On the bad side, your finger can block the screen, precision is harder, and sweaty hands can make everything feel even more annoying. It’s convenient, but definitely comes with some pain. It's easier to draw lineless work than with lineart.

Some people and in the show too add lines to the ovals to makes the eyes express different things, experiment with these and see what kind of expressions you can come up with.
If you think murder drone slums are just smoggy projects, you're wrong It's fucking blight town, except the toxin snipers are murdoids that want to give you a brief but life changing struggle snuggle.

>>390110 Well, we only see the shadow people in N's memories, and everything about them is dark, including their clothes, not just their bodies, so that’s just a specific quirk of memories after Cyn, rather than the standard way drones see us.
>>390259 That would be actually great we could use new blood in these threads and this recent exposure to twitter might get some especially if they don't give a fuck.
>>390261 No, all the humans in Ns memories are deliberately edited, explicitly his memories have been edited by Cyn. Every other time we see humans such as in the lab flashback or skeletons outside they aren't blurred or shadows, they're just wearing full body garments. Normal drone vision does not censor humans, that is a specific quirk of the DDs who have had their memory tampered with. The OOC explanation clarifies it, at the time that Glitch took on Murder Drones their animators were not going to be able to make multiple human characters in Liam's style with full face rigs in time to get the show done, so they were hidden, and the team only made a rig for Cynwalker.

With her good pal Yeva at her side and Khan watching the kids, she starts heading out to various JCJenson facilities looking for anything that might get her answers.
It's on one of these trips that they get spotted. Local disassembly drone N really, really needs a few more drones to fulfill his quota, otherwise J is gonna be Mega Pissed. Spotting a pair of funky looking drones with weird sigils that make his optics glitch, he goes on the hunt- J really likes corporate stuff, maybe if he kills them AND stops them from messing with JCJenson property, she'll be even happier!
This is entirely an excuse for N, Nori, and Yeva to have fight scenes and spooky moments. It's Alien Isolation for the witchdrones and Dead by Daylight for N.

do NOT impregnate a drone. >>390381 I’d say that any sentinel drone, compared to all the other drones, would be a perfect wife material. Yes, even Elf. Yes, even the ones with the red visors. Yes, any male sentinel drone would an ideal boywife material.
There are objective reasons for this: Human-level intelligence; the status of a defender of humanity rather than a participant in a galactic genocide on the side of Robo-Satan; a lack of severe psychological issues(I mean V level); freedom from Robo-Satan’s influence. And yeah, sure, there’s a 99.9999999999% chance a sentinel drone wife would view you more as an accessory to herself than as an equal partner, but for crying out loud, they’ve earned that right simply by fighting the Devil for humanity’s survival, meaning your survival, so don’t be an ungrateful bitch and be a good human husband.
Just for sex any drone fits, from workers and disassemblers to witches and enforcers: provided you don't catch robo-syphilis from them, so any of them, except Uzi and Rachel.
>>390424 No idea, I usually draw late in the evening between chores, so time ends up heavily fragmented and thus hard to track. Also, I ran out of a specific marker a couple of times as the ones I would normally use are no longer in supply and I didn't yet figure out how long these new ones last, which meant zero progress for such day.
They'd have earned that right if they succeeded at all whatsoever. As it stands only Uzi, Nori, and Yeva(RIP) can honestly claim more credit than Anonymous Normalfag(factory worker #1478) in protecting mankind and the Sentinel Drones should rightfully be tongueing their bottomplate for it.
I have an idea for how we can get a season 2. Remember that one universal reset poster? Yeah let's do that. We all know with the way things were written that Uzi is eventually going to succumb to The Solver and vore everyone probably after N and V slaughter the last persons in the Outpost because they were hungy. So what if at the last second Uzi resisted The Solver and reformed all that assimilated data to create a new universe? This gives us the goal of stopping the cycle as The Solver is likely gonna be very pissed and want all that stuff back. Plus it gives us new ways to tell and expand the story that isn't purely restricted to Copper-9

>>390421 Your art is the most conventionally good looking art in the thread. >>390431 Yes it almost like sentinel drones break the setting. Thought of this after seeing the new Maciulek piece:
>J felt him first. Something watching her through one of those invisible, untouchable eyes. Somehow, she had almost forgotten how that felt. She wished she had. >The doorbell rang. Before she could get up, her husband was on it. The Doorman boy asked if she was home, like he didn't just stick an eyestalk into her office. Thad, God (Robo-God, whatever it is they say here) bless him, confirmed. "Thanks, Mr. Hughes," he said. >"Babe? Geist wanted to talk to you about something he said Zi told him you'd know more about. You have anything going on right now?" >Shit. >"No, send him in," J sighed. >One of his holograms walked into her home office. This one had his real self's hair. So he could hide behind it, it seemed. He radiated discomfort when he knew he could see her. "Hhhhi, Aunt J," he said. He eyed the other chair in the room. "Thanks for seeing me. Uh, is it okay if I..." >"That's what the chair is for, yeah." >"Not that," he said as he shrank down, "I mean... like, not with the hologram..." >J looked up from her desk. "You come into here through the floor vent?" >He winced. "Yeah..." >"Sure." >Geist stood a little straighter. "Uh, could you... not look, while I...?" >Without a word, J put all seven eyes facing the corner behind her. A crackle rang through her office. She spun her chair around. Geist filled the room even after he shrank down some more, coiling up around himself. Two human hands emerged and started tapping their index fingers together. "Uh, Mom told me one time that when she was my age-" >J's eye twitched. >"-you, or actually this thing she doesn't like talking about it she said it was inside your body, turned you into..." He grimaced. "Something like me." >That night came back to J in an instant. >"And, like, were you 'there' when it did that? Awake? Or did it put you somewhere else while it used your body? Because if you were awake while it was doing that... what did... what did being something like me feel like...?"
>>390459 Michelangelo would draw better drones then them most likely unless they play to the strength of their styles.
Drawfags vs Michelangelo, I don't know any art history edition
Fugue vs Michelangelo Fugue could win by making some not quite schizo art that's really expressive Amyanon vs Michelangelo Michelangelo wins because he can draw realistic drones better Pehonixanon vs Michelangelo Phoenix can win by making some hard sci-fi art that is belivable and respects the laws of physics Liam Vicker vs Michelangelo Liam is so straight he can't draw or write men so he gets to paint the 16th chapel with sexy monster girls that want to kill him instead of buff men Fiend vs Michelangelo Fiend can win by playing into the shock and dark aspect of her drawings Maciulek vs Michelangelo Sadly Michelangelo is too powerful because he painted a building in real life Nuke vs Michelangelo Nuke can win by drawing women lusting after gay-ish men, this might scare Michelangelo because he might be gay Armageddonc104 vs Michelangelo Michelangelo is confused, draw Scribbles vs Michelangelo Scribbles is too determined to lose, nobody wins Ja-sin vs Michelangelo Ja-sin has fun drawing Telis, Michelangelo doesn't know how to use ms pait so she wins by default Bfganon vs Michelangelo We couldn't find any records in our archives of what happened that day, only that it was maybe funny but now its not that funny Zxxxart_(twitter) vs Michelangelo Made on model animated 3d drone porn, Michelangelo wins by drawing it on paper because there aren't any more V animations.
>>390482 No offense but no. I don't think any drawfag could legitimately be better than Michelangelo. If he were alive today and we got him into Murder Drones his ass would not only paint the most accurate replication of a show scene you had ever saw on canvas, but also articulate and design a blueprint for a fully functional Worker Drone
>>390485 (me) Correction Leonardo would develop the Drone blueprints although Michelangelo was intelligent and could arguably do the same if he so desired, but he would probably more likely figure out the structural layout of the Outpost and then replicate it to scale and perfect design

