>>343343 >Uzi stepped out of her room and into the familiar dim glow of the Copper-9 colony corridors. >The emergency lights buzzed overhead like they always had, casting long shadows across dented walls and the scattered debris. >Her railgun felt heavy on her back, the Solver tail trailing behind her like an annoyed shadow. >“Alright, N.” she muttered, voice echoing a little too loudly. >“If this is another weird solver hologram, i swear to robo-god.” >She started walking. >The first drone she saw was Thad leaning against a locker exactly where he used to hang out. >His visor glowing with the same casual green. >“Hey, Uzi!” he called, waving with that same dopey grin. >“Thank you for saving us again! You’re the coolest!” >Uzi slowed, railgun lowering a fraction. >“Thad? What the hell happened? Where’s N and V?” >Thad’s grin didn’t twitch. >“Thank you for saving us again! You’re the coolest!” >Same words. >Same tone. >Same little head tilt. >Uzi’s eyes narrowed. >“Uh… yeah, I heard you the first time, dude. Seriously, where’s...” >“You saved us again! You’re the coolest!” >She took a step back. >Her tail flicked irritably. >She pushed past him. >Thad just stayed there, frozen mid-wave, repeating the line under his breath like a corrupted audio file. >Further down the hall, Lizzy was perched on a crate. >“Uzi, that outfit is so last century ” she said without looking up. >Uzi snorted. >"that outfit is so last century.” >Lizzy’s hand kept moving in the exact same looping motion. >Uzi’s fans whirred louder. >“Lizzy. Stop. Look at me.” >“Uzi, that outfit is so...” >“Ugh. Forget it.” >She kept moving, boots clanking faster now. >The deeper she went, the worse it got. >A group of her old classmates stood in the cafeteria. >Laughing at the same joke they’d told a thousand times. >Some kid whose name she’d never bothered learning kept slapping the table on the exact same beat. >She passed the old bunker entrance. >A worker drone corpse was slumped against the wall… >Except yesterday that same chassis had been three corridors over, half-buried under a collapsed vent. >Now it was here, arms neatly crossed like someone had posed it for a photo. >Another body a small one she remembered vividly from the past. >It lay ten feet away in a spot that used to be clear. >Its head was turned the wrong direction, visor cracked in a smile that didn’t belong on a dead drone. >Uzi growled under her breath. >“All of this is wrong.” >She kicked a loose panel. >It skittered across the floor and hit another corpse that definitely hadn’t been there a minute ago. >“N!” she yelled, voice cracking with frustration. >“V! If you two are pranking me I swear I will blast both of you!” >No answer. >Just the low hum of the colony and the faint, repeating laughter from the cafeteria looping on endless repeat. >Uzi gripped her railgun tighter, purple glow flaring across her visor. >“This isn’t home. This is… something else. And I’m done playing along.” >She marched toward the central hub, determination burning hotter. 12/?
>>343676 I think anons just want to create characters with whom they can create interesting stories. I haven't created any OCs myself, at most I've given them ideas when they came up.
>>343676 OCs are basically "puppets" you built yourself. I like them because: >You control everything (story, personality, fate.) >You can express ideas or feelings through them. >It feels more “yours” than using others characters.
Although I’m curious. How do anons use characters that aren’t really “theirs.” other than fucking them cause i worried too much for writing them out of character while mine barely ever get used by others, for reasons they probably know?
>>343671 Dronetism Time Come on, grab your friends We'll go to very distant lands With Beretta the Drone and Jane the Human The pain will never end, it's Dronetism Time
>>343682 >How do anons use characters that aren’t really “theirs.” Simple, I just nab em and use them in my greens >other than fucking them Well I... huh... I wrote a lot of smut huh?
>>343682 >Why I like using other people's ocs I find that oc's greens cool or intresting, I like being part of the community and engaging with the thread's really creative ocs. Even the lewd stuff I've written is in character to not disrespect the anons who have come before me. I guess I'm just not creative enough to come up with characters that I care about on my own.
>As for how I write them I start to understand how they work as a character then I start thinking up scenarios. After that I stress over/ pour over the preexisting to get a better understanding of the character so I don't butcher them. When the time is right I write the green and then post it.
>>343682 anything beyond fuckening requires a high level of care, respect and knowledge of the oc, most anons dont wanna deal with all that i imagine, so more complex greens are written by the creators themselves
>>343688 To write a big green story with a big plot, you need to have a lot of time to create it, end being fully involved in the process and not getting distracted by other crap. It's difficult.
>>343687 Yeah. And the joke was that I was taking one for the team as in righteously I like (you)s and being bold enough to try and post an anchor. So that other anons have an excuse to repost their greens without it being considered spam or attention whoring.
>>343690 I'm going to take the time to vent that I really don't know how to properly write for Teli. I understand her motivations and as character, its just that I don't exactly know how she talks. I'm afraid she would come off as a generic shy girl even though there's more to her than that. There aren't many greens about her so most of her characterization comes from images, her wiki page or a few notable greens.
>>343538 Anyone who thinks mushrooms are plants will suffer horrors beyond comprehension. >>343688 The best way is to read greentexts, ask the creator directly, or just observe how the character is used when questions get answered. Same goes with me.
