Might as well make a thread for this here while I'm at it. A proper one, not just linking the polls within an older "waiting room" thread.

>What's Star and Starlet of /tv/?
As voted on by some of /tv/'s anons (https://strawpoll.com/3RnYXbOADye/results), Star and Starlet are a pair of single-elimination tournaments of 128 characters from TV & film, first started in 2025. In these tournaments, polls are posted for each round, where you can vote to decide the top characters for the year.

As of this post, we are still on Round 3 of the Starlet tournament. Voting for this round will continue until tonight, 1/1/2026, at 7PM 4chan time (UTC-5:00).

Everything after King of /v/ ended felt like the exact opposite of how tournaments are usually done: adopting troll attempts, squeezing one tourney after another, antagonizing the mods instead of communicating with them, posting the poll across the board. Just a complete lack of organization.

This has not been a necessity for the main tournaments in recent years as of this kit being written, and some widespread negative results have happened in the past from people attempting to contact them about a deleted side tourney. As such I do not personally recommend it. If you have to, host the deleted tourney on /tnt/. If you are going to contact mods then be extremely cautious and courteous, with a prepared and reasoned statement on the matter.

You don't speak for anyone. You don't DO anything, other than report threads and whine and bitch about everything. It's easy to sit on the sidelines throwing rocks, what exactly have you ever done for "board culture" and "efficient tournaments"? Don't talk like you give a flying fuck about the posters of /tv/. I doubt you even posted there before this tourney.

One little me of irony is that our host for Starlet (and Star) is in fact, very well organized, I've had zero complaints, I don't know whether he's hosted before or just prepared, but he's been on point with all the busywork and clearly put a lot of effort into responding to posters and tailoring the tourney to what people would like.

I wish he'd gotten a clean slate to host the tourney in without all this shitty interference, it was showing a steady and clear growth and interest, til the blatant sabotage piled up. Yeah yeah yeah, lick the mods' nutsacks, we know the routine. The reality is all your talk is bullshit, you're just stamping your feet and throwing a tantrum because you decided a tournament (that you did nothing to help come into existence) didn't precisely match your demands and therefore it must not be allowed to exist. I expect you'd have found some fault with it no matter what.

The actual tourney part was actually handled very well, and in fact nominations and qualifiers had a great roster spread across film & TV, genres and eras. However, there is a spastic on /tnt/ who decided it wasn't being done "properly" because people didn't beg the mods for permission, and so he's been mass reporting all threads as off topic, posting fake threads, and spamming in threads trying to get them deleted. So it's now been heavily interrupted by inconsistent prunings, some threads go to bump limit, then the very next thread might be pruned in two minutes.

>>220998
I think the rule of thumb is first tournaments don't count, /v/ and /co/ didn't get to their typical numbers until the second year. Based on board actvity /tv/ should be averaging about 700, about 10-20% more than /co/, but quite a bit less than /v/.We'll get to the normal by the next tournamrnt with the right promotion.

Ms. /mlp/ is probably big enough to count(it's as big as Mr. /co/), but Mr. /mlp/ gets less than tag team and drags it down.
