>>25151 Johnny was a cool and reliable guy, even if he didn't stand out that much or do too much especially later on. He actually died towards the end of the series before it went to reprint hell but it did have a big impact on Sonic.
>>25162 Kek, I remember that. Johnny was a likeable enough character, but when I first read Fleetway I was surprised at how little he was actually in it.
The 35th anniversary version of the "Welcome to the World of Sonic" book was changed from the 2021 version to completely remove all of Amy's feelings for Sonic
The revisionism of Amy continues. What will they change next?
>>25166 Back on 4chan, a couple of Anons and I speculated on what Ian's Mario comic would've been like: >constant references and nostalgia-pandering like "Let's-a go, Luigi! we need to stop Bowser's attack before he turns this place into a Bob-Omb Battlefield!" >Bowser alternates between being a total buffoon and being an edgelord Villain Sue >all the non-Bowser villains are sidelined >some stupid lesbian Shy Girl and Koopa Girl OCs show up to spend every single issue crying about their irrelevant sad backstories >introduce a dozen more OCs, never focus on the huge game cast >Mario is a preachy retard, Peach is supposedly a Strong Woman but written as blandly as possible, Luigi becomes a background character >constantly quoting lyrics from "Do The Mario!" ("Mario, how do I go on from here?" "Just take one step, and then again!") >Wario is some boring mega jobber, he doesn’t steal anything, no adventures, no owning a game company, none of his friends from Warioware show up >Waluigi is bastardized into some sadsack wooby because that’s how the smash fanbase views him >the crying lesbian OCs will hang out with Waluigi all the time because someone on the staff likes him >despite being STRONG WOMYN, none of them will be able to beat any villains without all of them teaming up with Waluigi
>>25168 Oh, for sure. For all our funposting, it would've been neat to have a Mario comic. Maybe the more lighthearted stories would've suited Flynn better? After all, I've liked the Classic Sonic stories for IDW a lot better than the main ones. Flynn can actually write some fun adventures when he's not having everyone cry all the time in between song lyrics.
>>25169 Since the comics we have are what the characters do between games, etc. There would be so much that Ian could pull from Mario's history. We sometimes make fun of it, but he's good at using existing material and not too bad on making some new stuff. Maybe we could have seen characters team up when they usually don't. Throwing it out there but Peach and Wario is something I could see Ian be fun with. Again, shame it didn't happen because I would have read it, especially for the artists such as Tracy and Ben who did pitch art for this.
>>25170 >>25171 Yeah, I'd have loved to see some Archie-esque stuff where characters from wildly different games meet eachother (Wario and Peach, Paper Mario characters without the "paper vs. normal" crap, etc.). It'd have been a great opportunity for fun interactions.
And you thought Eggman was bad! Everyone’s favorite human meets half of the Freedom Fighters! The situation with the humans is so weird. You’ll find out everything about them in the next arc but this issue will give you a sampling of what to expect.
Tails got trolled got new chapters https://tailsgetstrolled.org/read.php?ch=ch29 >Amy is dead >Rouge is dead >Shadow pretty much tried to fight against the cheetah man and failed to kill him >a mysterious hooded figure is after tails >cheeta man want tails dead >Tails managed to survive a rpg blast to the chest >There is a cult that worship shadow.
>>25194 >The spotlight is on Shadow the Hedgehog in this 4th Mobian Adventure Series hardcover release. Over 280 pages collecting every story written by Ken Penders from the Archie SONIC THE HEDGEHOG series with additional material added, including unpublished scripts and a 6-page story written and illustrated by Ken that was shelved at the last minute. Contents include the entirety of SONIC issue 98, story pages from SONIC UNIVERSE issue 2 that completes the SONIC ADVENTURE 2 adaptation, stories from SONIC issues 124, 125, 145 thru 149, 157 thru 159, as well as SONIC issues 166 and 167 which were based on Ken’s unpublished scripts that are now seeing print for the first time. There’s also bonus material featured as well as artwork by Patrick Spaziante, Ron Lim, Dawn Best, Dave Manak, Jeff Axer, Art Mawhinney, Stephen Butler and Tracy Yardley.