>>343692 teli is barely even a character, shes more of a fun thing to draw. she didnt even have a name at first, took a while for her to get one. theres the dynamic between her and toffee but thats barely been expanded upon. i dont see why youd dedicate anything beyond the simplest of greens to her
>>343676 When you're writing something and there's no character who can fill a role you have in mind, you literally have no other choice than to make an OC.
I guess while I'm on this topic, does anyone know if this guy shows up in any other episodes than 2 and 3? I have a role in mind I think I want this background character to fill and I want to make sure there's no details about him other than: >sits next to Uzi >got his head slammed into his desk by Uzi I'm basically going to turn him into an OC because I need this specific role and he's the closest thing I think I got in canon to it
>>343692 I'll give you some advice: dont care about it. I don't give a shit if my green with OC isn't 99.9 percent how the author of the OC envisions it, becous I write greens with OCs only because I like them, I don't intend to claim them for myself, and other anons understand this too, and they write greens with OCs for the same reason.
>>343696 Yeah, I fogot about that. I should write to amuse myself, thanks for reminding me. I don't really care necessarily about it being exactly how the author would have done it more like how the thread would have. I guess its in a ambiguous spot
>>343697 I had thought so too, but the helmet has white on the top stripe and the body in the scene has differently-colored clothing. My beloved chud may still be out there
>>343683 J SEX YES But also Anon's sitting kinda weird, is he on a benchpress or something, or has he taken the form of a coffee table using his vile green magics?
>We come bearing news – big, small and in-between!
>First and foremost: You are about to receive digital PDF links for both MURDER DRONES #2 (of 6) and a revised version of MURDER DRONES #1 (of 6)! You will see links to your PDF copies of both books in the inbox associated with your Backerkit account within the next 24 hours!
>As many of you noticed (within seconds!), there was a typo in issue #1 concerning the usage of Thad's name. We apologize for the error! You'll see that this mix-up has been corrected in the updated copy hitting your inboxes shortly (and your graphic novel copies will definitely have the updated text, too).
>Also, we’re working behind the scenes to add even more MURDER and DRONES to your MURDER DRONES comics and graphic novels. The standard American comic release is 20-22 pages per issue, and we’ve quickly come to realize that it isn't enough space to do true justice to Liam Vickers' amazing vision. Over the course of the coming months, you’ll see us adding even more content to upcoming issues (on top of the 30+ page HOME special we announced as a new, free addition to the campaign a few weeks back) to expand the pacing of each chapter – and, before you receive your graphic novel copies this November, we’re going to go BACK into issue #1 to add even more pages to the first issue. So please standby: UPGRADE IN PROCESS!
>As such, we’re adjusting our release timeline for the MURDER DRONES single issue series as currently planned for comic shops (and the digital copies released to you here on Kickstarter) – BUT NOT BY MUCH SO WE CAN ADD MORE!
>MURDER DRONES #2 (of 6) will now go on sale in comic shops on April 1st (one week later than originally slated), and the rest of the issues will move back accordingly, too. PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT ANTICIPATE THAT THIS CHANGE IN THE SINGLE ISSUE RELEASE SCHEDULE WILL IMPACT THE TIMELINE FOR KICKSTARTER FULFILLMENT, WHICH IS STILL PROJECTED TO BEGIN IN NOVEMBER 2026.
>In the meantime, huge thanks again for your massive support of MURDER DRONES through this campaign and IRL in comic shops around the world. Copies of MURDER DRONES #1 immediately vaporized from store shelves thanks to longtime fans and new readers picking up the issue, leading to one of the quickest sell-outs in Oni Press’ 30-year history. We then announced a second printing of MURDER DRONES #1, which also generated a huge response. It cannot be said: Thank you for passionate support of this series (and for letting us know when we screw up, too)!
>In the meantime, if you have issues with locating your latest digital copies, we have created a handy-dandy bullet pointed list explaining who will get them!
> People who backed BEFORE the original campaign came to a close–October 14th–as they are eligible for the stretch goals. >People who pledged for digital copies of the MURDER DRONES books. >Also, don’t forget: This is just the FIRST chapter of the six-part Murder Drones adaptation that is being released as single issue comic books… We’ll be sending a new chapter each month before it arrives in comic shops around the world, and then we also send a complete PDF of the entire graphic novel once it has been completed as part of your campaign rewards. And if you absolutely cannot wait to get your hands on the comics in physical form, visit a local comic near you on Wednesday, February 25th when the first issue goes on sale!
>That’s it. Four whole bullet points. As previously stated in Update #11, if you backed during the late-pledge period (between October 15th-January 20th) and did not pledge for a digital reward, you will not be receiving one, as you are not eligible for the stretch goals.
>>343728 they'd have to completely rework most of the pages they've got for it to even come close to being fixed. seriously, I can't believe how poorly adapted the original script to the format. in writing it's faithful to a fault but with zero consideration to the pacing or delivery of most lines also the artist can't draw drone expressions for shit
>>343732 That's exactly my issues with it too. The pacing is so bad that you can't just add pages to an already-finished comic to fix it. The pacing issues show up from panel to panel on the same page. You can't fix that without editing the art around (which I doubt they'll do.
Also it doesn't fix the dogshit that was the hallway scene. Khan leaving Uzi is easily the part in episode 1 that grabs people's attention, and in comic form it's just a wet fart of a moment. Also V being around for J killing N makes no fucking sense.
