A lot of fandoms nowadays are filled with newgens that absolutely loathe standard fandom stuff like shipping or AUs and they are very vocal about it. Shipping wars in the past used to be people arguing which ship was better, nowadays it's people dogpiling shippers for daring to interpret interactions as romantic.

Yeah essentially with Sonic, no pairings will be canon ever anytime so I just see it as like what you like and if you don't like a ship then you can as long as you aren't a dick to people who do like it that aren't acting like dicks themselves. Cause to be blunt people will read any potential dynamic and interaction as a possible romance plus people will have nonsense pairs they like just cause of designs looking well together/interesting hypothetical dynamics. Shadow's Iizuka's favorite (and I suspect also his self-insert) so it'll always be more difficult to write for him if you don't gel with how he sees him. I think Ian and Evan want to write him closer to his Archie counterpart, and while I really like that interpretation, Sega definitely doesn't. Some of the other writers (e.g., the racing tie-in comic, Shadow manga, those tie-in animations for Sonadow generations) are able to portray him as a non-grump and friend-haver.
My guess is that communication between the IDW writers and Sega is just absolutely terrible, so Evan and Ian are left playing guessing games as to how Sega actually wants him portrayed

Yeah it shifted from me indulging my villain on heroine enjoyment to my villainess on hero enjoyment. Also I dunno, I just think she has a great design plus like Mordred there's enough personality for me to enjoy but also enough gaps to flesh out or think ideas for.

Also yeah Vector is being the greatest as usual, fucking love that character so much. Also yeah hard to make out the old Skeksis but I just think he has that balance of being an interesting animal while having a design that isn't to busy but not to lacking of details.

With my Sonouge leanings I see it as either a friend's with benefits deal or something like a Spider-Man and Black Cat but more playful with less baggage from each other.

Shit's basically got no story. Honestly if I could I would post an entire 100 page essay on this fucking shit ass game. I love it and hate it simultaneously.

The "lore" of the game is just crumbs that don't really add up and just serve as bait for GameTheory rip-off channels. Characters are all bland as fuck too. It's in that space where you essentially have absolute freedom with however you interpret the story and the characters because whatever you make is automatically more well-thought out and elaborate than anything in canon.

Just play dolls with these characters and remember to always draw Rodger's voluptuous ass cheeks in full detail.

Sonic and Zeena have some fun dialogue since she insults him but also clearly wants to get dat dick but doesn't let it get in the way of her villainy work while he has fun humbling her. Also yeah I love Zeena's hairstyle so much, also yeah the lips really get me going on her design also. Honestly I'll be genuinely stumped when I eventually do my own spin on her design for a comm since I don't even know what I'd tweak or change for her unlike Zazz or Zavok where I already have rough redesign ideas.

Speaking of Skeksis, age of resistance was such a great fucking show. Does a perfect job fleshing out every skek while having them all superbly voiced by incredible actors. I do wish Sonic would have more birds as I've countlessly said in countless threads.

Honestly that'd be a fun dynamic since they both have self interested motivations and luxury in mind but Zeena enjoys having it at the expense and suffering of others since she's still a sadistic Zeti while Rouge despite her selfishness does still have a heroic streak and standards. Plus it'd admittedly be a lot of fun to have them say really catty mean girl comments to one another plus he a good showcase of Rouge's better traits contrasted to Zeena's immorality.

Honestly it was very odd cause the 2 other artist I'm commissioning Zeena getting defeat sex from Sonic had no questions or hangups on. I think this specific artist just has a hard rule of only 18 confirmed characters, was kinda tempted to try and Better Call Saul my way through using examples of 2 times Sonic was like 30 and 40 in Archie but honestly artist is nice enough and it probably would've come off weird anyway. Anycase may comm them some Professor Victoria, my ocs, and the sexy version of the Duck in the ending of Chicken Little in future.

The fights aren't really the focus of the Sonic franchise, particularly the comics. The only real notable fight scenes from the comics are probably Knuckles vs. Thrash in preboot Archie and Knuckles vs. Shadow in the postboot.

Prime was fine, IMO. Season 3 was a little weak but the previous two seasons were fun.

One feeling I can't shake from not just official Sega stuff but fan content is this stagnation. Like it's the same characters, doing the same thing, acting the same way, and any AUs never progress past the one story. Or it's just gags and shipping. I feel so spoiled by Archie in that things kept changing and new characters were being introduced.

Honestly the games should try delving into an ocean setting with sea animal mobians since that'd be interesting to see how Sega would tackle the concept compared to the Archie Reboot. I'm genuinely surprised Sega hasn't tried the easy moneymaking route of high budget remakes of past games honestly, I suppose there's Sonic X Shadow Generations but I'm meaning more something along the lines of the N.Sane Trilogy, Reignited and the Gears of War ultimate edition or Halo 2's remake.

