Amaterasu and Hornet are obvious winner candidates, doubly so with Silksong's release and Okami 2's announcement, but I don't know why Noelle gets ignored so much.
The raping caused /v/ to go crazy, and chapters 3 and 4 still generate active discussion.

>Ammy
Probably one of the safest bets to make it back to Elite Eight alongside Hornet, but she also seems less controversial than Hornet this year. Not impossible either of them get knocked out prior to QF, but they're easily the safest two bets bar poor luck. If they somehow faced each other before the Elite Eight, I could see that being a massive momentum boost for whoever wins that.
>Roll
Could go either way. Obviously she's one of the three perfect attendees going into this year's tournaments, and she's had to win some actual serious matches to get to that point. Just not sure how she'll hold on this year. Could argue she has a solid shot if not put into a tough bracket. On the other, could reasonably argue that she might have hit her peak last time and that the fact she's the main exception for Mega Man having stellar tournament performance might finally come back to hit her this time.
>Bayonetta
This one hurts. Feel like she could have easily been propped up as a strong contender to win year 7 or 8, but NSA obviously makes it trickier. Wasn't her only campaigner, but WAS her main artist at minimum. Agree with the idea she's more of a wild card, though I do think it will depend on her bracket. Could easily make it back if it's smoother sailing, but if it's a tougher one I feel she doesn't make it back bar a surprise new campaigner or two pulling the stops for her.
>Malon
Fun surprise pick for the Elite Eight this year, but quite unlikely to make it back. She got an easier bracket overall, and feel her max potential appeal is going to limit her past quarterfinals. She's a solid waifu pick and arguably the most fitting wife for the Hero of Time, but there are other attractive girls with more going on with them. Still, could see her lasting a round or two.
>Fio
I feel she's going to come short. Amazing design and a fun character past that, but her brackets have gotten easier each time. Feel she got somewhat lucky making it last time if anything. Can't count her out, but wouldn't be surprised at all if this is the first year she misses it.
>Ashley
Yeah, I'd be surprised if she makes it this far again. Not only did she make it with very opportune timing behind her, but she also technically lost to Muffet by a hair. Almost no way that controversy matters, but what will is that she won't have the same lucky timing this time. Not completely out of question, but another I'm not counting on being a repeat.
>Taokaka
Definitely more unlikely than not, but I wouldn't completely count her out. Still, part of the reason she made it was anons admitting they felt pushing her felt more appealing than a Cirno rerun that year. Could see her coming back with some hype, but also feel she's got some tough competition. That said, I do think at least one fightan girl makes it once again.

In short? Ammy is a safe bet, but this is not the most promising returning set past her. Roll feels like a coin flip, and I would say Bayonetta and Fio both have somewhat reasonable odds of it. (Maybe 35-40% for Bayo and 30-35% for Fio?) Other three are probably not coming back.

The first year of the /v/ tournaments worked on a "first-come, first-served" basis, so some niche characters who have never been able to qualify got in. 2019 was the year where the only KoF representation in Queen was Leona and femTerry; Mai didn't show up until 2021.
>>213532
In general, fighting games are kind of a niche subject on /v/, so it's natural that there wouldn't be much fighting game characters in the tournament. I guess the women can get by because of sex appeal, but the men aren't so fortunate. Johnny is the only to qualify anymore because he has a dedicated and general campaigner.

Mainly I think cause there's not a lot of meta intrigue. It feels pretty straightforward. King gets discussed constantly cause there's always some controversy or speculation with campaigns, meta, memes ect. Ms. /co/ used to be the same but it looks like it's become a pretty "normal" tourney now. This year was probably the most Queen has ever been discussed and that to do with all the Hexfag and (to a lesser extent) Princess drama.

Hexfag attention whoring being such a " big deal" is only really a big deal for queen standards. Compared to the drama tsunami Ms /co/ and King /v/ both have, it was a drop in a puddle. Recette being a shit winner was just sort of accepted, it wasn't like Fang or Batter where you have passionate arguments from both ends.

Realistically, I feel fine onward would feel satisfying enough. Mostly confident in these rankings, even if you could maybe argue one or two going up or down a spot.

Link would maybe be a spot higher under different circumstances, but THIS year would be way too sudden a shift in direction. He has the same issues as someone like Mario, but without either the genuine campaign attempts or meme potential of Mario. He'd need at least one year of changing perceptions. By the way, Mario would probably be in "Fine" for me if I was ranking him.