>>25194 The art is a lot less hideous than The Lara-Su Chronicles, though Shadow's face is still not great. It's still funny how Penders is pretty much the worst ever Sonic artist, even counting all the fancomics and shit we've featured here.
>>25194 Penders makes Shadow look like he has downs. Though I like the coloring. And Newton... As in Isaac Newton? Remember Isaac, the robot who looked exactly like Gamma despite being very old? Who lore dumped to Metal Sonic and implying an ancestor of Eggman would awaken. Then Ian went and said that was all bullshit lmao
>>25199 >>25200 "The Good, The Bad, and The Unknown" was kinda interesting because it was a rare arc where Shadow got to interact a bit with the Freedom Fighters, but that's about it. Everything else about it was boring as shit and impossible to follow.
The dingoes are a military force to be reckoned with but the echidnas had the edge in technology. Now that advantage is gone and the dingoes are unstoppable. Kage couldn’t be happier but Stryker is exercising enough caution for the two of them. But is it enough?
Be Me, Whisper, Courageous Abuse Survivor and Dark Horse of the Restoration Lanolin finishes her paperwork early Finds me in the recroom emptying my poop jugs in the ballpit Starts yelling at me, saying that I'm fucking disgusting and a DEI hire Scream at her that it's all her fault for misgendering me She tells me that I need to act like an adult Cry and scream and even throw my shit jug at her She won't listen to reason She says that from now on I have to go to work like everybody else and no more mental health months off Yell at her to fuck off and go to my room Go on twitter and leak all this workplace abuse and racism I am suffering Lanolin opens the door flat out at like one AM and is really pissed, says work starts in the morning and I'm blasting Lizzo at full volume Tries to push me away from the computer, but I'm too heavy She rips my computer tower out of the wall and takes it up to her room on the top floor Knows I'm too plus sized to climb the stairs and thinks shes won Lay down at the bottom of the stairs and cry until my throat hurts Republicans like Lanolin don't think with reason Bitch has fucking overstepped her boundaries now I get an idea Pucker up my fat blubbery black ass and waddle into the Restoration kitchen Take huge shit in the microwave and set the timer for three hours, throw in the rusty spoon I scratch my asshole with An hour later hear Lanolin running across hall screaming how the whole base reeks, serves her right She's also screaming about a fire in the kitchen Can hear her crying for hours and stronk Restoration firewomen arrive Jewel is trying to boss them around and they get nothing done Thousands of dollars of damage to the building and the permanent smell of my cooked Diarrhoea Shit baked into the walls by fire Jewel says something about staging a helicarrier crash to get some insurance money back Another flawless victory for the Dark Guardian Angel of the Battlefield
>>25213 >first whole issue is spent on a chase scene >Lunar/Soleil's backstory is abruptly blurted out and then solved when they talk it out with their parents >entire third issue is a fight with an Eggbot >Sonic and Shadow are both there 2v1ing the Eggbot but somehow they need the acrobats' help despite wrecking shit like that on a daily basis >Lunar/Soleil is YET ANOTHER powerless IDW villain who wouldn't last 5 seconds against Sonic Evan Stanley cannot fucking write for comics. Like at all. Between her and Penders it's like SEGA deliberately gets the worst possible people to write Sonic comics.
>interest for soleil leading up to and into their arc Everyone was thirsty for a playful they/them thief, someone like Rouge without the huge bazongas, and we got a kid who was beefing with their parents.