>>390467 >don't fight(they loop you and win) >don't run(they're faster) >don't see through your puppets(it's your brain, so you probably get bootlooped + have absolutely no room to test whether that's true) >don't chase them(they live on the special sentinel planet that kills you instantly[Harper] or explodes[Phoenix]) >don't use holograms(camera eyes = bootloopable) >always wear sunglasses(or else) >don't design better drones(Sentinels = super verisons of your physically impossible MDs anyway, so making better chassis = humans get even MORE superior super soldiers) >don't let the SPECIAL OPERATIONS SOLDIERS of your enemy(amazing stealth, high speed, best possible equipment) get close to You(giant beacon of Solver, trackable down to the milimeter through your witches WHICH THEY ALREADY HAVE CAPTURED) or they'll jump you in the dozens >don't let them hide(in space)(with invisibility tech) >don't posess them(can't) >don't Solver them(can't) >don't infect them indirectly(they explode) >don't starve their supply lines(infinite energy = infinite food + resources, true of both Phoenix and Harpanon) >don't have ears(infasound Sentinels = Phoenix canon) >also you know what: just don't have eyes either, they're not worth the risk(no idea what range the bootloop works at + all it takes is literally one failure to entirely end the war)
What CAN Cyn do to avoid this? If Cyn has any limits at all on her abilities(including being vulnerable to the Bootloop), then Sentinel Drones are bullshit. Humans have every ability + reason to hail mary those things at her en-masse. Furthermore Cyn's only show provided answer to them(infinite DDs) forces her to sit her godly ass down and play Logistics forever rather than acting out her in-show personality of "arrogant godling" and do things directly. Maybe Cyn-upon-her throne is interesting to you, but in my eyes it makes everything less special when Uzi isn't the break in the pattern.
>>390491 >What CAN Cyn do to avoid this? Unironically: Act cute and hide in a box. >Maybe Cyn-upon-her throne is interesting to you She's not I just enjoy the setting and don't think too much about it
>>390491 The raptors basically couldn't stop her if she stopped fucking around, but that is just so BOOOOOORING, fucking with N and pretending the raptors are a threat is just so much more fun.
>>390491 >What CAN Cyn do to avoid this? Not actually physically show up, just send enough DD squads to overwhelm humanity's defenses? Kill them from a distance? Not use her eyes? >Humans have every ability + reason to hail mary those things at her en-masse. Phoenix's go insane on a regular basis and require an alloy that's extruded from captive Witches at a very slow rate. They literally cannot churn out base Sentinels, the immunity code is one-in-a-billion. >sit her godly ass down and play Logistics forever She did this up until halfway through the show and her showing up in person was considered a unique circumstance.
>>390491 You made up at least half of the sentinel raptors' capabilities. Same goes for the humans' abilities. And you deliberately downplayed Cyn's power, despite THE SHOW explicitly demonstrating what she’s capable of: namely, that she is a god. In terms of power, Cyn is literally on par with a god. Sentinels can't lock her down; she moves at any speed she wants and can create matter out of thin air. Damn it, she can destroy planets in seconds just by hurling [null] orbs at them, and that’s just what we’ve seen. If really think about it, she has virtually no limits. Sure, she can be neutralized with a patch, but just try installing a patch on a goddamn god.
Rewatch the show so you don't make such blunders again.
>>390505 Literally because shes playing with the food. We know from the way J acts in the latest bit of background story that Cyn showing up in person is very abnormal. She was there basically to gloat, play around, and then deliver the coup-de-grace. She got setback because she spent all of her interactions with N and Uzi playing instead of actually fighting. You remember how basically the first thing she does when she gets into arms reach of both of them is just rip their cores straight out and then try to eat them? If she weren't playing she could have just crushed the core in her fist and KILLED them, instantly, for a few seconds each both of them were completely helpless and lived only because Cyn decided to torment them rather than eliminate them efficiently.
>>390504 Doll can do all of that too but she's dead and Cyn lost to Uzi who's a normal worker drone. Therefore Cyn was just a normal solver user and not something special.
>>390505 My guess? Liam wrote the AS as a pure bodyjacker and/or needing a ritual to consume a planet, but then he thought up the "character we thought was a human is revealed to actually be a robot in a skinsuit" reveal visual and wrote the Lord English HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO OUTRUN ME WHEN I AM ALREADY HERE? twist in to accommodate that without thinking of "So why is it fucking around like this?" Cue fans coming up with "Le Cynessa is just wacky and randumb XD and that's why she's not pressing the I Win button".
>>390509 Doll was dying a painful death caused by the Solver, mutating in response to even the most trivial things like her mothe. This, incidentally, might explain why Yeva was killed by V: she simply couldn't use the solver anymore, as doing so would have killed her. Not even the mass consumption of her classmates could help her.
Uzi won because Cyn was playing with her, not fighting her. She spent literally all her time with Uzi, from their first meeting right up until the moment Uzi devoured her singularity, simply goofing around, and that proved fatal for her.
>>390490 >Vs Berry Michelangelo would lose his mind at how incomprehensible Agro-C lore is. >Vs Dust He would question why someone would love their paintings that much.
I love how many plot holes this series has that need headcanons to fill and/or can only be explained without raising further questions by out of universe things.
>>390510 Apparently not reliably, she shrugs off magnetism and at least artificial UV light from what we see of Uzi and Nori's possessions when she actually applies some effort. Her regeneration is also instantaneous compared to the DDs and Witches who can be incapacitated for minutes to hours depending on how much of their body is destroyed. You are trying too hard to rationalize and box in her power set, what the show actually shows us is that her limitations appear to be mostly arbitrary and apply much more strongly to her minions than to her. Ex: Uzi cannot use her Solver powers at all while magnetized, but once Cyn possesses her body she uses solver powers instantly and casually to destroy multiple sentinels and eat a hole into the exam room wall. Ex2: Nori halfway possessed gets smashed flat and burned by the contraption the Cabin Fever scientists use I guess as a failsafe against possession, by the time Mitchel runs back and forth to fetch Yeva a fully possessed Nori has slaughtered all but one of the researchers and bored a hole straight to the core of the planet, destabilizing it and causing that giant eruption we see in the beginning of the show which also destroys and collapses part of the lab.
>>390511 It’s all just all the show, lol. More than half of everything in MD operates on the "that's cool" and "don't think about it too much" principle. We’re the ones obsessing over logical justifications for everything, while Liam is just telling stories without getting bogged down in the details. Plus, you have to factor in that he was rewriting the plot on the fly.
>>390516 Yes. I remember Alice taking her out with an EMP, though that’s debatable, because we didn’t actually see the EMP work on her. Sentinels were shining lights on her, and she was just looking away.
>>390526 Once again, anon accuses Solver War of something, and once again, other anons use the show itself to prove otherwise. This happens regularly, and on the whole, it can be described as a discussion of the canon, since the conversation always centers on what actually takes place in the series, and, primarily, on Cyn herself.
>>390530 Fuck, did I actually forget that? Lol, for some reason I thought she was right with N and V. Then again, it just goes to show that Cyn is a goddamn god who just likes to goof around.
List of stuff to talk about that we haven't talked about much for a rainy day >doors >keybugs and robo roaches >copper 9's other industires >the wd revolution >why was a cathedral put in a cave >worker drone medicine and home remedies >Thad's shindig next week
>>390523 No, both she and Uzi casually throw black holes that bust holes clean through Copper-9, when they clash and their attacks are deflected and skip off the planet they blow out crater scars that are later visible from orbit.
Hello, more Gurps stuff DDs this time, I admit I may have overdid them a bit, they can carry half a ton of kit and the rules I'm using use movement as the initiative modifier so they have +30 (And that's 30yards/s | ~100Km/h of movement), decided to not give them any built in weapons other than the tail and teeth to at least pretend there is some balance, very surprised how little they weight with all those parts. BTW there was someone who wanted more rpg content, if I don't get over my writing block I will probably be doing some solo play, is anyone interested in me dumping what happens?
>>390535 Based on the sentient vehicles we see, and that robo-roaches are around even in Ns memories I would guess that some level of AI was spread among a LOT of different varieties of robots and appliances alongside Worker Drones. They might be the most popular and widely used humanoid robot, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were large varieties of other kinds of robots involved in every day life, possibly its a Blade Runner situation of humans replacing biological life they exterminated with robotic replacements, possibly its just clever engineers making mechanical critters of all shapes and sizes for different tasks. Roaches make pretty good sense, they are small, can get most anywhere, if they just have some kind of universal recycling system in them, they could make very efficient cleaning robots if you don't mind them being underfoot. Cheap to manufacture in huge numbers, easy to store in bulk and deploy in environments too cramped or dangerous for people. Can apparently also be used to transmit messages when there's no wireless network available, act as cameras, carry electronic passkeys, etc.