Any others? Wesker needs at least one more year I'd say to move beyond NSA, and probably some fresh campaign efforts to try and improve his image before making it back to Elite Eight status. Chief might be seen in too much discourse, but could also see him having at least some argument as winning off the good ol' days before Microsoft let his franchise largely go to shit. Could see a route where King K. Rool comes out as a "good FOTM" pick, but even in a best case I don't see him being as agreed upon as the ones in the first two categories. Doomguy could be hurt somewhat by Dark Ages, but that game came and went so hard that it might not matter.

Okay, I completely forgot Eggman since he's such a wildcard. Feel he'd be somewhere around fine with the caveat that he's taken more as a "finally he did it" winner. Eggman in finals a third time this soon would be quite a fuss, and having him win after Shadow would just make the criticism over that decision spike a lot. The doctor himself probably gets away from a lot of the discourse, but I still think he'd be hindered from being a stronger winner in this year's context at least were he to take the crown. Best route is either an earlier Elite Eight bow-out or losing respectfully in the third or fourth round. Too soon is going to blow up the jobber discussion, but too far in will lead to a lot of heated talks in the threads.

RWBYfags have had nothing since Crunchy Roll announced that they bought the ip. So, given the show's unique history with Death Battle, her episode may as well have been the latest bit of official content. Any Clivefags in the tournament (if they even exist) are not going to bring it up.

I was also considering Bowser, Rosalina, and maybe Daisy when I said that to be clear. Maybe Donkey Kong or King K. Rool too, but debatable how much they count under that umbrella. Still, Mario is a fairly strong example in of himself. He is in that weird spot right now where it's debatable whether he's peaking as a midcarder or just simply been getting put into tougher match-ups earlier on. The fact he lost to Sam last year by around the same percentage as Wario, generally considered the stronger candidate, sticks out in particular. He also got denied out of an earlier Elite Eight run in 2022 to Jack Frost, even if that whole deal felt somewhat iffy. If he had managed to beat Jacket in 2023 and lost to Grimm the following round instead, he would admittedly stick out even more at that point. He's still got some obstacles as a less nuanced hero and the face of one of vidya's biggest publishers, but Mario is at least on my shortlist of characters who I can easily see making it to at least top 8 the next couple years.

Funny you mention Luigi, since I'd argue the fact he squeezed in twice now is a big supporting factor to why I think the Mario series has further room to develop. Even with the anti-Nintendo pushes that happen on /v/, it's clear Mario characters are able to at least partially push back against that sentiment. Could be older content with them being seen as more purely good, could be the characters simply having a lot of exposure behind them, or could even be in part from meme value. Point stands that I do think at least one or two more are going to join up the Elite Eight soon with just a little luck behind them. Guess Peach could return as well after how many years now, but I'm admittedly less confident in her right now.

The irony is that he almost has all those specific elements you mentioned, but he's not the most prominent in any of them. In a sense, he's a jack-of-all-trades, master of none. Perfectly fine slotting into Elite Eight on easier brackets, but having trouble making his case whenever the gavel drops afterwards.

It’s not a formal ban. More of a nudge of caution to the hosts, whether they choose to follow it or not. Not only is this specific spammer particularly bad, but it also might put threads at jeopardy. It’s clear from the stealth thread last night that this guy can’t simply be banned off for now. He kept at it for hours, often spammed multiple times at once, and posted pictures in the thread itself at least twice. It’s more of a temporary precaution, and as already said a lot of the art the hosts might use is likely going to just be Madotsuki focused.

Don’t know why suggesting something to the hosts specifically set you off, as if it were a slight against Reimu herself (it’s not). Only reason I brought it up was due to affirmation that this has been a wider problem. If a Touhou girl gets far in the tournament and makes sense to feature in the OPs, we can deal with it then. Would be excessive to just bury them at that point unless the spam got truly intolerable. This is more avoiding it as much as possible, especially if Reimu is this spammer’s main flag.

Actually I can kind of see why someone would argue /v/ does need a 256 bracket: the nominations. It's a tired point, I know, but you can't argue the nominations have been getting bigger as years go on. This year's Ms. ended up with over 1450 nominations, the most in its entire history. At the same time, /co/ fluctuates; sometimes they gain 100 noms, other times they lose 100. /v/, on the other hand, is always growing without any year where they get less nominations than the previous year. I won't say that bumping the main tournament's roster to 256 will solve anything, but I can see why some might want to at least try it out. If /co/ actually goes through 256 for next year, then you just know some fags will bitch and moan until /v/ gets the same treatment.

Reposting this one more time, but doing a ranking of all the previous Queens and Kings on here. Note this isn't a serious indicator of their reception overall, nor a sign of how /v/ as a majority feels. It's more being done out of curiosity to see how the off-season voters on here feel after all the discussion as of late.

