I'll argue yes, because the idea is structurally sound for an interesting viewpoint: someone good created by someone evil. That is a classic setup you can milk for all sorts of soap opera drama and interesting character conflicts that make a comic book run.

If she were introduced in Archie, with old Archie writers, she would have gotten loads of development and content. They woulda milked that drama like crazy. We would have gotten an Evil Belle arc, a redemption arc, a courtroom drama, a clue parody, we woulda gotten Belle with huge titties drawn by Butler, we would have had it all within 12 issues!

However, we exist in this hell called the present, where Sonic is treated more like a mascot than a character, subject to corporate oversight and heavy-handed management, and a stable of writers that seem reluctant to push such an emotional envelope, to put it charitably. When the majority of the characters in a comic have to be blandly relatable, safe, and level-headed, any fun storytelling possibilities with Belle can't flourish.

IMO, anons flocking to altchans have seen just how not-shit imageboards can be and I'm guessing many just aren't coming back. Everyone now knows that the schizos and funposters are under the active protection of 4chan's jannies and that's not going to change. If anything, they're now even more concentrated. It'll likely always be the largest imageboard by post volume, but its cultural relevancy is dwindling. After all, an imageboard is only as good as the quality of its users

Yeah, the art's great and I absolutely love the character designs, but it felt like I was reading a wiki, not a comic. You can get away with it in traditional comics, but can't really get away with that amount of story decompression in a webcomic or graphic novel. I posted about it in the IDW thread but it's fast, but not as fast at /sthg/. The main benefit is it's mostly anons from /sthg/, but without the bot/schizo/shit-posters. I've posted there a few times and the captcha's much easier than 4chan's. Threads outside the generals are pretty slow, but I think that's how they prefer things

While /fast/ itself is fine, the main problem is that 8chan's way more lax on what's allowed to be posted. I visited one of the MLP boards and immediately ALT F4'd since it had multiple thread OPs with IRL horse genitalia. I shudder to think what some of the other boards have ;_;

I do love the early 00s style of Sonic art. I have no idea if she's holding the end of a gamecube controller or one of those brain jack cables from Ghost in the Shell

Her Heroes outfit is seriously underrated, much more futuristic spy than the original, even if the original is more iconic. I'd have kept the love hearts on the shoe tips though. Switching to wedges from heels was a mistake, I'd have gone for a box heel like the original

Oh and fun fact: Sonic Channel is the only official media that still draws Rouge with cleavage. It's not as horny as their early art (particularly December 2013), but it's still there at least

Forgot to mention that Rouge's Heroes outfit is also nice because it's a much closer match to the design language of Shadow and Omega. The gloves and shoes are similar to Shadow's, and the square kneepads and belt with tech pouches match Omega's waist. The purple main color with pink and white highlights also works better with Shadow and Omega's black main color with red and white (and gold) highlights

Finally got round to rewatching Owls of Ga'Hoole and my opinions still stand. Soren X Gylfie otp, Klud was down bad for Nyssa and his villain arc was done well if could've used some more time showing him and his brother before his joining the racial supremacy movement and there's some other faults the film has but overall I still have a soft spot for it...though Rio is still my fave animated bird film.

should be a hard rule for Sonic characters going forward that they can't be mammals, marsupials or rodents since have enough of their kind in the setting, if I was head of Sega/Sonic Team that'd be my tyrannical mandate besides curvy babes.

Also yeah honestly i'd be cool with more Zeti material since the Black Arms are the only other notable alien antagonists and they have actual variety. A new Zeti villain who isn't in a gang like the Deadly Six could instead of being a Social Darwinist like them instead be someone who's deal is instead empowering others with his powers but tends to make them indulge in their worst habits and lose inhabitations. Like obviously still a dangerous villain but one who genuinely wants to help others with his methods with no self benefit.

I like the Ga'Hoole movie too (good cast and gorgeous visuals, decent story), but some of the fantasy dialogue is a bit odd.

>use "moon-blinking" as the fantasy term for hypnotizing

I don't envy the actors who have to deliver crazy fantasy dialogue like that. Alec Guinness complained about the "fairy tale mumbo-jumbo" from the Star Wars OT, I can only imagine how he'd react if you asked him to talk about "midichlorians" or "moon-blinking."