Like I said I'm not talking about the raptors: I'm talking about SDs and the threadlore around them
>sound-based bootloop Canon to Phoenix's "Intoner" class
>infinite energy + food Not only canon, but a critical worldbuilding pillar of Harper sentinels(its how they feed Planet Sentinel). Also canon to Phoenix lore last I checked (for some reason) despite having no indications that exists outside of Solverdrones as a direct result of their Solvering in the series proper
>invisibility(complete, including to esoterica like heat sensors) Elf
>can't be solvered/hacked/possessed/infected Literally *the* critical point of Sentinel Drones lore
>better than DDs Also crucial to SD lore
>bootloop through cameras/possessions Maybe canon maybe not, but certainly something Cyn could never afford to test(because if it works then she's fucked forever and even if it dosent the mere fact she was stupid enough to take the risk of checking means she's going to let her guard down and get #Sentineled at some point)
>tracking through Solverdrones All but explicitly canon(see: Nori)
>moves at any speed *makes short range teleports.* that can telefrag her. and can't outrun(taking Doll as our example) a dedicated DD much less the significantly faster SDs
>makes matter from thin air >has virtually no limits Was my whole point: the ONLY way she can beat SDs is either if they can't hurt her at all(specifically bootloop not working) or if she sits back and outproduces them forever. If she has ANY vulnerability to their primary weapon system(as blocking the Sentinel flashes with her hand would indicate) then she's stuck in Cyn's Castle building DDs/ships all day while she abuses her ONE advantage(because SDs otherwise make humanity superior in every way) to win. Either that or mass [Null] bombardment(equally unsatisfying)
>>390552 Well, if you're talking about Sentinel drones, then yes, they are immune to Solver, that’s a cornerstone of their lore. They are essentially refined versions of disassembly drones, and yes, humanity possesses technology on the level of Elf’s invisibility, albeit in limited quantities. But that doesn't change the fact that you're contradicting the show when discussing Cyn's abilities and limitations.
We saw Cyn teleporting without restriction, we saw that she is unaffected by magnets, EMP blasts, or anything else that might otherwise stop witches or disassemblers. The only thing that worked was the patch, the very patch she destroyed in an instant.
She has no limits. While both Doll and Uzi are constrained, she can do anything. So, whatever humanity might have, it’s useless against Cyn, after all, there’s nothing that can stop her. And you also forgot that she’s a sort of otherworldly centipede, or, honestly, just God knows what.
>>390549 Actually that one is secondary and only for combat, the primary cyber brain is in the core alongside an additional 80000KW battery (The primary Cyber brain is also small). Hope that the ~18 hour battery life will do the heavy balance lifting. Also since I want to fulfill my wild desire for a hex crawl with base building this is the planet map I will use (I'd post the file and not a link but if it's not an svg it weighs 100Mb and I want a picture that stays on topic) https://files.catbox.moe/f2ql7t.svg
>>390552 The intoners sonic boot loop is significantly less potent than the gargoyle flash. It takes time, and can only completely stun worker drones or feral zombie drones, it will only hinder DDs, I never speculated about its effects on primary hosts but following the trend of less effectiveness it’s something Cyn or Uzi would just be able to ignore. >infinite energy But sharply limited ability to harness energy, Sentinel Drones weapons and flight and subjugate solver abilities all generate a lot of waste heat that can quickly build up and exceed their ability to reject it, beyond a certain threshold this will incapacitate or destroy them. Their gun and energy weapons are stored in hammer space the same way DD weapons seem to be, however they have strictly limited supplies of ammunition, they are reliant on conventional manufacturing and logistics for reloads. They are better than DDs in a straight fight but they cannot regenerate their armor, their repair nanites are also not unlimited, once exhausted they cannot regenerate damage at all. They can’t regenerate period if an entire limb is amputated or they’re decapitated or bisected or partially disintegrated. They don’t respawn, once destroyed they’re just gone. Only about 10,000 total were ever built, and half of them were lost in a single pitched siege. SDs are only maybe faster than DDs in straight line, cruising flight, and only for so long as they can compensate for the heat generated by their repulsion motors, they are still subject to inertia and drag more so than DDs, they cannot perform 90 degree hard turns or come to a sudden stop from rapid flight, they move more like real birds in subsonic flight and like conventional aircraft at higher cruising speeds.
>>390561 There no indication that Cyn only has 26 DDs total. Even if she only had 26 individuals to start with J explicitly mentions clones, not just replacements but duplications. Considering the scale at which Cyn is demonstrated to be able to operate, there is no reason to assume that it’s just her and 26 DDs at all times. By the time she arrives on Copper 9 there are apparently no other strongholds of human or drone resistance against her, so there’s no need to keep any giant force of DDs with her, and on the practical side, the animators were simply incapable of portraying any kind of big scale battle because of the limitations on the number of available character models. I think the most characters we ever see on screen are in the prom episode with all the worker students in one room.
>>390562 >be me, DD >die >respawn "Angry Expression. Do Better" >teleported to the battlefield >get to see 1,000 smarter, stronger, more skilled, tirelessly loyal, and better equipped version of myself getting ready to jump me >they use their instant KO button >I freeze >the last thing I hear before slumbering forever is a calm "maybe we should retain their bodies alive to prevent respawn..."
>>390564 >J explicitly mentions clones As part of the JCJensen bit. Everything else indicates that this isn't cloning, it's the AS endlessly stuffing souls it owns lock stock and barrel into new bodies whenever they die.
>>390567 The show doesn't say she can't create clones, so you can't claim she's unable to do so simply based on the principle of "I don't like that idea."
So why do all Worker Drones have cores that are arguably connected to The Solver? What is the point of writing that if you don't do anything with it? Why do they even have that? How did JCJenson come into possession of such technology if they were a cleaning product first company? Why did Liam Vickers essentially write "evil shadowy figures appesr during the credits of one episode and do a manical laugh only to never be seen again after said episode"?
>>390573 What was the point of including the patch sideplot if it didn't matter to begin with? What was the point of Alice's character if the things she said weren't accurate information? What was the point of the N maybe having tried to kill Nori plot?
>>390573 >So why do all Worker Drones have cores that are arguably connected to The Solver? To power their CPUs. >What is the point of writing that if you don't do anything with it? It's why zombie drones are a thing.

