could probably even have Sonally if they stuck some horns on her I was thinking that Lanolin was going to be the Sally copy but she ended up being a completely different character. So disappointing. Ugh there's that d word again!
>>20287 >preboot sally in her reboot clothes >not her preboot clothes or dancer costume which she was wearing when she killed kodos Oh well, I'm just happy she's there.
>>20280 Finally seeing the Egg kids all interacting will be fun but its a bit late to do a Frontiers. This should have happened earlier, at least after Restoration HQ was blown up, that was the perfect opportunity for a time skip. Sales wise, it will probably improve somewhat. Also I'd like a Surge and Sage interaction.
Sonic and the Freedom Fighters Issue 8 Page 13 https://mobiuscomics.com
Unfortunately for the Chaotix, I don’t want to spend that long on them so they get taken out pretty quickly. Unfortunately for the Freedom Fighters, they’re the ones getting the focus in these pages. First up is Tails, heroically facing off against his big brother that he admires.
>>20285 Zeti Sally or Zally would make me super hard and also yeah nail on head in regards to game Sonic since there are so many instances of him not caring if Dr Eggman lives or does but also he isn't just gonna kill him on the spot but he isn't gonna give him an unprompted getaway.
>>20286 >If you want to. I have a program that does it too. I just haven't fired it up in a while. Will do! >I was thinking that Lanolin was going to be the Sally copy but she ended up being a completely different character. So disappointing. Ugh there's that d word again! Yeah, I was kinda hoping she'd at least have some Sally-like attributes >>20287 >ancient Sonic (aka Modern Sonic) from Sonic Boom >The three musketeers of Soleanna >ancient sword wielder from the new manga >Zero aka Infinite's sword Now there's some obscure ones >>20289 >dancer costume lmao >>20290 We also have Dreams and Team Sonic Racing that could've been incorporated somehow >>20294 Nice to see Tails stepping up >>20295 And now I want to design a Zeti Remington! Yeah, Sonic isn't a bloodthirsty maniac, but a dead Eggman wouldn't exactly ruin his day. Even Tails was prepared to kill Eggman in SA1 and SA2
>>19832 >or the movies The guy behidn the movies was the leading director of Shadow's game, thirstposter. The people behind the movies probably have a better grasp of thd overall franchise, including the games, compared to msot of the others you lsited - they just don't care to follow the games 1:1 because that would be boring and the movies are ultimately their own continuity doing their own thing. For the better, I say.
>>19950 >https://store.steampowered.com/app/3011190/Kadin_the_Soul_Eater/ Just judging by some of the characters in it, I can tell it's utterly unhinged. Which is a good thing - we need more unabashedly schizo games.
>>20299 Wow, I didn't think I'd see Stripey posted here! I really wish we got a comic covering his AU. Thalia was a fantastic artist, and by all accounts a wonderful person >>20301 To play devil's advocate (hew hew), his plan makes a little more sense if you reorder the cutscenes to see his order of events. He essentially had two goals: Trick Silver into killing Sonic so he can merge with Iblis, and fuck with Shadow while manipulating people to collect the chaos emeralds (also needed to merge with Iblis). He initially wasn't going to take on Sonic directly, but when Silver changed his mind he had to take the risk and kill Sonic himself Oh and fun fact: he was originally going to be trapped in the book of darkness, not the scepter of darkness >>20304 Jeff Fowler's role in StH05 was CGI movie production, meaning that he just worked on the animated cutscenes. The director (and writer) was Shadow's number one fan (and Zeti fetishist) Takashi Iizuka. I'd actually argue that Iizuka doesn't really get Shadow (only best boy Maekawa does), hence the different characterization of Shadow in Heroes, StH05 and Sonadow Generations to SA2, Sonic Battle, and Sonic 06
As for Fowler, he's gone on record saying he didn't replay the adventure games before working on the third film but I do think he genuinely cares about the franchise. That both the Boom cartoon and the movies did a great job of adapting Sonic into a different medium without their writers playing the games shows that caring about the franchise is what makes a good adaption. I think explicitly making them their own continuity helped, especially when you consider Prime and Sonic X were supposed to be canon to the games
>>20306 Exactly! He puts a lot of thought into his worldbuilding so it should be a wild ride. If you've read any of his fiction, you'll know it's almost guaranteed to have some grimdark stuff going on
>>20312 Microwaved grapes, Knuckles' favorite! Seriously though, don't do this it'll create plasma (grapes are mostly water, and the wavelength of a microwave in water is about the same size of a grape and because they're round they can trap the waves, storing them like a battery
We are back! And boy oh boy, the Sonic threads on /co/ intensified. I read the IDW issue and the crossover one. Whoever did the latter really didn't like the issue. In fact a lot of people sucked the fun out of it so I dipped out. Didn't really spend any time reading other posts in either storytime thread. And both issues weren't even that bad. But the sequel bait for the DC crossover really did remind me of Worlds Unite.
Since we're back, I can share this true tale. So Daniel Barnes was advertising his ripoff comic on the board for VIDEO GAMES. It was a sad sight with trying get anons to engage with it with obvious self replies. I'd even go as far as saying one saying he was better than ian was him too. Very desperate and pathetic.
>>20396 Barnes always did come off desperate for work with IDW. He probably pitched more minis after Scrapnik but the best he got was a Chaotix one shot. Archie managed to have a whole bunch of writers through the years, many at the same time. IDW has Ian and Evan with only other writers for specials.