I don't think I've ever seen someone in such denial as Hexfag. Anyhow I know what the next plan is, it's simply latching onto an already popular character so that nobody wants to vote them out, but by doing so it presents Hexfag with a "win" like with Shadow and Mado. I actually was referencing him using that specific piece of art you at the end of my last post when I said it was likely a coincidence. It's clear from how he drew the crop top, even down to how much her chest makes it protrude in both. Just found it funny is all.

As for Curly having noticeable breasts, however? Yes, that is very consistent, and the art in question is more of an exception despite it usually being the first result that comes up for her. Pic related is art of her from different manuals, and both clearly give her a bigger chest. It's part of her original design, not something added in porn later on.

Yeah. I remember Hex Maniac's art not being controversial as well the first couple of years for the most part, outside some anons questioning her general value as a character. Do recall a short shitstorm from a couple anons when Curly beat her in 2023, but it was mostly forgotten. It changed in 2024 whenever she entered Elite Eight and beat a few strong characters doing such, leading to more scrutiny as one might expect at that point. Hexfag then took it personally and started his downward spiral. You're absolutely right and some anons told him to look at himself whenever the Baiken art was being spread, but it clearly wasn't taken as genuine advice despite it very much being that.

The other thing is the controversy definitely didn't start with the Baiken match, threads got pretty shit with Hex Maniac arguing and opponent falseflagging after she beat Maya R3, who was #1 seed and returning powerhouse. Had Hexfag not been a factor in Queen last year I think almost certainly Maya would've gone to Mado in SF and whoever won that simply beats Ayla and wins the tourney. It'd have been a standard Queen atmosphere (Princess/Tifa incident notwithstanding).

I am not looking forward to Princessfags coming back. Nice OC and a cool candidate, but that's one of the most visceral reactions I've seen to a specific pick losing. At the least, it certainly was in Queen. They took what was a close match against Tifa and went out of their way to taint her after the fact instead of losing with grace. Eggman in general really did suffer from having shockingly little campaigning aside from Hexfag. Think it caught up to him versus all the varied campaigning that Grimm was getting throughout. There were some attempts to give Eggman more art around the end, but it really did come late.

Alright! This form is closed, so might as well share the results. First off, the Queen votes. I started each section asking for the winners to be ranked individually, followed by a 1st-6th place ranking, and finally a simple question of whether the tournament's winners are good or not. For that first part, here's how all the girls fared:

>Samus - 4.24
>Reimu - 3.72
>Recette- 3.03
>Midna - 3.79
>Curly - 4.31
>Madotsuki - 3.93

As for the general quality of the winners in general? A very clear majority of 79.3% of voters said that Queen had good winners, and only 2 said it did not. It's clear that the slate of winners in the tournament so far is indeed quite beloved. Recette is the only one noticeably lower, and even she is north of a 3. (If this was on a scale of 10, that would translate to around a 6.) Not many 1 votes in general for any of these girls, even Recette. As for the 1st-6th ranking:

>1st. Curly Brace - 66
>2nd. Samus Aran - 63.5
>3rd. Madotsuki - 52
>4th. Midna - 50
>5th. Reimu Hakurei - 49.5
>6th. Recette Lemongrass - 37.5

Decided to do it with 1st being 3 points, 2nd being 2.5, and so on. Fairly expected order off the above scores, with Midna being the main somewhat interesting case. Despite many liking her, she did end up as the last placer by quite a few voters. Even Reimu had only half as many bottom votes as her. Despite this, she did narrowly pull ahead to grab onto 4th place. Madotsuki was quite well received, but she only got a single top vote. Plenty for 2nd-5th, but only one anon saw her as the top queen so far. As one other funny statistic, the only possible option for the 1st-6th question not answered was Curly Brace being in 5th. She scored very well in general, but there was at least a single 6th place vote for her. None for 5th! As one last aside, I did accidentally not toggle the "vote each option once" option for the first few votes. Did catch it for the majority, but it might have slightly skewed the results here. Still, doesn't change these votes still being indicative of general thoughts on the winners here.

Will post the King summary in a bit. You might say it's the more interesting of the two. How did the men fare here? Well...
No.214883
Anonymous
>>214882
As expected, the results for King were certainly a contrast in several ways to the female division. First off, how did the six kings thus far rank among anons on here?