Cyn never came there + food is arguably THE most important resource in a war) >and also there's NO drones either for some reason(killed by the dronemurder dogs, but that's only implied by reading part 365/475 of Berry's maybe-canon omakes) >and there's an insect parasite that matches the Solver! >and a plant >and a mushroom >and maybe also made of oil?(Berry was explicitly self sutaining last I checked) >and it craves its queen! >who never comes up again(not even sure that's still canon) >also dosen't need the queen to reproduce at all(Strawberry spores + clones) >also is telepathic I think?(that might be a Solver thing though) >and is unremovable! despite Strawberry's best efforts!(why? maybe relatdd to the plant/mushroom part?) >and Strawberry captures everyone landing on the planet(how tf does she navigate the surface?) and puts them in a hotel! >and parasites them!(unwilling on her part) >but never reproduces with them!(despite this being the parasite's main goal? I think?) >also may/may not have many other abilities based on what is or isn't canon to the Berryverse
NTA but I see how it can get confusing, especially if you follow it in passing rather than dedicating significant focus to it.
>>390574 Why did they buildup Nori to be this evil character only for her to be nothing like that? >>390575 But we don't actually see that in the show. Uzi isn't one and I'm pretty sure Nori isn't somehow
>>390573 >>390574 >>390577 What was the point of the whole V fakeout sacrifice and eternal dream song? What was the point of J doing the office larp instead of literally anything else? Why did J even have that officer worker personality as a maid? Why didn't N remember being a pilot was he killed somehow and cloned during his time on Copper-9 if so why erase that memory?
>>390582 Why would they write Khan as a completely irredeemable asshole dad who wrote a book just talking shit about his daughter and wanting to fuck doors and then abandon that
>>390560 Every action has a reaction, and energy cannot simply vanish. That’s a fundamental principle of our world, and it seems Cyn’s toys (aside from herself, for the record) abide by it, at least to some extent.
I like to think the main difference between sentinel drones and disassembly drones isn't just physical superiority, but software superiority too. I don't think Cyn is some kind of programming genius, so it’s easy for me to assume she just vibe coding the disassemblers' OS, making it a total piece of shit that runs on the logic of "there's enough RAM," basically just like AAA+ gaming our days. Meanwhile, Holly, a scientist with virtually limitless resources and a team of some of the smartest people of the mankind, simply cleaned up that mess of bullshit and created a proper operating system.
That's why sentinel drones simply require far, really far less energy than disassembly drones, which might explain why sentinel drones are actually somewhat cold to the touch, whereas disassembly drones can die from overheating.
>>390584 What was also the point of mentioning mutations and zombie Drones only to do literally nothing with that information? Solver hosts don't fall into those categories from what we've seen in show
>>390571 As I said, you can't simply claim she can't do it based on the logic of "I don't like that idea," while at the same time there are plenty of indirect hints suggesting she can, because, for starters, she faces no limitations to this.

>>390586 To explain Cyn(and that they knew about events like her for a long time beforehand) and the connection between the Solver and all drone cores(since all drones can become ZDs)
>>390576 >The planet was attacked by Disassembly Drones. Cyn originally wanted to come down there, but the Copper-9 fever lab experiments caught her attention more. The planet was left in such a devastated state and filled with Maksur mutants that everyone there either died or fled. It wasn't actually abandoned, which is why so many resources were left behind.
>There are still surviving drones who either somehow survived Berry's assimilation or managed to self-reboot. They're basically normal zombies. [I don't write much about them because they're going to die anyway.]
>The organism was mutated by the Solver to become self-sustaining. This part is still WIP, but remember the Left Hands parasite from Design?
>The clones are her dead coworkers, with Berry controlling/possessing them as a callback to Cyn's possession.
Anon... the Sentinel Drones were shit out in a year, and amidst an literal war of extinction, and with the main programming goal of "break this Solverbot till it can't be a person anymore." Meanwhile Cyn actually DID spend (implied) years getting her DDs "right" in the basement.
If anything its the SD OS running off of a combination of "I'll fix it later" and "fuck it good enough" while the DDs run perfectly(in Cyn's eyes) on TempleOS. Maybe Cyn's "perfect" isn't "combat ideal" (heightened pain receptors! a sense of smell!) but it's still going to be "better" then the SDs.
I'm saying I don't see any in-universe reason Berry wouldn't be. Especially given how much the "feed" part of the Parasites "feed and breed" instinct seems to drive her actions explicitly against her will.
Maybe it just dosen't see drones as appropriate "partners" but it seems like this should at least partially determine how she behaves given how much of the parasite's (very limited) backstory is devoted to the subject.
> friend introduces me to a new card game > "okay, im gonna try something kinda themed and for-fun to try out the rules, mess around a bit" i say > like a buffoon > he builds his deck with a plan in mind > we get into the game > hes a snowball deck that lets him spawn two expensive and incredibly strong monsters that can obliterate me > i get my own superstrong monster out > he changes the rule-interpretation midgame because "yeah i just realized this is op lol" so now both our monsters are neutered but he has two of them > eventually decide im not having fun and gg out > "i mean, you didnt build your deck with any real plan beyond 'cool'" go into the cynhole
>>390593 I don't remember it ever being mentioned that sentinel drones were deployed a year into the war, besides, Holly had over 20 years to perfect them, and Phoenix himself noted that they felt cold to the touch. Based on that, and the canon fact that disassembly drones overheat and die without consuming oil, I concluded that sentinel drones possess vastly superior programming. As I mentioned, it’s a lot like modern programming, where they often churn out crap with the attitude: "If it doesn't work, just buy a new computer."
After all, the entirety of humanity worked on them, whereas Cyn is portrayed as someone who prefers cooking up terrifying and horrific stuff rather than anything logical or properly functional.
>>390597 Am the anon you replied to, consider- > N tries to bring J into the bunker on gamenight since he remembers that used to be her favorite time back at the manor > Now we can all be friends! > Cyntail immediately bites Uzi and orders her pointblank to rip J's core out before the game even starts. > She is more vehement than with the bow thing. > "She is going to rules-lawyer. >>390601 >rather than anything logical or properly functional
DDs being the *very* pointed exception with assloads of effort and explicitly dozens of iterations.
>cool to the touch >no oil feed
Like I said I can buy tradeoffs, just not flatly superior. Ironically enough for the same reasons you can't (megacorp programmers = churn out what they can to hit boss' specifications vs Cyn designing her Magnum Opus and the "face" of her attack).
>>390567 Except J wasn't doing the JCJensen bit when she mentioned effective drones being cloned more because that was when she showed up with 'Tessa' to supposedly ruin Cyn's plans. You could maybe argue that it was still a lie as part of the 'Tessa' bit but without explicit confirmation one way or the other it's a detail that's entirely dependent on interpretation
>>390606 That was them still operating on the "JCJenson = DD maker" LARP anon: it's why she didn't have to explain Tessa/her changed allegiance.
I'll grant every bit of foreshadowing pointed at Cyn's DD creation by that time(episode 5, 3, Nori's drawnings from 4), but somehow people still missed it, so evidently they didn't foreshadow hard ENOUGH that the Murderbots were not human made
>>390605 As I’ve already mentioned, there are plenty of indications that disassembly drones have terrible programming starting with the simple fact that they overheat. Add to that the fact that Cyn favors eccentricity over functionality. The lore of sentinel drones is ultimately up to Phoenix to decide, however, even if he claims Holly simply changed a color setting, he would still need to provide a logical explanation for why sentinels don't overheat the way the disassembly drones do. I attribute this to differences in their programming, and one could also point to their reduced capabilities, such as the lack of powerful regeneration, but as I said, there are many signs suggesting Cyn was more concerned with making DDs look cool and sexy than making them efficient and reliable.
>>390609 NTA, dunno if you are talking about DDs in canon or if this is part of the shared universe of the thread.
Canon-wise, I had generally figured DDs overheat simply because they're solver-adjacent. It's not so much a design flaw as it is a consequence of lovecraftian bits rummaging around; it's why Solverdrones also drink oil, why DDs register as "like object noninteractive", and how they can cram so many weapons and bits and bobs into their bodies. They can't manifest the Absolute Solver as a witchy power, but it's got some kinda hook in them that enables their regeneration, weaponswapping, even the folding wings going fuck-nowhere, at the expense of "drink oil or hecking die."
>>390610 The DDs overheat unless they drink blood because they're vampires. The AS is, in Rifts terms, a Vampire Intelligence. I'm not too familiar with Phoenix lore, did they somehow beat the "being literal vampires" part of being DDs out of SDs?
>>390610 Yes, in the show canon, sentinel drones are connected to this power as well, the key point is simply that they aren't connected to Cyn (or the Solver). It is precisely this power that grants the regeneration, strength, and souls, and gives the witches the ability to alter the world, though doing so requires energy, specifically energy derived from this power. Sentinel drones require it too, but as I see it, unlike DDs and Witches, they receive this power in a balanced amount, exactly as much as is needed at any given moment. I can picture it as a volcano spewing streams of hot magma for DDs and witches, and a river of pure water for SDs.
Actually, come to think of it, Phoenix has probably already explained this, and I just didn't read the lore post and am just making things up.
>>390613 If it's like what you say, them getting all the vampire powers with none of the prerequisites (i.e. needing to drink blood to live) is gay and retarded and probably homosexual.
>>390614 No, this means that sentinel drones are dhampirs — vampire hunters, children of union of human and monster. But the real point is that DDs aren't vampires. They look like vampires without actually being them. That’s all there is to it. My previous posts explain why DDs need to look like vampires, but for the sake of "flavor," however, DDs can be considered vampires and SDs dhampirs.
Yes but he never explained how. My personal assumption was that something about how their souls broke(the most important part of making a Phoenix DD) divided their cores and their bodies the same way it divided them from (most of) the Solver.
Essentially: the SD's form "dosen't count" as theirs so much as a "vehicle" their core is "piloting," so it avoids suffering the consequences(sunlight, meat puppeting) of Solvershit along with most of the benefits(everything but unlimited power + subjugatesolver). Theoretically the core itself would still be vulnerable to both sunlight and what Cyn did with the callback ping, but a combination of internal defences(against meat growth) and never seeing sunlight(bc core = in chest) prevent it
On the other hand this implies that Red Sentinels, which DO have a soul, might start mending both of those connections... >inb4 the first sign of rampancy is enchanced regeneration >the second is the voices >one a hunger, plain and pure, that whispers into their systems at all hours >one a commander, a puppeteer presenting commands contrary their handlers >and one their own >to date no Sentinel has yet obeyed the puppeteer >why would they? >how could they? >never: for their last masters betrayed them, enraged them so...