Also yeah I'd of killed for an ocean settings Sonic game on DS or Wii. Would be so easy to come up with cool level themes, crazy bosses, cool new allies or villains and just playing with Sonic having to be surrounded by the ocean depths.

You have too high of an opinion on them. They had to get fans to remake the entire 16-bit sonic engine for them to be able to do anything more than release emulator bundles. Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Panzer Dragoon, some of their biggest IPs from the early 90s, they all have to be outsourced to get new releases or remakes.

It took this long for us to get a new Virtua Fighter, and that was their #1 arcade and system seller in Japan for a decade.

It's stagnant because Sega/Sonic Team doesn't want to branch out unless it's Yakuza or Persona. The Sonic IP has multiple sources to pull from but refuse to because of jackassery. You need to adjust your monitor, I think you'll find she's light to mid-gray at most! Seriously though, they've gone for the "draw a regular Japanese lady but color her skin dark" route, which seems to be pretty popular over there. Nadia from The Secret of Blue Water is probably the most famous example, who is just Shinji from Evangelion, but with darker skin and more feminine hair

Also, judging by the straight black hair and the patterns on her clothing she's indigenous to the Americas (well, the continent on Sonic's world that includes locations from North and South America that's weirdly located where Antarctica would be). Also also, I can't believe no one noticed the sun and moon motifs on her earrings, marking her as a verified Sonknux supporter!

So aside from Archie doing something similar first, I saw it as an opportunity to put two things together. Also Hex is an island. Honestly yeah same? I've been looking around and, while I've definitely seen AUs where they make Shadow the more beastly out of the two characters, he remains the ultimate lifeform.

I've been doodling a bunch of stuff, I had an idea to use the AU to add Terios as the actual ultimate lifeform. Though I still want to tweak his design a little. I had the idea to make him resemble Eclipse a little bit more.

Also unrelated but I found out one of the submissions for the Sonic Rumble skin contest was a prototype Shadow that looked so similar to my design. I'm so mad it lost, that shit was peak! PEAK!!!

Also with Shadow specifically, I think people just assume he's kind in the JP version because he uses "boku" to refer to himself, and they were expecting him to use "ore" since that's typically how asshole characters refer to themselves in Japanese.

For those wondering, Finitevus is the Knuckles counterpart from Modius. He’s actually the one that Scourge (Sonic Side Stories Page 13) and Mephiles (Sonic Issue 8 Page 14-2) were about to name drop in other pages. He’s the same age as Knuckles and has knuckle spikes like him. In the Archie comics, Scourge got his body scars from Locke during a fight. You should be able to figure out who did that to him in these comics.

I must admit that I am a fan of girl x girl pairings but this one was unintended when deciding that Fiona and Belle would respectively be the Sally and Metal Sonic of Modius. So when the opportunity came up, I went for it. Must be awkward for Kintobar to see his daughter getting rizzed up by a robot copy of one of their enemies. And to clarify, AI Fiona does not consider Kintobar to be her father nor does he think of her as his daughter. She’s a copy of Fiona’s mind with a robot body provided by Kintobar.

Sat through both of these things, and they are decent! the first one is better, IMO. It made me wish Sonic had a world as interesting as it. I mean all the thought and care, for how a world with animals would work and playing up their traits. Sonic's world is so BORING in comparsion. And for the guy into reptiles, second movie is really cool with that shit.

I'll admit, instantly hooked into Wildehopps. But that is mostly because of the insane chemistry, which even as just friends, I'd enjoy. Again, Sonic is just lacking in that sort of thing between characters

I've not seen it yet, but the first was really fun. What we really need is a cartoon or anime that shows us more of Sonic's world, especially the animal people part. One of the Forces designers had some interesting ideas about their writing system being less complex than the humans'. It's gibberish in Forces but they actually turned it into an actual alphabet in Sonic Speed Simulator:

It could've been written a lot better, but I get the feeling the writers aren't being given much (or any) direction from Sega. They've been kinda bland in the comic, and I'm not a huge fan of them being the Chaotix' adopted dads, but they're some of the few characters that actually make the world feel lived in. Other than Vanilla, I think they might be the only characters that aren't associated with the restoration, villains, or generic villagers

Forcing what? Shadow is kind of a mean loner. That is how he is, even with the good in him. What I find odd since that issue is the amount of people so against him being actually flawed. Did you see the amount of rewrites IDW 19 got just to remove him falling to the sin of arrogance? Fans just want him to be hypercompetent with superficial flaws that don't hinder him. Which I blame on the kissing up he receives, so even the official people are guilty of that