>Armstrong - 4.66
>Dante - 4.72
>Batter - 3.0
>Garland - 3.59
>Grimm - 3.28
>Shadow - 3.14

Clearly it's a step down from Queen. You got two close to perfect rankings, but then afterwards every other queen except Recette scored the previous four winners. It does somewhat support the idea that King has had a step down in quality with who it's crowned, but on the other hand none of these went below a 3. The Batter was on the edge of it, but did pull through in the end. It does seem to paint the idea that these later winners are less hated overall and more just seen as somewhat underwhelming. It's interesting to observe with how much critique they have gotten as of late in particular. That said, there is one set of answers that stands apart from all other 11 winners here, and of course it's Shadow the Hedgehog. He barely missed out on getting as many 1 votes as Recette and Batter combined, but he also got quite a few 4s and 5s to his name. In fact, there was a tie between 1 and 5 for him. This stayed fairly consistent during the votes as well. Certainly a polarizing winner, but it's interesting to observe that. Does explain some of the extreme reactions around him at least.

Anyway, does King have good winners. A narrow majority of 55.2% said it does, though this is a far cry from Queen having nearly 4/5 voters able to claim that. 50/50 was slightly ahead of a flat-out no, which does support the idea that King might simply have struggled to find unifying winners after Dante more than anything. Now for the 1st-6th place votes:

>1st. Senator Armstrong - 77
>2nd. Dante - 75.5
>3rd. Jack Garland - 47.5
>4th. Shadow the Hedgehog - 41.5
>5th. Grimm - 39.5
>6th. The Batter - 36

Yeah, I was a little surprised that Dante narrowly didn't beat Armstrong with all his 1st place votes. Props to the senator, who was never voted into 5th or 6th for this survey's entire span! What's almost as crazy is the lion's share of 2nd place votes went to these two, with a majority of 1st place votes following. How did the rest fare then? Well there is definitely a wide margin, but despite that Jack did comfortably take 3rd place. While definitely more polarizing, he actually did receive 5s more than any other score in the ranking section. It's a clear gap from Dante, but it does seem he's the clear "best of the worst" for many. The Batter on the other hand did unsurprisingly end up in last place, pairing with his queen. Worth noting he received close to the same amount of 5th and 6th place votes. A few stronger fans of him, but it's clear a lot at minimum don't have that much particular love for him. What's interesting is that, despite his slightly worse score in the ranking section, Shadow did at least pull above Grimm to take 4th place. Almost makes you wonder how Eggman would have placed, huh? It was admittedly only by two points over Grimm, but he did in fact pull that off.

Any other interesting results? Well a majority of voters cared about both tournaments, though there was a chunk who specifically cared mostly about King. Only one respondent primarily cared for Queen, while no voters cared for neither. That last part is a good statistic to see here. Does make me feel that more /co/ specific voters, however are even on here, don't actually pop in the Queen/King off-season threads that often. Now this form was posted at least once in the Tournament General thread, but didn't see the numbers tick up that much when I did compared to reposts here. Now there was a chunk of voters who said they did visit /co/ at least somewhat regularly, but it actually was not the majority. Again, shows some /v/-specific users among here. Almost all the voters do go on /v/ itself, with only a small fraction visiting it on a basis that's not all that frequent.

Then there's the /tnt/ question, and another reminder not to take this survey as gospel for /v/ itself. A slight majority of voters did say they are on here regularly, with another decent chunk still checking up on here on fair occasion. This was ultimately my expectation: a survey that would be more focused on /tnt/. I'd rather keep a gauge of /v/ itself on /v/, for obvious reasons. This is more a culmination of a lot of the winner discussion lately. Don't take it too seriously, especially since the voter count was pretty low. Maybe I could have made a dedicated thread, but seemed pointless for something thrown together like this. It was ultimately for fun and out of sheer curiosity.

I do think the first two winners set a really high bar, but yeah. There were quite a few middle votes for Batter and Garland. Grimm's most common answer was flatout a 3. Shadow was simply polarizing as stated already. One thing I have admittedly noticed is that a lot of anons can pick one or two at least good winners out of the line-up after Dante, but it will be at the expense of others in the line-up. There's a chunk who do really like Garland and Grimm, some who will consider Shadow and Garland to be fine winners, those who mainly pick out one bad egg of the bunch, and so on. It's at least an interesting contrast to Queen, where there's far less polarization. There's currently a gap that seems to exist after Samus and Curly, but it's not as big as the one for King.

Personally I don't think the princess will have the same OC fuel as she had last year with the Pristine Cut but then again I could be proven wrong. I'm saying this because the bracket will look brutal now with the Deltarune and Silksong boost for the UT/DT characters and Hornet. I predict characters like Muffet, Sussie and Noelle will make it in, with special attention to the latter after the weird route in chapter 4. Hornet will probably be a beast in the bracket, if sneaking her way earlier in the elite 8 of that /trash/ tournament is any indication. As for the princess, as someone who has played it I've always thought she and TLQ worked much better for Co-op given the implications of the story, but throwing my support for both of them for queen and king won't hurt anyways.