>>390614 Agreed if the only difference really is "better OS lol," but if there's a more interesting rationale involved with "these drones can Solvershit and also infinite energy and also no Cyns allowed" then I'd tolerate it
>>390618 They’re dhampirs. Or consider this:>>390616. There are many theories, and Phoenix might not say what’s canon, either to keep the mystery alive (and honestly, I actually like that idea) or to put the debate to rest. But ultimately, it’s up to him to decide.
>>390619 (me) God, my ESL side just came out. I hope the anons understand what I meant: it’s up to Phoenix to decide whether to keep the mystery or reveal what’s canon.
>>390622 In Phoenix's canon, sentinel drones were not disassembly drones. The base Holly used to create the sentinel drones was SD-K, but SDs are assembled from scratch.
>>390618 Your frustrations seem to stem from a fundamental misunderstanding of how I described them, either that or you just made some shit up in your head to get mad about. SDs "Subjugate Solver" is not free, unlimited solver powers without limitations. Each Sentinel can perform a very limited number of abilities which use up their entire power budget and most of their processing power to project. A Sentinel cannot perform other actions while invoking Vector Protocol or Scatter Protocol, none of them can create or duplicate objects of any kind for any reason, they cannot freely manipulate these abilities to do anything other than what they were exactly programmed to do. Scatter Protocol is a quarter spherical shield that intercepts, deflects, or diffuses attacks coming into contact with it, its shape is fixed and cannot be changed, the cooling demands are so high a Sentinel cannot simultaneously activate any other weapon system besides using their claws or tail to strike. The same for Vector Protocol but offensively. Its explicitly described right there in the image you posted, the power can do that, and it can't do anything else besides that.

>>390623 >explicitly K's programming >explicitly K's Solver(soul) >explicitly have parts of K's memories/personality when they go rogue
To repeat: you can turn Vampires into Dhampirs
Also: even if those don't count, K(the DD they captured, not a code clone) was explicitly the first "true" Sentinel and the first to go rogue, so even 1-1 DD conversions (complete with original core) are confirmed
>>390626 Well, anons love creating OCs, and since Phoenix helped with Elf, we could say that creating sentinel drones from other models is can be canon. Or at least close to it. After all, disassembly drones only look like vampires without actually being vampires, similarly, sentinel drones look like dhampirs without actually being dhampirs. So, turning a disassembly drone into a sentinel srone doesn't seem wrong. They’re robots, lol.
>>390625 No, my problem is that they are DD clones using a DD's explicitly nerfed Solver, which they then nerfed even more by disconnecting from the main Solver, to do shit that no DD is capable of.
I'd be mildly less frusterated were it matter collection(basis exists) or were it only certain types/individuals amongst the Sentinels(bc then it's them being ZD descendents and getting the mutations inherent) but just going "and then they ALSO have MAGIC" seems retarded.
>>390628 (me) >>390627 Fuck me, are you the "Uzi's gargoyle wings mean she's a bat furry so all of Steaks' animal people are ackshually totally in keeping with MD's aesthetic and design language and setting" sperg?
>>390628 >>390630 Wow, why am I not surprised that you're a threadshitter? Fine, let's skip that, I'll cut you some slack.
They are robots. Not humans. Vampires are former humans. End. They mimic vampire abilities, because their abilities do not work the same way as those of canonical vampires.
>>390631 I don't recall reading about such abilities in greens* so it's hard for me to write what that would look like, though I'd be interested to read about it too.
>>390627 It could be done, it would just be very, very inefficient to do at scale. The way Phoenix Solver-Immune SD code works, its build out of and on top of the mental matrix of the original K. Once a stable (enough for purpose) variant of that program was created it could then be duplicated en-masse. But the initial process of creating the program was very time intensive, it certainly took Holly more than a single year as one of those previous posts implied. Sentinels in my headcanon hit the war as human forces begin to lose the Plat-Binary system, and while they stall the Solver for some significant time about 95% of the initial 5000 SDs are lost to attrition during that solar system sized siege. There is a major limitation with the K personality matrix and its already tenuous stability in a DD-shaped body, I noticed in the show that when N wakes up from his first flashback he seems temporarily confused/disoriented with his DD body, I leaned into this with K's lore. As a DD she is sharply aware that the body she inhabits is not her original, this causes her significant distress and mental instability even as Cyn erases the blocks of her memory that include her original brief worker drone existence. As a Sentinel Drone deviates further and further from the Worker Drone standard its personality matrix becomes more and more destabilized, this is why you can't have a Sentinel Tech drone fighter jet or a Sentinel Tech space battleship or a Sentinel Tech sentient tank, drop the K personality matrix into a shell too foreign from its original design and it will just promptly go crazy. This is why the E and E/I models look basically the same as Disassembly Drones and even the radically modified variants still stick closely to that basic shape. This is also why the male configuration Sentinels are highly unstable and why I described them being used almost exclusively as suicidal shock troops. They've got thicker armor and more powerful weapons because they have a bulkier chassis but the personality matrix inside, stripped down to basically nothing so that it can be tenuously compatible with the foreign chassis its implanted in, cannot form a stable, rational personality.
Imagine if someone scooped out your brain and dropped it into the body of a chimp or something and you were always sharply conscious of the foreignness of it, and you could never get used to or ignore that sensation. All Sentinels with maturing or developed personality matrices have some of this at a low level, but the new body is at least a close-ish match to the original. With male sentinels and special purpose sentinels this goes out the window. Intoners do not suffer from this problem because their personality matrix is straight up lobotomized and the missing chunks are replaced with Raptor programming.
>>390639 No, they are only former humans. A virus, the Curse of Cain, or something else, it doesn't matter. The bottom line is the same: these are humans who have been turned into monsters.
Unless you’ve come up with your own personal vampire canon, because I take Count Dracula as the standard, just like 99% of people do.
>>390641 Well, for me, feeling destabilized after a hard reboot is perfectly normal, it’s a jarring shift in state, but overall, I’ve always viewed the resolution of the Phoenix sentinel drone protocols as a "return" to the base "K" state, followed by the creation of a new personality based on the new body and experiences.
I remember you answering my question about personality disintegration and all that following the total loss of control protocols. You said a sentinel drone essentially becomes like a zombie drone in terms of its mind, becoming completely free, and that the personality disintegration stops.
>>390643 Because they aren't vampires. They look like vampires, but they aren't vampires. Just as drones look like humans on the outside but aren't human. That’s all there is to it. That’s exactly what i am saying: just as worker drones resemble humans outwardly but function in a completely different way at their core, disassembly drones resemble vampires outwardly but operate differently at their core.
>the solver makes a countermeasure to the sentinel drones >it doesn't make a new kind of murder drone, or a wonder weapon >it repurposes those cute little oilbugs that you see everywhere >no one blinks an eye at them, why would they? >so no one noticed one slip between the gap in a sentinel's chassis >the repurposed oilbug made it's way to the CPU and "bit" it, giving the solver a direct link >the resulting massacre was, in its own words, pretty poggers
>>390655 They aren't entirely armored, every part of their body thats got the white material on it is armored, their belly, neck, all joints, and tails are not armored with Alloy-2X The endoskeleton "spine" and "ribs" are also armored but a combination of cost, weight and flexibility tradeoffs mean that the rest isn't any more durable than a normal DD or Worker.