>>20394 Oh, so Sonic macs on a human woman and everyone loses their mind, but when Sally does it it's totally fine. What a double standard! >>20395 Oh boy have I missed this place. I tried reading some 4/co/ threads but I just couldn't put up with the noise >But the sequel bait for the DC crossover really did remind me of Worlds Unite. I'm just waiting for Michael McCalister to pull off his hyperrealistic latex mask to reveal Paul "it's all his fault" Kaminski >titanic Fun fact: Britney Spears is the current owner of the Heart of the Ocean diamond Britney Spears - Oops!...I Did It Again (Official HD Video) (@2:52) >>20396 lmao, I can't tell if it's ripping off Sonic, prototype Sonic, or Avatar the last Airbender! My question is how it's possible that a 3d clock render from 30+ years ago looks better than one from today. Also, it misses the gravitas of the original where Eggman's holding Little Planet's chain. They could've at least connected it to the clock and made it a pocket watch! >>20397 As mush as I liked Scrapnik Island, I think Barnes would do better professionally if he stepped away from xitter. At least Flynn knows to keep things (generally) boring and professional on his. I do wish we had more writers though >Archie managed to have a whole bunch of writers through the years, many at the same time. And even some who were also secretly the editor!
Breaking Penders news: He has finally seen the light as to the one true ship!
Oh and I was going to do TLSC for the storytime of pain last weekend over on 4/co/, but saw how poor the turnout was to even last year. It's like all the fun's been sucked out of that place ;_; >>20399 Your offering pleases me, so your life shall be spared! >>20402 We all know the only women Sonic's into are human women. Sally also counts because But(t)ler draws her like one
>>20400 >>20401 It was so bad. Everything was an affront to God and the storytimer was like an evil version of me. Hater Conductor or Dark Conductor. It never ceases to amaze me how so many people hate something so much and still show up every thread to read and get mad about it.
>>20406 lmao, we finally got the anti-Mobius version of you! I honestly wonder if those anons even remember that they first came to 4chan to have fun discussing subjects they liked
>>20401 >Oh, so Sonic macs on a human woman and everyone loses their mind, but when Sally does it it's totally fine. What a double standard! Elise came onto Sally! She was only there for a diplomatic visit, nkt her fault the Princess of Soleanna was smitten. >>20403 Blue Bastard needs to keep it in hia pants
>>20395 >Whoever did the [DCxSonic storytime] really didn't like the issue. It was the Tailscel, he was constantly seething about Sonic and calling him a "self-insert" and saying that Darkseid "jobbed" because Super Sonic spindashed him once.
It's like Tailscel takes /dbs/ funposting about jobbing and cucking seriously. The dude is so insufferable to the point that the (totally bland) DCxSonic comic actually looked decent because his seething was so out-of-proportion.
>the IDW issue Surprisingly good, for IDW. >no crying OCs >Shadow isn't a fucking jobber moron >action-focused >hinting at a wider plotline >atmospheric and mysterious 7/10, at least. Good show for once.
>>20407 It's insane how every single little thing on 4chan gets a dedicated schizo who shits up every thread about it. >Sonic gets Tailscel, Boco, and the rest >Disney has Moorefag >KFP2 has Sharktalefag >Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood has the Funnyschizo I wonder if Mario threads have some dedicated spammer who wants Luigi to be the main character or something.
>>20411 If IDW can keep it up maybe it'll manage to be half decent! Maybe they'll manage to have Surge and Kit do something interesting, although road to Sonic 100# isn't making me excited for the pacing of this arc. The coffin thing gives me Black Doom vibes, although who knows it could always be a Zeti, or as always Eggman.
>>20413 >although road to Sonic 100# isn't making me excited for the pacing of this arc. Oh jeez, I hadn't thought of that. That makes me really nervous as well. Hopefully they divide the super-arc up into smaller sequential arcs.
I think Eggman has an imaginary friend. And he seems to be more interested in talking to them than he is monitoring the situation with Mecha Sonic. Here’s hoping this doesn’t mess with him too much.
>>20408 Well, Elise was the one to make the first move on Sonic >>20409 It's such a frustrating read. Penders had been hyping this thing up for over a decade and we're left with this mes that spends so much time on things that don't matter, but can't even be bothered to make its plot accessible to casual readers. It took me several reads just to put the plot together, and even then I had to cross reference his tweets, blog posts and M25YL. Not even Bobby of ThanksKenPenders fame was able to fully piece that thing together, and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone else with as much arcane Penders knowledge https://thankskenpenders.tumblr.com/post/754930795872960512/the-lara-su-chronicles-beginnings >>20410 Same, I've missed talking to everyone >>20411 >It was the Tailscel lmao, clearly he misses us! >>20411 >It's insane how every single little thing on 4chan gets a dedicated schizo who shits up every thread about it. Imageboards really are a double-edged sword since while you can post your mind without having to associate it with an identity, it also means that schizos that have been banned from every other branch of a fandom have somewhere to go. Every thread haunting schizo I've run into on 4chan has eventually mentioned that they've been banned from everywhere else >I wonder if Mario threads have some dedicated spammer who wants Luigi to be the main character or something. >>20495 >Blanka, NO! Not the Head Bite!! >>20497 Sonic Team already has actual firefighters >>20498 We need Genderswap Rouge to meet Julie-Su just for hee to go "Oh No, He's Hot!!"
I feel bad for Vector. He got shot by Julie-Su and bopped by Maw. And he missed out on the big robot battle. But he did fight alongside Knuckles for a bit. And don’t worry, nobody’s getting pregnant any time soon. But if anyone was going to get teen pregnant, it would be Surge.

>>20499 Burning Rangers has such a slapping soundtrack. It’s really good at that uncanny valley stuff >>20501 Pretty much any board can be fun, provided you can get into the threads that haven’t (yet) been plagued by schizos (and jannies) >>20503 On the plus side, you’ll subvert Sonic fancomic expectations by not having Sonic get teen pregnant first! >>20506 That’s a really cute take on Sally, and does a far better job of capturing the original's style
>>20513 We should've gotten Team Dark shenanigans in Echindaoplis with Rouge flirting with Remington who brushes it off with his professionalism/love for his girl. And Omega & Shadow teases her for it.

