Sometimes I wonder if tournaments would be any different if there was like a 10 minute grace period after the results were revealed for people to change their votes.

The only case off hand I can think of where it would have definitely caused a big shift is Miss Pauling in 2021, people found out she was gay and the /v/ allegations hit hard less than an hour before the round started and she won, then proceeded to get stomped the next round.

Cognito were the real winners initially, someone took advantage of a google forms glitch and had one open and flipped their vote last minute to change the winner(which is also why letting people see stuff would be a terrible idea), and then Temp did a temp tier move and decided to keep the polls open longer.

We had 3 shitty hosts that year. Numnuts the BPD vote rigging asshole, Temp the incompetent spergy idiot, and Domino the larper. The Three Stooges. I would have said Domino was the least bad, but if I remember correctly they ended up pretending to be a new anon named Ghost and lying to cover NSA's fuckery who in turn lied on their behalf about being vetted as a new anon. Three Stooges tier year there's a reason it's usually considered the worst tournament.

These small tournaments are increasingly becoming unsustainable.

To put it simply, you need a certain number of real anons to hold things together. You need to counterbalance metafags, trolls and reactionaries, and alt accounts, and you need a high enough number of anons to do it. The Silent Majority as hated as they can be are very helpful in providing stability and preventing this from descending into ultra reactionary spite wars run by alt accounts. The 2020 Tag Tournament averaged around 100 voters and yet was an order of magnitude more active.

Summing it up, between the baseline level of tourney autists and metafags slowly rising and the massive loss of people due to the shart attacks last year, these smaller side tournaments can't really be run properly and are barely producing any more OC. Even Mr. /co/ last year was showing some major warning signs of buckling and influence from metafags and spite because the voter totals were getting dangerously low. Mr. /co/ and the duos tournaments might be able to have this trend reversed by taking advantage of the jannies no longer being assholes(off season promotion threads could boost turnout in Mr. and Tag Team going to /co/ for real and not in a fake unannounced one could bring in more people), but I can't see that happening for stuff like /cov/ or /an/ which just are not sustainable anymore.
