There can be many reasons for this (some you can work around, others not so much) but the bottom line is that these sorts of spaces just aren't particularly suited for 'serious' writing. That aside, Alice was clearly able to eat batteries without spitting them out immediately, meaning they go down for at least a while, imo there are two possible implications from that.
First, she has to spit them out at some point, since she cannot consume them.
Or second, they are consumed indeed. This is headcanon, but imo it's not too farfetched to imagine batteries getting used by her singularity. To explain, I don't think Alice has the Solver or will ever get it, after all most zombiedrones never get it, but all Workerdrones have singularities in their core, so I Imagine there is a CHANCE that a WD could eat this way.
If the latter is true, (not necessarily by the core idea, if she can eat anything and gain matter from it no matter the 'how' it should work the same way), then it is possible that she might be able to eat a weak (from heat, out of matter,[since all DDs kept running into CFL it appears that Cyn/AS didn't get any 'feedback' from the DD cores, likely since they were jarred before matter collection could start and the heat kept them in too bad of a shape to do anything. Which imo means that as long as Alice can properly take what she swallows, it can work with even a dolvercore as long as it is weak. Remember that J took at least an hour, if not days, to start matter collection]) core, even of a solverdrone.
There are of course many constellations of how strong the core is at the time, if AS still has reach, or if Alice or any solverless WD/ZD for that matter can eat, but imo there should be circumstances under which it could work.