>>20526 Gomena-sorry! I had some time set aside to catch up last week but the site was down. I'm going to do an impromptu catchup storytime this Thursday 7pm. I've also got some Sonic-adjacent stuff to do >>20529 To be fair, Sonic's regular shoes are boots with the shaft (the technical term for the upper part of the boot) turned down. And in case anyone's seen the latest Tailstube, he also wears socks, they're just not visible Timberlands are the crocs of the boot world. At least get some Chelsea boots if you need something more formal, or combat, engineer or harness boots if you need something sexy but hard wearing
Speaking of Crossworlds, the opening theme is absolute trash. The music's a lazy retread of the previous racing themes, but this time sung by some disaffected aged out twink that's afraid to hit the high notes cos he knows his voice can't handle it. You can't hide mediocrity with a rap breakdown Sega!
It's like they wanted Bentley Jones, but forgot they're not on speaking terms after using one of his remixes on an album without permission. At-least-the-music-will-be-good bros, I don't feel so good ;_;
>>20540 >It's like they wanted Bentley Jones, but forgot they're not on speaking terms after using one of his remixes on an album without permission. Really? When did that happen?
In the Archie comics, Bunnie was considered the biggest threat (after Sonic) because of her power and versatility. Which is why she was the first to fight and be taken out by enemies. This time, Antoine’s magic sword is more dangerous. Ultimately it doesn’t matter because all are taken care of fast.
>>20541 IIRC, it was the true colors compilation album. There’s a remix of Dreams of Absolution that Bentley didn’t actually authorize. >>20542 PS&G is one of my absolute favorite shows, I can’t believe they’ve found a way to improve on perfection! >>20543 It can help you sound like you’re hitting all your notes at the expense of sounding weirdly metallic, but I don’t think it can extend someone’s vocal range. I guess they could pitch it up in post, but it’d never sound natural. Dude’s singing kinda quietly to try and sidestep it, but it just sounds disaffected >>20544 Ahem, I’m pretty sure Tommy Turtle is the biggest threat and best Freedom Fighter. Seriously though, that panel by Spaz of Bunnie fighting Mechanic Sonic is easily one of the best in the entire run
>>20536 I already used up my allude to Mordred quota so I'll just upfront say despite preferring her usual design that this isn't actually half bad colour and clothes wise.
>>20545 >Tommy Turtle Maybe it's me, but I never really understood why he was so controversial. He was unnecessary and the narrative kinda dickrode him in his early appearances, but he seemed inoffensive compared to shit like Charmy doing LSD or Titan Tails.
>>20555 >He was unnecessary and the narrative kinda dickrode him in his early appearances Isnt that the reason ? The guy was basically a poochie pushed in by someone from the staff.
Okay, so I've been lazy and have not pre-downloaded the comics, so expect a slow-paced storytime >>20555 >>20559 Yeah, he's inoffensive, but the fact that he was the editor's secret identity's pet meant that he was never going to be well received. Dude's introduced like he's a long term good friend of Sonic that everyone immediately loves, and it just comes off weird. Contrast this with the other Freedom Fighter groups they introduced: they made it clear that our FFs had been in contact with them before, but still introduced them because that would be the first time they were meeting in person.
>>20565 The Heart of a Monster 10-31 Sonic looks well-plapped >>20564 In hindsight, maybe programing Metal to think he's the real Sonic wasn't the best idea!
>>20571 Is this the first time Marisa has appeared? She looks weirdly older here, like mid-teens. First it's Sonic, then it's Silver looking like an old man with the fashion sense of a teenage girl. Silver is still the worst but I don't get the trend of just plastering stickers and bandages onto characters like that. >>20568 This is a pretty good mage, I always like seeing Mobians and humans casually interacting. Other than that I'm glade this update her more sonic-looking characters but Sonic is really starting to look even more naked than usual. Rouge as well with that white suit thingy.
>>18835 Tethered Futures 2-11 https://tethered-futures.the-comic.org Well, that can't be good! >>20573 You'd think fans would come up with a simplified design for him!
>>19453 Team Dark Supernova Odyssey 4-14 https://teamdarksupernovaodyssey.tumblr.com https://teamdarksupernovaodyssey.thecomicseries.com/ I mean, the biolizard being female does make sense considering those egg-like things it generates, but I'm pretty sure it's a dude in canon. Fun fact: the scream it does is a distorted version of Sonic and Shadow's combined scream. I fucked up and missed a page ;_; >>20575 Noooo! Anything but that!!!!
>>20581 Team Dark Supernova Odyssey 4-15 So that's why he has robot assistants! Honestly, I consider this 100% canon >>20576 Yeah, I don't remember her being in the comic previously. She's definitely older here >I don't get the trend of just plastering stickers and bandages onto characters like that. I suppose it's quirky, but I think it's just overdone and lame. Your readers can pick up a character's sick through other ques, you don't need to bumper-sticker them! >I always like seeing Mobians and humans casually interacting The Archie reboot did this really well >Sonic is really starting to look even more naked than usual. uwu >Rouge as well with that white suit thingy uwu, again! >>20578 lmao >>20579 Noooooo! Do you have any idea how long their backorder list is for custom Werehog "silicone statues!?" I kinda want a Remington plushie now
>>20582 Team Dark Supernova Odyssey 4-16 That's actually pretty cute. He's right about Shadow and Omega having very complementary color schemes, but Rouge does as well if you consider her Heroes (aka her best) outfit
>>20582 >>20583 Yeah, I can see that reasoning why Ivo builds helpers/lackies but as one anon said he sometimes build them too dumb like Scratch & Grounder or their too smart for their own good like Orbot.