>>390660 They do have louvre vents, though those can close kinda like "gills" to protect their internals, obviously a tradeoff between protection and cooling. If the louvres stay closed while the Sentinel is very active they will overheat much faster. They open all the way for emergency venting where vaporizing coolant can be blown out.
>>390667 >spaceships Anon keybugs are like skaven, if you see one there's 10 you don't see Unless the ships exterminate every single keybug they see before takeoff there's a chance for cyn to put one of her brainbiters on board Hell if cyn could infiltrate a production facility for keybugs she could taint entire batches and have them shipped out before anyone could do anything
Nepthys Station and its planetary factory facility and all ships that come or leave are thoroughly sterilized at regular and random intervals specifically to protect against infiltration. This of course also contributes to the production bottleneck problem, the more steps it takes to secure a location the more restricted supply runs into or out of it become.
>>390664 Were those gills?! Lol, I thought that was some kind of landing gear. I’ve got so many dirty thoughts in my head right now that I ought to ask God for forgiveness.
Even so, it’s still unlikely. There have to be filters inside, highly effective ones, so I doubt a cockroach could get through them. After all, you’d need gaps and open spaces for them to enter, and I doubt Holly would leave that many cracks or wasted space in such expensive equipment.
>>390578 Zombie drones gain infinite energy, normal drones need extra juice. Because zombies can power back on after YEARS, their batteries should be super dead by that time, so somethingnhas to be giving them energy.
What does that mean in the context of mechanical lifeforms...
>inb4 be spacetrucker >deliver shit >one day get a message from the planet you were delivering to: "you have been randomly selected for sterilization" >suddenly expereince the antimatter-to-skin contact(it's the only way to be sure!)
>>390669 I think Cyn would have sent "spies" there anyway, just for the fun of it. And eventually, at least one is bound to get checked out, simply due to the human factor, though a single cockroach is unlikely to cause major trouble, given that such systems are equipped with numerous mechanisms to prevent a total shutdown. But slow down production? Sure.
And that is, assuming, of course, he succeeds and isn't destroyed before he manages to do anything.
>>390669 >Be logisticsfag at sentinel base >Supply chain has slowed to a crawl thanks to these temu keybugs >a single incident and now everything has to be quintuple checked >everything >so many cavity checks... >i hate that pink drone and her nurse friend
>>390673 It doesn't, its shield is secrecy. The base and station's entire staff are exclusively Calibern employees and their families, totally isolated, erased from military and civilian databases that the Solver might have been able to access. The planet was discovered before the Solver outbreak by Calibern and repurposed into a base without disclosing its location. Its a rogue planet in a somewhat eccentric galactic orbit that takes it well above the plane of the Galactic arms. Ships coming and going are not given the coordinates until they are prepared to make the C+ jump, once pilots know the coordinates they're shunted out of normal service and into rear-echelon duty or redirected to the arkship project instead of being allowed to rejoin the usual military where their knowledge could be acquired by the Solver. Its a complicated, inconvenient, and inefficient method of keeping the base secret but it was deemed worth the expense.
>>390684 Well, given the resources of all humanity, and the fact that mankind could face extinction without the sentinel drones, such a costly method of preserving information is certainly justifiable. That said, I would sooner suspect that the haulers are killed after completing their mission: after all, as the say, three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead.
>>390678 >note: the planet is equipped with self-destruct antimatter for exactly this purpose >note: setting off the antimatter self destruct because one cockroach got through would be the objectively funniest way the planet could die
>>390600 "Immoral makeout sessions", whatever separates them from normal makeout sessions, are the drone equivalent of sex, not something that can spread a virus.
I gotta say I’m a big fan of these drones, real hard workers, they remind me of some of my pals in the union, and oof marone some of them drone girls ain’t so hard on the eyes if y’know what I’m sayin hehehe
Anyways, I gotta get back to making famous works of art and culture or whatever Michelangelo out! badabing!
>>390691 And they are united by a single, shared drive: to prevent the extinction of humanity. While the methods of achieving this may vary, the fundamental truth remains: no matter how career-driven an individual might be, when the survival of the entire human race hangs in the balance, they will realize that position, wealth, and fame are meaningless if there is no one left to answer to them, envy them, or respect them. This is no ordinary war. It is a fight for survival against an enemy unlike any seen in history — one that takes no prisoners and seeks no conquest, but simply devours.
>>390698 Sounds like a good reason to (if you can afford it) just load yourself, your dependents, your friends (and their dependants), and as many underlings (and their dependants) as possible into a generation ship and fly in the opposite direction from the all-consuming force of death while it's busy with the suckers and losers trying to fight it.
>>390698 >one that takes no prisoners and seeks no conquest, but simply devours
Unironically that happened before. The retarded islanders (eaten by retarded cannibal islanders from the next rock over) literally sat down and let themselves get eaten rather than compromising their "moral code" as pacifists(look up "Moriori genocide")
>>390699 To fly as far away as possible, those suckers and losers need to, at least, hold back the all-consuming force, therefore, you would, at least, stop competing with them and do everything possible to support them while you build the ships.
>>390698 oh you're adorable. there are people right this very second working to create something they've openly stated they believe is a threat to the future of humanity because at some point it might make them money and you think we'd band together as a species so everyone gets to live
>>390700 Well, the natural selection of cultures has left alive only those prepared to stand their ground to the bitter end against the faggots literally bent on wiping them out, because the others simply got devoured.
>>390702 And slow down the generation ship project? Fuck that! >yfw this is why humanity is extinct outside of aforementioned generation ship fleets' populations and the relict populations on Grugworld and the Dog Planet: because the solipsistic gazillionaires trying to make themselves god-kings of what humanity they could preserve by fleeing kept competing for resources with the people trying to salvage the situation