>>25214 And I thought Evan's "racing" arc was bad. Her constant fumbling makes me even more uninterested >>25215 Not to be that type, but part of their unpopularity was the pronouns thing
>>25216 Surge still has the endless porn to keep her relevant. >>25217 >Not to be that type, but part of their unpopularity was the pronouns thing The pronouns was known pretty early and they were still getting plenty of fanart. Soleil being a nothingburger of a character is what killed the hype. The Sonic fandom was ready and willing before the issues came out. A noticeable number of artists like to make Sonic trans or like Barry because they're nonbinary(?). I doubt we'll see Soleil in any LGBTQ+ fanzines.
>>25217 The thing with Evan is that it's clear that she'd rather be writing some LGBTQ High School AU where Genderqueer Silver needs therapy and Sonic has to summon up the courage to ask Shadow-senpai to the prom. So whenever somebody asks her to write an action story, it falls flat on its face.
If you give her 10 issues to write it, it'll be overlong and limp. If you give her 3 issues, it'll be unearned and abrupt. The pacing's a big problem with IDW, but the main one is that Evan's focus is on boring crap like a teen getting their phone taken away by their overbearing parents, or Surge crying in a gutter somewhere.
>pronouns I wouldn't have minded that so much, or NiteXDon, or TangleXWhisper, just so long as the cast went on exciting adventures and fought villains. Fleetway had the lez-ventures of Amy and Tekno, and it wasn't half as boring as IDW, even in the comic's "dark age" after Eggman took off. I mock "Genderqueer Silver" and the "LGBTQ High School AU," but the problem is the "High School AU" part, really.
I've never had an issue with The Gays, but if you have to choose between them and fun adventures, I'm gonna pick the latter. Especially in a Sonic comic.
All Soleil needed to be was an acrobat turned thief that liked stealing for the sake of it. Maybe give them a sympathetic reason like using the money to support an orphanage. Right when Sonic/Tails and Shadow/Rouge get close to catching them and retrieving the chaos emerald, have Eggman attack in his mech and when the fights over the heroes win, Soleil loses the chaos emerald to Sonic who says he'll put in a call to the Restoration about saving the orphanage. The end. Basic as all hell but it'd still be an improvement. If it were me I'd probably be more ambitious and add more to it than that.
>>25220 My concern with Soleil would be differentiating them from Rouge. We already have one sketchy anti-heroic thief, it could be tough to pull off another one. I like your "orphanage" idea though; it reminds me of Stray Dog from Usagi Yojimbo, who actually co-existed well alongside the similarly roguish Gen.
>>25219 >TangleXWhisper The worst offender of this crap. Even in the fucking tie-in comic, Tangle is there to be a tissue for Whisper. Making them lesbians is detrimental, more so to Tangle who's stuck to that shitty quiet expy
>>25222 I never even thought Tangle was character of the year, but she had a spunk and a liveliness in her first appearances. It's just sad to see her reduced to Whisper's babysitter.
Been ages since popped in here, sorry been quiet on the Hood or Zeena shilling. Just been busy with brothers wedding, getting hyperfixated on Dinosaurs for first time in ages since was a child and just not really using 4chan much lately since not many threads of interest. Hope everyone else is going well and had a nice Easter.
>not really using 4chan much lately since not many threads of interest Yeah, 4chan sucks now. The same threads get spammed over and over, and when you leave them to try to discuss something you like you run into some POS schizo who has devoted his entire life to ruining discussion of whatever you like.
>>25256 It's funny to think this all started cause on a whim from me seeing a thread months back I decided on binging all of the Land before time films to see if I'd still ship Littlefoot and Cera like I did when was a kid plus morbid curiosity on the movies as a whole and also cause I was watching Primal's 3rd season this year.
Honestly came out of it correct on my weird childhood ship but also genuinely being surprised how much fun had with most of the films with 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,10 and 14 I'll probably get round to rewatching again cause I found them entertaining plus lot of the films songs were actually surprisingly catchy. Afer that watched Netflix's the Dinosaurs documentary, Jurassic Park 1, 2 and 3 plus even Primitive War since wanted my Dinosaur fix when wasn't just watching clips on youtube.