>>20581 >>20582 Both of these are pretty cute, I like Eggman valuing his niece's opinion here. It's a bit silly and not entirely in character, but I think it makes sense when it has to do with a younger relative, he just wants to look cool. I'm sure metal is feeling more than a little jealous here, but that's what he gets for brooding instead of making himself useful. >>20583 >Rubber Duck method Wait... that's why he keeps Metal around! A friend told me about that the other day. It's hard to tell if Metal liked or disliked being petted here, but it's pretty cute. >>20588 Right, there's that nice zone. He needs them to be smart, but not too smart. If they start getting their own ideas then there's too much of a risk of a 'spruned Starline'-type situation playing out. Although it happened first with Metal, before he returned to the Eggman during the rush games(?).
>>20589 What Eggmsn needs is to build is his own Bass.....or better yet, rebuild M, the one who can beat up Sonic-class opponents and was loyal to a fault.
>>19294 Infested 2-32 https://infested.the-comic.org He's got a point there! >>20588 Orbot's an interesting case since he's smarter than the others, but seems mostly there to sass him >>20589 >Both of these are pretty cute, I like Eggman valuing his niece's opinion here. Yeah, it's pretty OOC for most incarnations, but would fit in well for Sonic-X >Wait... that's why he keeps Metal around! A friend told me about that the other day. It's actually a really good way to solve problems, especially technical ones. >It's hard to tell if Metal liked or disliked being petted here, but it's pretty cute. >>20592 Infested 2-33 https://infested.the-comic.org And one of the creepy mind control bugs approaches >>20590 >Rouge should have special battle armor by GUN. They really need to lean more heavily on the whole James Bond spy gadgets and vehicles thing with Rouge >>20591 Justice for Mecha!
>>20595 >>20596 >>20597 I wonder if Ivan is actually the one who died instead of Tails, although considering how long we've spent on him I expect him to stick around at least a little bit longer. If he's alive he's probably going to continue to make the worse decisions. Ah well, I'm sure either way Sonic and co still aren't going to have a fun time with the mind control bugs, although I'm sure Starline would love them if he was alive. New Mobotropolis better hope they have some people on stand by that can stand against Sonic and shadow.
>>20604 >Sonic's mistaken a big guy for Tails It's more likely than you'd think! >>20605 I get that they don't want ai gobbling it up or people reposting it to make money, but it's not like those sort of people would care. Fun fact: each of the large ai companies have pirated more copyrighted content than any single human ever could >>20606 Yeah, we want Mammoth Mogul! >>20611 Yeah, sorry. I'll get through the rest in a few days. I've also got a Sonic-adjacent comic I want to do next week
Oh, and while I'm posting comic pages, here's the one where Penders is implying Robotnik knows Rotor's gay and is blackmailing him about it, as if Sonic wasn't just trying to kiss Knuckles to the applause of everyone in Knothole >>20615 He's just playing hard to get!
>>20605 Reposting art without giving credit to them. You see it all the time on Deviantart and Twitter. Most artists want to get credit so more people will check out their other work but there are some that are very weird about it and don't want anyone posting their stuff anywhere, even if they get credited. It's also why some artists will slap their name all over an image in ways that can't be cut out.
>>20617 Yeah, it's pretty shameful when people don't give the artist credit >some artists will slap their name all over an image in ways that can't be cut out If you listen hard enough, you can still hear ~Lance the freelance artist~ echoing through our storytimes
>>20619 Most of the time when Penders wrote touchy subjects in the comic it was a mess (Do I need to bring up the poem?) it was Penders’ over ambition at play. He wanted to write these serious, forward-thinking (for the time) stories but how he wrote them, ESPECIALLY in retrospect lacked tact. And as said earlier in the thread, Penders needed a Jim Shooter to reel him in and remind him he’s still writing for a children’s comic about a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog
>>20619 >>20621 With Penders, it'd be something like: >Rotor comes out of the closet >King Max wants to lynch him >Sally meekly begs her illustrious, perfect, Godlike father to spare Rotor's puny life >Max eventually relents, has Rotor severely beaten instead >everyone learns a lesson in forgiving Rotor for offending an Almighty Father Figure Who Can Do No Wrong >12 issues later it turns out that LockeXMax is canon, and still nobody calls Max out for being a hypocrite or anything

He's more like an uncle.
>>20621 Rotor being gay is kind a ironic since originally him and Bunnie was the pair intended for Satam and not Bunnie and Antoine like Archie went with.
>>20619 Going on a tangent here, but for those that haven't been stargazing (and you should!), your eyes are more sensitive to in the periphery. This means you'll see all these stars out of the corner of your eye that disappear when you focus on them.
Penders' writing reminds me a lot of stargazing, where all the characters in the periphery (Remington, Striker, Wyn, Julie-Su, etc) end up realistic and nuanced, but his favorites all end up weird and wooden (Locke, Geoffrey, most of the secret grandpas). It's the same with the plots. Whenever he's trying to be a grand writer tackling some big issue it comes across as awkward and weird (e.g., the drug overdose), but when he's just writing characters interacting it can be pretty good (Remington and Julie-Su working together during the drug overdose case).