One thing I liked about the Sonic movies was that the characters could sell dialogue about "warp rings" and "Chaos energy" without sounding silly.

It's funny to me that this film is when Snyder peaked, that aside yeah the visuals and acting for the film is utterly top notch and managed to make the characters really likeable despite some not getting to do much or the animation doing a lot to sell them though I do think Soren is a really solid main character all around. Actually did remind me how Longclaw is a very Ga'Hoole esque character and that direction really is what helped me define her in my AU stuff/redesign for her. Might be fun to commission her in full bird armour with the talon knifes which also props to the film for figuring how to do action scenes with birds and how to make them able to use weapons. Also I've not read the books so can't say much on how Ga'Hoole changes or adapts things but I know the books are such more violent and have even more crazy fantasy dialogue like a bird telling someone to "sprink on their spronk" if I recall correctly

Yeah, none of his superhero films were all that interesting IMO. I liked Zod from Man of Steel, but the film itself is deeply flawed.

Yeah, the first version of this comic was scar-free and had a really nice and unique artstyle too. With the reboot, the art was much more closely aligned with the Evan/Gigi-D style. The comic still looks good, but I don't think artists aping other styles ever looks as vibrant and dynamic as when they do their own thing. My speculation is that realignment to the new style also led to the chest scars. What's really weird is that Sonic's moms refer to him as male even as an infant, which just makes no sense. Infants don't even have object permanence or language, let alone a gender identity

In archie: battle birds, that bat king from Journey to the East who called him useless or weak or whatever and noone contradicted this, Sally when he was brown, Antoine in the Universe arc, Fiona, Sonic secretly, Eggman under Ian (there was a Penders story where Eggman complimented Tails’ abilities in his private logs), mogul under Ian (says Sonic beat him when it was Tails lol), Scourge, Tails himself
In IDW: Kit (brainwashed to do so, I wish he had an actual reason), Surge in an offhand way, probably the DC heroes who ignore him, even Cyborg calls his tech inferior, the Witchcarters who all think Sonic is a bigger threat even at the end
In Games: Eggman (aside from Chronicles, he calls Tails a waste in Frontiers and gets embarassed having to fight just him in Adventure games, also never made a proper Metal Tails)
I think the Game Battle Birds respect him. Speedy gave him a chaos emerald for winning their fight, and the final 2 bosses are very dramatic so they take him seriously

Hey it's Luger, one of my favorite obscure Echidnas, and the reason Remy has such big eyebrows! He has such a cool design and interesting backstory, and yet only ever showed up in a few flashbacks. I was really hoping he and Knuckles would've teamed up when Knuckles turned green and tried going back in time to reunite the Echidnaopolis with the Dark Legion

Love the tidied up history here. For those that don't know, a lot of Julie-Su's history was obscured with more than one memory wipe (that were never satisfactorily resolved IMO), and drip-fed across several disjoint issues and specials. You pretty much have to have encyclopedic knowledge of Archie (or read the wiki) to have all this laid out as straightforwardly. It's also nice to see Julie-Su's adopted parents not looking all melty

I think you mentioned it a while back, but I'm assuming you're not going to have Julie-Su and Knuckles be distant cousins? It's probably for the best, and means you won't have to deal with the time dilation of the Twilight Zone, which ran at 1/4th the speed of regular time. Interestingly, Penders is planning on making Edmund and Dimitri friends/colleagues and not brothers in his Knuckles reprint

The more I read this comic the more it fascinates me. It so closely fits the same fancomic niche as your two comics, but orientated around Sonamy and the reboot instead of Sonally and the preboot. Still, at least we get a peak at what your comics could be like if you ever went over to the dark side!
Oh, and it's Princess Alucion, the original OC echidna from the French comic that somehow predicted the events of Sonic Adventure 5 years before it was released! She never really got used much in fancomics since anything you can do with her you can do with the more well known Tikal. In a way, she's like the Omelette to Tikal's Sage

The TL;DR version is that Ken's dad wouldn't let him live in the house past 18 and would belt him because it was the 60s/70s, and Ken forgave him. This is totally equivalent to performing crazy chaos experiments on your son and faking your suicide so you can abandon him in the wilderness when he's like 10 years old.