My dinosaur hot take is that I'm not fussy if they are accurate or not just as long as they are well designed, act enough like a real animal or character and if they are upfront on what they are presenting much like Peter Jackson's King Kong having deliberately fictional/fantastical depictions, Primal clearly being a send up to pulp while doing a good job with Fang as a T-Rex lead or documentaries having speculative behaviour depictions, I'm fine with anything as long as it's just done well really. Also will say I think all the findings on Spinosaurus are cool, I love that they are swimming bois plus they have their new cousin in Spinosaurus Mirabilis.
>>25255 Spider-Man threads are essentially worthless for that, I just mourned my fave character Shocker/Herman Schultz then left before it devolved as they always do.
>>25262 It is honestly kinda interesting to see an edgy 2000s antihero like Shadow interacting with goofy 90s kiddie characters like the Freedom Fighters.
>>25263 The fact that before Shadow entered Archie, there were grim backstories and events the world and people went through makes his whole deal like "so what?" was funny
>>25268 Yeah, even VECTOR was an orphaned street kid. I used to think that maybe the reason Archie Shadow was relatively friendly was that the writers couldn't justify making him angstier than the rest of the cast, but that's probably giving them too much credit.
>>25271 I really like how he's drawn here >>25273 You found him a bit dull? Personally, I found him entertaining enough as a sneaky and hammy evil wizard. That was enough to make him one of my favorite characters.
>>25274 I found everything around him to be more interesting than he was. He was an okay hammy villain, and I liked his crazy backstory as 3 evil wizards in one and his dynamic with Geoffrey, but he himself didn't really do much for me. He wasn't bad, but he felt overshadowed by characters like Scourge or Finitevus.
UUU, Tangle, I’m sad and gay Everyday-yeah-y-yeah UUU, Tangle, I’m sad and gay Everyday

UUU, Tangle, I’m sad and gay I wanna tell you I’m sad and gay I wanna cry on you night and day
>>25187 Fun was had. What the hell kind of space station is this? >>25272 He is pretty fun. >>25273 I like how hammy he can be. He feels like a Disney villain in that he's threatening yet also kind of campy. >>25274 Kakashihata really did a good job on him!
>>25275 Ooh, those are nice! A good blend of their game and comic designs. The Daisy Dukes are a good touch on Bunnie, and Antoine looks both pompous and genuinely heroic, which fits him.
When I decided to give Lara-Le super strength, I at first planned on her being a bit of a tomboy, willing to fight and even arm wrestle Mighty and Knuckles for fun. But I like her the way she was in the Archie comics and having someone with super strength but not act like the usual muscle ladies sounds better. But will this conflict force her to fight back?
>>25374 >But will this conflict force her to fight back? It's a bit of a double-edged sword. If you have an "elder" or "mentor" character like that and they don't fight, you start to wonder why. But if they do fight, you start to wonder why they can't take care of the villains themselves.
That's one thing I'll give Archie; Max and Locke weren't helpless, but they weren't on par with Sonic and Knuckles.
Also, >Remington talking to Thirstposter in the last panel
To jump on the multiple thieves in Sonic, here's an idea(s) >Rouge: We all know what she's about. Sultry, confident, actually kinda sweet when you get to know her. >Enigma: Always looking for the next big challenge. Enjoys competition. >Lunar: Kind of Robin Hood/Kind of a Thrillseaker. Will put on a show.
>>25384 Overall I found the issue meh but better than the usual borefest IDW usually is. I have no expectations of it being good but at least having some kind of action and adventure is better than nothing. >>25386 Reaction image get.
>>25386 To be fair, he showed a softer side at the end of SA2.
>>25384 >>25387 It still feels oddly decompressed, even for such a short arc. Multiple issues of people screwing around in caves while not much happens. Sage and Belle reconciling was cute though.