As for doing a big gay issue on big gay Rotor, I have to agree with everyone here, it'd be a total disaster. Even now, seasoned writers have trouble writing realistic stories about gay people, and this would be a mid-90s story, and written by Penders! As for my take on how it'd go down: It'd 100% be about Rotor coming out at a really bad time because Robotnik's asked too much in his blackmailing of him. This would nicely set things up for everyone to turn on Rotor, Sonic being generally homophobic (because Penders doesn't distinguish between Sonic and Scourge). Bla bla bla, Rotor will decide to move back home but discover some Robotnik plot and bravely risk his life teching the tech to save the day. Of course, now that Rotor's accepted and out of the closet, Penders would immediately turn him into a gay caricature that sometimes does tech stuff
>>20620 lmao >>20621 Ideally, they'd have employed someone to squirt him with water every time he suggested tackling a big issue. If it can work for cats, it can work for Penders! >>20622 That take's way better! Honestly, Penders unintentionally writing Locke and Max secretly having an affair utterly fascinates me. It completely recontextualizes all their awful actions, and is genuinely one of the most interesting gay relationships in all of fiction >>20623 Penders' take on Sonic is so weird. Like, he understands he's a wisecracking protagonist but never realized that underneath all that he genuinely cares for his friends. I do find it hilarious that both he and Flynn are really good at intentionally writing Sonknux into their stories >>20626 Gunslinger Bunnie would've been a fun preboot story >>20675 Guilty as charged! >>20676 With so much Muh-ria-ing in fancomics, I guess people are trying to branch out into new Muh-ria frontiers >He even has a horde of children, which Tails probably takes care of(unless Tails is dead), let's face it Sonic isn't exactly the fatherly sort eve as a dilf. He's more like an uncle. Sonic stepping up and taking responsibility while still being carefree and happy is what makes it hot though! >>20677 With how lazy I've been with the comic updates it's only fair! >>20678 Yeah, they had them dancing together in the original opening because they were planning on making them a couple in a later season, but then I think someone at Archie realized the Gambit and Rogue possibilities with Antoine and Bunnie, and the rest was history. I can see why Penders chose Rotor though, he's the least developed Freedom Fighter and unlike Sonic, Tails, and Antoine, didn't really ever show any romantic interest in women
>>20681 Purp’s stuff is so cool. I hope he continues his comic when he gets time >>20682 I’ve never actually seen the show (but I did watch red vs blue!), so if we did one I probably wouldn’t have realized it
And we end this issue on one last block. These darn teens need to slow down! This is what happens when nearly every parent is gone and you have barely any parental figures to compensate. Next up is a half issue! We’re going back some years to find out the fate of Locke and Dimitri! Something tells me it’s relevant to what’s happening over in Sonic and the Freedom Fighters!
>>20684 >he's using the Shadow voice Oh my! >>20690 >Oh Arora, I almost sound like my sister! >~Oh Knuckles, I can't wait for you to de-orbit your Death Egg into my Lava Reef Zone~ I mean, she's not wrong! >>20697 lmao, that's 100% true >>20698 Does seem to be a lot of drama and spiraling going on there. >>20701 >>20702 Pretty cute, even if the first is a bit too out of character my my tastes. Oh hey a relevant Whomp comic! >>20723 Bean's bat and spider designs have been changing a bit over the years and seems to have infected their Sonic designs.
>>20706 And another one bites the dust. I did like issues 0 and 1. Even if they never included best boy Remington, they at least gave Rotor a cute design, and Ash was very handsome >>20708 Website's still up, for now at least. I've archived the comics, just in case. >>20711 As much as I appreciate them removing one of the major Sonknux obstacles, it really was a dumb idea. If you don't want to write Sonally, then maybe adapt some other Sonic canon. They were definitely hinting at Sallycole even in issue 0, despite saying they were going for Sonally >>20718 Wew! >>20719 Even worse, it's the comic where he loses to Uwuver ;_; It wouldn't be as bad if it were cocky delinquent twink Silver >>20722 Gotta AU fast! >>20723 MeanBean was always more of an Animaniacs/WB cartoons fan and I think that's been coming out more in the art. Bean actually had a Teen!Animanics fancomic out around the time of Dear Future Husband, but I've never been able to find a single page >>20724 A lunch fit for a king! >>20726 ;_; >>20729 Weird we've never seen many takes on a Metal Werehog let alone ones with the grippers on display
>>20731 >Website's still up Hm. Must've been a server thing because I got the Cloudfare page when websites are down. >Teen!Animanics fancomic I remember that. Was it deleted?
>>20726 He still does them but he has moved his system to be discord only for the time being. it's unclear if he will return to socials as of right now.
>>20732 That'd explain the chest plate and the W >>20733 >Hm. Must've been a server thing because I got the Cloudfare page when websites are down. It seems to work only some of the time. I had to refresh a few times to get all the pages >I remember that. Was it deleted? There was a really early one that's completely gone from the Internet but Bean started up another one post-infinite AU spiral. Might have been a part of the larger WB comics stuff though, I checked out when it was all non-Sonic art >>20734 Glad to hear he's still around, even if the comic's likely abandoned
>>20738 Tails sends Sonic to go investigate some mysterious readings, but the art style changes and Sonic gets totally stacked between pages 10 & 12. Also, he inhales some purple gas, gets knocked unconscious, gains strange markings and has somehow caused his slutty evil(?) twin Dark to appear
>>20741 Thanks, I thought you were joking about the purple gas but no it's true wtf lmao. Also the artstyle went from on model to porn model like damn son why did Sonic have such giant man boobs for a few pages.
>>20746 Seconded, I really hate the super special 'chosen one' child protag. Why is it so hard to focus on Sonic and his friends? why are you wasting my time with Chris Thorndyke 2.0? so annoying.
>>20745 Maybe I'm being too nice, but I thought it was alright. The parts with Yuuta playing straight man to Sonic at the start were pretty funny, and the rest was just straightforward action.
It's off-putting to have another human protagonist instead of just focusing on Sonic and pals, but the comic does a decent job so far of splitting the screentime between Sonic and Yuuta. If I were writing it, I'd have cast Tails in the Yuuta role and changed the magic sword into something Tails invented, but that doesn't mean it's bad.