Not sure that Susie and Noelle will be that strong, even if I certainly see them doing better this time. Could see Susie squeezing into a lower Elite Eight position, though I do think it's not strong odds. Noelle I feel caps at round 3, though I can see her having a shot at quarterfinals next year if she does well this time and gets even more content from Chapter 5. If she does end up becoming the new vessel for the soul in the Weird Route, it could be massive for her. No clue on Muffet. She had to face GLaDOS early last year, so she could still pull off her redemption a year late.

Hornet on the other hand is absolutely strong. I can hardly imagine a world she doesn't at least return to Elite Eight this time, and I think most cases would involve spite or backlash over her being too strong this time. Anyone that's felling her is likely doing it later in the tournament.

/v/ anon (but not silent majority) here
It's kinda right, I like Shadow more than Grimm and Batter as characters, and even though I enjoyed beating OFF (heh) I find that Batter is a weaker kind of protagonist. He's not silent, but he has a mission and that's his entire personality to the very end, where it's either finished or he's the one finished. I think Demi-fiend has more versatility and everyone + their grandfathers love SMT Nocturne. The argument against him is that he's silent, but there are paths to take in the game and his OC showed it didn't really matter anyway. Because he's from a universally liked game that means he won't win because lol JC Denton.
As for Grimm, BS1 was alright, but Grimm reminds me of a more extreme Reimu case. One could argue Reimu likely swept because other boards love Touhou too, but BS has a cult following on a couple of boards (/vrpg/ and /v/ iirc) and I just don't see why he should've won over all the others who could've. Reimu has the excuse of being the face of a massive piece of classic internet culture; Grimm has rape and a repeat of Batter. Shadow was a trend boost and wasn't even the best character in his movie, but he's fine, I just dislike how he won rather than the fact he did. Jack was a big meme and I get that, it's not equivalent to Bazz winning because people actually played Stranger of Paradise

A fourth of the winners so far being from RPG Maker games is somewhat insane. At least one makes sense, maybe two? Just feels a bit surprising that it has such strong representation in the winner's circle now. For what it's worth, Madotsuki was likely the last one for the near future and arguably the biggest one to win in some ways. If anything, it just highlights how having both Batter and Grimm take it was somewhat absurd.

Not that anon, but I could give no fucks to spite vote against anyone. To me, it doesn't matter who ultimately wins these tournaments.
Sure, there are characters I want to see win, but there are so many girls and guys that are worthy of the crown that I think it's fucking stupid to get worked up over a winner.
Even if the winner didn't get any support, at the end of the day, these tournaments are a glorified popularity contest, so it's only natural for someone like Kiryu to dominate the polls. Hate the anons who don't put in the effort to give him a proper campaign as much as you want. But acting like he would be a poor winner is undermining why the silent majority voted for him. If people didn't like the Yakuza games, nor did they like Kiryu himself, you wouldn't see him on the polls.

I love Metroid and would have definitely campaigned for her after Dread. Imagine I wouldn't be alone in that as well. Winning is a tougher feat, but no way she'd miss Elite Eight four times in a row.

I'll also throw out that part of the reason 2021 was so interesting was that a power vacuum formed from some key eliminations during the tournament. Clearly the Elite Eight itself wasn't a fluke for the most part with how many of the girls have returned to quarterfinals or at least done fine in later years, but at the time it was surprising. Samus returning a month after Dread could have disrupted that.

As I said when talking about it, it's not meant to be reflective of /v/ itself. That said, I do think it's a decent representation of /tnt/. Outside slight spikes for events like Co-op, there's not that many people on here. Opinions generally line up with what's been said on here as well.

Guess while on the subject of how /v/ might differ? Garland would likely fare a little better, though I do think he'd have a clear dip from the big two. Recette would also do better. Samus might have a slight dip as already stated. Really, my biggest question is how Batter, Grimm, and Shadow would fare. Likely better for Grimm, though there's some on /v/ itself who do push the BScord incident to this day. Don't see it actually come up much on here as of late. Could see Batter and Shadow going either way, even if the latter's likely going to still get quite a few answers on both extremes.

The thing is, the characters who won did deserve to win because they're either /v/ core in some regard, or are just fan favorites amongst the anons. Now I won't argue that some kings are better than others, but they won, nevertheless, because people cared enough to crown them.
At the end of the day, we're all personally biased towards certain characters, but that shouldn't distract who is worthy of winning.