>>25388 >he showed a softer side at the end of SA2. Controversial to say but I was not a fan of that. As for one, it eventually lead up to the predicament he is in now. I get that even Eggman would have someone to look up to, but even for Gerald, he should've viewed him with the lens he does for everything else. Hearing that he would've killed everyone should've had this reaction >"I would've died, how dare he!" This should have tainted his view of him, further revealing that he prioritizes himself with not even his family being an exception.
>>25389 I've said this before, but Eggman's kind of a schizo character. He's more sympathetic in the movies and SA2, more evil and irredeemable in the comics, and in the games he slingshots back and forth.
What happens when you have a problematic person that’s more troublesome if they’re opposed in any way? What if they're just waiting for a reason to cause all sorts of havoc? This is an awkward situation for everyone except for Colin. Surely simply refusing to release Eggman is the best course of action! Just how dangerous can one human be?
Looks like we're going to the twitter zone today. Don't worry, we're not reading any comics by this specific person. The comics we will be covering are much more... interesting than this.
First part in what could be a non-canon(?) Sonic Side Story series called Sally in IDW! What happens when Sally finds herself in the IDW comics? How will she affect the series as it progresses? To keep things fair, she can’t use any chaos powers so she’s more like the original Sally. Will this Sonic fall for her? Sega wouldn’t like that! And even if he did, nothing would happen. She’s got her own Sonic and one is more than enough for her. What happens next? Maybe we’ll find out in the future!
https://x.com/sonic_hedgehog/status/2047797764323672170 >It's finally Friday. The weekend has begun, you have a new friend request waiting, and your new favorite song is on repeat. Life is good.
>>25520 https://x.com/MegaMan/status/2047832291259670583 This just reminds me of Archie Mega Man although I know this is because of the CrossWorlds game. A man can dream.
>>25518 By game mobian female standards, she would be a labeled a hussy for her appearance lmao. And while not in it, she does have several look-alikes, someone should compile them
>>25518 >can't use her Chaos powers Don't worry Sally, all the IDW villains are powerless losers too! Just watch out for Whisper's eye-based hydrokinesis!
In the Archie comics, Finitevus first appeared as Lien-Da’s right hand man when she was the Kommisar of the Dark Legion. They were so chummy at that time that it was believed he was the father of her future son. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that these two got together in this series. The only real difference is that the previous Finitevus was in his 30s and the figurative dark mirror of Knuckles but now he’s the same age and very literally the dark counterpart to the guardian. That’s right, Lien-Da still managed to get her much younger (but still legal) boytoy! Only thing is this is one guy she won’t be able to tie up, whip, and shock. Unless he’s into that.
>>25525 Villain couples are such an underrated and scarce thing so I give many thanks for including it. Also good choice on just having Dr Finitevus be Anti-Knuckles as it streamlines things even if his comic version still had a solid origin.
>>25525 >>25526 I'll be interested to see a fiery younger Finitevus, but I hope he still has his more calculating moments. It was fun watching him slingshot between grandiose ranting lunatic and a shrewd schemer.
>gets pegged by Lien-Da. >Unless he’s into that. Well, yeah. He's a domineering supervillain; being a nasty sub slut would be too kinky for him to resist.
Does anyone actually like this character? Because sometimes I don't think even the people working on the franchise do. I mean sheep tits got to show up in a game before him.
Now for a glimpse into the Scourge 3 & Finitevus arc! Things went a lot differently over there. Don’t ask me what all the differences are, I’m not scripting a story that won’t be shown in the comics. Just soak in the various things that are shown on this page. Just like with the grandfather guardians, I removed Ix’s long life. Someone should be able to guess who the grandfather is. In the Archie comics, the one that gave Scourge the scars on his body was Locke while fighting him and Rouge off. Also I never understood why the chaos emerald equivalent in the opposite universe was anarchy beryl. In my opinion control beryl is a more fitting name. And yes, AI Fiona and Belle are very close at this point. Which is more than what can be said about Fiona and Scourge.