I also have to give it credit for having expressive character designs that tell you a lot about the characters One look at Yuuta and you know he's a normal kid. One look at the evil bank robber guy from the first chapter and you know what his deal is. Same with the big bully kid, or the schoolteacher.
>>20742 Yeah, after reading my summary I realized it still makes no sense. Kinda feels like an early 00s fancomic where the artist is hot for a morally ambiguous Sonic clone >>20743 This is 100% a woman thing, and something I've been seeing a lot more of recently in the Sonic smut community (KrazyELF, TooDamnCycle, etc) >>20744 Some lady artists have done great bara Sonic art, but you can generally tell when it's a guy holding the pen. For example, pic related (spoilered because bulge) was definitely drawn by a dude >>20745 From upthread >It's pretty mid. The Shadow one was way better. Also, Dash & Spin did comedy better and Sonic the Hedgehog Story Comic did cool action and adventure better It's not bad, but I just don't really see the point of it, of course I don't really see the point of IDW either >>20747 >Why is it so hard to focus on Sonic and his friends? But enough about IDW, amirite!? >>20748 It's well executed, with Sonic being very much in character anda good amount of action and comedy, but the focus on Yuuta does drag it down. There's literally thousands of manga with a normal kid stumbling into adventure and finding out they're the chosen one
>>20751 And here's some nice bara art by a lady artist. It's hard to explain, but there's a definite male gaze in the previous pic and female gaze in this one. It's not exactly Tom of Finland versus romance novel cover, but it's there! It's so hard to find examples that aren't straight up smut
>>20754 Still technically Sonknux! Seriously though, people seem to love shipping him with all sorts of characters (my favorite being Manic) >>20755 It’s such a fun film! I still can’t believe they thought rebooting it with Tom Cruise was a good idea >>20756 Lmao, The Slap™️ wishes it had that kind of pull! >>20757 I’ve been kinda swamped irl but should have it out in the next few days
>>20758 >I’ve been kinda swamped irl but should have it out in the next few days Are you one of the increasing number of unlucky persons who is being forced to come into work instead of being allowed to WFH? I know too many who used to have all the free time in the world during coof coof 19 only for that luxury to be taken away from them because CEOs are fucking retarded.
>>20759 I used to “work” from home most days, but now I’m in several days a week because some of the stuff I’m working on legitimately needs me to be there in person. Those Bad Dragons won’t sculpt themselves! Still, I’m hoping to cram all that into one or two days a week so I can make more time for my true calling: making catty comments about blue Hedgehog comics and lusting after Echidnas!
>>20763 >>20764 I like how Shadow is putting in even less effort than Sonic is, he's here on official GUN business and he refuses to play dress up. Although should Chaos Emerald really be trusted to private individuals like this? I guess The Restoration are just too much of a collective cuck to take it. Actually that gives me an idea, I'd like this story more if Rouge and Shadow were also trying to steal the Emerald since GUN just told them to take it.
>Tails is here, laughed when his only value pointed out was being the tech and nerd guy. They did try to show that he was fiercely intelligent, though. Sonic was basically just doing everything Tails told him to do.
>>20751 >but the focus on Yuuta does drag it down. It's a shame, because this manga is otherwise a pretty solid portrayal so far. Sonic is in-character, Tails is treated as being very intelligent and meticulous, and Eggman is a good blend of menacing and buffoonish. But the Yuuta stuff is so generic that it sticks out like a sore thumb. The comedic scenes with him and Sonic are genuinely more entertaining than the "Sword of Courage" action scenes.
>>20762 I am at least trying to improve the work-life balance so hopefully should be able to spend more time here >>20763 I do like the SA1&2 critter floats and Barry cameo, but that way too pink. It looks like the cliffs are bleeding ;_; >>20764 Sonic jamming olives onto his fingers like the petulant weirdo he is is genuinely the most in character he's ever been in IDW >>20765 >The Restoration Oh yeah, the organization headed by Jewel, the one person with a worse track record of losing powerful gems than Knuckles >I'd like this story more if Rouge and Shadow were also trying to steal the Emerald since GUN just told them to take it. Well, that literally was the plot of one of the Archie issues! >>20766 He's clearly busy being catty with Tails, and now that Rouge has arrived, they can both have fun bullying Shadow >>20769 They're still around in the games, but IDW is in this weird limbo where humans may or may not exist, which carries over to GUN. They've shown Spagonia, but it was suspiciously deserted, and the mannequins were all Mobian-sized >>20770 100% agree. Sonic's very much in character, but my issue is he's not the main character, Yuuta is. Highly recommend Dash & Spin if you enjoy a comedic Sonic manga. Actually, I've been thinking of storytiming all the Sonic mangas
>>20771 >Highly recommend Dash & Spin if you enjoy a comedic Sonic manga Reading through it right now, and stumbled onto this page. Now I get why you recced it, lol.
We check in again on Chaos and Tikal. And look who makes an appearance! This surprisingly gives more clues into what’s going on with the multiverse as well as what Chaos thinks about what’s going on over at Angel Island. And this is the second time someone was about to be named but it didn’t happen. I wonder who it is.