And since Ken forgave his dad, that means neither Ken's dad nor Locke did anything wrong, and neither has anything to apologize for.

I've read through it and yeah, his father expected him to move out at 18 and employed physical discipline, which was sadly standard fare for parenting back then. Penders did say that his father was happy for him to move back home after his military enlistment, and actually did take a keen interest in Penders' life, albeit without ever expressing it. In that sense, I can see how Penders always had Locke watching over Knuckles from the shadows, but the whole faking your own suicide and abandoning your son to the wilderness is a bridge too far

An aside, but parents not being able to adequately communicate with their children is a huge part of Archie Sonic. We see it with Locke, Max, and Tails' parents, but even Uncle Chuck, as Sonic's surrogate parent, suffers from this

The topic of forgiveness is a complex one. Most of the time, we're dealing with relatively small slights (e.g., tempers flare, things are said that aren't really meant) and occasionally larger things where there's contrition (e.g., a friend's damages your car being careless, but apologizes and has it repaired). The hardest type of forgiveness is where the damage can't be undone, and we probably should have a different word for it. In these cases, I think it's not so much absolving the person at fault, but acknowledging that you're going to move on with your life. In this context, Penders forgiving his father was imo the right thing to do. I also wouldn't have minded Knuckles forgiving Locke, but only after a long conversation where he tells Locke just how messed up his childhood was. Honestly, Flynn did a great job with Locke's death, as we finally got to see Locke realize what he'd put his son through, but also just how much he cared for him. For me, it's easily Flynn's best writing

Yeah, he never was able to pull it off in the comic, but considering how differently he raised his own kid and dotes on his grandkids, he at least got it right in his own life. So much of Penders' writing frustrates me to no end, but I genuinely am glad he's a much better father than he is a writer. The parents in Archie Sonic are interesting; because you're adding characters like that to a franchise that doesn't really have them normally. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and the rest all go on adventures and don't really have anyone waiting for them at home, so them having parents and family is something unique to Archie. It's interesting that Sonic himself has the least friction with his parents and Uncle, since he's the most independent. Maybe his parents letting him be independent is what helped him turn out so well; Tails, Sally, and Knux had more trouble with their more old-school parents.

Yeah, the Enerjak Reborn arc is my favorite Archie arc. It's got a great villain in Finitevus, Locke's death scene is a good one as you said, and watching Knuxerjak fucking wreck Eggman and the asshole Dingos was a treat. Just a good solid adventure arc all around.

That's a really good point. SoJ has no problem just ignoring the parents thing whereas the western side explicitly addresses it. SatAM/Underground has Uncle Chuck, Fleetway has Kintobar and Tails' family, and even AoStH makes it clear that Sonic is Tails' family. Boom sidesteps the issue by writing the characters as young adults and the movieverse's central theme is found family

I think Sonic has the least amount of friction with his parents because they explicitly address that they weren't around to raise him and generally treat him as an adult child that's moved back home. Sonic only ever has some minor friction with Uncle Chuck when he found out he'd been keeping his parents still being alive as Robians a secret

Yeah, I agree. I think Penders tried to address this with how Knuckles chose to raise Julie-Su differently (and how he raised his own kid irl), but Locke is still never called out for his frankly bizarre parenting decisions

Cool villain that integrates with the existing lore, resolving plot threads that have gone on for ages, minor characters getting a chance to shine, cool fight scenes, and a focus on best boy Knuckles? Sonic and Knuckles are both (very handsome) heroes with a strong moral code that rely on their physical abilities and training to save the day, but they're very different outside of that. Sonic's the Sun to Knuckle's Moon (hence their chest markings), so the way they approach things is very different. While Sonic is worldly and carefree to the point of being reckless (e.g., when he punted the conch from Eggman in Lost World), Knuckles is isolated with a sense of duty so strong it often gets him in trouble (e.g., trusting Eggman).

The movie version has a secret core of sadness over losing Longclaw, the Fleetway version is a grumpy prick, the IDW version is a preachy dolt, and the Prime version is a retard. He's been known to chill in cities and around people like Sonic Adventure, Unleashed, and Sonic X. And of course Archie Sonic would as well.