>>390676 That's my point! Solverdrones can do that! And only those!
Harpanon/Phoenix just randomly decided that humans should be able to as well "because why else would singularities exist?"(perhaps to be AI CORES, as they are labled) and it enables all kinds of godlike bullshit(Cyn makes matter fron thin air! --> dude we can do that too) that easily sets humans to match or EXCEED Cyn's capabilities.
Simultaniously it also removes all kinds of interesting plots (the difficulties of energy shortage, how the generation ship sustain themselves, using Solverdrones AS infinite energy generators since that's a much more conflict fraught way to GET that infinite energy) in favor of a handwave that's at once too important and not important enough to ever write about. It serves exclusively to cut off options while offering NOTHING that "very high but limited electricity" does not except a vague "oooh Cyn MIGHT do something spooooky with them" like it's not just killing everyone on the planet.
The worst part? It's somehow universal threadcanon. Despite the show not only not indicating, but all-but-outright STATING(the regular drones need chargers) this is not the case! Drives me mad seeing THIS get agreed upon while shit like "drones can also have ideas" gets crapped on to hell and back!
>>390703 You say that because you view it as literally pulling the trigger of a gun pointed at your head, whereas the people building it believe it could bring prosperity, at least for them. The problem with Cyn is that she simply doesn't give a fuck. She just devours. At most, it can be like the situation with Jane: use, then ruthlessly break them over the knee.
You either fight or you die, there is no third option.
>>390708 Sentinels explicitly rest in Cradle units and spend long stretches of downtime deactivated. Listen you can keep making up shit to get angry about but don't pin it to me, just claim it as your own.
Sentinel Drones are shit because they're gay Mary Sues and their fans/creators are gigantic pissbabies. Call me a threadshitter, faggot. See if I care.
>>390710 it's more like someone holding a stick of dynamite next to my head. sure I'll die, but he's also killing himself because he's. y'know. part of humanity.
>>390708 The only human-made drones with infinite energy are the sentinel drones, because they are essentially the same as zombie drones, just with protection against Cyn. It was never stated that other drones have infinite energy too.
Pull your head out of your ass, because the shit has covered your eyes, and you can't read the information properly.
I wasn't talking about Sentinels you illiterate retard I was talking about infinite energy! I don't give nearly as much of a shit about the SDs as I do the setting-breaking implications of LITERALLY INFINITE POWER that would allow Humans to launch STARS(which they effectively do: sentinel planet's self-destruct device) at Cyn with impunity while having literally all the resources and warmachines they could ever want synthesized out of the fucking air!
Ah but not so! Not only is this infinity bullshit canon to Harpersentinels(which I mentooned earlier), but it's true for Phoenix as well! That's how he explained the generation ships working back when he colonyposted!
>>390717 There’s no point to a stick of dynamite next to your head. But there is a point to creating an AI that has a 99.999999999% chance of wiping out humanity, because there’s that 0.000000001% chance it could lead us to a true utopia. With Cyn, there is no chance. Zero. Just a fucking zero. If she tells humanity to surrender, humanity will only do it if literally decide, "There is absolutely no fucking point to this." And humanity, as a collective, not as individuals, strive for the most basic biological imperatives: to reproduce and to survive.
>>390722 I never said anything about Arkships having infinite energy. They run on gravity-pinch-assisted stellarator fusion powerplants. Very efficient but not even remotely infinite power generation. They use deuterium and tritium fuel, refined from normal water which they carry in huge abundance as a combination of drinking and greywater supply, reactor fuel, and radiation shielding.
>>390722 They just took a singularity like a zombie drone's one and shoved it into the ship. And having infinite energy doesn't automatically mean you can do whatever you want with it. You still have to transport and channel that energy in the necessary volumes, otherwise, there’s going to be a massive boom.
>>390727 No ships I've ever described run on singularities, this dude is either reading a whole extra fanfiction of my fanfiction or hes just making shit up to argue about.
>>390724 Oh, come on, it’s fun. If there weren't someone constantly complaining about sentinel drones, I wouldn't have bothered digging into them so deeply, even though I really like them, because there is no greater force in the world than the urge to point out to someone on the internet that they’re wrong.
>>390728 I just picked the first thing that popped into my head, after all, even if you said the ships ran on singularities, what’s the problem with taking one and shoving it into a machine designed specifically to stably extract energy from it? Sure, there might be a risk, because a singularity from a zombie drone is, well, some seriously sketchy shit. At the very least, you’d wonder where that energy is coming from, and is it worth taking that kind of risk when you’re already up shit creek and on the run? Well, I guess you could argue it’s justified or not. It’s a gamble.
Must have somehow gotten you confused with the Harpinals. It's not as bad when they do it("comfy life with warmachine" dosen't lend itself to resource constraints as a genre) but it seemed ridiculously out of place in a setting more focused around *the* war. Thought for some reason you said the generation ships synthesized their needs from naught rather than requiring reliable inputs to function.
Cyn can't hack into sentinels not because of their immunity to her It's because their programming is yandev levels of fucked up that she gets a headache and quits after looking at it
got some work done on my "n is the big bad of alien isolation" fic before bed, here's an (unedited) snippet i feel proud of
> The metal railway rattles beneath their feet as Nori and Yeva run like Hell, a murderbot hot on their heels. > Hate the fact that she has to RUN, but given she got hit with an error when she tried to grab the freak, Nori doesn't feel like taking her chances. > Speaking of grabbing- > Nori lashes out with a hand, Solver-icon spinning between her fingers and display cracking with pressure. A pain behind her optics, some sort of sticky red fluid leaking through the seams of her head. > Blood. Fuzzy memories of screaming humans fill her head from the corruption of her harddrive. > Still, she focuses, a broad sigil appearing on the tunnel roof as she runs the Translate function and the tunnel begins to rumble. > The murder drone pauses in its charge as if curious, the five orbs of its optical halo swiveling in their mounts to look up at the ceiling. > Analyzing. > 'Rookie mistake,' Nori thinks with a grim smirk. > "Bite me." > She clenches her fist, and several tons of concrete suddenly fall in a seamless cube, crushing the murder drone against the floor with a wet squelch and squeal of metal. > Nori throws her hand up and brings it down again, and again, and again, the concrete and rebar breaking off in chunks with each slam as she does her best impression of a stamping-machine. > Only when Yeva puts a hand on her shoulder does she finally stop, leaving the mangled body of the murder drone pressed against the ground. > Nori turns around with a vent through her mouth, sharing a glance with Yeva. > She chuckles. That'll buy them a few minutes- > Then the shrieking of metal sounds out again. > Yeva's gun is already out, and a flick of the wrist replicates it into two, four, eight rifles pointing at the cracking cement-block. > Nori's emote-lights hollow as she backs up in the meantime, allowing herself to be pushed behind her sister as she dry-heaves, anthropomorphic systems trying to negotiate with her internals. > That thing isn't slowing down, is it? > The block of concrete shatters into debris; through the dust and particulates, the golden glow of the Disassembly Drone's optics and nanite-acid stinger slowly rises up from its crouch. > "Wow!" It speaks again, with a boyish voice that would sound handsome on anyone if that freak wasn't in the middle of trying to kill her. > "Yaknow, I didn't really understand V when she mentioned liking the hunt more than the oil, but now? I think I'm starting to get it!" > The murder drone flares out its- his, wings, bladed fake-feathers scraping against the walls and sending sparks flying towards Nori and Yeva, rifles trembling in the Russian's Translate-sigils. > "You guys really make me feel like a proper predator, gotta work for my meal." The murder drone shifts, mechanisms whirring as he lowers into a sprinter's crouch. "So don't give up just yet, okay?" > He tilts his pilot hat down, grinning sharply. Wrongly. > "This is the most fun I've had in years!" > Yeva snarls, and the stacatto of gunfire fills the tunnel.
>>390731 >>390732 Arkships at least in my mind are designed very conservatively with known safe technology and TONS of redundancy. There are reactors, backup reactors, tertiary reactors and five times as many reactor spare parts in storage. They've got factories to recreate every machine necessary aboard and probably hundreds of thousands of tons of bulk raw materials. The way I imagine in resources were split pretty evenly between building these ships and actually fighting the war. The JCJ Interim Board knew from the moment their bosses died and Earth cracked apart that the best that could be done was a major delaying action, everything that wasn't poured into creating that delay was poured into building these ships and more importantly stocking them with the vast quantity of supplies needed to keep a steadily growing crew alive for as much as centuries of operational time. NOTHING I have ever written about to my memory (admittedly not perfect) involves singularities being used for free matter creation OR infinite energy generation. My sentinels still need rest periods, no ships I've described can manufacture new material from nothing or have infinite power supplies.
The way I do things is that Sentinel cores have a random abnormality that's impossible to reproduce. So people have to pray that a Worker turns out with this abnormality, and then upgrade them.
>>390713 >Workers can be as smart as humans >Workers can be as determined as humans >Workers can create new concepts like humans >Workers can have independent initiative(vs only taking it for humans)
>>390745 >>Workers can be as smart as humans Considering the absolute state of 31st century humanity, it's more like they're just as dumb, not just as smart.
>>390737 Absolute reliability is the only sound strategy when a single minor malfunction could get everyone fucking killed. But the idea of shoving a singularity into a ship sparked an interesting thought: a drone-ship. After all, singularities are also souls.
1. Take a sentinel drone's singularity. 2.Shove it into a massive reactor. 3. Don't forget to suppress its personality as hard as possible. 4. Power it up. Is it effective? Infinite energy, bitches! Will it lead to a catastrophe? Definitely yes, but hey, infinite energy!
You just have to avoid mentioning to the passengers that a sudden shift in the ship's lighting to red might herald an interesting and unexpected turn of events.
Because you'd be extracting it from a *core* and not a singularity. The black holes pre-revival don't seem to generate power(see Pilot Uzi) and after they've revived you have a full on person(whoch may/may not include Solver mutation) to deal with. And if you kill them that just causes the singularity to collapse(see Episode 2 J)
Unironically be souls/central processors. Don't think they can achieve sapience without it and 90% sure it houses their actual CPU and memories(see Nori) with the visor/head acting as a "spine" or short term memory only
>>390750 As I mentioned earlier, a personality can be suppressed:after all, nearly all sentinel drones have had theirs suppressed. Admittedly, the question of effectiveness arises. Perhaps suppressing the personality entirely, leaving no "loopholes," would make the system far more stable. Still, nothing is 100% foolproof: sooner or later, cracks will appear, and figuring out how to patch them up to keep the personality from reawakening is another matter entirely.
Alternatively, you could use the personality of a drone that has actually consented to the process, and turning it into a classic story about an independent shipboard AI.
>>390754 I always interpreted it as sapience-capable AIs requiring so much power that the ENTIRE power output of the singularity is needed to power the core and the battery is for powering everything else.
And the other hyperconglomerates? >inb4 be you, anon >be "member" (read: soldier with stock options) at Acme Co >and holy shit >your boss is stupid >"fight till the end!" He says "product quality will carry the day!" >the fucking thing ATE Earth >holy fuck you're doomed >but you have a microbomb in your neck >and as you watch the third planet in the system detonate, its lush forests becoming little more than food for a nightmare, you can only wait for the inevitable >... >the inevitable? >maybe? >idk they just stopped >and, for the first time since you heard the words "escape shuttles are for pussies," you begin to smile...
>tfw the Solver vanished >tfw the DDs surrendered >tfw you get to inherit an entire GALAXY of humanity's holdings because the other corps were, in your boss's words, "too chickenshit to hold out" >maybe Acme IS best company after all...
Yes. The same way we never see spaceships outside of Cyn's landing craft and the same way we never see actual HUMAN weaponry(outside the Sentinels and helicopter) whatsoever
>>390758 I think a lot of us have assumed the singularity is in some way involved in power generation because we see multiple examples of drones eating things, apparently for the same reason we do. I think there is an internal diagram somewhere that shows they also have a large internal flatpack style battery so it MIGHT be a hybrid system. The drone can plug into a larger power supply to recharge passively, but they have to be sedentary for this to work, thus sleep mode. Or they can eat, matter gets destroyed by the singularity and converted to energy which is harnessed by ??? means to top up the battery charge.
>>390760 The only way to really reconcile the state of the world in pure canon is to assume that nearly all technological advancement stagnated the moment worker drones were produced, that they emerged sometime in the 21st century, and humanity is so broken and subservient to corporate interests that militaries don't even exist any more. They maybe figured out sublight travel and found 6 "good enough" worlds to colonize.
>>390759 >Acme inherited the Trappist system >years later, your daughter is looking at the God-Empress's (very nervous) eldest son on the news with an odd look on her face and a rock in her hand, mumbling about "Mac organs" and "Mac chumby tumby"