>>20773 The ultimate rainwater collection technique! >>20777 There he is! >>20782 We all know this was the real video you wanted to post! >>20784 They did a great job of recreating that 80s-90s cgi style >>20785 >>20786 lmao, I was going to post those pages but wanted it to be a surprise! >I think it's time SEGA just admits that Sonuckles is canon. He legitimately has more chemistry with Knuckles than any of the other game characters >>20788 >Amy gets constantly cucked in this Manga it's really funny The whole comic is pretty much everyone bullying Amy and Eggman while Sonic and Knuckles flirt >shame we don't have the whole thing. We definitely have the whole thing, and if we didn't I have physical copies of both volumes >>20792 I know the first volume was translated, but only parts of the second were I think. Could be fun using Google Translate to kludge together our very own scanlation >>20793 I for one only consider Captain N: The Game Master to be the canon Mega Man >>20795 Out of the way Starline, the comic's real disaster homosexual is here! >>20797 I can't believe you decided to replace me with Mephiles, how rude! Seriously though, I don't envy the artist having to work out how his feet work. Having Chaos and Mephiles be brothers is a really interesting take. I like that they're mouthless deities humanoid that can use the Chaos Emeralds, but thematic opposites (crystals versus water). I kinda want Infinite to be Mephiles' Tikal equivalent now >>20798 He's a really compelling villain in that unlike Eggman, he's got some agenda that he never really fully revealed. Sure, he wants to merge with Iblis to become Solaris, but it seemed like that was just plan A. I think they've been toying with bringing him back for a while now. The Time Eater in Generations has similar purple energy, and it wouldn't have taken much for the Phantom Ruby to have been some sort of Mephiles artifact instead
Ultimately, the idea of the fastest thing alive going up against a villain that can manipulate time itself is just really cool
>the worst ever Sonic game. Ahem! That would be Sonic Jam on the Game.com, or maybe Free Riders, or Boom, or ...
>>20797 Mephiles doesn't have a mouth, but he would just have the biggest shit eating smile ever. He also reminded me of Hades here. Imagine if he was voiced by James Woods, I think it could work.
The idea that he runs his own echidnas is hysterical. The echidnas by themselves cause so much chaos, and now there is a guy actively fanning the flames of disaster
Video:175517583310.mp4(2.60MB / 0:00:07 / avc1, 1280x720)Maybe the real flames of disaster were the bargains we made along the way.mp4
>>20800 I really like Mephiles' crystalline look but Black Doom's got a way more unique design, and his super form's fantastic. Who doesn't like a giant demonic space dragon!? All the various Black Arms' designs are cool too, and it's fun to theorycraft that instead of just relying on tech, they (and the Black Comet itself) are grown for whatever tasks are required >>20801 James Woods' Hades was so good! Should've made the whole movie about him and Meg being catty bitches >Mephiles doesn't have a mouth Fun fact: even when he merges with Iblis to form Solaris, he still doesn't get a mouth. The latest Sonic Channel art did show him eating food at a café though >The idea that he runs his own echidnas is hysterical. He mentioned the Master Beryl, so I assume he's pulling the strings behind anti-Mobius' Echidna bullshit™, much like Chaos is behind the Prime universes' Echidna bullshit™. Just imagine, a sexy evil Remington! >spoiler Oh boy, time to post that video again!
It’s Thursday, let’s throw it back! Throwback Thursday #10: “Tammy Tickles” from rick2tails/EWS (Posted in 2012, made in 2000) https://www.furaffinity.net/view/8511542/
>>20797 >Chaos hates humans but also feels Knuckles needs to answer for the nonsense Oh boy, sounds like Knuckles is on Echidna Bullshit Clean Up Duty!!
>>20810 >Market Street and Radical Highway are the only ones that don't sound like ass >Arranged by Tee Lopes and co-arranged by Jun Senoue Well, there you have it. Maybe having a bunch of randoms to compress the original music into low-bitrate mp3s and then add a drum machine wasn't the best idea. mp3 related, spent a whole 2 minutes to make this (which is probably more time than the actual arranger spent) All-stars Racing Transformed got it right by hiring a single composer that was familiar with Sonic music (Richard Jacques, of Sonic R fame) to arrange all the tracks so they had a consistent sound without sounding like ass >>20811 100% this. I've been consistently impressed by indie developers and consistently disappointed by triple-A studios >>20803 >EWS >The dude behind sabrina-online Yeah, that tracks. You don't see much of that classic style anthro art anymore >>20806 lmao, it's Batman Sonic from Sonic CD! >>20808 Oh my, maybe you can improve on perfection!
>>20813 >>20810 Why not just get Richard Jacques, Mitsuyoshi(Daytona USA fame), Yuzo Koshiro and Hideki Naganuma to do the music along with Jun & Lopes since it's not just Somic but Sega characters as well?
>>20802 I unironically love the Black Arms though I also played Shadow growing up despite it not being a 6/10 of generous. Their biological weapons n designs that manage to mix the cartoony style also with the more visual jarring elements of stuff like Dark Gaia or Iblis make them feel more organically a part of the setting then many other aliens in the franchise. Also despite their heavy organic visual element, them also having ancient ruin architecture across earth they can utilise with an oddly mystical flair makes them blend the fantasy elements of the setting as much as the science fiction elements adding to them feeling not to put of place despite their deliberate invading the setting and usual status quo vibe. Plus Black Doom looking like an Alien Warlock more then a space King makes him visually unique as far as evil space aliens even if he also is very similar to Wizeman in outfit and in being a villainous entity with a hand in a main characters creation. Hmmmm, maybe when get back into Sonic fixation mode I should put some focus onto Black Arms stuff to make a change from Sally or Mordred tism.
Locke was a dedicated guardian of the Master Emerald. Dimitri, his brother, was a brilliant scientist aiding him. Why past tense? Well, this half issue will show you why! Let us go back in time to when Knuckles was a little boy, experiencing the worst day of his life.
>>20916 >Dimitri is Locke's brother Dammit Conductor, that's no way to write! You have to add in ten generations of interchangeable Echidna Grandpas to make things seem more epic in scale! If Dimitri is Knuckles' uncle, than their relationship becomes personal and interesting!
