Nothing newer than Spinel or Fang has done any better than TADC. 2019 was the last year where new stuff was still doing well.

Nothing Nick or CN made 2020 onward could do well in tournaments, none of the other indie shows did well in mains(Vivzie stuff can do ok in side tournaments), Amphibia and Owl House jobbed at their peak. TADC is honestly still the best preforming newer work

Ragatha next year will determine if TADC was a fluke moment.

I think it's mainly a simple generational divide. The origin and core of /co/ has always been the 90's and 2000's crowd. Also newer shows do seem less universally appealing than the older classics. Zoomers can get into millennial flavored toons, but not often vice versa.

I'd say we really had a pretty even blend of hardcores and casuals up until 2023, a lot of people lost trust after NSA started keeping emails and hiding the poll and didn't come back(might not even know she's gone), then after that the hack happened and drove a lot of people off and you can't ignore some anons gradually go from casuals to tourney autists either.

You don't seem to understand that my issue with your premise is how you seem to think the poor performance of recent cartoons would be fixed if the demographics of the voters shifted towards younger people, when the actual issue has always been a matter of reception. TADC's finale sucked, hence Pomni's performance this year

Also, I love how ENA is a total non-factor in this debate when, if anything, she's walking proof DTVA/GLITCH/Hellaverse/"bean mouth" in general being fodder and jobbers in the tournaments is not a matter of age target, nostalgia, or lack of exposure to most voters.

I never bought that it's "the shows suck" in a critical vacuum. I think obviously the demo and how the shows are flavored influence the reception and obviously it's somewhat unique to /co/. TADC was very similar to SU in 2019 in that it had such brute force popularity it could overcome the spite, but people seem to forget Pomni was only barely winning and contentiously as it may have been assisted by rigs. Ragatha too was not an example of super dominant wins, arguably more of a Pomni surrogate at the time (we will know more certain next year). The reception being bad more influenced the demo that already was pushing super hard for it rather than generally everyone.
ENA is odd and is similar to Jucika in that she's more an inoffensive board cult figure than something fitting in the big zoomer/boomer arguments.

It's just "I don't like new thing, new thing bad" but dialed up because Glitch has been especially successful (inb4 "so far").

ENA is a web original passion project first and foremost. It's outside the scope of shows that get produced professionally with specific demographics in mind. Technically, merchandise aside, there's no ENA content you even have to pay for, at least for now, even the Chapter 1 of her game is free.

My only remaining question at this point is what do the anons on this argument even want or, more importantly, realisticaly expect out of these characters in the future? Is your honest belief that stuff like Luz or the Amphibia trio will be FARTS-tier powerhouses come 10 years from now?