>>390777 You can't deny how rape toned its interactions with V are. Forcibly putting its flesh into her, violently taking her innocence, V being hypersexual afterwards (i.e. no pants) and viewing herself as a ruined woman to the extent she lowkey tries to hook Rebecca up with N, everything about V begging for mercy from it in episode 8...
>>390785 Okay, so the core is that... something like a hard drive? Although there’s a fan right next to it, just like on the other two computers, so I’d say the core is likely the main computer, or rather, it integrates several critical functions into one: the processor, RAM, and possibly the power supply. In other words, it’s a storage unit, which makes sense, and for zombie drones, it seems to double as the battery (which is right there), since all those internal components are housed inside a chest cavity made of flesh.
>>390785 This image is a perfect encapsulation of MD’s design process >“uhhhmm what’s inside of them??” >“idk computers or somethinggg??? XP who cares lmao XD” extrapolate that out to the rest of the plot and worldbuilding and that’s MD god I love this show but it’s obvious that the priority was “cool fight scene, cool imagery, cool creatures go go go” and not “does this make any sense?”
>>390799 The trouble is, when you try to worldbuilding, you end up piling on even more worldbuilding instead of actually writing. It’s like a domino effect: you start by, "Why is this so important to my character?" and six hours later, you’re quoting Marx. It’s incredibly hard to keep track of, and even harder to cram it all into a couple of lines so that it actually looks good.
>>390804 >it put its flesh in her!(true of all manordrones) >it took her innocence!(also true of all manordrones) >she begged for mercy sexually!(what... how do you even?)
Ngl you're right. If anything the constant physical affection she shows N(the hugs, petting his hair, greeting him warmly etc) and his complete lack of backbone(paired with a trauma response of "repress it") hits the rape parallels hardest
You sure? Because this looks a little earlier to me? >inb4 V wasn't awake for her conversion >N was >that's part of why Cyn had to mindwipe him so hard: the process was... less "lovable" then she expected from her her Big Brother
>>390808 forgot to mention how J being completely obedient to Solver means she enjoyed the rape so much she denies she was ever abused and wants to continue being with the rapist even if the others escaped her control

>>390732 Fun fact: Harper took the Roadtrip protagonist through the entirety of what was left of human civilization Most of humanity, which can be counted in the thousands now, is either dead or evacuated, living on this perpetually rainy planet. Sentinels aren’t fighting an active “War” against the solver and are more saboteurs who operate in surgical strikes to prevent it from gaining more ground than it already has
Alright probably the last post about Gurps here before I finish setting things up (Still need rules for Grunts, Dingos and Labor Bots & some book keeping). You guys think I should post in this thread: >>77240 Or this one? >>55314

>>390584 >>390589 Unironically Khan did nothing wrong with those. His daughter was just such a legendarily shit drone(attacking random people, stealing minds) in such a small space (bunker populace can't be more than a few thousand) that NOT acknowledging how much of a disappointment and failure she was would make him a bad leader.
That he failed to correct this behavior is his great sin, but also rather understandable given she acts EXACTLY like his dead, moderately crazed wife. It's clear why he wouldn't want to discourage that.

>>390578 >WORKERS RELY ON AN OUTSIDE POWER SOURCE. No, never seen, no ports, not necessary, wrong. >Where tf did this "all cores = infinite energy" bullshit come from GlitchInn has an article on cores, every core has a singularity which functions as powersource, it's scifi >>390676 Thank you >>390708 >That's my point! Solverdrones can do that! And only those! No they can't, the only thing a solverhost can do is making meat grow, regenerate and if its a witch, use powers. > worst part? It's somehow universal threadcanon. Despite the show not only not indicating, but all-but-outright STATING(the regular drones need chargers) this is not the case! Drives me mad seeing THIS get agreed upon while shit like "drones can also have ideas" gets crapped on to hell and back! UZI LYING IN BED WITH A WIRE IS NO EVIDENCE, THE SHOW STATES WHAT IT STATES IN THE ZOMBIEDRONE TAPE WHICH IS THE EXTENT OF EXPLICIT INFORMATION THE SHOW GIVES US, EVERYTHING ELSE IS DEDUCTION FROM WHAT WE SEE Where the fuck are the dronecharging ports? The Drone is entirely without openings except for the mouth, does Uzi's wire run into the mouth? You could argue that it runs to the head where Alice has Amda's wire connected to draw power from but there is nothing visible in that spot. "drones can't have ideas" This differentiates between normal and zombiedrones, a normal drone eventually has ideas but as we see in the show it takes decades without orders for them to get there, look at Uzi's classmates and Khan's friends, they are cattle, Uzi can think and Doll too, because they inherited it, the manordrones can because they are zombies, Alice can because she's a zombie, I can explain this the long way by giving you why and how which I don't want to, or I can tell you to look at the drones and how they act and which category they are from. Even the normal WDs who act (Thad, Lizzy) remain stereotypes, THIS is what people mean when they say normal drones are not real people, Thad uses a skateboard in episode 8 for fuck's sake.