>>20814 I think I'll do it all at once, since it's been a while since I've posted updates >>20815 Thanks for posting! >>20821 I was so disgusted by it I almost didn't post it, but then thought if I have to suffer through it, then you all do too >>20823 I know right!? A close collaboration between a few Sega music greats would've been a fantastic way to celebrate things. Instead we got... this >>20825 Well at least we can tell it wasn't ABT! >>20828 Unpopular opinion, but they fixed Rouge with her Heroes outfit >>20831 Yeah, a lot of people say they were just aping Halo (and they were to an extent!), but the Black Arms are IMO way cooler. The whole ancient order of space-faring techno-organic magic users wanting to eat all life in the galaxy is such a cool take on things. Way better than the generic sci-fi space aliens we could've gotten >Wizeman Now that you mention it, he does seem to have been a big inspiration for Black Doom >Hmmmm, maybe when get back into Sonic fixation mode I should put some focus onto Black Arms stuff to make a change from Sally or Mordred tism. That's the spirit! >>20911 And now I'm wondering what Mopver's super form would be. Maybe one of those motorized street sweepers? >>20912 I absolutely love the artstyle, moving away from pixelart to a more airbrushed boxart look was definitely the way to go. Mania 2 would've been so cool ;_; >not upside down You had one job concept art guy! >>20914 F anon >>20915 Truly Surge is a villain to be reckoned with >>20916 Cool uncle Dimitri is a fun twist >>20917 Oh you're still getting a family tree! I'll be making one regardless of the Konductor's protests!
>>20918 Honestly the only Halo aping I can see is with them being Aliens who are symbolically very terrorist coded however the Black Arms are a singular cohesive race/despite their varied diversity with the worms, 4 eyed cute dragons and shares a name with an F-Zero vehicle on top of the vagueness of if they have individuality or are an extension of Black Doom's will. While the Covenant is essentially a religious holy crusade consistent of many ayy's with essentially ghettofied advanced precursor tech and despite some shares belief have a lot more inner conflict, individuality plus are pretty much manipulated by their leadership instead of just the hivemind deal.
Honestly they've done a solid job leaning into the bio stuff in regards to their weapons, forms and general aesthetic that it might be fun IF they did come back to maybe lean into the mysticism or chaos mastery further with their new leader being a traditionalist perhaps and seeks less the crude new method of consumption or seeing the Black Comet as a monument to that folly of excess biological arts. Honestly since we don't see their planet I like to think the End destroyed it however that mostly just scattered the Black Arms into factions on different chunks and debris so while the Black Comet is gone there's others like the Black Moon or so on.
>>20919 It's no secret Sonic Team were trying to go for an older audience and after the decision to go multiplatform with Heroes, it was pretty clear they were trying to draw in the Halo audience, and in particular Halo II (which came out around when they started development. The game's got: a super strong main character with a gruff voice; in-level companions that give advice/banter; is set amongst a full-scale invasion of the MC's homeworld; a mix of human and alien weapons (including glowing swords!) to choose from; a variety of cars, flying vehicles and stationary turrets to use; three factions at war with each other (GUN, Eggman, Black Arms and Humans, Flood, Covenant); and aliens with a mix of sizes and body types that are best suited to different tasks
I do agree that weren't doing anything thematically similar to Halo, and the Black Arms are nothing like the Covenant. Maybe you could argue that the Black Arms are like a mix of the Covenant (spooky cult aliens) and the Flood (techno-organic hivemind), but it'd be a stretch. At most, I think they were trying to have a similar boxart checklist as Halo (vehicles!, guns!, aliens!, space lasers!, not cute!) to try and reconnect with fans that felt they'd outgrown Sonic
Yeah, I absolutely love their aesthetic and having them come back would be great (so long as they don't use it as an excuse for more Muh-Ria-ing). Finding out what their home planet is like would be really cool. All of the Sonic games have taken place on Earth or Earth's orbit (well, except for Shuffle and Team Sonic Racing), so staging a game on another planet would be a gutsy move
I also think their planet's destroyed, only I think they had their own Gaia crisis where Black Doom was their Dark Gaia's ally/avatar. The idea is Light Gaia wins by working with its ally/allies to restore the planet and continue the cycle, but when Dark Gaia wins, the planet is destroyed but its avatar is granted great power at the expense of needing to devouter other worlds. The End being responsible is great thematically though, since it's a good contrast with how the Ancients handled things. While they fled, the Black Arms have decided to forge a similar path of destruction
>>20916 Swerve, Dimitri is just Knuckles brilliant yet wacky Uncle that Lovke makes sure his brother doesn't blow up the island with his projects. Like the Waffle-Tron 3000.
Speaking of Penders, he did mention his colorist's full name and after some light cyberstalking it turns out I was wrong, it's not some kid but a 30-something math teacher. I won't post anything identifiable, but anyone who guessed Microsoft Windows interface enthusiast (it's a thing, apparently!?) and Diana Ross fan may claim their prize! >>20924 Fucking lmao! Absolutely perfect, no notes!
>>20927 >Locke: You bastards said the pizza would be free if you took longer than 30 minutes! It's been 32 minutes!!! Also guess who's in the new Shinobi game.
>>20927 That's a look of horror and hubris that only a microwave-enthusiast Echidna that's witnessed his kid put grapes in the microwave can produce Seriously, don't put grapes in the microwave! It makes plasma, which is not something you want anywhere near you >>20929 >Also guess who's in the new Shinobi game. Looks really good! The handdrawn 2d look is great, and what they should've done as Mania 2 instead of Superstars
>>20938 >Sonic buys bootleg merch of himself because he genuinely likes 'em and will buy bootleg merch of his pals much to their humor/chagrin >Eggman buys bootleg merch of himself do he can burn it because screw anyone else making fun of him >Vector finds out who's selling bootleg merch and is ready to sue/wants his cut
